Wow this was a long book. Frequently throughout the book I kept thinking to myself how it could have been shorter. But after getting to the end I can't think of what should have been taken out to make it shorter. I think it was all necessary to see Noah's gradual change.

It did start getting a little annoying how things just kept on going wrong for CC and Noah. Every time they made a little progress something would happen and they would get mad at each other and start throwing insults. It was getting hard to read after a while. Also, I think Noah was a bit creepy in the beginning. I didn't understand why CC liked him. He was mean and forceful with her. He even hurt her when he would gripped her wrist at one point she thought her wrist was going to snap. How did she find that attractive? He would accuse her of all these terrible things all while he was forcing himself on her and she liked it. I just didn't get it. I didn't understand how she wasn't creeped out by him. She said numerous times in the beginning she didn't like him or she hated him, but it was her body that would respond to him. I just don't understand that. If you don't like someone, I don't understand how you would be excited by their forceful touch.

With all that being said, Noah grew on me. I loved who he became at the end, that realized how strong his love for CC was.

I LOVED Matthew and Faith. I was really intrigued by their little love story, it was a nice addition to the book.

✨Enemies To Lovers
✨American Revolution
✨Feisty Rebel Maiden
✨Englishman MMC
✨Spicy 🌶️
✨Bickering Nonstop

American Revolutionary romance! Sound amazing right? I was hoping to channel some of that Outlander season 7 energy - with war between England and Colonials. I love the idea of this time period for a romance between enemies to lovers. ✨

BUT!! OKAY LIKE WHAT?? 100 pages in- The scene where MMC Noah is wrestling/arguing with this “young lad” and this boy’s costume rips open to reveal bouncing breast - of the woman FMC he’d been verbally arguing (MMC seems argumentative towards everyone!) with earlier on that day - a woman he JUST MET BTW - and him lustfully stopping the physical fight to reach out and caress said bouncing breast and force a kiss is WILD. Not even questioning why the boy he was wrestling with is a girl.. 🤔 And right before this moment of physical fighting - the MMC had to stop mid thrusting into the bar whore when interrupted by his colleague to tell him its time for the rebel meeting just sheer moments before seeing FMC CeCe’s bust explode out of her boyish outfit. Wild plot. Like INSTALUST ?? MAN WHORE?? But in the most wild way. Then to get even more wilder - MMC is groping FMC - that he just met right? Without questing why she is dressed up like a boy - he’s just getting handsy on her body - like a dog seeing a SQUIRREL 🐿️ - so distracted by breast - touching her without permission - and she’s fighting it - and she hates him - but yet someone touching her breast arouses her so much that she starts dry humping him and they start messing around until she orgasms - and in shame after getting off…. She runs away crying..

💀

Never have I ever met a stranger and let him grab my naked flesh and then start f*cking me in the back room of a stable where a secret meeting is happening - waiting for my colleague to return. 😆

Insta F*cking and lusting is such a turnoff.
I want YEARNING. 🙄 Not a douche grumpy MMC humping every woman around and then R A P I N G the FMC in between taking bar whores.

This plot is wild. Ridiculous.

But I really - really - really - wanted that American revolutionary plot. And I’m a huge Bobbi Smith fan. 😩 This plot is just so ridiculous and I can’t root for a MMC who comes off as a pig nonstop in the story. The ICK here is real. No romance doesn’t feel like romance. It feels cheap and aggressive.

I also want to add that the plot feels very messy - a lot happening all at once - which is honestly normal for Bobbi Smith - but this one was too much - and with little love for any of the character.

This is the first Bobbi Smith book that I just can’t stand.

Repetition killed this one!

The plot is good. The characters well described and developed. But the repetition of why or what was happening was to the point of droll!

I found myself skimming as the repeated description of the characters' motives was such overkill it ruined the story. I think about a-third of the book could have easily been edited out.

I also felt the story ended oddly. A big work out to nothing!

No recommendation. Not one of Smith's best efforts by far.

Very catching beginning, very promising, but then it started losing my interest for some reason. I couldn't seem to stay concentrated on the book and as a result it took me forever to finish it. Maybe it's where it was so long (503 pgs), I don't know. Aside from that it was an okay book. Good storyline, and good characters.

I didn't like the end, it was a mess, to long, and not a good end.

I liked the story, but it dragged on, and some of of it was really cheesy.
