Hadrian's Gate #1
The Cairo Accord
When Kayla McGann, the most notorious prisoner in the galaxy, escapes custody, the president is desperate to get her back. With the atrocities at Three Zero still fresh in the public conscience, and dissident groups threatening the authority of the Union, this dangerous figurehead cannot be allowed to re-establish her terrorist networks.
As the president invokes the controversial Indigo Protocol, recovery forces move into the territories of the maligned Kamdo regime. However, the blood lust of an ambitious commander promises to escalate tensions and destabilise the delicate peace held under the terms of the Cairo Accord.
Meanwhile, in another part of the galaxy, scientist Pike Macey knows little of McGann. He has no idea that her escape will be devastating for his peaceful family life, and that he is just a pawn in the games of the politicians desperately clinging to power.
The Cairo Accord is the first episode in the Hadrian’s Gate series. It introduces the reader to the author’s vision of the future, where the affluence and comforts of first world planets sit at odds with the struggles of frontier worlds. Lose yourself in a galaxy of gritty characters, some touched by love and hope, but many riddled with hate and fear.
Look out for the next installment, Three Zero!

3.5/5 Stars. This is a decent start to Georgia Knight’s science fiction drama series. Being that this is ‘episode 1’ I wasn’t expecting this to work as a stand-alone book, but I would have liked some closure as a reward for my time spent reading it. As it is, this is very much an act-one and is more focused on world building and character introductions. Those elements are interesting, however, and I really enjoyed the sections of this book devoted to the character, Kayla.

A fast paced adventure with a diverse set of characters that leaves you wanting for more!

The first episode in the Hadrian’s Gate series, is a quick, character driven, sci-fi adventure.
What I enjoyed most about the book was how Mr. Bowen creates such detailed and vivid descriptions that you cannot help but see the worlds he has created. I could clearly see in my mind each location as the story unfolded.
The story is told in the third person and we get to get an in depth look into each of the main characters.
Kayla McGann is known throughout the galaxy as a criminal. From the media’s point of view, she was justifiably sent to the asteroid prison to live out her days in agony and torment. Kayla knew, deep inside, that where there is life, there is hope. Her internal struggles and broken spirit kept me wishing her success despite what she may have been part of in the past.
President Chilake is a true politician and could easily have been modeled after many of the notorious individuals we see in today’s news. He is not entirely unlikable, which leave me vested as to what might be his ultimate fate. As a master manipulator, he does not imagine that anything could cost him his presidency.
The fast pace of much of the book kept me glued to the pages. Mr. Bowen has created a galaxy that I wanted to be part of. There are many comparisons, some thinly veiled, to today’s world. One can readily see that this science fiction future might not be far off from what the future really will be without major changes on the world front.
My recommendation? If you like science fiction with action, politics and a tiny bit of romance, you will enjoy this book. I know I did.

Challenging, dark, mysterious, reflective, sad, and tense.
Medium-paced
Plot- or character-driven? Character
Strong character development? Yes
Loveable characters? It's complicated
Diverse cast of characters? Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
3.75 ⭐
This story is basically about a woman that was deemed a menace to society (the Union), put in prison that was out in the Darkness (run by the Kamdo) and left there to to rot...hopefully to die, and disappear from the consiousness of the public.
Well, guess what? She escaped (during an unrelated riot). She escapes with a "gun runner" named Messiah (yeah, I thought that was odd, too). When she finds out that he's a "gun runner" she and him have words (and other forms of diagreement).
We learn about other characters within this book, but none of them (for me) found a foundation within the story. There is the President of the Union (cannot remember his name), and I know that he'll be important in subsequent stories.
There are other characters that are important (it seems), but for now...there importance is shrouded in unknowns.
The main thing is that Messiah found out who the protagonist really is...and now he's really scared that he's messed up "big time".
In the next book, Three Zero, will be the search for Kayla McGann.

Fantastic romp in a galactic playground
A classic tale in space, hundreds, if not thousands of years in the future. Reminiscent of a blend of Star Wars and Trek, but with unique political structures, and racial divides. Humans are governed by a User, who at first seem to be the faction of law and order, but signs point to a reversal of who the guys in white hats are vs the guys in black hats. I don't want to go too much further and release spoilers.
Suffice to say that the author has done a wonderful job at character development and background, without overwhelming the reader with dry (made up) galactic history.
Do yourself a favor, purchase the entire story in one go. You'll end up paying more if you buy her series one by one, because you will want to read it all, right to the very end.

A fine start!
I picked up this book as part of a Black Friday offer, and I’ve finished it in a single morning. The scene is set, and I have no doubt the other books in the series will be equally as engaging; so far, we’ve seen only a small glimpse of the wider universe.
There are a few typos in places, but I’ve seen much worse in books I’ve paid significant amounts for :)

Excellent start
This is a really good first book in the series. It's gritty and serious which is just how I like my science fiction. It sort of reminds me of Stephen Donaldson's Gap series, except easier to read. I certainly feel encouraged to read the rest of the series.

I bought this on a whim and, while it’s not awful, it’s way too long, is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors and needs a good edit. It’s mostly cliched story is entertaining enough though and it’s a quick read. I’m guessing it’s self published.

A Story worth Following.
As reading this first book I found i would like to see how the main character goes on her journey. After her trials and tribulations.

Really good start to a series, they are shorter reads but a good approach the genre - gritty and detailed with no filters, I am enjoying the series.

This is book one of the Hadrians Gate series of Sci Fi novels from a new author to me Georgia Knight.
It took me a few pages to get used to Georgia's writing style, but the strong storyline and very graphically descriptive narrative soon had me hooked! It's not for the squeamish though, be prepared for stuff you don't normally get in your average sci fi story! A great mix of personal experiences and fictional Galactic politics keeps the interest going throughout. Georgia obviously has a wonderful imagination and is a very talented writer. I personally can't wait to read the next book in the saga.
This has to be up there in the top flight of its genre.

Kayla McGann has been sent to one of the worst prisons imaginable, where excruciating pain is served before death. I felt so bad for her in many moments. Her captors had tortured her horrendously. And when she found an opportunity to escape, she took it with both hands. I like how the writer has not held back with the description. I felt so satisfied with how she avenged her torturers.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Bring on the next chapter! Recommend it to all who love sci-fi and thriller, definitely a fun read.
