This is the first book I have read from this author and now she has a new fan. I love a good suspense romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book of the Thick as Thieves series and it was a perfect book to start a new series with. I was hooked on this book at the first chapter. I could not help but to fall in love with these characters. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.
Tru has been a thief for a while now. She is on her last heist. Tru is so excited to start her new life. She just needs money to make sure she can get what she wants. Tru is getting close to what she wants and then the man she hates walks into her life again. She has not seen her ex husband in years and he still looks good. Her ex husband is now security to the man she is trying to steal from. Tru knows his games and she is not going to fall for it this time. When she finds out the true reason why her ex Will is there she knows that their can be danger. Tru and Will get to know eachother again and sparks start to fly. Will Tru and Will get what they need or will they put themselves into danger they can’t get out of?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and mystery. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Tru is a very independent woman that is afraid of getting hurt again. She just wants a family and someone to love her. Will is a beautiful man that is really smart. The way he cares for Tru will make you swoon. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

Ring Tru is the first book in the Thick As Thieves Series by Janice M. Whiteaker. What a great way to start off a new series! I was hooked right from the first chapter. This is a brilliant second chances romance, with mystery, suspense, danger, intrigue, steam, tension, love, loss, heartache, hate, jewel thieves, friendships, plots, plans, and more.
Gertrude (Tru) has been in her line of business now for 15 years and is ready for a fresh start. But to make that happen, she needs to do one last job, so she can start over. She’s got just the right heist to set her up for the next stage of her life and she has put a lot of effort into setting things up and hopes she’ll soon see the fruits of her labour. Then he walks back into her life, and things get complicated.
Will and Tru have a history, and yes, he had hurt her, badly. But he thought he was doing what was best for her at the time. That was 5 years ago…. and now, she hates him. He really wonders if he did the right thing when he walked away. They are obviously working the same score, but for two different reasons. If he can’t find a way to get her to trust him and agree to work together, it may cost them a lot more than some jewels. But, there is definitely more to the situation than first meets the eye, and things soon take a dangerous turn. Will he risk everything to protect her? Was the pain he caused her too deep for her to get past? Will they realise that there is a fine line between love and hate, and they never really stopped loving each other – both suffering for the past 5 years? Will they leave with what they came for, or something far more valuable?

Ring Tru by Janice M. Whiteaker a four-star read that will ring your bell. This is the first book in the Thick as Thieves series and oh what a start. Tru was a great character and she will pull you into the story in a great manner, she is complex but compelling. One thing I will say was that I found the start a little slow, but then got hooked into it and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. The second story can’t come quick enough as just like this second chance story the authors writing is just second to none.

When I first read the summary, I was like "I must read this book". Gertrude is a trophy wife, not so much wife but more like a girlfriend to a super old man named Ezra. Will is part Ezra's security detail and he used to be Gertrude's husband. But it isn't just that simple. Gertrude is here to steal jewelry from this old man, while Will is here to help recover his friend's stolen jewelry. Gertrude (aka Tru) and Will aren't together because he left her five years ago, penniless and shot. She is still angry and he still loves her. He left her because he wanted more for her. She thinks he left because she is holding him back. This mission is dangerous and working together is easier than working separately. However, it is hard to trust each other when they left kind of on bad terms. Will they work together? We can see they still care for each other. Will they ever forgive each other? Will they ever get back together? Will they get caught? Can they trust each other? There are so many questions. Y'all should read it to find out how it'll play out!!!!!

It feels eerie to root for thieves, but you can't help but want Will and Tru to get away with their crimes. We see the complexity of this situation and in our characters. I even love the two side characters, their friends helping them on this mission. At times I do question whether it'll be easier for them to not to steal and just make money like regular people do. I want to know more of that backstory of how they came to this. Why they do this? But I guess it is something I'll never know. It doesn't bother me too much about them stealing because they are my main characters, I'll probably let them get away with anything. I definitely recommend others to reading this book. It is definitely an awesome book!!!!!!!!!!!

Ring Tru (Thick as Thieves Book 1) by Janice M. Whiteaker was a fast pace, edgy read, that had me hooked from start to finish.
My first read by this author, I was super excited to dive into this book. I love books with thieves, a little cat and mouse, and of course drama. But you'd be surprised now weirdly untouch this plotline is. So when I see these books pop up, I get excited. Ring Thu was not a disappointment. It had a Heartbreakers/The Italian Job feel. (Two movies that I love!) It kept me on my toes, it was captivating, and thrilling.
At first this is just another job for out MC Tru, her last and one to set her and her bestie up for life. You'll find out right away, from the first page, how this has that Heartbreaker feel. Tru's mark isn't exactly young.. you know what I'm saying. Trouble brews when her ex appears as her "hubbies" security detail. This get complicated, fast, and that's where the fun begins. I love their interactions, they attraction. It isn't forced, and you can feel how that no matter the hurt, the time, or the reason, they still are madly in love. It was always a joy watching Tru get all flustered and crazy when Will was around.
Besides that mess, they are there for the same reason, but different all the same. Making things again, complicated. You want to root for Tru, cause of what Will did, but then you get to know him, and hear why he did what he did. Pity sets in, and now, you don't know who to root for, because damn, both of them deserves it. So yeah, this couple will have you switching sides, while making you want to slap them both.
Then there is the underline danger, the weird pieces of the puzzle, and the lingering feeling that maybe there won't be a happy ending for them.
This story has it all, and like I said, it hooked me first from the first page and I could not put it down. Coming in a 225 pages, you could say, it is a fairy shorter read. But still chalked full of madness, mystery, and a hot couple that can't decide what to do with each other. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you be captured by this outstanding, lush, dangerous read, that might just steal your heart...(haha..see what I did there?....I'm amazing I know..)

The story Ring Tru (Thick as Thieves Book 1) by Janice M. Whiteaker is a romantic suspense book. It is a book that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the last page. It is a story that has times that are suspenseful and had me wondering what was going to happen next. It had me turning pages. I loved reading about Tru and Will. Tru is a woman who has one more job that she has to do and then she will retire into the sunset. What she doesn’t expect is to run into Will the man that left her years ago, breaking her heart. Will knows he has a problem when he finds the woman that he left to protect from the lifestyle that he leads after the same prize. He now finds that the job he has started to be a difficult one as he can’t stop thinking about her. She can’t stop thinking about him. Could it be that the emotions/feelings that they both felt they were over still remain? Could these two still care for each other? They both have a job that they are working on. Will they find themselves protecting each other or is it every thief for themselves? Read this story to find out. There are some twists to this story that I did not see coming and I found myself mesmerized by the plot to the story. I enjoyed reading about how Tru and Will banter back and forth with each other. I also liked reading about this couple’s friends and their interactions. This is a wonderfully written story that I would recommend reading. It is the first book in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.

Ring Tru was a unique read for me. A romantic suspense book where the characters were just a bit shady. From the start, I was engrossed and yearning to find out more about the characters. From Tru, the heroine trying to go straight to Will the criminal who let her go for her own protection, you can’t help but love them!
Tru has always done what she needed to survive. But now she is ready to turn over a new leaf and go legit. She only has one more job than she can retire and move on with her life. But dealing with Will, her ex-husband is not what she wants or needs right now. Too bad Will isn’t willing to just let her go.
Will regretted walking away from his ex-wife Tru. But to protect her and get her out of the criminal life he did what needed to be done. He’s changed his spots (sort-of) and now has Tru back in his life and he’s keeping her there. Will they be able to overcome their past and work together to finish the job? Or will outside forces push them past their limits?
Well written, Ms. Whiteaker engages the reader with lots of action and suspense in this book. Fun characters that you identify with help make the book a smooth read. For a first-time author, I was very happy and enjoyed reading this book immensely. I would definitely recommend this author and book. I look forward to the next book in this series.

This is my second book by this author and I did enjoy it, I guess my drawback would be that I wish it had been longer. Some things just seemed to happen at warp speed before I even understood really what was going on. The storyline was awesome and the writing was spot on but the details had me curious through most of the book. Sometimes I think books could be cut in half with too many details, this one could have almost been doubled and more time put into the characters histories and exactly why they were where they were today. If that makes any sense at all, it's hard to explain.
Tru was awesome and just wanted to live a normal life but being left with what she thought was nothing by her ex husband, she's forced to take on one more job and it would go perfectly if only she didn't come up against that same ex husband who is also taking on one more job but in a totally different way, both of them out for the same thing yet for different reasons made this an awesome story. My favorite part of the whole book was the infamous manila envelope, that totally cracked me up.
I loved Gretchen and Cooper in this book but again would have loved even more about each of them and can not wait to read the next in this series.
So all in all I loved this story, I love this author’s writing and maybe that's one reason I wish it was longer, I would have really enjoyed more of this story and these characters.

Ring Tru is the first book in the Thick As Thieves Series by Janice M Whiteaker. I had never read any of her work before this and was unsure what to expect. Lets just say that she gets a huge ‘thumbs up’ from me. I really enjoyed Ring Tru.
Tru has decided that it’s time to get away from her life as a high class thief but has one last big job to give her the money needed to go back to a ‘normal’ life. She’s pretending to be in love with filthy rich geriatric Ezra in order to steal a very valuable piece of jewellery from him and replace it with a quality fake made by her close friend Gretchen.
What she didn’t expect was to find her ex-husband Will also working for Ezra with a similar plan in mind. Will had left Tru a few years before in order to get her away from this lifestyle and was shocked to see her. Both realise that they are still in love with each other and plan together to swindle Ezra.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Will and Tru, him trying to protect her from harm and her fighting with her feelings for Will. She really wants to hate him for leaving her but can’t deny that she still loves him.
This book had me gripped wondering how (and if) they would finally manage to carry out their elaborate plan. In this book we get hints of a possible romance between Will’s friend Cooper and Tru’s friend Gretchen. I’m hoping we get more from these two in the next book in this series.

Ring Tru is the first book in Janice M Whiteaker’s new series called Thick as Thieves. I have read EVERYTHING that she has written so I have been sitting on hot coals while waiting for this one to be published! It is very different from her other books and I love how she can pick up a different ‘genre’ and just run with it!
Ring True is a story of second chances peppered with mystery, suspense, danger, intrigue, plots and a lot of love and heartache and … so basically everything under the sun! We meet Gertrude “True” and Will – they share a history, a very intense one and they did not depart on good terms … how would you call when your husband walks out on you when you are in hospital having been shot???!!! Even if he thinks that he did it because he thought it was the best thing he could do for you????!!! Men, do we need to say anything else!
Also, our Tru has been in a very interesting line of business for the last 15 years and she is so ready for a fresh start and this is the last job she will ever do in her old line of business … and then of course there is Will … is he on her side or is she the ‘enemy’ and what is the job he is working? Will he protect her? Will they find their way back to each other?
Pick up a copy and I know you will join me in impatiently waiting for the second book in the series!

Ring Tru is the first book in Janice M. Whiteaker’s Thick as Thieves series and my first experience with this author’s writing in general.
I felt like Ring Tru was slow to take off but when it did I felt like the twists, turns and pace of the storyline really were perfect for the rest of the book. This turned out to be the type of story you don’t want to set down until it’s completely finished.
The synopsis and gorgeous cover work for this book roped me in pretty quickly. I’ve read suspenseful second chance romance novels before but something about this one felt like it would be different and I honestly felt that it was.
I am not necessarily a fan of second chance romance but I do love stories with danger and suspense mixed so this really hit the mark. I can’t recall reading any books with a female thief as the main character, so really Ring Tru was a refreshing, unique read.
I thought the push and pull between Tru and Will was very intriguing and felt both were really strong characters. Overall I thought that Ring Tru was a great introduction to the Thick as Thieves series and I will definitely be following along with the other books. I would even be interested in exploring more of Janice M. Whiteaker’s writing outside of this series.

Ring Tru was a good 5 star read and the first book in the Thick as Thieves series.
This was my first read from this author and I was pulled right in. We get mystery, suspense, hot and steamy moments, and so much more.
Gertrude (Tru) has one last job to do and she will finally get to settle down and move on. Unfortunately the job entails being the girlfriend to a very old crotchety man, who has some jewelry she wants to get her hands on. When someone from her past shows up, he throws a wrench into everything she has planned.
Will was shocked to see who the mystery woman was that is dating his boss. His ex that he left 5 years ago to protect her. Now she’s right in the middle of a big job and could possibly ruin things for him and get her hurt.
Seeing each other brings back so many feelings of love, hurt, anger, and heat. Can they both get what they want? Will they have a new future together?

Ring Tru is the first book in the Thick as Thieves series from Janice M. Whitaker. I had not had the pleasure of reading anything from Whitaker before and I am so glad that I chose this one to be my first because I loved it! I was definitely gripped from the very first chapter to the last page, and I am anxious to get my hands on the next one in the series.
Tru has one job left before she can be on the path to a straight and narrow life. One problem, her ex is Will is back in the picture and not exactly going to make things easy. Will has always regretted his decision to leave Tru. Regardless of the reasons why he did. He is determined to make up for it now. Will these two be able to work together to pull off this crazy heist? Will they ever overcome their past and the damage that it has caused to have a future together?
This is one of those multilayer stories that leaves you constantly on the edge of the seat. I was never bored. Not only do you have the suspenseful jewelry heist stuff going on, you have the dramatic and tumultuous second chance romance that just tugs at all the right heart strings. It was an even better surprise that it was unpredictable!

I believe this is the first book I’ve read of Janice’s but I guarantee it won’t be the last. It took me a bit to fall in love with this book...once I figured out all the players and their roles I was fully committed and didn’t want it to end. There was a moment I thought it was going to take a direction that was going to make me uneasy, but thankfully I powered through and trusted Janice and kept reading. I can’t wait to read book two in the series Make Me.

Ring Tru is the first book in the Thick as Thieves series by Janice M Whiteaker. It is the first book I have read by here, and I enjoyed it. There is a good balance of romance, suspense and mystery, while being full of emotions of love, loss, trust and second chances. It is the story of Gertrude (Tru) and Will, who are career thieves, who were once married, but parted ways 5 years ago. They both have very different views on how the breakup went, and its interesting to see how they finally get on the same page again. Tru is posing as the trophy girl friend to a rich geriatric, as one last final job, hoping to walk away with enough of his jewelry to start over and never have to do another job. Will is also taking one last job, posing as security to the same rich client, but on a recovery operation. The last thing they each expected was to see each other working the same job, but from a different angle. Now they need to learn to work together to get the job done, before its too late. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and cant wait to read the 2nd in the series and see what happens next.

Gertrude is a “trophy” mistress to Esra, an evil, old man with the morals of a gutter rat. Will, is a member of Esra secruity team. He is Gertrude's ex-husband who deserted her at the lowest point in her life. He thought he was saving her from himself and his life of crime he was sadly mistaken. Will and Gertrude have the same goal, to steal Esra's jewels. Their motivation is not the same. Will is trying to help his friend recover is stolon property while Gertrude (Tru) is there to steal the jewels in order to make a better life for herself. To succeed Will and Tru need to work together that is if Tru can get pass the bitterness of Will's desertion.
Ms. Whiteaker has written and awesome tale with an intriguing story-line and wonderful protagonists. This non-stop page turner is more than worth your time. You will not be sorry this book is a real winner and I hardily recommend it.

Tru has been working her mark for months when her ex-husband and former partner in crime, Will, throws a hitch in her carefully laid plans to rob an aging millionaire blind. Will hasn’t seen Tru in five years, since he left her in the hospital, to protect her from the life he leads. With similar plans and their close friends as back-ups, can Tru and Will achieve their goals without getting caught in the process? I really liked this book, even if it was a little short for my taste. Janice M. Whiteaker accomplished so much in so few pages but she sure tells a good tale! The action and intrigue of the story made it fly by for me! I read it all in just a few short hours and loved every minute! Tru and Will’s relationship is an interesting one and well worth the read! This is only the first book in the Thick as Thieves series and I can’t wait to read what else Janice M. Whiteaker has in store! I give “Ring Tru” five stars!

I really enjoyed this book! When I first read the blurb I was intrigued to read it and whilst it did take me a little bit to get into once I did I was completely hooked. I’ve not read a storyline like this one before which meant it was really refreshing to read. There were some good twists and turns and most were unexpected. I loved Tru – I thought that she was a great female lead. Will was a great male lead and loved the intenseness between them, you can tell that what happened in their past is still at the very front of any interactions between them. The author got the level of suspense perfect and carried on the whole way through the story.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future. Ring Tru is a brilliant read that I highly recommend!

Thievery and romantic suspense? It warms me to the bottom of my greedy, sappy heart. Our leading lady, Tru (who reminded me a bit of Pru from Charmed) has one last job to do before she is out of the thieves life for good, so of course the only thing that could throw a wrench in her perfectly laid plans happens. Her ex-husband, Will, shows up and is clearly shocked by Tru's appearance. He had left her to protect her from the life he lead, but she's still in the thick of it same as him. His self sacrifice and both their broken hearts were all for nothing.

Ring Tru by Janice M. Whiteaker is a must read! It’s a second chance romance/crime/thriller type read, and I enjoyed every second of it. This story is action-packed, dramatic, entertaining and so captivating. From the first chapter I was hooked. I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down, I just had to know how everything was going to play out.
I loved both these main characters from the start and I couldn’t wait to unravel their past, I found Tru and Will very intriguing. I really enjoyed how this story flowed and I loved all of the detail that Janice used, it made it easy to picture everything playing out in my mind as I was taken on a wild journey alongside Tru and Will in their newest acquisition.

Ring Tru (Thick as Thieves Book 1) By Janice M. Whiteaker. I’m a sucker for a second chance romance story with suspense thrown in and this time was no different. Immediately I was drawn into Tru and Will’s story, these two characters had this connection that jumped off the page and has you feeling every single emotion they do. I really enjoyed this story since it was a bit different from my normal reads in a very good way. It’s got some twists and turns that had me turning the pages as fast as possible but also wishing it wouldn’t end so fast. It’s well written and paced nicely. I’m excited to see where the next book takes readers. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone. I’ll definitely be adding to to my read again list!

Ring a True is the first book in the Thick as Thieves series by Janice M. Whiteaker. This is the first book I have read by this author, but definitely won’t be the last. This fast paced book is full of action, drama, suspense and romance thrown in. I was hooked on the very first page, an$ couldn’t put it down till the last. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a good book featuring thieves. Tru is such a wonderful character, and at the beginning I was thinking Will was the bad guy in this story, however, as the story progresses and we learn more about Will the more I sympathize with him and understood why he did some of the things he did. This was a great story and I can’t wait to read more of this series and author.

Ring Tru book one in the Thick As Thieves Series written by Janice M. Whiteaker. This was an interesting suspenseful second chance romance. Tru and Will are great characters and I loved this story. The push and pull from them was great and I loved the ending. Throughout the story you wonder which way the characters will go once you figure out what’s going on but you know there’s something your missing. You know the players and the outcome they want but there’s a missing player and you just keep reading because you have to know who the missing player is and their role. Wills best friend Cooper and Tru's best friend Gretchen are the main characters in book two and I can’t wait to see how their story plays out.

This was a short read but we’ll worth the time spent reading it. You get a feel for every character. Tru was fearless and fragile. Not in the sense that she would break but that her emotional walls are not as strong as she would like. I don’t think most people understand how much it takes to truly forgive someone. I enjoyed this authors writing. I didn’t feel like the story was rushed or missing anything. The characters were well developed. The flow of the authors writing style made it a smooth read as well.

Janice M. Whiteaker's Ring Tru is the first book of the Thick as Thieves series. This romantic suspense is fascinatingly written. Tru and Will are the primary/lead characters in this tale and they distinctly stand out, as they should. I liked Tru's whit and fire that was well established and shown through. Adding in Will's protectiveness and drive, this made a story rife with twists/turns as these two battle out their feelings/connection and try to complete their end game(s). The tug and pull between them was intriguing to read. The hints of their best friends as supporting characters in the story added perfectly to the allure of this story as it unfolded. This was a great beginning to the series and has definitely whetted my appetite and created a desire to see what's next!

Ring Tru by Janice Whiteaker is book one in the Thick as Theives series. The story grabbed me in from the very beginning. Although I was confused a little bit as to what Gertrude was doing but it all became clear when Will was brought back into the picture. Will has left her high and dry in the past, being her ex-husband and all. And now she’s not so quick to trust him. But unfortunately for the both of them, they have to learn to get along. The connection between them jumped off the page no matter the push back they were giving. This was an easy and fast read. The emotion between the characters makes you feel like you are right in the story. This was the first book by this author and I am excited to read more in this series
