Cute little book, that gives a warm fuzzy familiar feeling from the start with the author’s little story at the intro.. but I gave 2 stars because it is not very detailed and filled with misinformation.. for example the crystal part: it’s explained in the book that you have to take a bowl, fill it with water and put your crystals in it to cleans them.. which for some crystals this is indeed how you should do it, but a LOT of them should NEVER be in contact with water as they dissolve! And she only speaks of water cleansing, not of any other cleansing possibilities like salt cleansing or smoke cleansing of the crystals.. the book felt quite incomplete

🌟 3.5 star rating 🌟
i thought this book was great except for the love spell section. it’s not long at all and it does go through the whole ‘can’t make someone fall in love with you’ and ‘free will’ and ‘will come back on you’ talk but i hardly see why love spells, no matter what they are, should be put in a book about PRACTICAL magic. it could just be me and the way i do my craft, but i don’t see love spells as practical at all.
other than that one small section, all the information was good and overall it was an enjoyable book!
definitely recommend to beginners and advance practitioners alike cause it’s always good to brush up on the basics

I've read a few other books by this author, such as The Tarot Bible, and this little book is full of fascinating information about astrology, magic spells and rituals and so on. It's in 'The Little Book Series of Magic' and I am hoping to read two others in this series Crystal Magic and Earth Magic, next. A useful and well laid out beginners book about all things occult, straightfoward and easy to read.

A really accessible book, full of useful information for anyone who's interested in magic, divination and all the occult arts. A good beginner's introduction with practical advice, how to cast spells, use divination tools, and all the know-how you need to set off on a witchy or esoteric journey. I found it a great read and will dip into it again and again. Recommended for beginners who want to know more about practical ways to make magic.

I have read a couple of this author's other books in the series, and this is just as interesting as the others. It's more generalised than Ms Bartlett's other books, so it's a perfect introduction for the beginner who wants to know more about spells, crystals, horoscopes and tarot before taking their practice to a deeper level.

good book for beginners although no pictures, i find the language easy to read and good to pick up and down whenever i need too. I like that there is a bit of everything so that you can choose stuff you like or are drawn too and then go on to learn more about it.
overall i would recommend although i did find it a bit wordy towards the end.

Great beginner book. It was the first book I read on witchcraft and honestly was very helpful I still keep it on had to go back to. It doesn’t go into too much detail but goes into enough detail that you get the general idea so that you’d know if you want to adventure into further topics

Jam packed with info but I’m more of a visual learner, so i definitely appreciate pictures - however this book feels like a real spell book, small and handy and easy to take around anywhere. A book I’ll keep forever.

Great for beginners into all things a bit magical. There are sections on everything from crystals to divination, and for a little book it covers an awful lot of material in a simple and unpretentious way. I bought this for a friend, and she loves it!

a lot of useful stuff that i will refer back to in here. though i do agree with the critique that there is a lot of time and energy spent of love magic in this book, when i wouldn’t necessarily call love magic “practical” or a basic skill.

I don't doubt there are more complex and compelling books, but this one is easy to digest and a good start as someone with no knowledge of magic.

it’s good book that introduces the basics of the magick world. However, i found it extremely centred around love/sex, when magick can be used for soooo much more. other parts may be incorrect so take everything with a pinch of salt

This is a lovely all-round book about aligning with the moon's phases, and there's also a great section about the moon in astrology, and lunar goddesses too. A nice read, packed with easy spells, rituals and information.

Too much woo for my liking. Might work better for someone who is just getting into witchcraft, but there really are better beginner books out there.
