Biography
One Fan at a Time

Annette is an award-winning author, published by Affinity Rainbow Publications, who lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her wife and their five furry kids. With over thirty published novels, four Lesfic Bard finalist awards, two Lesfic Bard Awards, and one Goldie Award for her fourth novel, Locked Inside, she finally feels like a real author. Annette is as much a reader as a writer and always looking for the next lesfic novel to cue up. She came up with the One Fan at a Time tagline because it rolled off the tongue much better than One Reader at a Time. After pondering who she was at her core, it was all about connecting to each reader on a personal level. She would be the first to admit she doesn't do well with the masses. If someone picks up her book and it touches them she believes she has achieved what she wants with her writing by reaching each reader. It is who she is at her core. Wow!

Wow, what a magical journey! I've enjoyed every moment of it. This is an adventurous novel that blends unique magic and romance. The characters are colorful and compelling. A fantastical tale written with humor and quirky banter. If you want an escape from this world, I highly recommend this one.

You can read this book in several ways, simply for the joy and the adventure, the “what if’s” of jumping into your favorite book and being part of it all. Or you could read it as a slyly disguised commentary on our present political mess. Either way or both, it’s a hilarious read in dialogue, characters, and voice.

Tanya is an avid book reader, undetermined virgin (yeah, because she’s not even sure if “that” night counted), IT nerd and a nice gal who really wants life to just start. Since that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon, she dives deep into the excitement of story worlds. When a new women focused bookstore opens, Tanya visits and meets the owner, a gorgeous, free spirited blonde named Elle.

The action unfolds from there, full of magic and folktale like scenarios, spells, colorful characters, and a “donkeyhole” of a villain. Yes, there’s a lot of clever wordplay in the book, too. The romance between Tanya and Elle is warm and endearing in its sweetness. Plenty of steamy scenes and fun in this one.

Wow! What a fun, magical ride! This story hooked me from the start with the idea of being able to enter a book and have adventures, then captured my heart with the sweet, unconventional love story between Elle and Tanya, who finds herself stronger and more resourceful than she ever believed. The quirky side characters from Clara, the unconventional auntie to Tolstoy the irascible cat add color and life to the story. I really enjoyed the fascinating glimpse we get into the world of book magicians, even the ruthless bad guy who causes so much trouble.

This book is written in 3rd person omniscient, which normally I’m not a huge fan of but Mori makes it work in this tale of magic realism. This way I could find out about the magic-users who live in a hidden parallel society in a seamless, organic way. I feel that the author has put a lot of herself into this story and it shows in the genuine voice of the narrative. We get brief glimpses into a few books Tanya reads and I would love to read them all! Especially the one with the librarian and the sexy camping scene plus the lifesaving alien who I will always picture as Oren in drag.

Another reviewer remarked that this book can also be read as an allegory to what is currently happening with the new laws targeting women and the LGBT+ community in the United States and the outcomes of such laws. On the surface, this is a fun, adventurous romance but it carries a deep message that should not be ignored.

A very strange story, on Kindle Unlimited. I'm usually all for strange. If it's well written. But I'm thinking this author isn't for me.

The two from them I've tried to read have both come off quite naive in tone, and immature in dialogue and story. The author utilizes illogical scenarios and characters that often fail to act and react as one should. I get it, it's a story - we suspend belief especially with weird characters and stories that have fantastical elements, but there comes a point where it becomes a bit too farcical and the dialogue too unbelievable, which ultimately makes things uncomfortable, and had me asking myself why I was reading it.

This moment came about at 51% for me. When after making love, one of the couple says to the other, after being offered some underwear: "I go commando, but it would be nice to feel a silky pair of underwear that had once nestled against your pussy.”

🤮 🤢

The blurb doesn't really do it justice or detail an outline well enough, I feel. Tanya is a regular human woman, introverted, works with computers but doesn't have any social life, and lives her life in her books. She thinks she's a plain Jane who lives life in the background never being noticed. She turns up at a new bookshop opening in town, since she's such a book addict and meets Elle who is quick to give her free books and woo her with kind words.

Elle is a book magician, from a long line of female magicians, where there's a sort of political upheaval happening with the magic in their world, and a patriarchy bent on stripping womens magics and powers, and deny any non-magic relationships (her father was spirited away by the powers that be, because he was not magic.) But the thing is... she comes off incredibly naive and not knowing what the heck she is doing. Her own mother and grandmother and aunt all seemed to only give her snippets of information and knowledge to do her job.

Which is to find 'chosen' people to give spelled books to, wherein they can go on actual adventures in them and have a life changing experience that will hopefully help them in their lives.

Tanya is chosen, Elle in infatuated with her, Tanya in return. is, too. But the evil wizard scrotum-face as he is called (yah, lots of time is spent on immature nicknames.) is deliberately sabotaging books to cause harm to humans and strip female magicians of their powers.... Tanya learns this information and takes it all on board, very casually and infact jumps right in to want to help Elle and her family defeat ole donkey-hole, or whatever he's called.
Oh there's also a prophecy about a 'book addict' who can defeat evil and set about a new era for magicians.

Again it just came off way too easy and unbelievable. Like yes Tanya believes in stories and magics, she's a true romantic at heart so she is willing to go along with this stuff, even if it's dangerous - but it felt odd, not natural. The romance is downright weird. Both are constantly making sex jokes like they are teenagers, despite them being around 30.

Elle insists they can't have a relationship because of the rules between human and magicians and what happened to her father - yet she is constantly making advances on Tanya, holding her hand, kissing her, and then actively popping into an erotic book to have sex with Tanya... like what?

It just didn't make any sense. Tanya is all, "I can't believe this hot amazing woman wants ME, the shy and plain book worm"... and of course Elle is all "you're more extraordinary than you think, you are goregeous and hot!!!" and the hotness keeps getting repeated..

I just got tired of it and couldn't force myself to continue. I'm sure others may love it, if you're into very emotionally immature characters and juvenile scenarios, with farcical elements, perhaps you'll enjoy it.

Annette Mori‘s latest, “The Book Addict,” was me first book of hers that I read, thanks to the author herself who sent me a complimentary copy! And I must also thank Rachael Byrne ( Lesbian Fiction Group by Les Reveur ) for picking me to win some e-books from some lovely authors!

Not having had any experience with Mori’s writing previously, I was curious to discover her writing style and storytelling tone. And what better way to find out than to read her latest creation, eh? I was glad “The Book Addict” was me first Mori reading material because it’s about something I’ve always loved all me life – BOOKS! Only this time, it’s ENCHANTING books! Blimey!! I couldn’t wait to read it! Love me some creative stories!

Needless to say, “The Book Addict” was a delightfully fun and quick read. All I can say is, when I ventured into the first chapters, me mind immediately went to one of me all-time favourite childhood movies, “The Neverending Story,” and most recently, “Jumanji“!! Yup, I’m sure you know what I’m getting at with the mention of these two films, eh? To make it even clearer, remember how Harry Potter got zapped into the diary of Tom Riddle in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?” Well… that’s EXACTLY what Mori’s “The Book Addict” was! I was thrilled about what to expect upon that realisation! As a child who loved living in her own world inside her head and a bookworm since 4, I’ve always found meself immersed inside every book I was reading that captured me attention. I would be experiencing the characters’ journeys, but purely as an observer rather than a participant. So, to read about Tanya, who was like me, an avid reader, except, rather than being an observer, she was a participant, living vicariously through the characters and stories she was reading about, was refreshingly intriguing!

This was SO much fun!

I loved every minute of reading Tanya’s adventure with Elle. In a quirky, humorous, and exciting way that only Annette Mori can provide, every second of this story is magical, fun, and absolutely fantastic.

It has intense moments, funny moments, romantic moments, and very sexy moments. The characters are brilliant, especially the delightful Tanya who is just the cutest book addict ever!!!

When I first saw the title I thought I was in for a book geek romance but I got so much more than that, and I am so happy. Everything about this book was exciting, providing a brilliant adventure that was as addictive as Tanya finds books!!!

What I really want to know though, is where can I get a book magician??????

This really was a fantastic read that I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed every minute of it and highly recommend this book.

This is a wonderful fantasy involving magicians, wizards and a book addict. The story is interesting and the plot moves along at a good pace. I really enjoyed stepping away from the real world and into this fantasy.

A solid 4.5 ⭐️

Home run

When you open novel by this author you literally never know quite what you are going to get. Her stories are all very different, quirky, with unusual characters and served with a huge dollop of humor. I loved some of the terms Annette came up with like donkeyhole. My all time favorite that I have started using poopbiscuits.😂 Annette you hit this out of the ball park and can't wait for the sequel. I definitely recommend this book.

This should be a best seller. The book is just so magical and the characters are so appealing and I can identify totally. Please buy this book and enjoy it. Truly it's one of those books you can't put down and you will be re-reading it. I promise that you will be falling in love with these women and Tolstoy is delightful. Really treat yourself - this book is like a visit to a spa only better.

I had a hard time getting past the whole book magician thing hence the lower rating. It’s just such a silly basis for a book. But otherwise it was sweet and silly. Unfortunately not really my style.

How many time have you wanted to enter the story your reading? Annette Mori’s new book takes you there. I have always loved Annette’s quirky attitude but this one takes you to an awesome place. This is fantasy at its best with just a touch of real life. What an enchanting story from my favorite writer

Well, here we go again on another grand adventure! A nicely written novel by Ms. Mori, it manages to combine action and romance with a good dose of humor. We have Tanya, our MC, who leads an extraordinarily humdrum life, accompanied by her faithful kitty. And then we have Elle, who is the owner of a bookstore, and someone not interested--or afraid of, or both--of settling for Ms. Right, as opposed to Ms. Right Now.

Well, enter the magic part, and while I won't divulge the details, The Book Addict manages to take the old trope of stepping into a magical setting and turning it on its head.

What I liked. Nice characters, quick pace, solid dialogue. I appreciate a novel that has a fast narrative without skipping over any details, and this novel delivers.

Minus points-very minor ones. A few punctuation mistakes here and there, and a couple of paragraphs that could have been separated, but neither of those things were enough to make me change my mind about the book.

Highly recommended. Yes, it's a lesfic book--deal with it. I think anyone would enjoy reading it. I certainly did, and you will, too.

I really wanted to love this book. The concept is imaginative and interesting but the execution fell largely flat for me. The romance had a lot of potential but felt rushed and heavy handed, and the dialogue was awkward and clunky. However, giving three stars instead of the two I debated leaving because I don’t think the book is “bad,” it just wasn’t really for me.

Awesome concept

What would you do if you could jump into a story, and actually be one of the characters? The book has to be enchanted by a book magician's spell in order for that to happen. I'd love to have adventures like that, and if we could go without chronic pain or a disability, that would make it even better. (That part didn't happen in the book though.) Here, it was more like being transported to a holodeck of the Star Trek spinoff fame, and possibly get a little motion sickness on the way there. I'm ready for the next book in the series.

The book addict is a wonderful tale of two women finding love through the magic of books. Tanya believes she is someone in the background that no one notices. Elle realizes there is more to Tanya than meets the eye. She is determined to give Elle her own book adventure. As the two women fall in love, they must right some wrongs that have taken place in the magician sector. If you believe in the magic books, this is the book for you.

No, gracias.

just wonderful

books are unquestionably one of the greatest achievements of our species. To pass information from generation to generation is magic. What if we could get truly lost in a book and experience it as reality, our personal movie? What a way to relax and learn to just relax and rest. This engaging story and its wonderful characters do just that.

Loved it. ❤️

Books that are infused with magic by witches become reality. which can be full of fun and wonderful adventures. However, not all stories are nice! Wizards are not playing by the rules that lead to dire consequences.
