War is imminent. After a successful rescue of his comrades and a narrow escape ahead of the Darkkon invasion of Vallus, Art and the team must head to the planet Fengar in the heart of the Galactic Conglomerate, to bring news of the attack. Midway through their journey, Art’s team is intercepted by a Special Operations Darkkon ship and thrown into a vicious battle. Boarding the enemy ship, they come across a rare, ancient piece of Yau technology believed to have been infinitely lost—but it’s not the only Yau technology at the enemy’s disposal. As the Darkkon Empire ramps up their attacks, the technology must be replicated and put into mass production to give the Galactic Conglomerate a fighting chance against the empire before it’s too late. this book contains violence and some cursing. Read at your own risk.
Arthur Holland, ex marine and now captain of a Yau space ship. He leaves the flying to the AI now occupying his body. He has found out that there may be many benefits of having Dotty in his head but there are many drawbacks too. He is virtually a prisoner of the AI. If he doesn’t follow the protocol of the Yau he will be discarded for a new host and he wold be left extremely damaged, in fact he would be considered insane. In this book the Darkkon Empire has declared war on the Conglomerate and Arthur, Seya Aranis, Kayton and the surviving Codari special forces are needed to fight them. As usual, the limiting factor to the Pillar’s use is the lack of power. Arthur is starting to adapt to his new circumstances and is looking at the Pillar as home and his new associates as family. Once again a real space opera full of action.
Guerra, Alex. Galactic Destiny. E-book ed., Kindle, 2018. Galactic Forge 2. Building a world that will hold a reader’s attention through three volumes of military SF requires uncommon skills. Alex Guerra’s Galactic Forge series entertains all the way through the first volume—we find a spaceship, have an AI implant, and rescue a princess. The second volume, Galactic Destiny, sags as we acquire allies and begin the war. The trouble is, the enemies are not as much fun as the characters we met in the first volume. Think Star Wars without the cool of Darth Vader. 3 stars.
The story is action packed, we little down time in between action scenes. Second novella I read from the author and have added him to my Amazon following list.
