David L., author and publisher, holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications and Human Relations and a Masters Degree in Social Work with a concentration in clinical administration.
His first release entitled “Over Your Dead Body” is set in present-day New York, written in character-specific dialogue. His novel stands alone in two ways: First, it provides a passionate backdrop of just how fragile an institution like marriage can be. Secondly, it clearly reveals that there is indeed – a thin line between love and hate.
His second release entitled “Chalk Outline Confessions” is a serial killer non-stop thriller which cleverly details just how far a woman will go in which she has been scorned by her deceased and double-crossing spouse.
His third release entitled “My Life Is A Movie” chronicles a high school senior getting ready to graduate, doing her best to avoid all of the customary and ritualistic pitfalls that often plague that age range. Every parent, care provider andconcerned adult should purchase this for that special young person in their life.
His fourth and most recent release, “Represent” captures the realism of the streets and family values and answers that age old question: when is it alright to turn your back on those that raised you? Two brothers, one living the life of the streets, and the other, a path of academics come to a crossroads when older sibling receives a life sentence for his role in the murder of one of his peers. What does younger brother do? Continue on with his life of positivity? Or seek revenge for his brother on those that set him up in the first place?

“Be careful what you pray for” is such a true statement and people throw it around without realizing the consequences surrounding a statement like that.
Preston and Janelle Price have a great life: they both have great jobs, two beautiful children, live in a beautiful four-bedroom house, have been married for ten years and are still madly in love with each other ~ what more could you ask for? One thing that you are taught is not to let outsiders interfere in your married life, particularly single, bitter, jealous girlfriends because once they do your marriage will NEVER be the same. Shontell is Janelle’s best friend but she is also feeding Janelle information that is totally wrong about Preston and that causes problems within the marriage. Is Janelle a strong enough woman to have faith in her husband and her marriage of ten years or will she let doubt slip in and tear apart something that she cherished for so long?
Over Your Dead Body is a drama filled thriller that keeps you shaking your head and talking to the characters. David L has written a book that could very easily be seen played out on the movie screen with all of the action and twists and turns in the book. The characters in this book are so busy looking out for themselves that they are not paying attention to the next person and that makes you scream “look behind you!” I love the intensity of the characters and Janelle is the woman who you are going to love to hate. Kudos to David L, I look forward to reading more of your work.
Wow is all I can say right now. To begin, I must honestly say that I did not think that I would be interested in this book because of the cover design, so I thought it would be a bit cheesy, but I was oh so wrong, and I regret sleeping on it for so long!!
I loved the set up of the story. Although the intro gave away the ending, I can say it was a bit predictable on some parts, but I was able to prepare my emotions for certain parts of the book. Also, as I continued with the book, I was hoping that the outcome would be different, but with the mass killing spree that Preston Price went on, I felt trapped for him. It's always deep when you are able to pick up feelings from the character!!! But overall, I can say that this book has many lessons in it and one being to always trust your partner. Never be quick to take the word of anyone if you did not see it with your own eyes or you don't suspect your partner to do such a thing that was said they had done.
I recommend this book to those in relationships, marriages, and especially those that are single to know what to look for when it comes to friendships, jealousy, and overall human interaction that could possibly include consequences.
Over Your Dead Body is a story of a successful family man at his breaking point willing to do anything to keep his children his. The cover to cover dialogue between characters will have you feeling like you're in the midst of Preston's steep decline. This book will open your eyes to the reality that things can really change overnight. Once a prestigious music executive, with a trophy wife, Preston's life turns upside down after his wife suspects him of adultery. Some of the events that follow may be a bit hard to believe, but David L. develops and packages his story well. This is a good read for any fiction lover.
1. What did you like best about this book? I like that this book shows an African American male in the role as a family man.
2. What did you dislike about this book? Although the dialogue gives a sense of realism, at times it can be overwhelming.
3. How can the author improve this book? I would cut down the dialogue.
This was a good story. It had a few inconsistent times in the story where I wondered if the author knew about them. I liked it though and would recommend this book.
This is a definite must read, kept me locked in. All that happened to Preston in only a year is what made this book absolutely worth reading. Could a loving spouse turn on you & cause you to lose everything so instantly, wow. Makes you wonder, do you really know the one you love. Definitely will read more of David L's work!!
I truly enjoyed reading this novel. Peterson's world was turned upside down in a matter of days. Never knew who you can trust. Just when you think a person it's fed iLl they go over the deep end. Preston became reckLess!
