If I Could Die

Rate this book
"All death can do is take me Home."

John "Dusty" Wilson's life is falling apart. His wife has left him, and he's having a hard time convincing her to come back home. When his alcoholic uncle's health fails and he's faced with more difficulties, Dusty wonders if God is the refuge that he needs or the source of his pain.

Helping him figure it out is Brooklyn, who is back in Cedar, Alabama after seven years of living in Chicago, the city where her mother was killed when she was a young girl. Recovering from a failed relationship, Brooklyn settles back into her childhood surroundings, a place where her faith and sexuality simply do not mix. When her ex begins to woo her back, Brooklyn must determine which path will lead her to the peace she is searching for.

Above them, Tobiel, an angel of God, has been given orders to bring John home, and will do whatever it takes to guide him there safely.

An unforgettable novel about friendship and heartbreak, If I Could Die is a triumphant debut, a tender story of love and wonder, family and faith, and the everlasting connection to the invisible world just beyond our reach.

Oh my goodness! This was a deep read. Brooklyn and Dusty grew up across the street from each other in Alabama. A beautiful story; and, there are angels. I appreciated the internal struggle with Brooklyn's belief system. It's my reality. The other characters enhanced the story and I especially appreciated two families, one Black & one White, considered each other family as a result of Brooklyn and Dusty's friendship. Priceless. Read this book and the prequel, 'Virginia'.

Finished. Very different writing style. It jumps around a lot. However, the Author pulls in all together in the end where you discover why it is written this way.
I loved the main characters in this story and enjoyed taking this journey with them. Family, Friends that become chosen family, life, death and God. Very interesting read.

Waiting for my turn

I am not in to reading but the title caught my attention. There is nothing I disliked about it. It moved at the speed to allow time to feel and consider what the characters were feeling.

Lost lives but not lost souls!

What a sad, yet wonderful journey of Families blood related and heart related. Color didn't matter. They were truly there for each other through death, life, trials, struggles of identity, alcohol, abandonment. Love prevailed!

Awesome read

This book grabs your attention and hooks you with real life struggles. I became so involved with characters and their stories. A spiritual struggle that most could relate to. I laughed and cried in this book. It is definitely worth reading!!!

Excellent book. An eerily disturbing read from chapter to chapter that held you on the edge of your seat. Made me a believer!
