Sci-fi junkie, video game nerd, and wannabe manga artist Erin Hayes writes a lot of things. Sometimes she writes books.
She works as an advertising copywriter by day, and she's a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author by night. She has lived in New Zealand, Hawaii, Texas, Alabama, and now San Francisco with her husband, cat, and a growing collection of geek paraphernalia.
You can reach her at erinhayesbooks@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to chat. Especially if you want to debate Star Wars.
If it is a collection, anthology or box set I am always reading them and hoping that I find new authors to read! I must say I did find a couple new to me authors that I will be following and reading from now on. This is a great collection of reverse harem stories surrounding the Twelve days of Christmas.
Of a Feather - Blaire Edens This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be following more of her works
Blood Sealed - Tina Glasneck I have read everything this author has solo written, I haven't gotten to her mystery books that are co-written. I loved this prequel of sorts that gives us the settings for her new series she is wanting to write. The slow burn was perfect as it gives us the perfect time to get to know everyone.
Laid by Me - Laura Greenwood I love the Me series because the books can all be read as standalones. This book has a small reference from the Heard from Me book but not enough that you will be lost. I loved watching Sophie deal with inheriting her unknown fathers company and dealing with everything that comes with it. I really hope that there will be a book for us to read at the end of that year
Eight Thralls for a Crown - Amanda Sievert This is a new to me author and O-M-G I loved this short story and can not wait to see what else the author comes up with in the future
I have read anthologies in the past and this one was good to get to know new authors.
Blood Sealed is the book by Tina Glasneck that's inside this anthology and I'm reviewing that part of the anthology now.
I'm not saying much because I don't want to get into spoiler territory considering the length of this story. Sunny is the daughter of someone special. A girl that survived and will continue to survive so much. Not only that but because of who her mother is, she's destined to be even greater. The vampires are evil creatures in this book and Sunny must fight them to keep the ones she loves safe. She also has the added bonus of having three men that will accompany her in her journey against the darkness.
As a prequel to a series, this short story was well developed. It showed the reader what they could expect when it came from characters, plot, writing style, and even a possible villain. I do have to say I enjoyed reading this short book and I would like to see the story developed in the future.
Tina Glasneck writes very well and I have enjoyed her books so far. I would recommend this book from the anthology because it starts a possible new series and also because it shows a different take on vampires from what we usually see. They are not romanticized here, they are evil.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Of a Feather - 3 Stars This is a prequel, it was interesting but I’m not sure I’d pick up the series after reading it.
Blood Sealed - 3 Stars Another prequel, this contained a lot of world building, but I’m not sure I’d pick up the series.
Three Fine Men - 4 Stars Stand alone story.
Four Calling Birds - 4 Stars Stand alone story
The Five Golden Rings of Manides - 4 Stars Sequel to another of the author’s books to tie up the loose ends for the character. Worth reading for the character updates.
Laid By Me - 4 Stars Stand alone contemporary harem
Some Swans Don’t Swim - 4 Stars Sequel to another of the author’s series. Worth reading for the character updates.
Siren Song - 3 Stars Not clear if this was supposed to be a stand alone or the first of a series.
Dances with Aliens - 4 Stars First in a trilogy, I look forward to reading the next two installments.
Leaping into the Tigers’ Den - 4 Stars Stand alone paranormal story
Ocean’s Eleven Pipers - 3 Stars This is a prequel, it was interesting but I’m not sure I’d pick up the series after reading it.
The Twelve Men of Christmas - 5 Stars My favorite story in the anthology.
*Blaire Edens - Of A Feather: This book is an enjoyable start to this anthology. This is the first book of this author I have read and it was enjoyable with a strong MC.
*Tina Glasneck - Blood Sealed: I found this book a bit confusing to start. It jumps between mythologys andit is not always clear which one is being referred to. The core storyline is good and the characters interesting.
Dana Lyons - Three Fine Men: This book was ok but not something I would read. Dara Fraser - Four Calling Birds: This book was ok, fun story but probably would not read more. Erin Hayes - The Five Golden Rings of Manides: Not a bad story, designed to be a sequel it does not unfortunately make me want to read the first story.
*Laura Greenwood - Laid By Me: I really loved this book. Great characters and storyline. This is standalone book from the ME series. Fun read.
*Holly Ryan - Some Swans Don’t Swim: This is a Christmas special from the Slayer Series. I have not read this series but found the story fun and the characters easy to get into. Great story.
*Amanda Sievert - Eight Thralls for a Crown: This is a strange book for me. I don’t normally read books involving sirens. Good story thou.
Margo Bond Collins - Dances With Aliens: I found this story hard going. I persevered to the end but did not engage with the characters. I won’t be looking to read anymore in this series. Margo Bond Collins - Leaping into the Tigers Den: This book started off ok, but due to bad editing and a fractured storyline was not enjoyable. The MC changes her mind at one point with no explanation, in one chapter it’s one way and in the next it is another. Mid way thru one of the last chapters the story jumps and then jumps back. This does seem like a rushed story where there was no read thru after and definitely no spell/grammar checking. Disappointed I had been led to believe this writer was amazing and I get two stories that were hard to read and not OMG next one please. I will not be reading this author again.
*N.R.Larry - Eleven. : I enjoyed this book, good story and good characters. I would be interested in reading more.
*Ever Coming - The 12 Men of Christmas: Fun story & good characters. I enjoyed reading this and even thou there are many individuals I was able to engage with their story. The writing is good but grammar was a let down, really obvious mistakes. This did not detract from the story.
The rating of 4stars I due to the quality of the starred books. The non starred books meant that a five star rating was not possible.
Different why choose stories all with one of the 12days of Christmas. Can fulfill anyone's preference. There are contemporary, paranormal, fantasy, vampire, shifters, and gods. Some are mini prequels, up and coming or even short novels. slow burn and juicy fast burns in the collaboration. Definitely would recommend this to everyone.
I loved all of these stories. 12 Christmas themed reverse harem tales but each being different and interesting. Laid by me by Laura Greenwood was great. Sophie inherits a company from a father she never new and its comes with 5 young and attractive board members. The story was short and sweet. We got a nice twist on the six geese a laying. Definitely one of my favorites in this book.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is book with twelve reverse harem authors who put a Christmas twist on stories. There is a little something here for everyone if this is your kind of thing. I personal love reverse harem sub-genre of the romance genre. I want more of this even after there was no more to read. This was a very well put together collection.
Review for Laid By Me - Laura Greenwood Sophie Kingston has to make a lot of quick life altering decisions in this story, and most in a short time. I’d love to read more about Sophie and the guys - Emmett, Bart, Matt, Caleb and Declan.
Laid By Me is another wonderful contemporary RH book in the Me series. Laura Greenwood’s characters are very much individual and captivating.
This story can be read as a stand-alone, however it does have a mild reference to Heard From Me, so I’d recommended reading that first and the other books in the Me series.
