Thrown for the biggest loop she would likely ever be forced to experience, Daisy found herself at a complete loss for once. While a course of action normally made itself clear to her, her new predicament made following her instincts impossibly dangerous. One misstep and she not only might harm those she cared for, but could even fracture the universe itself.

Forced to rely on her unlikely alliances along with her own wits, Daisy would soon find herself going head-to-head with the most brutal race of alien conquerors the galaxy had ever known. If she succeeded, freedom was the prize. If she failed, oppression, slavery, and death awaited the vanquished.

The stakes were high, and the pressure higher, but with the help of friends, both old and new, she was determined to give it her all. But if she failed, all was exactly what she might lose.

Chasing Daisy
The Clockwork Chimera, Book 4
By: Scott Baron
Narrated by: Vivienne Leheny
I love this series and all the wonderful characters! The terrific wild adventures this crew gets into is crazy! When the last book ended Daisy had jumped in space but they find they jumped in time! Now what? How to get back? How to not change history? What can they do? So fun what happens! Adventure, humor, science fiction, great characters, plot, and world building makes these books habit forming!
The narrator performs perfectly! She makes the story pop!

It's 12:40AM. I've spent the majority of my day reading this book (minus a quick trip to town). And I am so close to starting the next one. So. Close.

This time, on the Clockwork Chimera series... we prep for war. And it's lovely. And it's intense in places. And I'm always questioning things.

What more do you need?

Oh wait, you need some time travel! It worked really really well in this book, with the characters both being afraid of changing the future and knowing they had to change the future.... It's hard to do time travel right, but this book does it!

I'm still in love with Freya, but meeting Arlo was also amazing. And the return of a certain someone had me squealing, I have to admit. (Though quietly, so I wouldn't wake anyone).

I'm in love with this series, and it'll be a damn shame to see it end. I'm not looking forward to the book hangover that's gonna happen.

I am enjoying this series very much, and book number four continues the excitement and anticipation in equal measure.

The reader finds out who the saviours were in the previous battles - it's very well done. The part with the map, I got such a shock that I shrieked out loud. Great stuff.

Fast, furious, unexpected, heartbreaking, joyful - this covers every emotion you go through whilst reading this. The characters feel like friends you've had for years, and you care for them deeply.

I struggle to find a fault with this book. Not that I'm looking very hard, to be honest. I'm more thinking about the possibilities to come in book five. I bet that I haven't thought of anything that actually happens, such is the content of Scott Baron's surprises. I can't wait to read the next book. Bring it on!

Normally, I hate time travel. It complicates things and more often than not, the author screws it up. One series I read (about zombies) introduced time travel in the 14th book. That ended it for me. But here..... Mr. Baron did an amazing job of covering all the bases! I wondered who the mysterious hooded character was, and now we find out! He did an amazing job filling in the gaps from previous books. And Freya.... Oh Freya.... She is an amazing AI character. She causes so many problems, but manages to fix them too. The war is about to get real, and I can't wait!

What a journey that was!

Without giving anything away, the way this worked and filled in all the gaps was perfect. Brilliantly done.

Didn't even have time to stop for quotes. 😆

"Garzool's adage, it is said that if the hypothetical outcome of an event can be bad, you may rest assured that the actual outcome will be worse" Maarl

This series continues to check all the boxes for me for what I want in a space opera. So much so that I have mixed emotions going into book 5- I don't want it to end, and yet I want to find out what happens next.

What the story needed next was definitely time travel! I just kept thinking whatever you do -don't mess up the space time continuation, unless you already messed up the continuation before then you should go it again so you don't create a paradox. I loved the part where they give Tamara a nudge from book one to get her back on the right path. I also loved the reference from Fatima bearing fruit (about giving Freya her love). I have a theory on Arlo and Marty and the relationship they will eventually have with Vince, Finn, Sarah and Daisy. I must be getting better- I was expecting the surprise at the end and cannot wait for it to play out

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels it finds the darkness has already got there first and is waiting for it." This quote from book one perfectly sums up the allies and the Raz. The Raz are a paranoid, evil race full of hatred and malice. The implications of which are far reaching.

This series for me has reminded of a lot of my favorite things rolled into one. Daisy reminds a bit of Buffy the vampire Slayer. She's confident, she's named her favorite sword and she's full if snark.
It has the feel of hitchhikers guide and the TV show red dwarf rolled into one ( and talking toasters!! Of which I am a big fan!). It also has a Edgar Rice Burroughs (like John Carter of Mars) feel to it that I find comforting and familiar. This series will definitely be among the books I reread.

I normally do not like books that contain time travel as it is handled as an easy solution to complicated problems. Scott Baron does a great job at not only answering some questions about paradox's in his universe but also uses this book to answer how some of the less believable events in the previous books happened. Enjoy the ride as Daisy and crew try to figure out what they can and can't influence while back in time meeting old and new friends.

4.5 stars. This is definitely the best in the 5 part series so far. We finally get a lot of reveals that are hinted at in earlier parts, which leads to some interesting storyline development. Freya really comes into her own in this story, and we learn a bit more about the history of the escaped humans.

The fourth book in “The Clockwork Chimera” series is one that takes the storyline in an entirely new and interesting direction; think the fourth direction. In “Chasing Daisy”, things begin to get more fun, more interesting, and more complex as Daisy and her team not only battle aliens who are intent on taking over the Earth, but also struggle to master time travel. Yep, you heard that correctly. In this latest installment, we get to see the team hop around in time and try not to disrupt to many past events. Scott Baron (author) and Vivienne Leheny (narrator) keep the excitement of the story pushing forward in this wonderful science fiction series. If you have not yet started the series, I would say this is a good time to jump onboard. All four of the current books are exceptionally written and narrated which for me is a great combination, and they are all currently available on Audible for your listening pleasure.

As the story begins to grow even grander, I find the author’s ability to provide prologue details at the start of every book, either via flashbacks or character conversations, important. It is a rather simple way of bringing the listener into the story without much extra effort. And for this audiobook, this background is important as we begin to deal with time travel. For those of us who are old enough to remember the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” or like a good “Doctor Who” episode, you will understand many of the nuances of traveling thought time. Often such traveling comes with more negative consequences than what is attempted to be modified. Here in this audiobook, we are reminded, not only of the initial consequences of an event or action, but additional consequences which can occur trying to rectify them.

Even though we have had many different types of artificial intelligence (AI) systems way back in the first audiobook, here we begin to see more blending of human skill with technology. Each has their own strengths, weaknesses, and personalities. Because of this, both Humans and machines have to depend on each other if they hope to succeed. One system seems to be learning and advancing much more rapidly than the others the team has experienced. Yet, this AI seems to be the least confident in their own abilities compared to the others. I find the research from Mr. Baron to be more realistic when it comes to the AI systems along with technology in general. However, these AI systems are more intelligent than what we have today and that becomes obvious as the book progresses. Even with this power, the AI systems are still not overpowered compared to their human counterparts.

In this part of the series we have most of the characters returning from previous installments, but we are introduced to a newer character which seem to have an aura of mystery around him. Will he help the crew, or will his timely appearance be their demise? As with the previous stories, we also have the alien rebels and loyalists along with the quite powerful enemy the team is attempting to defeat. Sarah also has some things happen to her that gives her the ability to not only feel more human, but also be tied in with a few of the AI systems along the way. I found that the characters in this book started to solidify more for me, which is a good thing. I’m growing more attached to some and less to others. I just hope the author does not decide to kill off one of my favorites as things progress in the story.

The narration by Vivienne Leheny is very well produced and her voice seems to fit the main character just right. Much like with the “Dragon Mage” series and Charlie, I would not want to have another person voice Daisy going forward. She does a great job of not only voicing the other humans in the audiobook, but the AI systems and the aliens as well. The audio levels were consistent and there were no noticeable audio artifacts I noticed while listening. A narrator I would listen to other audiobooks she has produced.

For parents and younger listeners, like with the other audiobooks in the series, this audiobook also contains a fair amount profanity. There are a few scenes of graphic violence along with some adult crude humor and innuendos which may not be appropriate for younger listeners.

In summary, this book is another winner in the series and each audiobook only get better and better. Aspects of the story are becoming clearer and more solidified. Throwing in the twist of time travel caught me off guard a bit, but I like where it is going. The audio itself was clean and clear of any issue and the writing remains detailed and well thought out. There is plenty of adventure here including having to deal with some paradoxes along the way. I have not stated this in previous review of this series, but I do have to give credit also to the cover art as it is very well done. Again, if you are looking for something new to jump into, I would recommend you give this audiobook, and the series, a listen.

The first three books of this amazing series have been a rip-roaring and exciting adventure. Really, though, they just set the stage for Chasing Daisy. This volume is where things get really crazy! Scott Baron demonstrates his advanced level of professional writing skill and experience by weaving together a great many very complex plot threads to keep your head spinning through time and space along with Daisy and her colorful cast of diverse characters.

I am really enjoying the way Baron draws his characters. They have considerable depth and you cannot help but get emotionally connected with them.

As with some other reviewers my biggest problem with finishing Chasing Daisy was realizing that only one more volume, Daisy's War, remains in this very excellent series!

Highly recommended!

Summary: This book was fun, good space opera, but lots of aspects that were a bit flimsy and if over thought would make it unreadable, as it was Daisy is super intelligent, super dexterous, super strong, but has the wisdom of a 2 year old - it makes for a fun story. Book 2 similar theme summed up as fun but stupid, easy to read so I'll keep going with the series. Book 3 - more of the same, getting really annoyed and put off by Daisy perfection. Book 4 - time travel, hmmm. It does tie up some loose ends ... very convenient

Plotline: Contrived in places but yes moves nicely with an overall purpose

Premise: the overall aim of the premise works but some of the details are off. Book 2 we learn more and not all good

Writing: simple quick the user is right in the action with Daisy. No great depth to the characters though

Ending: Nice completion all set up for book 2 ... book 3 ... book 4

Pace: Never a dull moment!

Review: When Daisy isn't farting rainbows she is at once speshul and wuvs her mankins. Even her sister is a bastion of unicorn poop. Ah, fuk this book made me tired. Tired of the patented characterization. Tired of the too hot sisters and the AI universe, filled with heightened personalities willing to rip your eyes right out of their sockets when graced with a perfidy of demeanors.

You know how many times Daisy used "Kiddo" to hail and or identify their juvenile AI? One hundred twenty five fukin times. Every other page was this tense expectation that somehow the author would move on from this story line expediter, but sadly, no. Kiddo will forever be etched etched into lines of vulgarity that is "Chasing Miss Daisy".

Wonderful story

I loved it! Daisy and her companions are trying to weed out the aliens who are loyal to the RA'AZ and get ready for the coming battle. Meanwhile on Earth, everyone is trying to repair all the damage that has been done. Vince and her have grown to love each other deeply and new friends have came to help. Amazing story that has surpassed everything that I have read before in the sci-fi genre. Truly an amazing saga and an author that has delighted me with his writing. New fav!

Book 4 of the series

Most of the this book is a different POV from the previous book. I didn't understand how some things could be changed but how saving some of the liked characters from the previous book couldn't be done without messing up the future. But apart from that it is a nice continuation of this series.

Overall an improvement in the series, and back explains several previously noted inconsistencies in earlier books. A simple and boiled down but fun read. If food, it’d be chain restaurant level.

After the last book's events, we find ourselves in the past. I've seen this done elsewhere many times, but it's not bad, so I enjoy it. The big thing is bringing back a character. I think it is done well, but I find it a bit confusing sometimes with two Saras talking. It is not bad, just confusing. However, after all that, the story kind of dragged its feet. I understand that it needs to start rebuilding Eart,h but I found it boring other than entertaining. There are a few action scenes here and there, but nothing eye-catching. I like this epilogue and the tease at war to end it all.
