Fun read. This series presents the great Greek myths from the perspective of Hades who claims that Zeus' version has us seeing the reality skewed against him. In this one, Theseus is a forgetful hero that can't handle doing things the "easy" way. Easier reading level (simpler plot and vocabulary) than Percy Jackson novels.
I have read stop that bull, Theseus. Hay here's analogie for you, Hercules ( as in my last review) is to needs help as Theseus is to needs reminders. That's right Theseus was very very very... Forgetful. And very stubborn. He whould always do the hard things all... The... Time.
This book Stop that bull, Theseus! By Kate McMullan is based on Greek myths but not like those original myths this is entirely different from the original myth. This takes place in three different places Troezen, Athens, and Crete Theseus is on a mission to defeat the minotaur All made up Hades King of the Underworld comes up and set the story straight while trying to find his UFC fighters. These are the main or sub characters this include Hades King of the Underworld, Theseus, Poseidon (Hades brother), King Aegeus (Theseus Father), Procrustes (Bully), Minotaur, sciron (Bully), Sinis (Bully), and other Gods/Goddess or mortals (Cupid, Ariadne, and etc) . Hades King of the underworld is asked by his brother Poseidon to keep an eye on his son Theseus, Theseus sets off on an adventure from Troezen to Athen with Hades on their way they encounter the three big bad bullies. Moving on he goes and reaches to Athens when he arrived there he meets, Queen Madea who tries to feed him poison. Theseus than travels all the way to Asterius to defeat the minotaur if you wanna find out the ending you should read the book. My overall thought on this book is pretty good especially the ending because this is kinda similar to the real Greek Myth ending. This book was very light and humorous I think the perfect age group to read this is 13 and 14 years old. I do think that some parts were repetitive like the part where Theseus is going to Athens and is trying to defeat the Bullies (41-73 McMullan) but overall it was pretty good. My favorite quote out of this book was when Theseus forgot to bring along Ariadne and how Hades tried to cheer her up. "He's very forgetful," I told her "really. It's not you. It's him." "That is such a guy excuse," Ariadne muttered. (156 McMullan) You can find similar books like this one if you look for Kate McMullan book series that has different Greek Mythology books that are different from the original myths, some of her book in her series is called “Nice Shot, Cupid” and “Phone Home, Persephone” there are more but these are just a couple of them.
Everything is upside-down in the Myth-O-Mania world.
The "hero" Theseus is an immature gloryhound, so self-obsessed that he forgets almost everything else; Asterias, the Minotaur, is a gentle vegetarian who enjoys wrestling; and, as usual, it's Hades, Ruler of the Underworld, who sets everything straight.
Another humorous twist on Greek mythology. I enjoy Hades' perspective in these books, and how the story is changed enough that it COULD have actually gone this way instead of what we know the tales to be, because the changes are small and in the details. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Theseus is now extremely forgetful and a bit dim. I dunno. This book’s still good, but it may or may not have an ableist streak in the portrayal of Theseus. I might be reading too much into a simple funny mythology retelling.
It wasn’t a bad book. Comparing to the other books in the series… it just wasn’t my favorite. I agree with Hermes in the epilogue, …and then what? Like there’s more here and ir felt really condensed- could have been a few more chapters of real story!
Stop That Bull, Theseus! Is the fifth series of Myth-O-Mania by Kate McMullan. This is about Hades’ brother Po, his son Theseus’ adventure story. At last Theseus became a hero with Hades’ help. (Even though Hades didn’t want to)
You may want to ask why Theseus needs help from Hades, I’ll use Hades’ words to say ‘It is Theseus who gave a new meaning to ‘I forget’’. (Theseus always forget things) So Hades has to help Theseus out as soon as he got into trouble. The story begins when Po asked Hades to look after his son Theseus for a few days, and Hades did. But he never have imagine that Theseus was so hard to handle, Theseus was very bad at remembering things, so Hades had to follow Theseus around all the time. And the worst is Theseus enjoys to does the ‘Hard work’, he would do all the hard ways instead of doing the easy thing. As they went off to clay the monsters, Theseus kept making the job hard for Hades. It is fun to know how Hades thought about Theseus.
This book is as funny as a joke, I liked it a lot. My Myth-O-Mania series’ review are going to end soon, I haven’t find any book to read yet.
This is the fifth book in the Myth-O-Mania series by Kate McMullan. These books are fun to read and have a youthful and humorous perspective that makes it simple for people to remember the various characters and their stories.
This book offers a humorous take on the story of Theseus - we really enjoyed the wit and wry sarcasm. The tale was rendered with enough fidelity to recognize the story, but it was still a very different version. It's an entertaining and quick read.
This book is so cute! I love the fact that someone has given Hades a "good guy" part to play- FINALLY!!
I like this series, good, fast and fun summer reading!
We all know the story of Theseus and Ariadne, but is it the True story. Well King Hades, Ruler of the Underworld is here to tell you that it is not the true story but just some rubbish his little brother Zeus came up with. You see Theseus was a hero, but he had this little thing called "short term memory loss". And the dreaded Minotaur- he was a sweet guy named Asterius.
Lots of favorite characters romp these pages as we again meet the Queen of the underworld P-phone (Persephone) and the furies (Tisi is my favorite). Procrustes, Sinis and others bullies provide wrestling companions for the absent minded Theseus and Po (Poisidon) is in this one too! One of my favorite Greek gods Dionysis makes a quick appearance and so does King Aegeus (I like the "original" idea for the naming of the Aegean sea!)
this is a book about greek myths from hadies's point of view. This one is about thesius and the bull. First hadies helps thesus get rid of the big bullies and they sighn underworld wresteling contract. He then goes to the laberinth and wrestels the minotour.
I can make a text to text connection to this book In the book thesus loved to wrestel and would wrestel everyone. In the show WWE smack down all is is is extream wresteling.
I would reccomend this book to people of all ages. It is writen very well and keeps your atention very well. you cant put the book down. I would give this book 5 stars
This is totally different than the original myth. It starts out with Hades accompany Theseus because Poseidon ask him because he believe that Theseus is his son. They are going to the king who Theseus thinks is his father. On the road he defeat 3 bully but obvioulsy not by himself. He is really forgetful and after he finally find the king, he decide to take on the minotaur.
Another highly enjoyable installment in the Myth - o- Maniac series, this time focusing on Theseus. Given that I really, passionately disliked Theseus in mythology, he gets off way too easy here. And it was not the most amusing of the series, but still worth a read. And I rather liked that Theseus is extraordinarily stupid.....
2.5 stars

Light and humorous. Picked it up for my 10-year old son to read, and I read it in a couple of hours on my own as well. I learned some new things about the Theseus myth even though this is an obvious departure from the original. I probably won't read any more books in the series, but I would recommend them to kids based on this one.
I love this series...just great couple of hours reads. Find myself learning about mythology painlessly. I consider these like the sherbert palate cleanser between courses...just a lovely little bite.
I didn't care for this story. It was repetitive and did not have the easy fast-paced flow of the previous stories. I hope the next book about Pandora will be better.
