Retired journalist, freelance copywriter and copy editor Lesley Tither writes under various pen names for different genres. Already well known for travel memoirs as Tottie Limejuice, Lesley also writes crime fiction under the name L. M. Krier. Her first children's fiction book, adventure/crime, The Dog with the Golden Eyes, is published under under the pen-name L M Kay.

Writing as L M Krier, Lesley has published twenty-two crime fiction books in the popular Ted Darling Crime Series: The First Time Ever, Baby's Got Blue Eyes, Two Little Boys, When I'm Old and Grey, Shut Up and Drive, Only the Lonely, Wild Thing, Walk on By, Preacher Man, Cry for the Bad Man, Every Game You Play, Where the Girls Are, Down Down Down, The Cuckoo is a Pretty Bird, Dirty Old Town, The End of the Line, It’s Oh So Quiet, A Woman’s Heart, No Way to Say Goodbye
Everybody Hurts Sometime, Sweet Little Lies, Not To Tell.

'Sell the Pig' is the first in a series of travel memoirs describing how Lesley, writing as Tottie Limejuice, decided to make the move from the UK to France to start a new life, taking with her an 89-year-old mother suffering from vascular dementia. The story continues in three further books, 'Is That Billinge Lump?' 'Mother, Was It Worth It?' 'Biff the Useless Mention', and 'Angling Bumateurs'. There's an additional standalone prequel to the series, Trot On!, about her time running a holiday riding centre in Wales, before her move to France.

Lesley is also the not-so-secret writer behind the pen-name of Carl Granger. The book Looking for Lulu is darker crime fiction.

Lesley is a former journalist, working as both a criminal court and coroner's court reporter. She also worked as a case tracker for the Crown Prosecution Service, and for a firm investigating irregularities in offshore finance. Her other jobs have included owning and running a holiday riding centre and acting as a 'charity mugger', lying in wait to sign up shoppers for a wildlife charity.

Lesley's interests centre around nature and wildlife and encompass dogs, wild camping and organic gardening. She lives in the Auvergne region of Central France and holds dual French/British nationality. Her current dogs are two rescued border collies

This one was a little odd, though it all wraps up nicely at the end. I would strongly recommend reading 'Cry for the Bad Man' first, however, as this is mostly a continuation of the case in that book. It left Ted and his team in an impossible position, politically and case-wise, but the author resolves it nicely in this book. (And, you'll see the reason for the title by the time you finish.)

I had a couple of nitpicks - first, there's a lot of concern for Rob, who is carrying on with a case uncovered in 'Preacher Man', but it's more tell than show, and rather on the side, with everything else going on. And there's quite a lot - we also have Ted getting involved, once again, in one of Mr Green's operations. (And that becomes the focus of the next book.) My other issue was with yet another case the team handles at the beginning of the book. It connects with the main case, but only peripherally, and gets more attention than it should.

I've become quite fond of the supporting cast - that's probably the strongest aspect of the series. Ted's team isn't a bunch of names and cardboard, but fully fleshed, each with their own life away from the station and history. The books rarely stray from Ted's point of view - we don't get too sidetracked from the main storyline. Rather, we see how the individual experiences and characters of his team play out as assets and liabilities as they work the case at hand.

This book lives up to the high standards the author has set in all the previous books in the series. It is a thoroughly enjoyable read with many layers to the plot.

On a personal note, I found the inclusion of unresolved storyline strands from previous books quite distracting at times because I was concentrating more on my struggles to remember what had happened in those books, but they are part of the ongoing storyline and were needed, but a quick précis at the start would have been useful. By the end of this book, those struggles were less important as the added details aided my recollection. To be fair, the author does make it clear in a note before the story begins, that the book picks up on cases begun in Preacher Man and Cry for the Bad Man and that it would be better to read those first. It is possible to read this book without having read the others, but it may prove a little frustrating. It does work as a standalone book but the reader would fall in love with the characters, then go to read the previous books and kick themselves for reading this first! Don't do it, read the series in order, you will not regret it - each book is worth the time and money invested in it.

LM Krier has written another captivating story about Ted Darling. This one involves two cases he and his team are trying to solve, while an investigation is underway regarding an earlier case that wasn’t solved. The preceding book in this series, “Cry for the Bad Man” should be read before this one because it deals with the earlier case. All of the books in this series are fantastic! As always, Ted’s relationships with his work team add some lighthearted moments, as a counterpoint to the serious crimes with which they are tasked. Ted’s relationship with his husband Trevor remains strong, despite their different personalities and the stress of Ted’s job. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

L.M. Thier did not disappoint with Every Game You Play. She took care of the story line from Cry For The Bad Man, which I knew she would. Brought back Mr. Green from retirement. Her descriptive of Tara’s capitivity was riveting , and the ensuing dilemma was great. She is making our Ted show more emotion and making Ted and Trev’s relationship show more mutual love. Not sure where the Marston storyline will lead, but I’m sure she does. Congratulations Lesley, you have done it again. You continue to amaze with the thoughts that re in your head. Please keep it up. Thank you.

It's excellent, of course!

The team at Stockport are flat out with several cases on the go at once.
A woman disappears, there is a murder and a previous crime to clear up also.
DCI Ted Darling uses his exceptional skills in tidying up some outstanding crimes, as well as being offered a brand new challenge.
As always, this book is well written and researched by crime writer L M Krier.

Oh dear. I can't express how great this book is. I have to say book 12 better be on its way. You leave us hanging off a cliff edge.
Brilliantly written, characters are so real, they have become like trusted friends, wishing I could be joining them at the pub.
Hats off LM Krier, you've done it again..

Great plotting, really interesting characters and a high standard of writing. This is LM Krier at her very best, as her main character DCI Ted Darling deals with women disappearing, faces an inquiry related to a previous case and is involved on the periphery of several other cases. I am glad that Lesley is such a regular producer of good stories as I am ready for Ted 12 now!

Excellent!

Another great book in the series. Well written stories with good twists and turns and personable characters, I just find this series so enjoyable to read. Loved how it continued on from the last book and tie up those loose ends. Would recommend though, start at the beginning of the series, it's too good to miss!

Ended too soon

Love the Ted Darling books, and this book was as good as the others, although I would suggest reading them in order as this follows on from Ted's last case.

This series is one of the best m/m police procedure/mystery out there. I read about 20-25 ebooks a week and I am always waiting eagerly for her next book. For those readers that are worried about this being a m/m romance--don't be--the story and the characters are what makes these books so great. I would recommend grabbing the series and spend a weekend getting familiar with Ted Darling and his cast of characters
