Mann, It turned out to One of my favorite Nepali books, beautifully portrays the Kathmandu of 1957, offering a glimpse into the lives and struggles of that era. It sheds light on how women were suppressed and treated during that time, which was the period of my grandparents. Through this book, I gained a deeper understanding of their way of life, their perspectives, the historical context, and even their emotional and sexual desires. What fascinated me the most was the depiction of Kathmandu’s geography—contrasting the towering buildings and modern amenities of today with its past as a rural village, where transportation was nonexistent, and agricultural fields dominated the landscape.
