A wolf with three legs is still a wolf.
Javier Acosta Campos is a wounded warrior and wolf shifter who trains therapy dogs for other veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. He’s just moved to Nocturne Falls to start a training program at a very quirky animal shelter, and he’s fallen stupid in love with the local veterinarian.
Medina Theron keeps telling herself she shouldn’t be thinking about men. Since her fiancé moved on to blonder pastures, she’s stayed busy as one of the only veterinarians in town who specializes in the treatment of magical creatures. But now that the new trainer at the animal rescue seems to always be around at just the right moment, he’s on her mind a lot.
When the remnants of the family she didn’t know she had drag her into a web of trouble, Medina and her new familiar need help. Thankfully, there’s a three-legged shifter on duty, and Javi means to keep her safe. Even from himself.

Short version:
Sela Carsen is an award-winning author of paranormal and sci-fi romance -- with or without sex and dead bodies. Your pick. She maintains a permanent nerd-on for fairytales and mythology, and openly hoards reference books about obscure folklore. Born a wanderer, she and her family have finally settled in the Midwest. Until they move again, at least.

Long and rambly, but funnier version:
In addition to writing, I’m a wife to a Darn Near Perfect Husband and mom to Two Great Kids. They used to be the Monkey children, but they seem to have settled down a bit. (That’s going to come back and bite me on the butt as soon as you read this!)

I have a BA in French (utterly useless, but fun at parties) and another BA in Communication. While I was getting the Communication degree, I wrote for my alumni magazine, dipped my feet into advertising, took want ads at the local paper and even wrote obituaries. I was also a reporter at a small-town daily, but soon realized I didn’t have a true journalist’s instinct.

After that, I was busy being married and having children, but when my youngest was about a year and half old, I was standing in the shower when a scene popped into my head. Why does that always happen when you’re in the shower and you can’t get a pen and paper? Anyway, I got the soap out of my eyes, dried off and headed straight for the computer where I wrote it all down.

And boy, did it stink. Whew!

I’d been reading romance novels for years so I figured I should be able to write one, right?

Are you done laughing? Let me know when you’re finished.

Ok, then. It took about twenty false starts and a work I now call The-Regency-That-Wouldn’t-Die before I finally got disgusted with myself and started writing this funny little scene in a Louisiana cemetery. That little scene became Not Quite Dead and it’s the first manuscript I ever finished. After much angst and rewriting on my part, I eventually sold it to Samhain Publishing, who released it in August 2006.

Since then, I’ve placed several other stories, but that first one will always be special to me.

I’m a member of Romance Writers Of America and can usually be found at the bar during national conferences.

Magic’s Crown by Sela Carson

A paranormal romance from the Nocturne Falls Universe, a town where everyday is Halloween so the paranormal residents can live openly.
5th book by this author. Brings characters back from prior stories but can be read as a standalone.

Great writing skills in this book. A lot of descriptive phrases that made places and items come to life. “normal bachelor clutter” brings a certain image to the mind. You know exactly what the author means.
Delightful overall. Wraps up this authors books in the Nocturne Falls Universe.

A wounded veteran who also a wolf-shifter, and a vet who had sworn off men. These two characters were lovable. There’s mystery, a bit of suspense, and romance obviously. A perfect combination for an enjoyable book that could cater to almost everybody.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

This is a fast-paced story that was easy to read in one sitting. The characters are interesting, I enjoyed getting to know them. There is a bit of mystery, a little suspense, and a blossoming relationship - something for everyone. This is a great book.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
I loved the book!
Medina is just trying to take of her animals under her care.
However, the new trainer is not hard on her eyes at all.
Is she ready to give love another chance ?
Javier came to Nocturne Falls for a new beginning.
Is he ready for love as well ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!

One of my favourites

I love this series, it's always reliable for a really good read!
But I think this may be one of my favourites. Javi is a wonderful hero and the connection with Medina is very real.
Exactly what you need to read after a difficult day. I love Sela Carsen's books!

This is the fifth story by this author in the Nocturne Falls Universe, following Magic’s Song, which was a great book, Magic’s Fate, Magic’s Promise, which was even better than the first one, and Magic’s Frost from Merry & Bright: A Christmas Anthology. These books can be read in any order, although the appearance of some previous characters might affect the reading of previous books.
This was bay far the best book in the author's NFU Magic series! It features Javier, a wounded warrior and a shifter, and Medina, a witch and a vet in an animal rescue centre. Their story is so beautiful and romantic. It tells a story of two broken people who heal each other and accept each other with all of their flaws and virtues.
The author has brought back an array of previous characters as well as some of the original Nocturne Falls characters. The author's writing is as beautiful as in her previous stories. There are some amazing animal characters in this story as well. I absolutely loved this story and can't wait for the next one.
The Nocturne Falls is a great series and the reading order is: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), and The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball Anthology, The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) in Hex the Halls Anthology, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5), A Vampire's Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5), Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #1), The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6), Miss Frost Ices The Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #2), The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) in Taming the Vampire collection, Miss Frost Saves The Sandman: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #3), The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7), The Vampire's Accidental Wife (Nocturne Falls #8), Miss Frost Cracks A Caper: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #4), Miss Frost Braves The Blizzard: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #5), The Reaper Rescues The Genie (Nocturne Falls #9), The Detective Wins The Witch (Nocturne Falls Book 10), Miss Frost Chills The Cheater: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost Book 6), and ever growing series of Nocturne Universe Novels, which surpassed 40 by now. Great world to get yourself immersed in.

This is a great book; this book is part of the Nocturne Falls Universe and is written by Sela Carsen. The Nocturne Falls series is written by Kristen Painter and I was so happy that these new books by new authors were asked to write a story in the town. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.

Paranormal romance and adventure set in Nocturne Falls. A disabled Air Force veteran named Javi admires a tough veterinarian called Medina, who has some magical ability of her own. Then an evil lawyer shows up to threaten her, and Javi protects her. That is the spark that starts their relationship, when they both had previously been reluctant to act on their mutual attraction.
Some other Nocturne Falls characters also play a part in this story, as well as a large number of creatures, both mundane and magical.
Typos: A couple of poorly constructed sentences, and an extra word that should have been removed when a sentence was rewritten. One plural last name is written properly (Therons), while many others end in an incorrect apostrophe S, even the name that was written properly the first time.

One of the things I love about the NFU series is the exposure it gave to exposure to new authors. I loved Sela’s stories in this spinoff. This story is around Javier, a wounded retired military soldier, and Medina, a busy vet in Nocturne Falls who unexpectedly learns more about her magical gifts than she ever suspected. The story is sweet, the dogs are adorable, and I just can’t get enough of the kelpie Bubba! (see “Magic’s Promise” for more on Bubba). And I love the Rus background in her stories.

The book is set in Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days per year. It features Javi, a wolf shifter, and Medina, a witch. Medina is a veterinarian and Javi is retired military who was injured in combat. The story wraps around the idea that Medina does not know who she actually is, or who her heirs are. She finds out that she is actually a princess from a very important family. There is suspense, when a shifty lawyer enters the scene, and there is romance. Cute short story.

Another great installment in Nocturne Falls.

It seems like this story was more told from the point of view of the MMC, Javi. Which actually like because he had a good backstory that was fleshed out.
We did get the FMC's point of view, and the story was told with back-and-forth between the two.
Javi was a soldier who had lost a leg to an IED. It was treated almost matter of fact. It was not the whole focus of the story, but it was part of Javi.
There are so many different thoughts of things that happened in the story. I would definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed this latest Sela Carsen addition to the Nocturne Falls Universe Series. It was fun and easy to read with a decent plot and likeable characters - Medina and Javier are interesting and engaging as the central couple of this story, and it was nice to see characters from Sela's previous NFU writings - particularly Katya, involved again :)

I liked all the characters and the dogs were fantastic. I love the fact that the male main character worked training dogs for PTSD or physically injured veterans. I felt the relationship moved a bit too fast, but I really enjoyed the story.

This book was so hard to put down! I loved it that much! The characters are very well written and the story is just so engaging that I had to tear myself away to get my household chores done. This is a great addition to the NFU, and I look forward to more from this author!

Kristen Painter realized that so man people loved the town of Nocturne Falls that she created a great place where lots of different authors could write short romantic stories about people in Nocturne Falls called A Nocturne Falls Universe. This is one of those books that I was happy to read.

I love the mix of disability with love and ability. Someone who has managed to grow and help others is amazing. It was a great love story but I still think Bubba saved the story and the day. It was fun to see all the characters coming together to help each other. The love story was sweet but felt like it had been lost in the other half of the chaos.
