After coming into possession of a 17th-century dagger found in Florida Bay, former Navy SEAL Logan Dodge scours the ocean with his friends in search of what they soon learn is a legendary pirate ship.
It isn't long before Logan discovers more remnants of the wreck, but danger lurks on his doorstep. An old and powerful enemy has returned for vengeance, and Logan will discover the haunting truth that even those close to you can betray you.
It's do or die for Logan as he undertakes an adventure that will take him all across the Florida Keys and end around the world on the shores of Thailand. There's no room for error in this action riddled, treasure hunting, backstabbing romp in the Florida Keys.
Matthew is the author of the Florida Keys Adventure Series and the Jason Wake Novels. He's always had a deep rooted love for adventure and the ocean. He loves traveling, diving, rock climbing and writing adventure novels.
Logan Dodge. Your typical thriller protagonist. Wealthy, former SEAL and mercenary. Has a world class assassin as his main squeeze. Travels around the Caribbean and Florida Keys in million and half dollar yacht.
The stories, while “out there’, are fun reads. What I call “no brainers”. This one involves treasure hunting for pirate treasure as well as dealing with a group of villains, Black Venom, from the first of the series.
Not a bad story until Rief went all Indiana Jones in the treasure hiding place. Book also could have used the services of a competent editor in places.
This writer knows how to describe a situation in such detail that my mind puts me there completely. All these books are an excellent read from beginning to end.
Another good read. Exciting action in the Keys. I have enjoyed this series since I have been down to the Florida Keys, including Key West, and feel like I am familiar with the scene there. I just really would like to have the recipe for that Swamp Sauce they like so much! Not sure the ones I have found are the same thing. I am hoping there will be a continuation of the series! Once again another really great story and I'm sure that I could not put it down one of the best ever lots of action and as always a fantastic ending looking forward to the next one your a great story teller
Good story from start to finish with the lead in pirate story probably a good one for expansion by Rief. The detail in and around the Keys always intriguing as it brings back old memories.
I am loving the story of adventure and love. Pay backs are a bitch, so glad Ben got what he Deserved. A few unanswered questions. Did the last chest with Diamonds get recovered ?
I've read the first three books in the series. I like the characters, and the plots. The writing is overall pretty good. All books in this genre require a far amount if suspension of disbelief, but this one took a lot, especially at the end. Spoiler alert...Logan shoots several people with his hands cuffed behind his back and somehow gets them in from of him to fight several more people. I like a hero wins story, but this one goes too far in getting there.
Having become subject to thematic drawled motivations to fight aggressively as the protagonist has consistently in the past, choosing to roll with a clearly alternative approach (as much as may have been insisted alternatively), this set of little bastards would drive anyone mad. 👍
Excellent story as well as the alternative hunts you. He’ll lose but the never sense of common sense never ceases to amaze me. Leave this one dead, it’s met to see how dumb a bear can be poked.
I've read several of his Logan Dodge stories, I'll probably read more since they're free on Kindle Unlimited. I just wish Matt Rief would learn to not overdescribe everything. Too many details -about unimportant details. He writes better than I ever will or could -and kudos to him for that, but my suggestion for what it's worth (you decide) is to stop trying so hard and let the story tell itself.
Tha amount of miss used and mystical grammerical events is simply unexplainable. Obviously no human was ever employed to proof this book. I use Grammerly, and yet it is necessary to proof read a draft before publishing. The story is typical pulp fiction. Good for a casual reading escape, but not very mentally intriguing, you can fairly determine where the plot is going at times.
Several minor mistakes geographically and one rather glaring mathematical error that has bugged me since book one.
A 49 year old retired FBI agent with 30 years of service?
Aside from that, predictable storylines and I am looking forward to seeing if Logan and his posse can actually find at least one shipwreck in 75% of the books in this series as they have managed to do so far.
a little long in the tooth, but exciting. He's a bad ass, but always gets kidnapped every book. Lots of treasure hunts, usually why I read the books. Try this one. You will like it.
I like the series and will finish all of them just to see what happens. I wish he could find other ways of saying "blood boils," and "thugs." A SEAL doesn't have boiling blood and all opponents are not thugs. Minor quibbles. Good reads.
I’ve been enjoying the Logan Dodge series and this book has been the best so far! I like the characters, the settings, and the adventures. Makes me want to explore the Florida Keys!
Always, positively, I love Mathew Rief's adventure stories. They totally captivate me and are exciting. His stories are hard to put down. I'm never disappointed!
Logan's adventures never fail to keep me turning the pages. The storyline is always different enough to keep it interesting, and keep the reader guessing what is coming next.
As always the Florida Keys adventures have me on the edge of my seat. I started reading them some time ago not realizing I was at the end and not quite understanding the story. Now I am enjoying and always looking forward to the next adventure
Treasure hunting, pirates, cartels and more adventures
Logan Dodge just cannot resist a good treasure hunt along with an adventurous pirate tale! Matthew Rief definitely knows how to spin a excitement, danger and romance into Logan's life!
Loving this book series, especially since it takes place in the Keys which I'm very familiar with. Spent a lot of time in the Keys over the last 60 yrs.. Looking forward to moving on to the next book in the series.
So far the books I've read in this series have been hard to put down once I begin. Mr. Rief builds up slowly yet never boring to an exciting crescendo of an ending. I know I'll be reading the entire series.
I really enjoy all these books . They are all books I can't put down. They are interesting and keep my attention to the point of anything else. I never get tired of reading them.
As usual Matthew Rief writes an interesting book. Clever with his descriptions of food, fighting, and fun. Certainly an interesting read, but very similar to Book 3. However I enjoyed each page.
Not nearly as good as the first 3 in the series. Author is starting to fall into having the characters get dumb at the wrong time, seemingly to prolong the story.
