Karlie tries, but like every other girl that sees him play, she fails.
Jax likes having a different girl every night. He’s a love ‘em and leave ‘em type. That is until he meets Karlie. She’s a challenge that he is determined to win over, but he just doesn’t know how.
Will he tame his wild ways to win the girl of his dreams?
A.M. Williams is just a simple girl from the south that found herself living abroad. When she’s not annoying her cat or reading, she’s spending time with her husband and traveling as much as possible. She has a serious case of wanderlust and wants to go as many places as possible while she can. She loves Cheerwine, sweet tea, and North Carolina (eastern style) BBQ as well as those crystal clear waters on the North Carolina coast.
Jax is a player. He doesn't date and he chooses the easy lay. He's selfish and only interested in a good time. That is until he meets Karlie. She's a friend of one of the band members and he's warned to stay away.
Karlie is a teacher she likes to spend her evenings at home in front of the telly and only dates the sensible choice. She's been burnt in the past and isn't interested in playing the fool again. Karlie is very close with her best friend Bailey. Bailey's long-term on/off beau is a member of a local band and she drags Karlie out for the night. Karlie is on to Jax right from the start but he wants a chance with her so he's willing to put more effort in than usual. If Jax wants something more than one night stands he's going to have to change his ways. If he wants Karlie he's going to have to get over himself and stop being an A**hole.
Southern Sands is the name of the band and the series this book belongs to. Jax is book one. It's a standalone story. The ending sets the story for book two which is about Bailey.
I really liked this book. The characters are developed well (flaws and all). Bailey and Karlie have a good relationship. Their friendship is a story on its own. Jax is a likeable character but he's far from perfect.
DNF @ 70% Skimmed heavily just to get there... Writing is TERRIBLE...Just. FUCKING. TERRIBLE.
The H is a child. A total idiot. The h is an eye-roll worthy snowflake. I’m just done.
SG Ladies: OW scene at beginning where he sneaks out of her bed the next morning. Hint of a possible OW after she rejects him one night before they get together. Then during separation he gets one OW off but claims he never actually fucks any of the girls after break up. Whatever...it’s so poorly written this book isn’t worth anyone’s time.
I gave this Book a rating of 5 ✩’s Title: Jax Series: (Southern Sands Book 1 Genre: Author: A.M. Williams Format: Kindle Edition Published on: Nov 6, 2018

This is book 1 to the Southern Sands series and this is the story of Jax and Karlie. Karlie is a school teacher she goes out with her best friend Bailey to a concert and that’s where she meets Jax. Jax plays for the band Southern Sands he’s a player and he loves it, he doesn’t need to chase women they just go to him. Jax meets Karlie at the end of his gig but she gets pushed out the way by other women so she just goes home.that is just the beginning of this story but there is so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Really enjoyed this book, although Karlie was a good girl and Jax a player I loved how they came together and how their relationship blossomed, of course we knew it wouldn’t just be plain sailing, it had some really lovely parts when they were admitting things to themselves with such a lovely ending 😊 can’t wait for Harry’s book! 😁 I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jax is the first book in a new series (Southern Sands) by A.M. Williams. Jax is a smokin’ hot, womanizer who plays guitar in popular cover band. Karlie is a middle school teacher who meets Jax at one of his performances as she is friends with their lead singer. There is instant attraction between the two of them, but she resists acting on it because she has been burned in the past while Jax is wants to get to know her and date her.
Karlie finally gives a relationship with him a try, but Jax actions remind her of why she was wary of starting anything with him. I am going to be honest here, I didn’t love Jax. I liked him in the beginning and I liked him towards the end, but some of his behaviors in the middle of the book got to me. I really liked Karlie because even though she was wary of dating Jax, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and also because she knew that she deserved respect and wouldn’t accept any less. Even though he never really dated, some of the stuff he pulled with Karlie should have been common sense. I am not sure that I would so easily trust him again although I do feel that he did redeem himself. I really liked the secondary characters of Harry and Bailey and I would love to learn more about the other band members in future books.
Jax is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger and a HEA. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.

3.5 stars Jax is a member of a popular cover band with a huge female following. He has an issue with commitment and always goes for the easy girls until he meets Karlie. Karlie is a good girl. She is a middle school teacher and has also been burned in the past. When they meet there is an instant attraction. However, Karlie does not fall at Jax's feet. Their first meeting gives her an insight into his life. Groupies were all over him. Jax is intrigued and pursues her. their relationship is up and down. Jax push and pull causes heartbreak and anger for Karlie. Can Jax get it together before he loses the best thing that ever happened to him? This is book 1 in the series and it opens the door for a good group of stories. Karlie and Jax are believable characters. Jax did not change overnight, he worked through his insecurities and selfishness throughout the story. Karlie was not a doormat. She knew what she wanted in a relationship and if Jax couldn't deliver then she wanted nothing to do with him. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

When I read the book I was on a roller coster ride when it came to Jax and Karlie's relationship. Jax is presented as a bad boy who does not believe in relationships, and is a womanizer, but this has to due to his past when he was younger. Karlie is the good girl that was betrayed from a previous relationship and now guards her heart. They both have a past that carries into their relationship, and these issues placed their relationship on the rocks. They had problems I felt it could have resolved with some communication they both lacked as a couple. In the end it clicks that they need to communicate more and worked out their issues so they get their happy ending. I do have to point out that I really loved Jax relationship with his mother, it demonstrated another side of his bad boy persona.

Very realistic life situations and internal machinations of people. I liked the main male character, flaws and all, as sometimes we all have something we are striving for but for some reason or other, we just do not attain our goal, even though we would dearly like to. I could totally relate to this character. The main female character worked at her relationship with the main male character but sometimes things were beyond her control. Again, I could relate to her internal machinations. It is hard not to be judgmental in some circumstances. Good: romance, story, characterizations and interpersonal relations. I am new to this author but plan on reading the stories of the entire group.
Good job.

Karlie is the good girl teacher, who falls for the bad boy rock guitarist. He tries to tame his womanising ways to prove his love for her and keep her faith in him, but it is a struggle at times, especially when girls are through themselves at him.
This is the first in the Southern Sands series, but can be read as a standalone. The rock band are from Carolina and the colloquialisms used are really entertaining. Really helps with the immersion into their world.
Well worth a read and looking forward to Bailey and Harry's story next.
Jax is a player in a southern rock band as well as a player of women until he meets Karlie. But she ignores him. She’s been burned by a love ‘em and leave ‘em type of guy. Challenge thrown down and accepted by Jax. Of course, it would help if he got a clue about women and relationships! A fun read that is the beginning of a great sounding series.

This story takes us on a journey through a relationship that is full of pitfalls. She has been hurt in the past and he is unwilling to take a chance on a future. I loved her character and I totally understood where she was coming from - great writing by the author. I couldn't understand why he acted as he did other than he panicked. I loved how the author pulled the story together and gave us the ending she did. Good story.
A. M’s wiring style gives us great detail into past present and future. I like story’s that aren’t just superficial. It was great his she gave Jax and June such a close relationship. It made the story so much more real. Don’t let all of that confuse you it has the angst. It has the sexy asshole man whore. It has scared girl. It has the crazy best friend. It has the lust and sex. It has everything. Great great read.
A well written story with an interesting storyline. Jax and Karlie gave me a roller coster ride of emotions. The characters were great, well developed and likeable with strong steamy chemistry. This story caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I was pulled right into this story. This is the first story I read by this author and I was not disappointed. Well written and kept me guessing. I loooooved the insert of songs and enjoyed the characters. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and a little heartbreak. Great read!
I enjoyed reading this book. Karlie and Jax made a great couple. It was hard to put down, the romance was hot. It's a book that is like what happens in some relationships where it has it's up and down's and jealousy. I can't wait to read the second book if it's still available. Thanks A.M. Williams.
I will say if this is how this new sock series is going to start then I look forward to reading more of it. The characters are well put together and the storyline was interesting.

This was an interesting read, well written but I felt it was aimed more at a younger audience. I have no doubt that the younger generation would thoroughly enjoy the trials and tribulations of this band and their women.
Karlie and Jax are both wary of relationships but can not stay away from each other. Can they work through their issues and make it work? This is a very good read that I thouroughly enjoyed

I really enjoyed this story. I loved that we actually saw Jax's growth after the end of their relationship. Also, glad to see Karlie allow him in even with her insecurities. I would have liked to see an epilogue with Jax and Karlie but I'll continue on with the series.
I was really into this book until the end. The ending was rushed. I would have liked for the epilogue to tell us more about what happened with Jax and Karlie rather than leading into the next book in the series.
Fantastic love story about two people taking a chance on love even though past relationships resulted in a broken heart. Loved reading how Jax and Karlie both worked through their past issues and took a chance on each other. Great read!
I loved the sweet and how sultry the book was. It had just what I was looking for, and I didn't even know it! I'm looking forward to more good reads from this author!
