A collection of short stories and funny anecdotes, that perfectly resonates with the millennials of today's life where everyone is slogging to make ends meet at a desk job. The ones that live on peanuts and yet spend recklessly on weekends because how else would one 'relax'. And once the weekend is over, they are back to the mundanity of their lives, slowly giving way to insomnia and anxiety in hopes of life to turn exciting somehow. 🌻 The witty and humorous way in which the everyday life of an average office-goer is described especially in a city like Bangalore make the stories all the more interesting and relatable. From topics such as teenage crushes to the hypocrisy of Indian society where a girl is expected to adhere to a 6 pm curfew, to problems of a daily commute and living a life buried in one's phones, the various stories touch on so many varied topics each described in a sarcastic way, that it is bound to make you laugh. 🌻 Being a millennial, living in a city like Bangalore, and willing away my days at a 9-to-5 job, made me chuckle even more! Kudos to the author for penning down such stories about ordinary life in such a lively and clever manner!

This collection of short stories is the debut of Ms. Aditi Bakshi – she has covered a wide variety of topics ranging from mundane to spiritual, to philosophical to societal judgment & discrimination and emotions.
These stories showcase a fluidity of humanity – I loved turning the pages in this short collection of stories to find myself in these words, these thoughts, and this foray of emotions. The reader ends up recognizing pieces of their thought processes in the words between the pages, if not all; then definitely some of them.
As with all short story collections – I wasn’t able to read this one in one sitting – it’s an issue with me, I need time to process the myriad of emotions that the collections tend to arouse in me – so this collection, a total of 63 pages still took me time to get through.
But it is also a collection that I do believe the Indian millennials would love to read – for it would show that the feelings that have, the thoughts and opinions they come under doesn’t mean that they are alone in this world!
Beautiful eye catching elegant cover. A very thin handy book of 70 pages that has powerful bold unapologetic ways of describing the harsh truth of our so called modern society. The hypocracy that goes through people 's blood and mind that the author has presented in sarcastic ways ornamenting with appropriate words at places makes this book a thing of beauty. . .
From the splash of nostalgic memories of teenage love to every day struggle of an ordinary Good Daughter's coming back not late than 6 pm to getting unwelcomed humping of dirty minded men in crowdy buses, various chapters in the book touch all such incidents that add to happiness and agony of daily ordinary life. Through her sharing of her own incidents of life she asks us to think how will we choose to live our life if we knew the day was the last one we have. It talks about coping with depression as well.
Unique book that is a non-fiction without genre but one that covers everything we go through in our life , from daily incidents to our complex thinking process. . .
Absolutely not doubt a very nice book at such an affordable cost with excellent page quality , binding , cover , font. .
A book with beautiful short stories for every person out there who is either dealing with financial crisis, depression, abuse, mental torture, relationship issues etc.
As the book itself says that it is without any genre, I was more intrigued to read it. The book deals with the day to day issues of the youth and brings out the subjects and topics which are quite relatable. The author tends to share her personal and professional experiences through the stories, which makes the reader feel connected to the book. I noticed that many stories rhymed and sometimes it felt as if I was reading a beautiful poem. The stories had a touch of poetry and merging story and poetry together is a unique concept.
My personal favourite story was the GOOD GIRL, which was so apt. I was instantly connected to the story and was totally imagining myself as the so called Good Girl. It definitely is what every girl is taught to be.
I absolutely loved the book and the way author explained the complex life situations in a lucid and fun manner. It is a short read with amazing stories. The language is easy and understandable and the book is well paced.
As you see, this book has no genre- it’s different, genuine and unique. I don’t think any book like this has ever been written. It’s just that the Author has shared about her personal and professional life, how she sees and feels about things and people around her. Reading it makes such an instant connection with the Author- as if she trusts you no matter what and just takes out all she ever experiences and felt about life. The language is lucid which makes your reading effortless. Everything is so crisp an sweet about the stories in this book- just that I wished it didn’t end so quick and was a little more descriptive. But that doesn’t show up much because this book is worth it and perfect for a light read :) I rate it a 4.5/5 and definitely recommend it for a light read.
This book! Oh God, this book! It's thin, it's short, it's a collection of thoughts and anecdotes. And maybe because of this, it carries so much weight and packs such an almighty punch! I just finished reading it and I can't feel my heart. Almost cried my eyes out and before I could recover, another jab. Wow! Love it!
Big, big thanks to the author for sending me a review copy!
A Book That is Relatable An Offbeat Yellow Back A book without a genre. By Aditi Bakshi Publisher: Notionpress.com Price: Rs 110 Pages: 67
An Offbeat Yellow Back – A book without a genre by Aditi Bakshi is the author’s debut book that deals with varied subjects which the modern day youth faces in their everyday mundane life and the subjects and topics are quite relatable. The author should be praised for identifying these topics and mentioning them as short narration in each chapter. The book is divided into several chapters, each chapter identifying one such topic which is common among the modern day Youth and is discussed in a witty tone. Each chapter and topic is short and crisp written in about 700 to 800 words, good for those who are new to reading with shorter attention span. The writing pattern needs to be worked upon to match up to our expectation. There are too many topics and anecdotes compiled in one single book. The book cover is well thought and articulated. Overall the book is a well try from a first time author. The book is available in Amazon, Flipkart, and Infibean. Link Amazon: https://www.amazon.in/Offbeat-Yellow-...
Blurb- An Offbeat Yellow Back is a collection of stories and anecdotes for readers with short attention span and lack of time.
My take on the book- This book is super short. The book is 67 pages long, but those 67 pages were more than enough. The stories were so relatable and covered small as well as some serious topics like a simple ride in a cab to depression. The words were easy to grasp. I could related myself to each and every story but some of my favourite stories were living with depression, insomnia, taking her for granted. I loved each story but the before mentioned stories were like writer jotted down my life in words. They were just perfect. The way she wrote about depression was marvelous. The topic Insomnia was written in a single page, yes, you read that right it was a single page but that was so so accurate and on point which was so relatable. Now talking about taking her for granted this story was about a mother daughter relationship. This particular story is replica of my relationship with my mother and its not only me many of you could relate to the story. When i completed this story i had a huge smile on my face and this is where i knew i love this book. I recommend this collection of short stories to each and everyone. I'm sure you'll love it, as there are less books/stories which you can relate to and this book does that for you. Here’s the link where you can buy this book-
An offbeat yellow back is a collection of multiple short stories. It is a multi-genre or a no genre book. Each story talks about a freshly brewed topic that any millennial can relate to. I liked how the stories are 3-4 pages long and talk about so much in those few pages. The problems encountered in our daily lives are comfortably incorporated in the book. The sarcasm and humor is something to witness. Reading this book was more like having a conversation with a friend, who is illustrating the highs and lows of their life and sharing the experiences with you. This book was a pure delight to read. The stories were short and relatable, and it was a pleasant read. It talks about topics ranging from crushes, relationships to the heavy burden of being the "good girl". More harsh realities and put to perspective in her books that are at times left unsaid. Sensitive topics like depression are also talked about in a subtle manner in the book. At moments when you feel trapped in a reading block or when you can't read a lot, you can pick this book up and read it in one go and feel confident about your reading. I enjoyed the book as it stood different from the monotonous genres and stories and concepts and was something fresh and delightful. If you are a beginner and even a hard-core reader, I would recommend you to give this book a chance.
An Offbeat Yellow Black by is said to be a book without genre. It's a crisp and a delightful read to say the least. It's a book of "seventy-six wonderfully written" pages. The book is an archive of various stories. It's very relatable to all of us out there. The chapter pertaining to depression is very touching and a well thought one. It happens to be my favourite part. Not even once the book seems phony or out of depth. KUDOS to for such a lovely book. Do read this book (ESPECIALLY ALL THE LADIES OUT THERE). It's a 5/5 A perfect book to gift it to someone.
This book is more about the journeys, experiences and the life as a whole. While reading, you'll go through the emotions of all the seasons, winter, summer, and rains. But most of all, the fall. . This book is like autumn. You'll read the lines, sigh, and continue reading. It's about all things life, and also all things unlife. You'll be on a journey which doesn't have a specific destination or end, because it's not about that at all. . More than read this beautiful book, just feel it, like a soothing breeze caressing your nerves, or the waves of ocean washing your feet. Beautiful.
If you are a reader and need a break from reading genres then here is a book 'without genre’ for you. An Offbeat Yellow Back by Aditi Bakshi is a book that you will love to read; light and real. It is a book with beautiful cover with an eye-catching title.
Various chapters in this fiction can be easily related to our daily lives. While reading this book, sometimes, i felt like i was talking or listening to a friend’s story. Well, for me this book is absolute delight.
♥ An Offbeat Yellow Back by Aditi Bakshi ♥ • • The moment I got this book in my mailbox, I fell in love with the pastel colours and the delicate yet gorgeous cover of the book. I couldn’t wait to read it and so I finished it in less than an hour. • • The book as it’s title suggest- has no genre, but I think that’s the beauty of it. The author speaks about various things in the book - some trivial yet annoying problems we face in today’s world, she has also touched upon some women issues, some random topics like rain, insomnia, depression etc. • • The book is beautifully divided into 5 parts and my favourite one is part 4 - The Opinionated Anecdotes where the author talks about some real life experiences we face today. • • I love the authors thought process. No fancy plots, characters, storyline - just simple narration of reality. I enjoyed the book thoroughly! I wish to read more books of this genre called - no genre.
