The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker

Rate this book
When teacher Sasha Honeycutt kisses a handsome cowboy in a bar on a dare, she never expects to see him again. To her surprise, though, he walks through the door of her classroom for a parent-teacher conference. Sheriff Remy Fontenot might be sexy as sin, but Sasha has no interest in falling for another police officer. Rose Creek, Texas is her fresh start after being “that poor widow.” Only, Remy’s precocious daughter has big plans for the two of them…

After their stolen kiss, Remy knows there's a sexy woman hiding under that school marm charm. When fate—aka his seven-year-old—keeps putting her in his path, he decides to take it as a sign. His daughter needs a mom, and the intriguing, beautiful Sasha is perfect for the role. Not to mention their chemistry is off the charts. Unfortunately, he's set his sights on the one woman in town who has no interest in falling for another man with a badge.

Sweet feel good story. 3.5 stars
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had to think about this one for a couple days. There are so many elements in the story that I really really enjoy, Remy being one of them. He is a delicious specimen of a man that’s not to be missed.
Single dad who has a serious crush on his daughter‘s teacher who happened to share a amazing kiss with him in an anonymous way.
The story has a fun plot and while I was all in on Remy, Sasha was a good character match for him but she tended to annoy me every so often on throughout the story. Not normally a rule breaker, she never wanted to admit they actually were a thing. Remy was overly patient and so sweet to her.
This romance is cute; just an overall sweet story. A clean romance for your entertainment with hits of hotness and a perfect HEA.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley
Well, firstly I was going to give it 3,5 stars, but then Remy broke everything good for me. He was pursuing so hard that girl, I liked it a lot! But why did he chose this last move!???
This is cute, clean story, no sex scenes, no cheating, no OP scenes.
I liked the sassy bunter between MCs. I liked this heroine, she didn't drop her panties off for the H.
This heroine was OK for me. I wish she'd be more strong.
Why is it little eyes can see what exactly is needed for their parent...They see what is missing, what would be good for the parent and figure out a way to make it all happen...
Carrie Nichols takes this idea and brings it to life in The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker.
She gives us Sasha Honeycutt; a woman who is tired of being known as the widow of a police officer.
All the looks and comments have made her relocate to Texas. Before she settles in with her new students, the parents and is knee deep in the semester, she is talked into going away for a weekend to New Orleans with a bunch friends. There she is teased to get out of her shell and have a little fun.
A bet is made at the bar and before she has time to change her mind, she lays a kiss on a studly cowboy the both of them won't soon forget. It was yummy and worth it. Maybe New Orleans keeps the same secrets Vegas does...like what happens there will stay there...
Remy Fontenot knows an excellent kiss when he's experienced one... the one this woman laid on him was something else. Only she disappeared before he could get a second. Remy has to put it aside and refocus on his being the Sheriff of his town and taking care of his seven year old daughter Evie.
Time may go by but both Sasha and Remy think back to that bar kiss and when it turns out Sasha is Evie's teacher, both are taken aback. It was a standard parent/teacher conference not meant to be anything special...but when Sasha sees Remy and it turns out he is Evie's parent and a sheriff too... that is it. No more dreaming about him. He is off limits...That is the correct thing to do...
Only Little Evie has other ideas....
This was a very easy sweet, clean tale. Evie was adorable, Remy, a sexy Sheriff/Cowboy and Sasha, a woman who finally saw what was real and important.
The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker was a solid 3.5 star read for me. I found it cute and endearing with a young girl, 7, trying to match up her idolized hot new teacher with her divorcee dad. Some hemming and hawing on both sides being the only obstacle in the couples way.
Cute cast, cute story and an enjoyable read.
Sasha and Remy share a scorching kiss in New Orleans. Then she leaves and we later find out Remy looked all over for her. Unbeknownst to Remy, Sasha is his daughter's new second grade teacher. He finds this out when he goes to a parent/teacher meeting. His daughter was/is trying to match her papa with Sasha.
That same night, Sasha is on a date with his brother, Ethan, when Remy and Evie run into them at a restaurant and Ethan has to leave. She ends up having dinner with the two and Remy couldn't be happier.
I thought this book was cute, nut I do feel it was missing a little something. Not sure what that something was though. Overall, I would recommend this book.
This is my first book by this author.
Okay, subtle she is not...not at all. But she is absolutely charming and sweet and made me smile and giggle a lot. I'm talking about Evie, the little matchmaking daughter of Rose Creek's sheriff Remy Fontenot. When Remy got kissed by a fascinating stranger in a bar, he didn't expect to find her in his daughter's classroom back in Rose Creek after having searched unsuccessfully for her in New Orleans!
To date the father of a student doesn't sound like a good idea, especially as this is also another lawman, Being a policeman's widow, Sasha never wants to feel that fear and that pain again that go along with loving (and losing) a lawman. But sometimes the brain has different ideas than the heart and Remy proves to be rather irresistible, especially when he knows what he wants and goes after it.
Smalltown life and the charm of the Cajun, make this novel special. I loved Remy and Evie, and I loved Sasha but I also fell in love with Remy's endearments and the images that the story brought up of the bayou and of life in the South in general. I found myself googling New Orleans and Louisianna and making plans to visit them one day because it just sounded amazing and special and different. In a good way, of course.
A wonderful feel-good novel for cold winter days and stormy days in autumn...or anytime and anywhere. I really enjoyed reading it.
If you are looking for a sweet, touching romance , with a 7 year old matchmaker , this one is the one for you.
School teacher Sasha Honeycutt has been a policeman’s widow for 5 years, and the town she lived in New York didn’t let her forget it. In order to start with a clean slate in life, she takes a teaching position in Texas. Shortly after, during a weekend trip to New Orleans with some friends , she kisses a guy in a bar on a bet. Little did she know Remy, single Dad and sheriff, would be the father of one of her new students . This creates a problem. One, she shouldn’t date a parent of one of her students, and two , she vowed never to get involved with another cop.
We are reminded that life is full of surprises and that matters of the heart cannot be controlled. As well as the fact that in life, there are no guarantees and sometimes what we thought we didn’t want, is exactly what we need. Another entertaining book by this talented author.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is a sweet, feel good romance that made me smile. I loved Sasha, the police widow who struggles to get her life back after becoming a police widow. years before. Her small town kept her trapped and "untouchable" as a widow, so she moved across the country to start over in a different small town. She has sworn off getting involved with police officers, but one of her students engineers a meeting with Remy, the local sheriff and all around good guy loved by the community.
Sparks flew between Remy and Sasha and I loved the struggle that each felt both individually and together. If you are looking for an engaging and fun tale, you have found it in this book. It's refreshing to read such a delightful story that is absent any swearing or sex (just one suggestion of it). This grandma loved this novel, but you could also let your teen read it without worrying about the content.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but I'm looking forward to reading more by her.
Carrie Nichols' The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker has turned me into a forever fan. Every time Remy Fontenot says "cher" I swoon, then goosebumps appear. Sasha Honeycutt is a vulnerable but determined widow who fights the good fight but surrenders to Remy's allure just as this reader did. And don't get me started on Evie! She's a firecracker and an old soul rolled into one. Plotting to get her two favorite people together takes a mastermind and master manipulator and she does it with no conscience. Carrie knows her characters well and brings them alive for us with witty dialogue and tension-filled moments. Be sure to put this book on your pre-order list. You won't be disappointed! The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker is a touching, sweet and feel-good romance about a widowed school teacher and her precocious 7-year-old student playing at being matchmaker for her dad.
Sasha is a policeman’s widow has vowed never to get involved with a man in law enforcement again, but little does she know when she kisses a random man on a bet, that the sexy hunk is a cop. Remy is single Dad and sheriff of his local town, and the woman who planted a good one on him one night in a bar, turns out to be his daughter’s new teacher. Can a woman recovering from life changing devastation and a man used to being on his own, let down their guard and realise that love has its own agenda and life is full of twists and turns and unpredictability.
This is my first book by Carrie Nichols, and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and characters and would recommend it to lovers of second chance romance.
The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker is witty and funny with a tasteful steam level! From the very first line I was drawn into the story... "I've got money riding on this, so you better make it good,". This book was such a sweet romantic read. I read it in one sitting. Sasha and Remy first meant in a bar where Sasha kissed him because of a bet she had made with her friends. What a kiss it was. Weeks later and both of them were still feeling the effects of that kiss. Next time they meet is during a teacher parent conference. Sasha being the teacher and Remy being the parent. The chemistry was still there. I have to say that Remy is my new book boyfriend. From the way he talked to how sweet and sexy he was. I think he could melt the panties off any women. Sasha was just as sweet and kind. Both of them are still healing from past hurt and both of them have there feelings put behind a big brick wall. When you add in the match making of an adorable daughter and a couple of towns people and you have one amazing read. I am really hoping that Ethan's book is next. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
“I’ve got money riding on this, so you better make it good”
With an opening line like that, Nichols draws you straight in. When Sasha is dared to kiss a stranger, and that stranger turns out to be a students father, she can’t believe it, what are the odds? And he’s a sheriff which is a red flag due to the death of her husband, who was a police officer.
The story moves at a good pace, and I adore Evie, Remys daughter. A very sweet, funny and with just enough passion
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I am cross posting this review to my author blog as it’s a romance title.
Do you like sweet romance? Sexy lawmen? A Cajun accent? I have a book you’ll love.
The Sheriff’s Little Matchmaker by Carrie Nichols is a lovely sweet romance. Sasha is tired of being that poor widow after her husband was killed in the line of duty, so she moves to Rose Creek, Texas. Remy is the town’s sheriff, and a single father. Evie is his daughter and Sasha’s student–who knows what she wants. Evie orchestrates a meeting between Sasha and Remy, without knowing that Remy was the stranger Sasha had been dared into kissing on a girl’s trip to New Orleans. When Remy sees the mysterious woman who disappeared after a blazing kiss in his daughter’s classroom, he’s thrown. Sasha is torn between shock and embarassment–things like torrid kisses were supposed to stay on vacation where they belong. Sasha and Remy can’t really stay away from each other. Sasha determinedly holds the line of “I’m your daughter’s teacher, I can’t date a parent,” although it’s a losing battle. But step by step, the sexy sheriff breaks down her walls. Which leaves the question of whether Sasha can bear to give her heart to another lawman, and if Remy wants more than just a mother for his daughter.
The sexual chemistry between Sasha and Remy is electric. There is a steady build, and in any other book they would’ve fallen into bed within the first quarter of the book given that chemistry. I kept rooting for sex, and (spoiler) there is one sex scene, but it’s all off page, which is a bit of a disappointment. The way the sex scene is handled is a bit disappointing because it’s quite rushed, and not just because they’re lusting for each other and the sex happens off stage. There could’ve been a longer scene there to rebuild the tension that had deflated in the time since their last encounter.
We get to see the events through both Sasha and Remy’s points of view. Unfortunately there were time when I got a bit confused who’s point of view we were in.
The judicious use of Evie, Remy’s daughter/Sasha’s student is well done. Too often kids speak in inauthentic ways, but I think Evie is just about right (I have a daughter who is older than Evie and one who’s a bit younger). She’s obsessed with Sasha’s cat, loves Eloise, and is very interested in Sasha becoming her new mom. (Remy and her mom divorced when she was young.)
My only real complaint is that Sasha keeps saying she won’t let a dominant personality dictate her actions, but that isn’t quite what happens. Remy is very much an alpha/in charge kind of character and for the most part Sasha gives in. I would have liked a little more spine.
A sweet, quick read!
I liked the heroine, Sasha, a lot. Especially when she spent time with Remy's daughter Evie. She was so patient and sweet with Evie, even with the little girl's matchmaking attempts.
Sasha and Remy are fun together and bring a lot of humor to their time together. They each have their own issues to work through, but I appreciated that the book didn't feel too heavy.
The small town setting has the requisite gossipy locals, charming folk, and fun local establishments. I am looking forward to seeing more of the citizens of Rose Creek in future books.
I am not a regular reader of romance books but whenever I get my hands on one, I enjoy it to the fullest by giving in completely to what the book promises. It's like relishing a sweet chocolate cake amidst your regular diet on a cheat day. Full of guilty pleasures!
When I picked up the book, I admit-going by it's cover- I was expecting a regular romance story. The plot here has been tried and tested over the times. How many times have we read about young kids playing cupid to get two people together? The point is I had a fair idea about what I was getting into and the book did not disappoint me at all. That first kiss on a bar in New Orleans was too steamy and even I was squirming at the sight of Remy Fontenot.
The second encounter between Remy and Sasha when they recognise each other was set up nicely. It set the stage perfectly for what was to come next. Sasha and Remy had an unarguably great chemistry.I am generally skeptical when it comes to kids playing match-makers for it can backfire so quickly. A simple unwanted dialogue, here or there, can take away the innocence of the kid and you feel they are forced into the part. But Evie was a well-balanced sweet and innocent kid. Except once ot twice I never questioned her innocence. Even then, I could relate to kids who carry deeper things in their heart and speak their mind surprising grown-ups. On that note, I would say Evie was completely believable.
Being an outsider, this book gave me insights about the Cajun culture. Now I know, it might not be the authentic representation or whatsoever. But it was definitely from this book that I got to know about this group of people. Isn't that what we love about books? You get to know so much more about the world than what you see around. Speaking of which, I am not much of a cat person yet I enjoyed Henry who made his presence felt even without a single dialogue!! I don't know why but I kept imagining him as Garfield. I think it has something to do with the description of a "big furry orange indoor cat".
Both our main characters had interesting back stories. It brought layers to their characters. Over the course of the story, we got to see more about Remy and what led him to think or say the things he did or said eventually. Somehow, Sasha's past was a bit mysterious even till the end of the book. Her apprehensions were revealed now and then. However given the fact that the book spent so much time for calling out her inner thoughts out loud, it lacked some context regarding the depth of her fears. That was my one problem with the book. Not that I didn't enjoy their self-reproaching moments, but you do not need to hear each and every word of what the characters are thinking. Even without those inner voices, you could feel the attraction and the tension betweeen them. The physical reactions when they were close to each other was enough to communicate the feelings. Not that I didn't want those voices at all, but it could have been toned down a little bit.
Now let's talk about the main content - Romance - in the book. The romance evolved along with the sotry which is one of the factors I enjoyed the most. As two strangers who parted after the steamy kiss, it was expected that they would be lethally attracted to each other. Then the story progressed and they got to know each other, their affections evolved as well which is what happens with real life too. The meadow with the wild flowers was my favorite part if I am allowed to pick one.
The fact that the story went to addressing their inner turmoils and actions based on what they thought as opposed to what they felt made it a matured story. Often people tend to act based on their deeper fears and turmoils rather than merely getting carried away by their emotions. It is only later you realise the need to salvage the situation which was clearly depicted here.
The third act ended with a rather trivial and predictable conflict. Sasha's fear for marrying a man with badge was adressed once in the story. Or may be I didn't quite buy it because going by the title, I was expecting the stakes to be a bit more higher. That being said it doesn't take away the good moments in the third act. Overall, if you have a relaxing weekend and wish to drown yourself in a romantic novel, this can be your pick. Only you have to be genuinely into the romnatic genre at least during the course of the book!!
What a pleasant surprise this charming story was. Ms Nichols is a new to me author so I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading. A story about a small town sheriff, his motherless young daughter, and the new school teacher may sound like a cliché, this one is anything but that. The characters are realistically endearing, full of depth and personality...they jumped to life in my mind’s eye. The dialog was smart and genuine, the humor subtle and at times smile inducing.
From the onset, Sasha intrigued me, her nervousness was palpable in the scene that was set for her first encounter with Remy...he demonstrated his richness for life in seeing the humor of their encounter...his history drilled down to an elemental level of character...leaving a lasting impression of his innate goodness.
My recommendation for anyone who isn’t familiar with this author would be to take the chance of reading this story, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.
“The Sheriff’s Little Matchmaker” by Carrie Nichols is a quick-paced and sexy story with characters you’d like to have living next door.
Sasha Honeycutt is starting a new phase of her life by moving to Rose Creek, Texas. She’s an elementary school teacher and teaches second grade.
Remy Fontenot is the town sheriff and his daughter, Evie, is in Sasha’s class.
Sasha and Remy are immediately attracted to each other, have been ever since they met in a New Orleans piano bar. But Sasha doesn’t want a relationship with someone in law enforcement, while Remy realizes his daughter needs a mom and Sasha is the perfect candidate.
“The Sheriff’s Little Matchmaker” has a fun opening scene and an adorable seven-year-old. Ms. Nichols has a knack for creating charming and realistic characters.
What to say about this book...
I went in with some cute expectations. There is a kid involved and a surprise reappearance-- I was so excited. Then we learn she doesn't want to be in a relationship with a police officer again. *gasp*! Things were looking to be cute and I thought the sheriff would try to win her over and show how things could be different.... I was wrong.
No, the reason she tells him they can't be together is because she is his daughter's teacher. I could run with it... until no one else cared that they might date and it was the most said thing to him. AND her reason for not wanting to date a police officer is.... a bit lackluster for how much it is hyped.
Really the I didn't see how the romance developed-- it was just him chasing her. So, I wasn't interested. But, there were some cute and few chuckle worthy moments.
Sasha Honeycutt needs a new beginning, but is finding old habits are hard to break. What begins with a dare becomes a jumping off point for something more. At least, that's how Remy Fontenot sees it. He just has to convince the wary beauty to make him a permanent fixture in her life. He has the perfect co-conspirator. His precociously, irresistible 7-year old daughter. She knows what she wants and is determined to make it happen. Can fate and an adorable imp wear down Sasha's hard built walls and take shelter in her heart? The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker is where sweet and heat merge to create a sweetheart of a treat.
A Sweet Love Story
I love the way this story began. A girl stepping out of her comfort zone to do something fun she'd never do in a million years with a stranger. The handsome stranger who later turns up in her life again. A second chance at love, a gorgeous single dad. I really enjoyed reading it.
A delightful story about 2 individuals not really looking for love who meet through a precious and precocious child. The h was a widow who wanted love, family and a HEA with someone who was not in law enforcement. The H was a divorcee who wanted the same without a love commitment. Despite everything, they matured, fell in love and had an amazing HEA.
Watch out for the Cajun charm! Sasha has relocated to a remote Texas town near New Orleans. A night out with the girls presents her with the charming Remy. Sasha know she doesn't want to date another lawman after losing her first husband. Sheriff Remy has a daughter who adores her new teacher, Sasha. A cute story of how children often play a part in adult relationships.
