Vaughn Morris survives on denial and hope. He spends his days permanently marking other’s skin and his nights trying to forget the scars embedded in his soul. No longer the defenseless teenager he used to be, he returns to his home town, never expecting to fall for a woman who is just as complicated as he is.

Rayne Garner hasn’t truly lived in years. When she was too young to know better, she made a promise to a man who didn’t deserve her loyalty. Nobody has made her question that decision, until Vaughn—a man whose pain is well hidden beneath his cocky exterior and dark, mysterious eyes. But in order to heal him, Rayne must face the brutal reality she’s been trying to deny.

A friendship they didn’t need turns into a love neither thought they wanted. Rayne and Vaughn not only have to fight for each other, they must survive threats from a past they’re both trying to overcome.

The first time Anna tried to read a romance novel, her hair caught on fire when she leaned over a candle to sneak a peek at her mom’s Harlequin. She thinks being hit on the head with a shirtless Fabio until the smoke cleared is what sparked the flame for her love of romance.
Anna was born in Wisconsin, but currently lives in Texas with her husband and two boys. She writes sexy romance that always has a happy ending and loves bringing characters back for cameos. Less than six degrees of separation connects any of her novels.
When she’s not writing or reading, she’s watching reruns of her favorite romcoms, talking to her dog and cat like they’re human, eating carbs, or practicing hand lettering.
She loves to hear from readers and can be found on social media as @annabrooksauth everywhere.

descriptionThis cover is OK. A fairly good representation of the hero. The composition is OK. I am not crazy about the font, size, or placement of the title.description

descriptionI had to think on this one a bit before I sat down to write my review. I think overall I really enjoyed it. This author has an engaging writing style. The pace moved along nicely and kept my attention throughout. It had some interesting side characters. Some fairly hot sex scenes. It had a good amount of angst and drama. No (real) OM/OW drama and a sweet epilogue.

My issue, and why I had to think a bit about this one was the two main characters. The heroine was a bit...I don't know...annoying I guess. The whole situation with Bryan just seemed to be a bit MUCH for someone who was just 22. Especially since the situation started when she was 20. Why did all the adults around her allow her to continue with such unhealthy behavior? I could see letting it go on for a bit, but two years?! Then she basically snaps out of it lickady split when she meets Vaughn.

description

And Vaughn was no better. A few years older than the heroine and he had a list of issues a mile long. There was just so much baggage connected to the two main characters that I sometimes found myself rolling my eyes and disconnecting from them. Not to mention the ridiculous miscommunication issues. That type of angst drives me NUTS because I just want to yell F-ING TALK already!

But like I said even with ALL that I was still sucked into the story. I still enjoyed it a lot overall. I'm interested in going back to read book one (Fixing Fate) and I will be keeping an eye out for book three (Steady) So this one earns one thumb and one pinkie finger up from yours truly.description

This is my first book by miss brooks. I dont like it. I feel like reading a book with no originality. The story, plot, characters are chops from other books and jam it togehter. The conversationn, the supporting character is non existence.

And the thing they done in someone else wedding is just ridiculous instead of romantic.

Just 2 stars.

This is what it feels like to love somebody more than you love yourself. To know you'd do anything, be anybody, and risk everything just to see her smile.

My first book by this author and I liked it. Anna has a beautiful writing style and this book is very special. The story flew nice, I loved the amazing chemistry between the main characters.

Love, Me is such a heartwarming romantic story, I highly recommend it.

Anna Brooks is a Master at writing. She always gives the most Beautifully Written Stories. This is another 6 Star read for me.

This book damn but This book is gonna be stuck in my mind for awhile, which is no surprise really I'm always in a funk when it comes to Anna's books. There is no way I can read a new book. Yes Ladies she is that damn good.....

This book Grabs you from page one. Yes its Insta- love but so so different. This is such a beautiful Insta-love. A different Kinda level of insta-love.... but Your heart breaks for these two, just shatters for them both.... There are times I had my tears roll down my face. I had to hold my sob in. And when I couldn't it escaped... That's how fantastic this story is. The things Rayne and Vaughn have been through in theirs pasts is absolutely soul crushing. And I mean Soul. Crushing. They were so young and have had to witness their own kind of hell and wash their own life lessons.

But that all ends when they meet each. They Click instantly. They have this unexplainable chemistry. Such powerful chemistry that it actually forces them to heal, to move forward and most importantly Love again. These two are tortured by their pasts that it's absolutely hard but as always Faith cannot be derailed and love will always Conquer All.

This story does have alot of angst, but angst that was so necessary . It was what kept you engrossed in this story. Angst that was so great, it was actually nail biting. Really Ladies even the Angst was phenomenal in this story. The pace and flow of this was so well planned and thought of that the angst is never prolonged or over done.

Even with the "Oh Hell No" Twists and " OMFG" angsty moments there was Beautiful dialogue and Steamy Hot sex scenes Hot Really Hot....

I loved their friends and family and can't wait to see who gets the next book. And if what I hear is right it maybe Polly and that's is just damn Awesome.

Enjoy ladies!!!!

Rayne Garner hasn't been living a life in years. A promise that she made when she was younger, she holds to, and it has her stuck in limbo. No man has ever made her question her promise, until she meets Vaughn, who makes her heart race. Vaughn Morris had a horrific childhood that he barely survived, which has made him gun shy about getting close to anyone. But he can't help himself when he meets Rayne, as he feels a connection to her that he can't deny. At the beginning, I had a slight problem getting into it, maybe because all the secret baggage made it a bit confusing. However, at about 25% in, I hit my stride, and couldn't get enough. Rayne is a great girl, except for her block about that certain promise, which had me all kinds of frustrated. And though Vaughn was super yummy, he had his moments as well. But together, they lit up my kindle with explosive sexy scene goodness. I really enjoy Anna Brooks talented writing style, as she gets my emotions going with the intense angst. With an entertaining cast of secondaries, the well placed humor had me laughing in between heart wrenching moments, and a few twists and turns made for some worthy f-bomb dropping moments. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Rayne and Vaughn in the future, and am excited to see what she comes up with next. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Arc received from author for an honest review from us drunks at http://www.facebook.com/twounrulygirls

This book was insta-love at it's finest. The attraction, connection and is this what I should be doing was apparent from the very start. Insta love for me is easier to connect with when I like both of the main characters and luckily I did. There was sadness and regret that exuded from Vaughn that pulled at my bad boy with something to prove heart. And Rayne had been burned and wasn't looking to get anywhere near the fire that love brought again..until a mysterious man next door made it nearly impossible to back away from. There were twists and turns, heart, friendships and a love that made both of them break through their tough, can't let anybody in exteriors. Another cute read from Ms. Brooks!! Look forward to more.

What happens when you have your happily ever after in your sights and suddenly it's gone?...or is it? This is the limbo that Rayne has been living in for the last two years. When she meets Vaugh she fights tooth and nail against the instant attraction. Vaugh grew up being second to everything, he's built a huge wall around himself and rarely puts himself out there. As we get more and more of his back story, you really won't blame the guy. There is some push and pull with this story, but it flows really well. I loved both these characters. This author does well in surprising me with unexpected connections and she did it again here....didn't see that coming!

Anna Brooks is one of my favourite go-to authors when I am after a story packed full of emotions and FEELS, and Ms. Brooks once again delivers in LOVE, ME.

What set this story apart for me was that both the hero and heroine are hiding emotionally traumatic pasts. What we are treated to is an emotionally charged journey which sees both Vaughn and Rayne overcoming their fears and learning to trust again. And in Vaughn's case, allowing himself to let another person love him for everything that he is and believing that that person will not leave him.

This story captivated me from the very start and had my complete interest right till the very end. The story was well paced and unpredictable, and had well developed characters. I love the way Ms. Brooks always ties the next book into the current one and she did that brilliantly to lead into Erik and Polly's story! As always I am already waiting with bated breath for her next book!!

Rayne hung on for two years waiting to hear from the love of her life, Bryan. She would call him daily leaving messages hoping that he would return her call. To be with someone else, would that be considered cheating?
Vaughn was a survivor of an abusive childhood. He also had deep dark secrets that could cause him to lose the love of his life and possibly head to prison.
There was an amazing chemistry between the characters. A well written story. Loved the story so much I read it twice.
Unconditional love, secrets, steamy sex, hearbreak.
I'm volunteering an honest review for an advance reader's copy.

Jumped right in to the second book without reading the first, though they are standalones. Might explain the unpopular opinion. Decided I couldn’t finish it. Male protag’s too whiny.

Update, finished 08/20/21: I forgot I had already attempted this book and gave it a(nother) shot. I saw what I meant about the male MC being very whiny. He was kinda needy/clingy, honestly, but then she was too. I think they both needed therapy, especially the male MC, at least the fem MC was working through her problems for most of the book. The male MC just kinda dealt with his and expected the fem MC to as well. I didn’t like that he wasn’t particularly willing to work on himself for the good of their relationship. He wanted so much from her, her secrets, her time, her “love”, but he held a lot of himself back. They even had an argument where she confronted him about his reservations when he pushed her to tell him why she wanted him to leave her house for the night and instead of telling her the TRUTH, he flipped it back on her and said HE was “giving her everything” (whenever that phrase is used, angst city has materialized and I’m never one to enjoy walking it’s streets) and the argument just dissolved because the fem MC gave up her very good point.

I’ve always seen literary relationships like this one as potentially toxic. They never really address the cracks in their relationship because conversations get sidetracked by one partner or the other, the people involved are highly co-dependent, and there’s a lot of high emotion being thrown around.

I don’t understand why the MCs are together. What about him made her want to give up the ghost (ha) and get back in the saddle? What about her made him need to pursue her so hard? I didn’t feel a real connection. And when it came to the fem MC needing support around the whole ex situation, he got really weird about it. In a normal relationship, when the ex isn’t dead and might be somewhere close, I could understand the male MC’s feelings. But the ex was missing for years and she was the last hold out who believed he could come back any minute, and when she finally let his memory go, she found out he was dead for real. That’s some extenuating circumstances where I feel some amount of ex discussion is warranted. They had also been together during some key developmental years and he was her only boyfriend before the male MC. The fem MC was too apologetic when it came to trying to reassure the male MC that this chapter of her life was over, I think she was still in the submissive role she had been with her ex. She was still doing some serious emotional spring cleaning and that takes time…and patience. He hadn’t fixed his personal shit, which came between them on a regular basis and dragged her into the mud a little too, but he wanted it to “just be (them)” in their bed. Mmm no. That’s not how this works. People are an amalgamation of what their environment has made them and their own self-determination. You can’t completely separate the fem MC from her ex because she is what she is because of him to some extent. When you get into bed with someone, you’re going to bed with all their baggage. It just really irked me how his expectations of her were so unrealistic and not very sensitive to her needs (another red flag to me and definitely something that reminded me of what her relationship might have looked like with her ex).

I thought the male MC’s tough guy background kinda came out of left field. There wasn’t any hint of him associating with drug dealers or knowing how to fight until there was a manufactured opportunity for him to whip out his mad skillz. The llama drama with his store robbing past was also stupid. She forgave him super quickly (within the span of the moderately long conversation) despite her initial horrified reaction. If she was going to react like that (and apparently it scarred her mom, which is a pretty serious offense), why didn’t the thought of telling her parents cross her mind? I’m actually kinda curious why she didn’t think of it at all. To be honest, telling them wouldn’t have done anything good, and it was a long time ago, but I wanted to hear the fem MC’s reasoning.

Another red flag is that when either MC asked for space to think and process, the other would blatantly disregard the request and force them into interacting with them. There is nothing wrong with telling your partner you need time alone, and they should always respect it because they should respect you and your needs. I would have been okay if they said they didn’t want to leave the other completely alone and offered to hang out in a different room in case the other wanted to talk later, but to make your partner talk to you when they say they don’t want to is bad news. There are times to push but there are also times to sit back and wait. When the issues popped up they were pretty emotionally jarring, and I thought it was okay for the MCs to take a bit to process them first. Harassing someone who is already teetering on the edge is a recipe for a blowout. Wasn’t about it.

Overall, I didn’t like this book. It was too angsty (I think angst should be a seasoning not the entire fricking dish) and the parts between the angst were boring. I liked how it tried to tackle a serious question of when to let go of your grief, and the emotional growth of the fem MC was really cool. But I didn’t see anything that made me want to root for the characters. I did love the title though. Didn’t really think it fit the context of the book very well unfortunately (the entire thing isn’t about the male MC’s letters to his mom), but in other circumstances, it would have been cute.

This is the 2nd book of the series and it is about Rayne and Vaughn meeting and instantly falling in love pretty much and Rayne fighting her attraction/feelings for Vaughn for a large part of the story. They both have some problems that they need to work through and it keeps them from enjoying themselves. I was glad when they finally worked through them together. I enjoyed the way these two characters interacted and how cute they were together. Sometimes I thought Rayne was a little much but I still enjoyed this book and am still enjoying the series.

I finished this waaay back in May but ooops exams hit me so hard
but after months I still remember how good the plot was. it`s not a cliche and it`s not about an easy life even though it`s not a heavy read by any means
yeah sure it`s for adults and won`t recommend for the faints of hearts (most of my classmates, haha) but it is a story that I clap and salute Anne for, and tell to said classmates myself (they liked it!)

Rayne💘Vaughn! I Loved the Story & Narration🎧

Love, Me
A Pleasant Valley Novel
By: Anna Brooks
Narrated by: J. F. Harding, Bunny Warren

This is such a great story, I enjoyed every word of it. I love Anna Brooks’ writing style and what she creates, the storylines and the characters. They are realistic, relatable and contain a lot of heart. “Love, Me” it is part of her “Pleasant Valley” series but stands on it’s own. We heard of Vaughn in an earlier book, learned of his mad tattoo skills, that he is one of the best tattoo artists in the area and there is a wait list to get an appointment. He opens his shop right next to Rayne’s family sandwich business. He comes in while Rayne was working the counter and there is an instant attraction between them. But she is pining for someone else and she fights that attraction and pushes Vaughn away. I loved the chemistry between those two. Turns out the two have mutual friends too, her best friend Kennedy and his cousin Brad are engaged. BTW, I just loved those two, especially Kennedy. A lot goes in Rayne and Vaughn’s story, drama, angst, twists as well as romance. I felt bad for Rayne and what she was going thru with Bryan. But my heart really goes out to Vaughn and what he had to go thru growing up. Each of them have their own heartbreaks and demons and once all is revealed healing can begin. Guilt can be a cruel b*tch, even when misplaced. Only getting past it can set you free. Anna Brooks thank you for that anther great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, J.F. Harding and Bunny Warren are awesome narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. I just loved J.F. Harding’s Vaughn, his swoon worthiness and his attitude were perfect. Bunny Warren’s Rayne was great too. Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

Love, Me (A Pleasant Valley Novel) by Anna Brooks
5x a million stars!

This is my first book by this author and all I can think of is why have I never read one of her books because this was amazing!!

Rayne Garner works at her parents restaurant, she made a promise to her boyfriend and has remained completely loyal, and faithful since. She lives her life for someone that really doesn't even deserve it. She has amazing friends and family that are always there when she needs them. She has never thought twice about being disloyal until she meets the guy that just rented the store next door to the restaurant.

Vaughn Morris just moved back to town and rents a building to open his tattoo shop. He comes off as a tough guy yet has deep feelings. His childhood was awful and he has never had the family he wished he'd had. He is haunted daily with memories of his past life in this town and questions coming back until he meets the girl at the restaurant next door.

There is an instant connection between Rayne and Vaughn, the problem is the more he pursues the more she backs away yet always comes back. The mixed signals drive Vaughn nuts and when she begs to just be friends he makes it clear that won't be enough for him. When he finds out there's a boyfriend he backs away. He will never touch another man's woman. Rayne just can't help being pulled back towards Vaughn every chance she gets. She can see that underneath all his cockiness there is a lot of pain, but how can she help him when she can't face her own reality. Can they both get past the challenges that lie ahead of them? Can each one find happiness?

I truly loved this story. the characters were written so perfectly and I fell in love with everyone in this book. The author caught me off guard a couple times, I can normally read a book and come up with what might happen, but in this one there were a couple surprises. I can not wait to read all of her other books. This was amazing and I highly recommend it!

In Love, Me by Anna Brooks we are introduced to Rayne Garner, a twenty something young lady who is living a half-life due to a promise made when she was younger to someone that may not deserve that promise. Rayne’s life up to this point consists of work, home, sleep, wake-up and repeat. With the exception of her best friend and confidante, Kennedy and his fiancé Brad, Rayne has few friends and that’s just the way she likes it, that is, until fate intervenes.
One afternoon while closing up the sandwich shop that her parents own and Rayne works at a customer comes in. That customer happens to be Vaughn Morris the new owner of a space next door to the restaurant that he is turning into a tattoo parlor. Right from the start Vaughn is taken with Rayne and wants to spend more time with her. Rayne feels the same spark as Vaughn but because of her promise feels like that would be the wrong thing for her to do.
Vaughn is persistent though and eventually Rayne agrees to be friends with him. Unfortunately her feelings of guilt keep throwing a wrench into the couple’s budding relationship. Can Rayne learn to live her life and put her past behind her?
Vaughn is a strong character who knows what he wants but is having a hard time convincing the woman he loves that she wants the same things. He has had a hard life growing up and now that he is older he wants to be happy and he wants Rayne to be his happiness.
This book was very well written and easy to read, so well written that I was unaware that it was part of a series. I didn’t feel as if I was missing anything by reading this out of context. I would definitely recommend this story and I will be going back and ready Ms. Brooks’ other book(s) in this series.

Fast becoming a one-click author for me, Anna Brooks continues her Pleasant Valley series with this emotionally filled story of Vaughn and Rayne. Vaughn has had a terrible childhood, the rejection from his mother forever scarring his heart. Rayne is pining over a boyfriend that is now part of her past, but she cannot get over. These two when they meet have such a ferocity of chemistry, one wanting to move ahead, one wanting to slip back. Each having issues from their past, hurts to overcome and problems to solve, but there is something more has pulled me into this story over and above that. I think the way that Vaughn is with Rayne is so primal, his need for her so basic, it caught me a little off guard and had me fall in love quickly with the story. Rayne proves to be just as powerful with her love and devotion, and no matter the circumstance, these two know they are meant to be. And for good measure, there is a little suspense thrown into the story as well, with the view of Petey and Dirt that we met in book 1 and a little of their backstory, we get a glimpse of danger lurking. Love the addition of Brad and Kennedy, fabulous characters to give some depth to their friendships with Vaughn and Rayne as well a shout out to the band from Anna Brook's book Prove me Right! I love crossover cameos!

Two of my favorite narrators, JF Harding and Bunny Warren read Vaughn and Rayne's story. Harding has such emotional value in his voice, I find myself easily invested in Vaughn. He gives him that alpha sound with the feels necessary to make Vaughn hot and vulnerable at the same time. Warren has a voice perfect for Rayne. At times you can feel the desperation, but always the perseverance and love needed to make her keep moving forward.

Love Me- Anna Brooks

5 Stars Review

“The past still hangs onto us, making it hard to move sometimes because it’s so crippling.”

Love Me by Anna Brooks is most definitely a 5 star book! The characters are perfect and the storyline is just plain beautiful. I experienced so many emotions while reading this, sadness, empathy, love, and happiness. And of course like any great book tears were shed, some happy and some sad. For some unknown reason I really connected with this story, it seems like one of those stories where everyone can relate in some way to a character. It was a brilliant written story and I’m so happy I was able to read this one.

Rayne and Vaughn were made for each other. He comes into her life at the perfect time. She has been dealing with her grief for a long time and its finally time to move on and start fresh. They have both been dealing with their haunting pasts and with each other’s help they’ll be able to pick up the pieces of their broken lives. They’ll soon realize the strength of their love as truths are revealed that make them question everything.

I loved this story so much I read it in one sitting, I honestly couldn’t put it down! Rayne and Vaughn are so perfectly described in this story, and honestly who doesn’t love a sexy tattooed bad boy? Vaughn will have you falling in love in his first appearance with his swoon worthy ways. Their love story is one I will definitely not forget. This was my first novel by Anna Brooks but it certainly won’t be my last. I look forward to reading the first Pleasant Valley Novel, Fixing Fate, in the near future. I would highly recommend this book to absolutely everybody, regardless of the genre they read!

LOVE, ME (Pleasant Valley #2)
AUTHOR: ANNA BROOKS

FIVE STARS

Anna Brooks delivers once again! LOVE, ME is the second book in her thrilling “Pleasant Valley” series, and a definite five star. Her writing is phenomenal! LOVE, ME has it all: love, regret, betrayal, friendship, passion and loyalty. She combines them all to spin a heartwarming story that will make you cry, make you laugh uncontrollably, and make your heart smile. You will fall head over heels in love with her characters as they jump off the page and come to life.

Rayne Garner’s life is complicated. As a young girl she make a promise to Bryan, who she thought was the love of her life. She remained faithful to him, calling him every day and hoping to hear back from him. After two years, she finally gives up hope, but doesn’t move on. She builds walls that she hopes will help guard her heart against any further heartbreak.

Vaughn Morris returns to his hometown and opens a tattoo shop next door to Rayne’s parent’s restaurant. Rayne works for her parents, and loves the freedom they give her when they are away. It gave her all the enjoyment she thought she needed. Vaughn was suffering from a terrible childhood. He disguised his insecurities by being cocky and smug. Although neither of them were looking for romance, it seems you never get to choose the time or person to find it with. Rayne and Vaughn were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was off the charts and they complimented each other perfectly.

Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in the way of their happiness? I highly recommend this series and Anna Brooks!

Even though this is the 2nd in the series, threads of the 1st story's characters are trickling into this book. You are going to love this series.
Rayne's parents started their restaurant The Lunch Box over twenty years ago and it is still the town's favorite. Always the best ingredients go into their homemade soups and sandwiches. Her parents have decided to take a 31/2 week cruise and Rayne is stepping in and taking their place plus still doing her own. It's rough going but Polly is there and is a great help. Rayne is washing the pots and pans when Polly approaches the kitchen with the news Everyone is gone. Rayne tells her to take off the dishes are almost washed. She throws her apron on the counter and yells I'll see you tomorrow. Minutes later the front door chimes to announce a customer. As Rayne makes her way to the dining area to assist, she spies the most beautiful man. It's like her feet are cemented to the floor. His black t-shirt fits like a glove, he has longish brown hair the whole effect is a poster boy of sexiness. Even his voice is sexy deeply seductive, WOW!
He introduces himself as Vaughn and informs Rayne he has just opened a tattoo shop next door. Rayne is so captivated by his looks she forgets her name. After taking his order she rushes in the kitchen to fix a t0 go-bag sandwich, but Vaughn has other ideas. He challenges her to sit while he eats. Rayne knows she has given her promise to wait for Bryan's return. But, two years is a long time not to know where he is or when he'll be home. OMG! What is she going to do? This is the first time she has noticed anyone and of course he has to have bought the shop next doow.

Love, Me: A Pleasant Valley Novel by Anna Brooks – 4 stars

This is the first book I’ve read in the Pleasant Valley series and I was able to enjoy the book knowing none of the characters others have previously read about. It’s also the first time I’ve read Anna Brooks (honestly, I thought I had read a few of her books before, but I hadn’t) and I enjoyed her writing style and the way she tells a story.

Love, Me stars Vaughn Morris who is a tattooed, tight t-shirt and jeans wearing, no feelings explored type of guy. Vaughn is artistic, has a good business sense and is not the hardcore guy he portrays. It also stars Rayne Garner. The people in her life have enabled her to become who she is today and when Vaughn meets Rayne, they both begin to change.

“Not every love story has to have a huge beginning. Some of them can be love at first sight; it’s totally a thing”

I’m conflicted with this story. The adults in Rayne’s life almost set her up for failure from the very get go and I believe her life would have been so much more fulfilling if only they had been straight with her from the beginning. Vaughn had such a hard upbringing that it’s amazing for him to be who he is today. There were times when I was cheering them on and other times when I wanted to give them the phone # for a therapist or counselor.

This was an enjoyable story to read. It had romance, suspense, friendship, family, sex, and more. I was glad the conflicts resolved themselves in the way they did. I would recommend this book and this series to a friend.

Book Review: Love, Me
Author: Anna Brooks
FIVE STARS
This is a Pleasant Valley Novel, however this is totally a stand alone book. Anna Brooks, pulls you into her books. The strong characters and the chemistry between them all. I have read everything this Lady has written and I am a true fan.
This book is a romance, with a hint of erotic flare. But not raunchy. Still mature audiences are suggested as there are sexual encounters.
Rayne helps her family with their restraunt and is in denial over the loss of her boy friend. Even though it has been 2 years, can she put him to rest and move on with her own life? Can
she find her happiness again? At the urging of her best friend Kennedy and his fiance Brad, Rayne tries to let go of her past.
Vaughn is from the wrong side of the tracks, but he has grown up and made a name for himself. He is now a highly sought after tattoo artist and has been featured in magazines. But has moving back to Pleasant Valley been a mistake?
Both Rayne and Vaughn are fighting demons from their past, but will the past come back to haunt them? Will they lose what they have found with each other? Will Rayne leave him when she learns the truth about what happened 8 years ago?
Wonderful story, Anna Brooks pulls you in and makes you feel what the characters are feeling, the love, the fear, the anxiety, and the hope as well as the loss. Great read as are all of her books!!

Wow! This book was great! I loved it from beginning to end. The characters were very likable. Anna Brooks has been an author I've read a few times but this one is definitely my favorite by her.

Vaughn has just moved back into town recently and he has his sights on the pretty girl at The Lunch Box next door to his tattoo shop. Rayne thinks he is hot as soon as she sees him but, she won't allow herself to fall for his charms. As much as she tried to keep her distance from the sexy tattoo artist, she can't seem to escape him. Especially when she runs into him at an engagement party for her very best friend. Apparently Vaughn is Brad’s cousin or so that's what everyone thinks.

Rayne’s boyfriend is missing, he was an adrenaline junkie and went to check out Cape Disappointment 2 years ago. Rayne nor his family
Has heard from him since. No body was found and his car was recovered from the lot. Every night since then, Rayne has been leaving him voicemails. It almost helps her deal just to hear his voice. Finally, one night she calls and the phone has been disconnected. The first thing she does, is goes to see Bryan’s parents to try to figure out what happened.

Vaughn and Rayne become friendly even though they both want more. But, then something's are revealed.
Will Rayne be able to see past what Vaughn did and how will Kennedy react when he finds out about Brad?

Such a great read from start to finish!

Ms Brooks is a new author to for me, and one I am so glad I have found – I’ve actually already downloaded more of her books!

A fantastically written book with a catchy storyline and some amazing character development. Reign and Vaughn were so easy to fall in love with. Both dealing with love, loss and fear but in very different ways, they are drawn to one another and the heat and sexual tension between them is palpable. Vaughn, well roll me over I’m done, this man was an alpha through and through, sexy, dominant, possessive, everything you could want from your next book boyfriend (buts hands off he’s mine) and Reign, beautiful, strong, poised and loyal, what more could you want from your heroine, she’s definitely someone I’d like to call a friend.

From the first word to the last I was hooked, I couldn’t devour the book quick enough. Every emotion the characters felt I felt right along with them, my heart ached for them, I laughed with them and simply got lost in what I can only describe as a beautifully written love story. There are lots of little twists that will keep you hooked, and I can honestly say I didn’t expect one of the twists, but once it was out there I was back tracking and putting all the pieces together, clever one liners dotted through the book all made sense. The supporting characters in the book were intriguing and I’d love to hear more about them, especially Polly, she definitely has a story worth hearing.
Easy 5 star read.

The Good:
• It ended

The Bad:
• All of the characters
• The end
• Their problems
• The Lunch Box

The Book:
Ugh, honestly this book could've been interesting to me, I think I got caught up on the little details & what happened a lot in this book just felt like a checklist. As soon as a problem was solved, another came up & then was solved...yada yada yada. But it felt like the problems were never fully seen through. The characters just magically got over all these emotions they carried for years hours after they were brought up. The whole Bryan situation was unhealthy, one when Rayne at the end of the book she starts thinking about all the times she was together with him were terrible, he was never a good boyfriend. Then when (spoiler) his parents cut off Bryan's cell phone & tell Rayne to get over it & a few days later they find his body his parents are inconsolable so much so that Rayne has to plan the entire funeral? Nu-uh not buying that one. Then the fact that The Lunch Box is only open for 4 hours, closed on Saturdays, & apparently makes over $875 in just soups & sandwiches? From 11-3 on weekdays? You're kidding me right? Little details like that bother me. So much. Plus, the ending? Bleh, no thank you. Having Vaughn propose at their best friends' wedding (best friends who you rarely see mind you), during the ceremony? I don't think anyone would be cool with that, no matter how good of friends they are. Then Kennedy making sure everything was okay with her at the end? No, just no.

Love, Me by Anna Brooks is part of the Pleasant Valley Series and it's an amazing addition to the series! I loved going back to Pleasant Valley and seeing where Anna Brooks was going to take us! Another amazing 5 star read!

Rayne Garner has spent the past few years only coasting through life, never letting a man get too close. When she was younger, she made promises to a man who didn't deserve her. But she was too young to know any better. But she thinks she's been doing okay, just going through the motions, not letting anyone too close. That is until Vaughn Morris, who didn't have a great start to life. He's come back to his hometown, a place where when he was there last, he was a defenseless kid. Vaughn hides his pain by being arrogant and mysterious. Rayne and Vaughn weren't looking for anything with each other, but they spark an unlikely friendship. But is it just friendship? What happens when Rayne and Vaughn's past comes back? Can they survive any threats that are made? Are they willing to fight for each other?

This book was amazing! Anna Brooks has an excellent way of taking these characters and spinning an intense web and story that pulls you in and pulls at our heartstrings. I can't wait to see what happens next for this series! I would recommend this book to everyone! Go grab your copy today!
