A new adventure with Quinn, as he and Nora get into some trouble with the 'Made' guys, Nora calling the police causing turmoil in their lives! Quinn's friends can't help him now, as some are sent to prison and all want a shot at the root of their problem!
So, it is Witness protection time, far from the comforts of Philly to the cold of Minnesota! Nora is pregnant, a 'happy' time which sends her into more mood changes than ever! Unhappy about their new living situation, she keeps Quinn on his toes while he gets interested in his new neighbors, all seem to be in the program, too!
An exciting romp through strange neighbors, deaths that start as soon as the Quinn's arrive, and an eclectic bunch of thieves and hit men, all under the guise of Witness Protection! What IS going on!?!

Wacky Private Investigator (PI) solves mystery while in witness protection.
Liam Quinn is a tough guy PI who fights with words as well as fists. After he testifies against a mafia ganster, the government puts him up in an isolated town populated with ... other individuals in witness protection!
It is a fun romp, punctuated with live ammunition in which several small town locals are murdered.
Humor is well done and frequent. For example, in describing a murder victim, Liam Quinn says "Some dude ... just had his face forcibly removed from the rest of his head via shotgun surgery."
Other offbeat comments include "one cardinal rule among mob guys it was that they didn't talk about 'This thing we do' ... and they didn't allow 'nobody for nothing' to disrespect Ol' Blue Eyes [Frank Sinatra]."
This is a series of Quinn novels. I will read more of them in the near future.

I really enjoy the 'Quinn' series from this author, especially the characters of Quinn and his wife. In this book they are relocated under the witness protection programme to a small town in Minnesota. Whilst this gives Quinn a chance to practice his trademark wisecracks on new audience but somehow it doesn't have the same comedic effect as his exchanges with his family and friends around his normal stomping grounds.
The murder mystery is handled well and the culprit is neatly concealed amongst the other potential suspects, and the showdown at the end is very exciting.
So a very good read, but slightly misses the mark compared to the earlier books in the series.

The last (?) and maybe the best of the series
Why the best? Three reasons: the banter, the mobsters, and Nora. Quinn does his best wisecracking here, and the mood is almost Runyonesque. Loved the back-and-forths between Quinn and Nora, and her involvement here as more of a main character is quite welcome.
The closest thing to Paul Levine's wonderful and whacky characters. More, please!

Good story
A New Quinn story is always a good thing as Quinn always seems to get into some mess and this one he steps into it big time !! Enjoyed it greatly , can’t wait for the next one !

Enjoyable smart-ass detective with mob ties has to flee from NY/NJ mob to Minnesota protection where there are other mobsters being protected and a series of murders.
The bad guys like to spend time explaining to Quinn when they have a gun on him.

I thought I reviewed this, but noticed that I didn't have a "Last Read Date" on Calibre and looked for it here to see when I finished. I saw the novel listed 3 times, but all as unread by me...
When I bought it, I didn't know that it was #12 in a series, but I have a grandson named Quinn. Quinn is a New York character who got the mob mad at him, mainly by being a wise-ass and then testifying. Even though mobsters owe him favors, he was sent to witness protection to a small town in Minnesota with his pregnant wife.
The town has other people in that program, along with a quick murder which he has to solve. He needs to fix things up so that he can call in favors and go home, and he keeps his wise-ass character.
Fun read. I'll lie and say I read it today.

Quinn is back in action and you will be kept wondering just who done it till the last gasp.
This series is great, it mixes humour with a who done it well.
