An M/M age-play romance.

Michael knows what he wants. He wants a daddy.

When yet another attempt at a relationship fails, Michael decides to find himself his daddy. The one man that will care for him, nurture him, and love him for who he is. Twenty-six-year-old and successful in his career, Michael knows he’s missing out on life. He’s a quiet, introverted man with desires that seem too far out of his reach. Until he goes to Escape one night.

Callum is tired of being lonely. He has everything to offer the right man.

When forty-year-old Callum is encouraged to visit Escape, his hopes are high, but his expectancy of finding the perfect man is low until he sees a young man nervously looking around the club. Everything about him ticks Callum’s boxes. Shorter than his six-foot frame with blond curls that cry out to be stroked, and a look of anxious longing on his face. Callum is transfixed.
With only a few words exchanged, the two men are hooked, eager to explore everything they have ever dreamed of. Is this a life they can fulfill, or will they find too many obstacles in their way?

My Kind of Man is an age-play story and contains M/M sexual content, spankings, age play, ABDL.

I can do sugary sweet just fine, but OMG, this was sugar overload.

I love a daddy who takes care of his boy, but when the boy is all in from the start and there’s no conflict whatsoever, I get bored.

At least give me a boy who has to be coaxed to try new things. Not one who jumps on the diaper train immediately.

This isn't my kink, but this book is an exceptionally good exploration of the whole ABDL Daddy/little world.

It never strays in to uncomfortable territory and the relationship between Callum and Mikey is built on mutual respect and understanding of the other's needs.

Chemistry between the pair is very well done, the connection both sexual and emotional is easily seen through the writing. I firmly believed in them as a couple.

There's a bit of drama which did feel a little bit plot for plot's sake to cause tension and Mikey has a bit of a crisis of confidence in himself and his capability to be the little Callum needs at the 75% mark.

Overall though, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to expand their kink horizons and I hope we get the stories of the rest of the group too.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I was looking for an easy and kinky read, and this book fit those needs perfectly. I found it to be a pretty enjoyable read and it certainly fit the kinky part of what I was looking for. My biggest complaint is that, for me at least, one of the hottest scenes wasn't even between the two main characters. I don't even care that while they were apart there was an OM scene, but the fact that it felt like that was one of the main kinky/ageplay scenes made me feel very meh about the couple.

This was mid. I had fun times and I also had bad times. The scenes them being Daddy/Little were perfect. I liked them a lot I even cried at some sweet parts. Just like how I like it. Overload sweetness. But the plotline and how it was executed was ridiculous. Miscommunication was stupid. And then Michael found a temporary Daddy in the time they fought and had an on page “little scene” with that guy 🥲 and stupid arguments that made me roll my eyes couple times.

This book had so many negative story telling and representation. Which one of the reason I couldn’t enjoy this better. The only good thing in this book was them both. Everyone else seems to be so uptight and judgemental.

This was very sweet age play ABDL romance. This is my second time reading this type of kink, and inadvertently I was comparing it to the one I read before but it hit me in the middle of the book that every author gives it their own spin, so as soon as I forgot about the other book I read, I was able to enjoy this one to the fullest.

I liked Callum a lot. He is so caring, gentle and kind. He took care of Michael/Mikey so well. His protectiveness and nurturing was in perfect counterpoint with Michael's need to be cared for and looked after. Daddy/Little time took a bit to get used to since they did it 24/7 but it worked well for them. It was a good balance of Daddy/Little headspace and intimate scenes between Michael and Callum.

Michael craved approval for his desires. He took a leap of faith with Callum, and it paid off after a couple of hiccups. He was a natural when it came to being Little but I wondered sometimes at how emotional he was. Since he was a loner, his need to be praised and taken care of was a bit more intense, and Callum was able to provide it in full, I would say Callum prided himself on the level of care he gave Michael.

I enjoyed all the side characters, and I especially liked that among their friends both Michael and Callum never had to hide, it was natural for them to be open about how they loved each other, and their friends were understanding about their needs. I am curious how other members of Heavy Load going to find their HEA. I recommend it!

Michael is a little and is desperately in need of a Daddy who will accept him completely.

Tonight will be the night, he picked up all his strength and courage, put on his little clothes, and enters the BDSM club Escape where there’s a Daddy’s night.

Callum got an invitation, from his friend Daniel, for the Daddy night at the BDSM club. There are some new members and this friend told him there will be a perfect boy/little for him. He was correct, one look and they both know this is it.

After the best intense weekend where Michael could be Mikey and Callum full-time Daddy, they want to continue their relationship. All goes extremely well until something happens and Michael runs away.

The author took all the time to write every detail of their relationship, it’s quite well developed. With an engaging way of writing, good outlined, clear, and focused the story was a delight. The focus is on their relationship but we also meet some wonderful friends. The addition of some painful, hurtful moments was palpable which I loved greatly. All the scenes were exciting, there was a nipple scene so delicious painful, I felt it myself. Both men were sweet, lovable, and beautifully flawed. The whole learning process felt honest and convincing. I was glued to the pages.

This was my very first ABDL read, it was an amazing experience, the author did I great job.

Welp….. this was not a hit for me. This book was kind of hard to finish and read through. I do believe it had it’s sweet moments, but it was kind of boring and cringe.

I think Callum and Michael/Mikey relationship was rushed. I do understand that because of their lifestyle things move faster than in another type of relationship. But they literally said I love you two weeks after meeting. I don’t know. It just wasn’t credible that they loved each other and that they had a connection.

On another note, in my humble opinion, the conflicts were pointless. I saw them as fillers and they didn’t really change the book plot for me.

I don’t necessarily think the book is bad, I just think it’s not for me. I’ve read age-play MM books before, but this one didn’t give what had to be given, in my humble opinion.

Anyways, y’all just be happy and be you, be free, and be whatever you want to be! I didn’t enjoy this book, but maybe you will. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️ Toodles!

I loved the premise of this... age gap/age play and daddy kink is new to me, but I find myself really enjoying the relationship between a daddy and his boy....
This one, sadly... did not work for me. Mostly because of my own hangups of a main character sleeping with someone else after establishing a relationship with the other main character. I don't like cheating or in this instance, in one line of a paragraph, they were broken up and a month had gone by, just by saying.... now, it's a month later... and then the boy sleeps with and has a scene with someone else at a club. I didn't like that and the book lost major points with me on that.

I also didn't like the writing style... as much as it kills to say that, because as I writer, I know that mine isn't for everyone either.... but, saying "a month later" mid sentence, or "it's been three days" when literally one line ago we were in current time.... It messed up the flow of the story for me and I couldn't get it back.

The relationship between Callum and Michael/Mikey was cute and I enjoyed them together for the most part. I thought Mikey was a bit overly dramatic and overreacted quite a bit, but some instances, I guess it was warranted.
I liked the idea of them together and I liked how they didn't just jump into the relationship after their first meeting.

Callum's brother Declan and his wife were terrible and though I liked that Callum didn't let them walk all over him like they tried to do... I thought they could've pushed back a bit harder.... They were truly nasty people and I'd have liked to have seen a little more karmic justice ... I mean, they did deserve it and then some.

Then, the ending.... Callum had just said he'd like to see him and Michael married one day, but not yet.... next line, out of nowhere... Marry me! Be my husband.... and then next line... it's over. Like.... no lead up, nothing... just wham, bam, over....
I dunno.... maybe I'm just being picky, but I just don't think this one was for me.

Marking this one down as a DNF for me.

Too sugary sweet, too quick jumping into ABDL lifestyle (I mean, they go all in without discussing things or setting any boundaries or nothing), and just something about the writing felt like not an easy, natural flow of words?

I think as I read more of this kink, I'm finding that for me personally I mostly like when littles/ABDL is a part time, not a full-time, lifestyle.

Age play (Daddy/Little) and ABDL (Adult Baby Diaper Lover). I was hoping to get a better understanding of these kinks. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen for me here.

Overall I found the plot to be silly. Throw in the whole non stop babysitting and I was beginning to get bored, just like I did when I used to babysit.

If you’ve ever cared for an adult in diapers, ... I just can’t wrap my head around it.

All of the easy acceptance is a total farce. Reality is so much different. I guess I was looking for more real and less Babies R Us.

No more changing diapers for me, I’m done.

Re-read 9/2/19: still liked the relationship dynamic here -- I'm so glad there's another book with these guys to read finally!

Pretty good age-play story. A few uneven spots, but that's maybe just me being nit-picky. I really liked how Michael and Callum went back and forth between Daddy/little and adults in their relationship. I'd love to read more about the other couples from the club!

Addendum: I've just looked up J.J. Harper's books and their reviews. Has this author become a much better writer in the past year? Have they gotten better beta-readers and editors? Or is it just that I like age-play so much that I've overlooked something? Let me know, 'cause now I'm really confused...

Mike is tired of trying to find someone that understands his needs, he never imagined it would be so hard to find a Daddy. After having no luck, he decides to try a club and see if he can find a Daddy that needs a boy. Callum's last relationship ended after his boy cheated on him. Since then he has had no interest in finding a new boy, he's lonely but obviously gun shy of getting hurt again. When he gets a call saying that there is a Daddy night and that he must attend, he picks up on the clues his friend is giving him. For Mike, coming on Daddy night was supposed to give him a look into the lifestyle and see just what Daddy's are out there. Callum is everything that Mike is looking for in a Daddy, Mike just hopes that he can be the boy that Callum needs. Will the two be the perfect pairing?

So, I missed the little part at the bottom that says this is ABDL: Adult Baby Diaper Lover. I will accept full responsibility for this mistake that I made, and for some this may be a thing you enjoy.... for me it was a thing I ignored and acted like it wasn't even happening. I won't even let my rating reflect my distaste for that particular kink. Instead, let's talk about the good and the bad. I did enjoy the whole daddy kink aspect, I have read loads of these before and see the appeal. Who wouldn't want someone that takes care of their every need, who makes the choices when you just don't want to. As someone who makes choices all day everyday, I would love this to a certain extent. For Mike it was an outlet from the stresses of work and for Callum it was a need in him that was appeased to take care of his boy. This had a good story line, with very engaging characters. I didn't like the side track that this story took after Mike and Callum had their tiff, but can't really get into that without spoiling more. But I will say that was right at the line of a hard limit for me. All in all this was an ok story of a guy trying to find another guy that will give him what he needs and gives his guy the same in return and their story of how they make that work. I give this 3.5 stars.

What a great read!

First off, I love Mikey and Callum. These guys are perfect for each other. What sets this story apart is how even though it was obvious from the start, it still took work. Also, it shows how, even with the same kink, each relationship is different. The author showed how the level of trust, respect, and communication is built for a strong long lasting couple. I can't wait to read more from AG Silver.

My Kind of Man (ARC) has been graciously provided to me by the author for an honest review. I voluntarily read it and have provided my honest review.

"Through Comfort and Love Comes Peace.."

A warm, comfortable, soothing blanket on a cold winter's night..is just the type of read I always am in the mood for, especially when the weather begins to turn cooler, and, well..it's always a welcomed feeling to be able to snuggle up with a comforting good book.  As that love-of-warmth had recently invaded my being, I welcomed a new opportunity to read an upcoming new book from an author who I've read before and have thoroughly enjoyed, and, because of the chances being that this new book, would also be a good read, I jumped right in.  With an eagerness of another good book, I began reading a new book from JJ Harper, pen-name A.G. Silver.  As this author has written a new book containing a new daddy/little trope, I look forward to reading as it is one of my favorite tropes within one of my most favorite genres.  And...let's not forget the obvious..the cover is absolutely beautiful, as it's almost always one of the first things that catches a reader's eye, that is for sure.  So, needlessly-to-say, I was greedily excited to start reading this book, especially since it is one of my favorite tropes within a super-favorite genre..

My Kind of Man, by A.G. Silver, is a gay romance with a daddy/little (age/play) lifestyle, with moments of D/s as well.  It is a story about two men desperately looking for that one person who would be able to complete them, one who would be able to understand their wants and desires for that peaceful and satisfying life.  Each having different kinds-of-desires, but both having that same one underneath their initial attraction as well.  I was immediately able to connect with Michael as a sweet, kind, and incredibly intelligent man, one who bravely sets out on a quest to locate The One.  The One who would be able to fill a multitude of hats.  On this journey, as hope slowly begins to fizzle for this courageous man, like honey to a bee..his eyes come upon..Callum.  Callum is an equally comfort-seeking man who is looking for that someone he'd be able to spread his nurture-seeking innate qualities with to the highest degree.  As each man comes upon quite possibly the answer to their deepest and necessary of desires, a tidal wave of emotions barrels through each of them..as hope begins to make its presence..

My Kind of Man, by A.G. Silver, a first from this author of this trope, is a deeply-filled story, one that is to be considered as a heart-warming, angst-filled, heart-breaking, emotional read, that despite this, was somewhat of a slow-burn for this reader due to some questionable and confusing areas.  It is, on the other hand, a story filled with love, soothing comfort, as well as a whole lot of sizzling times as well.  As it may not be for every reader, it is one that would be able to satisfy those who are looking for a story heavily laden with a daddy/little lifestyle with extra moments of D/s interlaced with a physical relationship as well.  It is a lengthy insta-love kind-of-story, and it does take the reader through a seemingly well-rounded relationship between these two men.

As mentioned briefly, I have always enjoyed stories containing this kind of trope, and, for this reason, found this story to be extremely welcoming and comforting as well, albeit a bit confusing, at times, due to the detailed and lengthy interlapping of the storyline as a whole.  I did, though, feel such love and relief for Michael as he had found ways to find the comfort and peace his soul had so very much needed and had desired.  I had equally felt such happiness for Callum as he ultimately had found such a wonderful, warm, and, perfect man after so many years of being in the lifestyle.  My emotions did wind up going through the gamut throughout this story, as I read through all of the ups and downs for these two good men.

That being said, I did, however, at times, also have a difficult time with the writing of this story.  As mentioned, it did contain many different avenues.  Individually, they're all super great to read.  Interweaving all of them together..was a bit confusing to adequately distinguish each of them as well as collectively as part of a smoothly-written plot within a fabulous storyline.  There were times when it was a challenge to distinguish between the physical relationship and the lifestyle along with who actually was enjoying each moment.  It is also believed, in this readers opinion, that while there was a lot of depth to the plot, as a whole, there was also a need for more depth and development of not only the characters, but, also of the relationship between the two men and of all of the components as well.

One of the positive aspects of My Kind of Man, were the secondary characters.  They had such a great affect upon the storyline that they had this reader eagerly reading through difficult-to-read-moments just to be able to reach that answer to that surprising and joyous twist that had me screaming out-loud at all hours of the night..

Even though there were confusing glitches, a need for more of a distinction between the men and their lifestyles, and another round through the editing process, there were many times when I had actually cheered, wept, and felt such happiness and relief for both Michael and Callum, that as a whole, had enjoyed reading My Kind of Man, and, look forward to re-visiting this genre and trope again very soon..:)

TRICKS OF THE LIFESTYLE

This is about finding the man meant only for you. In certain circumstances only one will do. It has to be the perfect match. Callum and Michael find each other at Escape. An exclusive club for men who have a taste for something different, something more. This is a story about finding yourself and taking what you want. Living in a world that will never be understood, but being brave enough to live that way. This relationship was funny, sweet and beautiful at its core. It's a choice I don't think I understand but I love reading about it. Great job JJ HARPER, at some points I laughed out loud. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!

Call it a personal hangup

But when Mikey says he's not over Callum, then does a scene with someone else? Just, no. SORRY, but that made it a DNF for me. Although the writing is good, I also didn't get a real feel for the characters.

2.5 stars, rounded up

Idk man, this book was a miss for me. Which is a shame, because normally ageplay and abdl are my jam.

Don't get me wrong, it's a well-written book, and I think it will appeal to a lot of people interested in the aforementioned kinks. But several parts of the story bugged me in ways I couldn't ignore.

The MCs
Michael is 26 and Callum is 40. As with most ageplay books, there's the May/December thing going on, which I'm into. I especially like how MKoM has this element without it being a cradle-robbing situation (seriously, it squicks me out when the submissive is always just barely 18).

That being said, while I appreciate how Callum didn't rescue Michael off the mean streets, and the latter was actually *gasp* established in a well-paying career, I felt like the author tried too hard to put the MCs on an even playing field.

This is a matter of personal preference, of course. I understand how real-life power imbalances (outside the kink aspect of things) can be inherently problematic. But they're also quite realistic (at least in personal experience). Power imbalance is an issue I'd rather see delved into than side-stepped in fiction, but I realize that's a personal preference of mine. In short: there's no shame in wanting to be rescued from squalor by a sugar daddy.

The MCs (and the supporting characters) were all bourgie AF. I kid you not, there's a scene where Michael and Callum bond over the fact that they both drive a Mercedes. I get that they earned their respective fortunes through hard work and innovation and all of those other capitalistic buzzwords, but I was already silently chanting "eat the rich" 1/5 of the way through. Am I being petty? Absolutely.

The Conflict
This is where the book really went pear-shaped, and it's not just me.

tl;dr Give it a read, see for yourself. Some parts (kinks aside) might bug you. *shrugs*

A Special Kinky Kind of Love!

Business partner Mikey & business owner Callum meet, swap kinks and fall in Love. I have mixed feelings about this tale. I liked the MCs and the storyline, which has the usual ups and downs of a developing relationship.
However, I’m a bit uncomfortable about some aspects of this particular kink. I can’t help thinking the company “Heavyload!” has a double meaning as it pertains to Mikey’s specific kink. Anywho, it’s an interesting composite of being a “Little” with a side of love. Rating: 3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️’s

I enjoy a good Daddy kink, probably not quite into age play, but hey it’s perfect for others ! This was the journey of Callum and Mikey who totally adored each other. Mikey had been hoping for so long and after meeting Callum he knew he’d found his perfect Daddy

Unfortunately this one didn't work as well as I'd have liked. I found the characters two dimensional and the dialog unrealistic and repetitive.

The story saves it for me though, and there was no way I wasn't going to finish it.

This is a little outside my usual recommendation because, to be honest, the material is not usually within my wheelhouse. However, if you’ve ever wanted a glimpse into the unique lifestyle of ABDL (Adult Baby – Diaper Lover) I couldn’t think of a better place to start than AG Silver’s My Kind of Man. JJ Harper’s pseudonym attacks the material with care, compassion and respect while conveying the intimate bond two men share.

As with any lifestyle and those couples within it, this is but one author’s portrayal of a “kink” that is practiced to many varying degrees. But this reader must say it opened my eyes to the pleasure and protection one might feel… and isn’t that what reading is about? Creating a way for us to connect with the uniqueness and feelings of others?

What strikes me in My Kind of Man is that both Michael Steadman and Callum Peverell know who they want, what they desire in a relationship and their sexuality – and they seek it! But just because they know, doesn’t mean it will be easy.

As both men get to know each other Silver does a wonderful job of displaying Michael’s easy transition to Mikey. His little persona is just so much a part of who he is that it’s a natural extension of himself. From his actions to his speak, he’s just comfortable. Yet at the same time he’s still trying to accept that this desire to be Mikey is not “stupid” or wrong. I found his self-doubt a little frustrating at times but I came to realize it is a part of his growth and it also affords his Daddy the ability to reassure him.

It’s no different for Callum who totally fits the father figure, the dominant who wants to comfort, care and nurture. But even a confident man can have his moments and Callum finds himself needing to own his role. As Silver unfolds their power dynamic you can’t disagree that these two men were meant for each other.

…if you’ve ever wanted a glimpse into the unique lifestyle of ABDL (Adult Baby – Diaper Lover) I couldn’t think of a better place to start than AG Silver’s 'My Kind of Man’. JJ Harper’s pseudonym attacks the material with care, compassion and respect while conveying the intimate bond two men share.

Most important for me is the fact that the author perfectly displays to the reader the comfort one might derive from being a little, as Michael tells Callum, “’I know I’m not looking for a father figure. I’ve never wanted or needed one. It’s more a matter of finding the real world difficult and the desire to turn it all off and let someone else look after me. Being a little satisfies a craving inside me to be nurtured.’” Who can’t relate to wanting to shut out the world and let someone take care of everything for them?

When a lapse in judgment, fear and misguided hurt lead to misunderstanding the results are almost child-like and yet so much within the rolls Michael and Callum identify themselves. Both have wanted this twenty-four-seven lifestyle for so long and now they are going to have to claim it in order to build the future they want. Can a little stay strong in his convictions? Can a Daddy be everything his little needs?

My Kind of Man is a story of a developing relationship and two men confident in their desire yet learning to identify, accept and live with what that means, individually and as a couple. It’s a journey in finding the confidence in who they are, what they want and where they want to go.

And as with any novel AG Silver’s alter ego writes, she’s set the stage for this world to continue. We can only hope she’ll do a spin-off and clue us into what goes on under the lacy bits with Nate and Jem!

This was my first dip into the world of ABDL/age play and I didn't know if I would like it... but I did! I actually loved this book so much I found it hard to put down. It is brilliantly written with wonderful characters who come to life on the page.

Mikey (Michael) was looking for a certain type of Daddy but no one ever came close. Callum had given up trying to find the perfect Little as no one really fit what he was looking for. One night they both visited the club Escape in the hope of finding that perfect someone, their eyes met and they both hoped life was about to change. They seemed to click instantly, both being what the other was looking for. The story leads us through the ups and downs of a new relationship, with Mikey always feeling the need to run when things didn't go as planned, which left Callum wondering what he'd done wrong or if Mikey was in fact the right person for him. Both being highly successful business men their worlds inevitably come together over a business deal and bring them back together after a misunderstanding that left them both desperately unhappy. I loved that Michael's friends and one of his business partners were brought into the story, one of them unexpectedly and I hope to see a book two about Jem!

I highly recommend this book even if you don't think that this is your sort of thing, as like me, I'm sure you will find it a rewarding read.

I liked how this started, a confident little meets a daddy at the bar and they hit things off right away. Michael is the silent business partner of a very successful business which he started with some college friends although you don't find that out until later. He's an introvert who prefers to work at home. Callum runs an advertising business. The thing that kind of threw me off what I know it's insta-love but it just moves SOOOOO fast. And I though the break-up in the middle seemed more manufactured to provide some drama. Yes, Callum was kind of an ass, but when Michael walks out, he just lets him go and only phones him. He lives two blocks from you, if you really wanted to make amends you'd do more than just send voice mails. So I was kind of annoyed by that. Also trying to figure out the partners and who lived in which city and which club was where was a bit confusing for me. So it was okay, but didn't love it.

1. I thought the premise was interesting. Everybody has their thing so that was fine.
2. Michael was looking for someone who gets him. I could understand that but I wanted more why? How did he discover his wants.
3. How they connected was cute and easy.

1. Everything was way too easy.
2. There were great opportunities for well-placed drama and character development that never fully developed. These events easily went away or were solved. It was so disappointing.
3. The word Daddy” was used to the point I thought I would vomit.
Overall, it wasn’t bad at all, it was just not what it could have been.

My first ABDL book and I absolutely loved it!!!

I loved the dynamic between Callum and Mikey! They fit so perfectly together and they have a beautiful daddy/little relationship as well as being partners ❤️
It was filled with so much chemistry, understanding, tenderness, nurturing and love!

There was moments of sadness, as douche bag family steps in trying to break them, but thank god that got resolved because I really fell in love with these two and wanted them to be happy!!

I loved Mikey as a little, he really suited the role and I just want to sit down and play trains with him!!!

Omg please tell me Nate and Jem will come soon!!! I was also intrigued by them during the story and can’t wait to read more!!!!!

Well now

This was an interesting read. Interesting because If a daddy/little could top from the bottom this one certainly did. At times I couldn’t tell who was in control. To be honest I’m still not sure. But even so it was still a good read. Two men who thought they knew what they wanted figuring it out together.
Good story, good side characters, the only thing I didn’t like was the time jumps in the middle of a paragraph.

This is an full exploration of a Daddy and his Little in 24/7 life style. It amazing the author ability to immerse you into this book, while adding layer and layer of romance and love in each chapters. She leave you wanting more and give you a glimmer into other secondary characters and future stories.
