My Heavenly Hockey Club: Volume 2 is just a bunch of fun scribbled on 200 pages or so. I really enjoy the interpersonal interactions between Hana and Izuni. Right now there isn't any sexual tension, but I am sure that may not last long. They are always fighting and falling asleep together (both appear to love to sleep).
In the last story, when they are trapped in the house by the hurricane, Hana beings to wonder if Izuni likes her, even though we have never really seen any evidence of this. Personally, I hope that he doesn't like her. It is refreshing to read a manga book that doesn't revolve around lusting after someone.
As for the stories, I enjoyed all of them, but did get a little lost on the Judo Club story. I had no idea why they put on make-up and pretended to be girls. It just happened without any explanation, or at least, I did see one. Weird.
The artwork by Ai Morinaga is wonderful. I still wonder if they are ever going to play a field hockey game. My guess is that it will never happen. Or, if it ever does, it will be in the last book of the series. Either way, it is the characters that make this series work.
Overall, I highly enjoyed reading about this dysfunctional field hockey team in My Heavenly Hockey Club: Volume 2. Hopefully more strange adventures are to come in My Heavenly Hockey Club: Volume 3. I certainly hope so.
I rated this book an 8½ out of 10.
