When a cunning enemy enslaves the kingdom, a famed warlock-knight must survive a gauntlet of perils to save his people.
Augum Stone is only sixteen and already a legend. He heard his name chanted in the arena by tens of thousands. He vanquished a notorious tyrant and ended a war. And he revived a warlock-knight order that lay dormant for generations.
But these feats came with a price—he needs combat to feel alive, to test his limits.
As Augum struggles with restraint, a callous enemy kingdom enslaves his people. And that enemy wants more than mere control—they’re searching for an ancient weapon with which to conquer Sithesia.
Now, with the future of all the kingdoms at stake, Augum and his friends must cobble together lost historical clues to find the weapon before the enemy does. Standing in the way is a manipulative prince, a traitorous nobility, a vengeful rival . . . and Augum’s own reckless nature.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve been reading Augum, Bridget, and Leera’s story since the original five books and the story arc and character development has been excellent. I personally enjoy this series of books by Mr. Bronny the most because of the character development: it is a true coming of age story. From the very first book till Honor’s Price several years are spanned and you see the trio struggling with their place in the world, working to become better Arcaners, and fighting through heartbreak, racism, and many other real world coming of age issues. Nothing comes free in the real world and you see that in these books. The characters have depth and they continue to grow and make the story involved and more and more interesting.
Honor’s Price is an excellent addition to Mr. Bronny’s world. The book starts to explore the world outside of the relatively small geographic area that has thus far been explored. Invasion and occupation and the strain that the trio experience due to the occupying force are central to this book. The trio really begin to understand the Arcaner path that they set themselves on in the first book of Fury of a Rising Dragon and truly come into their own as warriors, as warlocks “locked in war”. There are some twists and turns and the trio’s reactions and decisions and the internal struggle they go through to reach their conclusions are excellently portrayed. There are some truly sad moments and Mr.Bronny does a wonderful job of making the reader feel the pain that the protagonists endure. The story ends on a cliff hanger of sorts but was the natural stopping point in the story. I personally can not wait for the next addition to this series and see where the journey takes the trio.
Overal I personally think this is the best book of the extended series from Mr. Bronny. His transition from the trio as children to young adults has been effortless. This book truly showcases Mr. Bronny’s ability to carry characters through their growing years and growing pains as they become adults. The action is intense, the sad moments heartbreaking, and it leaves you begging for more time to read. Do yourself a favor and buy this book ASAP!!
If you love fantasy and coming of age, you will want to ready this book. If you haven't read the first book, Burden's Edge, I would recommend reading it first and if you have not read the Arinthian Line series by this author I would recommend that also. The Fury of a Rising Dragon series builds on the Arinthian Line series. They are all excellent books and I already can't wait for the next. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. This book has adventure, challenges, and discovery. There is also loss and intrigue. The characters are growing into their own and is an excellent journey.
I hate to end such a great book and have to wait on another one. :-) ... I’ve enjoyed all of Sever Bronny’s books. The Arinthian Line series is great and the start of Augum, Leera, and Bridget’s Journey. I hated to see it end and honestly didn’t know how the next would turn out but boy was I happily surprised! Can’t wait till Fury of a Rising Dragon book 3 comes out! Thank you Sever! Keep them coming!
Let me preface my review by saying that this book has very defined themes that really hit home for me. Things like: Friendship, trial, sacrifice, perseverance, study and reward, defined magic rules, war / training themes, rich history, and how love and grit will get you through tough times. Some of those themes are prevalent in books like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or even things like Mistborn, etc. If you enjoyed those series, you may enjoy this series as well. For me, those themes really resonate with me, and this book is no exception.
I’d like to recommend that you read Arcane – The Arinthian Line Series (Books 1 -5) first. Really, so much is set up before this book that you can’t just jump in blindly now. If you read those books and loved them, then KEEP READING: it just keeps getting more and more awesome. I love these books, and this book in the series just continues to help solidify my feeling that this has got to be one of the best book series I have ever read.
There are many ups and downs in this book. The author does a great job of making you feel like there is no hope, that all is lost, and that there’s no way they can ever get out of what they’re up against. I can’t say too much other than this: the few wins that there are do really hit hard on you: you just FEEL so much for the character’s vindication and justice that everything was worth it.
There were definitely some slow scenes and definitely some exciting scenes. There was rich history woven in a tapestry of friendship and growth and pain. Although the story might slow here and there, I felt it was very cohesive and realistic, and couldn’t find any gaps or issues with it. I felt that the character’s development (emotionally and otherwise) was so satisfying and raw. I love the villains and I love the heroes and everyone in between.
Honestly it’s been awhile since the last book, and since the first 5 books in the series, so I kinda forgot a few of the side characters, but I quickly was able to jump back in, and nothing weird about any side characters ever was enough of an issue to keep me from being engaged in the story.
Sever, keep up the good work. To me, this book and this whole series is the most under-rated gem of the 21st century. (Insert meme of me at a table with a sign that says just that, and underneath says “change my mind”. But then those words “Change my mind” are crossed out as you’ll never be able to do so!)
I hope that there is only 1 more book in this particular series as I think that would be a great way to end things, but realistically I plan on reading ANY book that Sever puts out at this point. It’s just so great that these books, while good for teens, can also hit home for adults as well. Also, as one who is mindful of content, this book is generally between PG & PG-13 rated, mainly due to fighting, and so I’m glad to be able to enjoy quality literature that’s NOT R-rated. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Sever.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review, and I recommend buying this book for an honest-to-goodness great experience.
An exciting epic adventure that takes you along on an emotional rollercoaster.
The sequel series blossoms quite nicely here in this second book. It is a coming of age epic fantasy told in a third person limited point of view. I am grateful the author decided to continue the story in creating this sequel series. If not for deciding to write a sequel series I doubt very much that the first series would have ended the way it didin terms of the characters ability and powers. That is too the readers benefit ask we see how the protagonist and his friends are pushed to their limits as once again they face some overwhelming circumstances.
The series is written for young adults but can be enjoyed by most anyone who enjoys a good epic fantasy interesting magic system and plenty of action. Granted there times in this second book where the story slows down a bit as our characters or put into some situations where the answers are not easy. The power scaling is done in such a way that the characters, while formidable, are not all powerful.
This is not a series where all the good guys are guaranteed to survive. Though I doubt certain characters will parish most everyone seems to be at risk. The author does make the reader feel as if the dangers are real and the changes have consequences. There was a couple surprising moves the author pulled in this book that I was not expecting it all.
I was a bit worried where the story was headed at first. Sometimes authors take out there frustrations with certian religious or political views by creating characters or organizations within their story that end up becoming flat and lean towards a straw man argument. thankfully this is not the case necessarily with in this story. There was some powerful revelations and events that were emotionally impactful and did not feel cheap.
What I do find interesting is that where in the first series we see our characters advance quite quickly so far in this series they have been kept and a slower pace. It is easily explain to a degree because the academy does advanced students slower as mentioned in the previous series. Mainly though I think that a big reason why would do not see our characters advance, at least in terms of their degrees, is because the next level they would have to learn the teleport spell. In the same way modern stories somehow find a way to separate characters from cell phones and communication devices the author has been hesitant to allow the heroes to be able to freely travel. I do believe this will occur in the series and when it happens it will be a game changer.
The story does have a few more curse words in it but it is still very clean compared to most works and is appropriate for young adults. They are some dramatic and even traumatic situations that will be hard for children to read through.
If this series continues in its quality I will most certainly end up buying it but it is available on Kindle unlimited for those on the budget.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Let me just preface this by saying – Get this book! This is an amazing continuation of 'Burden's Edge' which is 'Fury of the Rising Dragon Book 1'. This feels like I am sitting by a warm ,cozy fire with a hot cup of tea and 2 old, dear friends are telling me another chapter in the story of their lives, and they are all exquisite storytellers.
If you haven't read 'The Arinthian Line' series, I highly recommend picking up those books first. It would help quite a bit to set the foundation for this book and Burden's Edge, and the entire series is an excellent series that I highly recommend. I love the world set forth in the 2 series, and this is a great fantasy book for any and all lovers of magic, mystery and a little slice of life. You are taken to an exciting world where you fight, laugh and grieve along with Augum, Leera and Bridget – the three main characters- and seem to grow alongside the,
This book picks up all the fantasy action, adventure and fun from the previous book Burden's Edge. I enjoyed this entire series, and I could not put it down! It's hard to put into words how much I enjoyed this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, it was a roller coaster of emotions. There were some very excited and unexpected twists and turns, and often I felt my breath catch as I couldn't believe what had just occurred. Loss, Sacrifice, Honor, Triumph and Intrigue are all expertly woven into Honor's Price, and I was so sad when I got to the end. I am hungry for more! I want to cheer Augum, Leera and Bridget on through the harrowing and exciting moments of their lives, and this was a window into an amazing world of magic.. sorry, archanery... with such a human side. I really felt drawn into this world, felt the struggle each character endured and the consequences of their actions and choices. Much of this book is so human. Nothing really goes the way you think it will, and there are quite a few surprises along the way. I could never really settle in, just as I started to feel like the story was going to go the way I thought it would, there was an challenging twist that made my palms sweat. I couldn't put this book down, and I kept reading it, loving every chapter. This is an exceptional book and I highly recommend it!
A few years back, I began reading the Arinthian Line and have not stopped recommending it to anyone I know. When I describe the series to others, I state it has elements of Harry Potter (friendship), Lord of Rings (a true quest), and Percy Jackson(the banter and pace). Simply referencing the two latter series is about as big of a compliment as I can give.
With the release of Honor’s Price, I was a little concerned by the direction. One of the great pitfalls I have experienced when reading fantasy (even those written by the greats) is losing the story in the story. This often happens when an author focuses on gamesmanship between characters, and thus, we are left with unnecessary expansion of the story. In Burden’s Edge, my major concern was losing the thrust of the story by focusing too much on games of cunning and wit. Fortunately, and much to the credit of Mr. Bronny, there was a significant payoff, as Honor’s Price blended those elements into the trials and tribulations faced by our heroes. In other words, the events that gave me pause proved necessary, which is an exceedingly difficult thing to do in this genre.
Prior to reading Honor’s Price, I learned that this was one of Mr. Bronny’s longest books. However, it did not seem this way. The pacing was fantastic. The lulls were quick, but needed. The bond of the characters was further cemented in unexpected ways. The sad parts drove the story further. The characters remain relatable. Their fears are our fears. Their strengths are our strengths. I have given Honor’s Price 5 stars-it probably deserves more. I cannot wait until the next chapter in the series.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a fan of this serie's story and character's from the very begining. I have to say this was one of the author's very best work to date. The storyline was well thought out and developed throughout the book. I was actually suprised at the length of the book when I started reading. It is possible this book could have been made into 2 books of comparitive length, to the 1st in this series, Burden's Edge; however I don't know where you would divide it. The story kept you on edge, building suspense on every page. I am happy to say there were no particular sections I would consider slow or dry. The end keeps you ready for the next book in the series.
There are a few places that beg for a bit more explanation. I love the story as is, but some questions come up.
1) Why are the simulcasts particular to only the Arcaner's? Why couldn't someone other than an Arcaner learn them? 2) Why do they lose them, the simulcasts, if their shield dims? What is the connection, magically? 3) How did the whisper blade assassin's learn to counter Arcaner's? 4) Were there any Arcaner variants to the simulcasts, based on country/locale/teaching, etc? 5) Where did the Arcaner's in Canterra, Tiberra, and other's, train their skills? 6) Will Augum ever get access to his castle's extras again?
I hope I haven't given too much away, but I hope you read the series and are as excited by the future as I am.
How can you take such serious subjects and deminish them and convert them into reasonable acts. You are talking about the most heinous acts possible that man can act to another. Absolute humilation torture and minimize them with juvenile behaviour. Calling someone a name is damaging but isn't in the same universe as opening another to being murdered. A punishment for being rude is not having your back cut open and ridiculed demeaned then laughter at by friends as ok along with giggles and what class is next. By not giving the seriousness of your subject put into the right context you are taking away humanity. Why we fight for fair treatment. I do think you are being irresponsible by using such extremes. Without recognizing them for what they are. Making atrocities viewed as acceptable treatment for minor juvenile acts. It's like a psychopath view. Yes this is fiction yes it's fantacy by you are teaching none the less what is acceptable. If you don't include fight back societal outrage you condone the actions. Just for your characters sake you aren't being fair. Flip the bird and get hit with sledge hammer and live with a crippled useless hand for life. Sure that's reasonable. With no power of general rage at the magnitude of consequences in hopeless helpless powerless agony
This goes review goes more for the whole series than this specific book.
It has been a while since I was induced with the reading fever so bad that I binged 7 books in less than two weeks, sacrificed precious sleeping time by reading deep into the night. Because of this i am now left alone without medicine for my fever because I failed to ration it properly! The last 2 times this has happened to me was with books from Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss by the way!
The series so far has been really compelling, with great world building as well as a great mush of different characters (The main trio are extremely likeable each with their own quirks!). Even as a grown 28 year old man the book manages to make you wonder who the hell is manipulating your own emotions as you live through the trio and their world.
There is a good balance of expected plots, as well as proper rollercoaster of twists in the plots that really leave you surprised.
Right now I am a bit out of words since I only finished the Honor's Price a few hours ago, so I might have to re-do this later.
I already miss the adventures of the trio and their companions and can't wait to see what happens next!
This story line has so much potential while being bogged down with needless added story! The dragoon trial was boring as boring can be, I found myself completely skimming those chapters because they were absolutely terrible and not needed!!!
The characters don’t seem to develop very well for all that they have been through either!
The whole concept of Leera not getting glasses is absolutely stupid and she deserved to fail her trials because she wouldn’t get them but for being an “honor” organization she had to cheat to get through the trial, that sure makes a whole lot of sense…
For the love of God how often to people gasp and cover their mouths? Or spit out a drink from shock?!? These are actually considered movie tricks/reactions to give more dramatic effect but the amount this author uses the hand over the mouth gasp is pretty annoying!
Eh… I don’t know, it is frustrating because the idea of this story has so much potential that feels like it gets let down…
Also man Katrina is just a bad villain, she should have been handled with ease by now so that feels like a crap storyline also…

Wow - I must say having read the previous sage "The Arinthian Line" series of books, this next series continues the journey of our three illustrious hero's (Augum, Leera and Bridge) and the events that both challenge them. Through thick and thin, and experiencing those that aim to destroy the trio. Enlightening is the fact, is that as Arcaners, (and boy the trials were not easy to get to this stage) the trio plus their friends, endeavor to establish this heritage within the kingdom. I won't tell you too more about the ending of this series only to say that I couldn't put the last book down (or the previous two). I can't wait for the next book and what an adventure!!!
For those readers who enjoy fantasy and lots of action and suspense, you won't be disappointed in the "Fury of the Rising Dragon" this series. A must read (as with the previous series by this author "The Arinthian Line".
This is the second book in the "Fury of the Rising Dragon" series. We follow Aug, Leera and Bridget as they are determined to become Arcane Knights and save their people and kingdom from cruel invaders. A thrilling, fast paced book full of arcane magic, amazing magical battles with plenty of twists and turns. A fantasy world that displays the author's characteristic imagination. The plot never fails to keep me glued to the pages. I've watched the trio grow in maturity and power. Their triumphs and failures make them come alive on the pages. The story is wildly entertaining and undeniably unique. The chapters flew by and I didn't want it to end. I can't wait until book #3 comes out... Book #1 is Burdens Edge, you will want to read that first. ..... I highly recommend this book.
An excellent continuation of the YA fantasy Fury of a Rising Dragon series where we delve into the three heroes of the nation seeing them in their roles of student, friend, and aspiring young adult arcane dragoons. Packed with action, this second foray into a magical land only dragged a bit during their long trial in which their mettle, honor, learning and strength were put to the test. While a second in the series that fleshes out the depth of the nations and characters, this book does not do so at the expense of the plot. Looking forward to seeing the challenges of the magical and mundane continue in this enchanting tale of a land and people struggling through fighting for what is right, not always getting it the first time but picking themselves up and fighting again with honor and courage.
I was excited to continue Augum's story with this series. Where the first book's pace was a bit slow and repeating within the characters actions, I realized that it was necessary to give that buildup for the epic storm of book 2 to take place. I'm saddened but impressed by Bronny for his courage in allowing characters to die. Every death is always a surprise and it makes you value each character more. Overall, I love this series. I would recommended it for anyone who loves Harry Potter, Belgariad or Eragon. I was happy to see more character growth from all the characters in this installment of the series which is what I found lacking in the previous installments. Bronny just keeps getting better and better as he writes and I can't wait to read everything else he writes.
This coming of age saga continues to grow and has entertained me at levels I equate to Harry Potter, Wheel of Time, and Richard Rahl with the Sword of Truth.
The latest exciting chapter in the saga of three of my favorite young heroes has been delivered by Sever Bronny. This gripping story highlights the never dull and often harrowing path taken by Augum, Leera, and Bridget in pursuit of honor and knowledge. I was grabbed at page one and could not put the book down until it ended leaving me anticipating book three.
Honor’s Price starts off with a bang, instant action, from there the story continues to grow. Meet new friends and reacquaint with old as the latest struggle unfolds for our intrepid young heroes.
I figured this book would start off where the last one ended after Augum was attacked. But it was a bit later and he’d been attacked a few more times. Too me this left a little gap in the story line. The story could have been shortened a good bit as well in my opinion. It had a lot of filler. I feel people expect too much out of the trio...especially Augum. He’s still a teen. What are all the grown ups doing? Some help. Some sit back and watch things happen. And the king??? What a freaking pansy! Augum may make some bad decisions, but he’s still a kid. The adults have no such excuse. Still like the series. Hoping we close it up a bit up a bit in the next book.
Simply because it's the last page! Dah! How I hate to leave my favorite trio once again. I just may have to start over at Arcane again. The whole series just had that same suck-you-in
Incredible story. Filled with adventure, suspense, great characters and just a touch of refreshingly innocent romance. Prepared to get lost in another great adventure.
SN: I'm in total support of this series following the trio clear into their golden years and beyond with the occasional side story of a few other amazing characters. Maybe even a novella of the great Anna Atticus Stone? Heck you can even go all the way back to Atrius! Just please don't stop writing!
I can't recommend this series enough. I actually started with book 1 of fury of a rising dragon before I realized there was another series about the trio earlier. And I loved Burden's edge (book 1 of this series) but I love Honor's Price even more. As Bronny writes the character development just grows deeper, you can see the characters grow as you can also see the author grow in his writing. I would compare maturity of the books to Harry Potter, in that in the beginning of the series you follow kids with their emotions but as the series continues you're reading about adults with adult emotions. I highly enjoyed Honor's Price and I'd recommend you return to where the series all started with the Arithian series.
If your reading this, you are probably wondering if you should pick up Honors Price or not. The answer is simple: have you already read the other books? If not, I’d have to direct you to the beginning of the series as well as advise you to put in a leave request while at work, you might forget to sleep. Seriously, his books are always a fun ride and this is no exception. If you are all caught up to this point in the series - trust me when I say he found a way to turn it up a notch for our heroes. Unfortunately, it also means we also have to wait. At least he isn’t pulling a GRRM on us.
I liked this next installment and think that it definitely takes a strong step forwards - though there are always lots of convenient spells which have just been learnt and "unexplainable old magic no one understands" which sometimes bug me, but some effort has been made, I think, to make these a bit more integrated in the series.
I actually didn't realise this was scheduled to be a trilogy and so when I read that there may be only one book left, I was quite impressed. I'm not sure quite how this will fall out, but it seems to be likely to be a pretty big jump if it is done.
I'll still definitely read the finale(s) of the series.
A really solid book with a lot of good progress on the story. There is a LOT of exposition and history that could have been told more elegantly. Also dialogue falls back onto the common tropes of the main characters personalities too much. Leera can't always be indifferent and lazy about school etc there needs to be more diverse aspects to their personalities. This goes for Katrina also, very one dimensional villain where her brother was very interesting. Overall enjoyable read though, just had some parts that rubbed me the wrong way while I was reading and broke me out of being immersed in the story.
I am new to the series, however I am absolutely addicted to the adventures of the trio. The series draws you in and captures your attention with its detail and harrowing adventures. The emotions of the characters are felt through the words written on the page and I absolutely could not stop reading! I have come to love Augum’s honor driven, Arcaner justice personality just as much as I loathe Katrina! I highly recommend this series to anyone that loves an adventure fantasy. I am headed back to the beginning to read the first series. Give this book a try, you won’t be disappointed.
When I stated reading the Arinthian Line series. I never thought that a book could get me so wrapped up into its world. The never ending action. The insanely cool arcaney. The characters that are so well told that you fell that you actually know them. After I finished the first series, I was disappointed because I wanted to keep following the young hero’s into adult hood and beyond. Well luckily for me, Fury of a Rising Dragon was out. I read the first two books and now I wait impatiently for 3! More! Months! For the next one to come out. If ur looking for a good read. I definitely recommend this author and the Arinthian Line and Fury of a Rising Dragon series.
A lot of times I do not enjoy a second series following the same characters as well as I enjoy the first series. But I love this series every bit as much as I like the Arinthian Line. I put very few writers in the same category as J R R Tolkien and Robert Jordan, but in my opinion Sever Bronnys books fall in with them. As the story progresses, the characters personalities progress and mesh with each other incredibly well. The plot has plenty of twists and turns, keeping the reader guessing. There is no doubt that I will be reading these series again and again. Thank you for some amazing books Mr. Bronny.
This second book of the continuing saga of Augum, Leera, and Bridget continues with nary a dull moment. I’ve read many fantasy novels but have never found as many characters to dislike as I have in this segment. This is due to the absolute artistic writing provided by the author. Totally realistic, believable circumstances, and artfully choreographed battles have me wanting more and waiting for the next book. There’s a lot more coming and I’m sure it will be worth waiting for. I highly recommend this book.
I recommend this to people looking for a coming of age friendship and magic heroic group. I escape into the books and just wish I could be there learning and fighting with these characters. The books read like a movie plenty of visuals. These adventurers face life and death and adversity while trying to grow in their arcane skills and strong code. A code that both aida them and can be used against them. I have loved all the books with Augum, Bridget and Leera but this is my favorite one so far.
Loving this series about the trio.. One of the best storylines ever!!!
While I read a lot of books and have loved so many of them, this series right from Arcane will remain on the top of of my favorites forever. Brony is a talented author with a sharp mind whose story worlds are rich and every aspect is well connected. Waiting eagerly for the next book or hopefully boooookkkksssss.
I read the first book of these adventures out of boredom and because it was on special at a dollar at the time never in my mind did I expect to find such a rich story with an interesting world, lovable characters. This 1 dollar impulse buy had without a doubt in my mind the greatest value for it exposed me to this author's amazing works and i will continue to support his writting even if i go blind.
Another awesome book, in my favorite series, with my favorite characters, by one of my all time FAVORITE AUTHORS!! As always, I was so sad to see it end, and will now be (impatiently) awaiting the next book in this series!Thank you, Sever, for another amazing adventure! All of your hard work is greatly appreciated. I believe your work would do wonders in the movie theater!!!! Maybe some day! That would be so awesome!
