Jimi Hendrix, in spite of his stage persona, was a very shy person. Also, for many (perhaps even most!) of his media interviews--at least in the 1967-1970 range--he was high. Now, imagine you took a bunch of quotes from this reticent but also kind of stoned interviewee, pulled from any interview he gave over those years, organized them vaguely by theme, and stuck them all in a book--with no context or further organization whatsoever?
If you're thinking, "Wow, that probably wouldn't be very revealing at all, and it also probably wouldn't make much sense," you are correct.
Out of 100 pages, there are maybe 3 quotes of interest. Some might have been interesting if there had been any context--even just more of the interview they were pulled from! There is no timeline or biographical information, so if you don't know anything about Hendrix, this is a TERRIBLE place to start.
Ultimately, this book left me with one question: who thought this was a good idea?
