Vincent Owen. He was gorgeous. He was cocky. He was a complete and total douche bag, and I was head over heels for him.

He left to become a champion, a warrior amongst men. And though he said he would call, I never heard from him again.

I never admitted to him how I felt. I never told him he made everything inside of me that hurt go away and everything that was wrong with me feel right - even if it were just for a little while. And that when he left, he took a little piece of me with him, a piece of my heart I could never get back.

That was then, and this is now and none of that matters anymore.

It all changed the day my daughter Violet was born. I moved on, life became about her and keeping my family ranch running. But now he's back to pay his respects to the man his best friend considered a father. A man our whole town loved, and he's about to find out that's not the only thing waiting for him in Evansdale.

Together again it's time to face the truth. For both of us.

The biggest question now is, is he ready for something like this?

Alyne Hart is a contemporary romance author living in the mountains of Eastern Washington. She's known for writing stories that pack an emotional punch and get you right in the feels.

She loves writing very real and deeply flawed characters and writing about honest, gritty, and raw romance. She's a romance junkie and happy endings addict, and if you’re a lover of deeply emotional reads with lots of delicious angst, her books are for you. Alyne's stories involve characters with bigger problems than just finding love. She writes stories about making peace with the past, rekindling old flames, and healing old wounds. She loves small towns, men in uniform, and alpha males with a heart of gold.

She began her story-telling journey first with her dolls, then it progressed to paper. She has a deep love for anything romantic, and she's a believer that in love anything is possible.

When Alyne isn’t writing, you can find her reading, hanging out with her cat, and spending time with her two children. She enjoys trips to the lake just as much as trips to the wine cellar, live music, chick flick movie marathons, and hanging out with her eclectic group of friends.

Alyne Hart knows how to bring the heat and sweet together. Both mesh so well I'm wondering if this is truly fiction. Something Like This is sweet, funny, hot, and beautiful. Vin and Von's love transcends time. Eight years after leaving her and he's back. What neither realized is the feelings never left with him. Von is someone I hope to grow up and be one day. She's tough, no nonsense, and has an incredibly big heart. She loves with her whole heart and is loyal like no other. Vin may come across as a dbag, but he's not. He has the same tough and loyal traits as Von and that makes them so perfect for each other. Throw in their amazing friends and they have a great big family with hearts of gold!

Sometimes I crave achingly sweet reads, and this is one that I will go back to over and over again. Hot MMA fighter, strong single mother, second chances, and real emotions is what you'll get from Something Like This. I'm now begging for more from this insanely talented author! This is something so much more than contemporary romance, I'll just call it romance. It has all the flavors of real emotion, sexy scenes, laugh out loud moments, and it shows that love can span over time.

Vin and Von. It was all fun, right? He said he would call when he got his big break. He went on to be the champion, she went on to be a mom. She didn't hear from him. Her daughter Violet became her life. She kept the ranch going, she worked at the diner, and she was the best mom she could be. Alone. But now he's back for the funeral of the man who once trained him, the man who was like a father to his best friend. He wants to see the girl he left behind. Wait until he finds out he has two girls he left behind.

I wasn't sure that I would like this story. I did. I don't like that Vin left everyone he claimed to care for behind. He only talked to his best friend on the phone. He missed his wedding. He missed the births of his children. He never bothered to make time to return Von's calls. His selfishness caused him to miss so many years in his own daughter's life. Inexcusable. But I guess that's punishment enough, he can never get back that lost time. I did love how once he knew about Violet he was all in. Their relationship was precious. He was good with Von too. He didn't make excuses, he knew he made mistakes. Then he did better. He did right by his girls, he was great on the ranch, and he embraced family. Once he was back in town, he found his place. This made for the perfect second chance story.

Von and Vince have something pretty special masquerading as casual. He's leaving soon to take on the big, bad world of MMA and she can't leave her father and their farm. So he goes and takes her heart with him. 8 years later, when his friend Dean (from The Space Between Us) calls and says their mentor, Tony, has passed, Vince knows it's time to go home. Home to send off Tony, and more significantly, home to the woman who's always held his heart, even if he hadn't ever told her. But when he gets back, Von's not so thrilled to see him. She has a secret that she never let him in on because he never returned her many calls and texts, so she finally gave up on him ever being in her life. What's a man to do when faced with everything he never knew or realized he needs?

Well, he's a fighter, a premier one, no less, so he fights to get his second chance with Von. Will she let him back in or will her need for independence and relying on no one keep her from the love she deserves?

I've loved the Men of Evandsale County series so far, but I think this one just may be the best so far. This is a beautiful, passionate second chance story. Vince and Von are a wonderful couple, whose love is obvious from the first page, even if they never acknowledged it to each other or themselves until much later in their story. And it was nice having cameos of Dean and Emma and Finn and Hailee. The little sneak peek of Emma's brother's story at the end just whet my appetite for more of this amazing world Alyne Hart has created. Can't wait!

Alyne has really captured my heart with this series. I've only gotten to read the first book before this, BUT I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! Everything about Von (Siobhan) and Vin is just magical. I love at the beginning how we saw them being so genuine with each other. Their love was just so raw, even if they wouldn't admit it.

Seeing them in the present day with the addition of Violet, it's EVEN BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was THE BEST SURPRISE EVER! This little girl could make any man melt, she's THAT cute! Seeing Vin come back into Von's life and his interactions with Violet were just so heartfelt. Von has such a hard life, I was really frustrated with her throughout this book in how she dealt with it. Instead of asking for help, she let herself be bogged down with everything. I love how Vin was able to help her out of this continuous circle she'd been living.

One of my favorite parts was how Vin helped Von's dad get back to who he used to be. It seemed like he helped everyone in this story just as much as he did Von. It was super ironic in the beginning, because he made fun of Dean with the life he was living. Vin didn't know what was coming at him! Seeing that big man fall was AMAZING! Really the whole book was just amazing.

Alyne did such a good job of pulling our emotions in and really making us feel things deep down. I found myself more than once smiling, or mad, or sad, all of it! It was such a good emotional roller coaster with so many twists and turns. Thank you for this Alyne!

*WARNING* do not start reading this if you have any kind of plans because you’re not going to be able to put this book down! Alyne Hart’s wonderful writing had me glued to every page completely addicted to all things Vin and Von. Second chances, surprising secrets, and some of the best romance ever Something Like This is definitely now a favorite I’ll be going back to reread countless times!
Vin is seriously one of the best heroes ever. A man who not only is deliciously sexy and super swoony, but also knows his flaws, owns them, and tries to make up for past mistakes. Who couldn’t fall in love with that?! Especially when he’s also a man who rides a motorcycle in a kilt. Von was an extremely strong, but also very stubborn woman not that anyone could blame her for that stubbornness. She’s been pretty much on her own trying to hold her family & ranch together since Vin left years before.
These two are one of those couples that you just feel are meant to be. Time, distance, and life did nothing to diminish that spark between them. With heartfelt emotion and a good dose of swoony sweetness their story worked its way right in to my heart.

Vin and Von were just messing around. Young and trying to find their way in life, Von knew that Vin wouldn't be sticking around. So she didn't let herself admit how much she loved him. Vin was scared of the way she made him feel. So when the opportunity came, he left promising that they would keep in touch. Von tried more than a couple of time but only got silence in return. Eight years later, Vin gets a call from his best friend to find out his mentor has passed away. He drops everything to go home, hoping that he will see Von. When he sees her, he finally knows for sure that she is what has been missing from his life. Now, will he be able to convince her that he is home to stay?

Oh my Vin is one hot MMA fighter who gives it all up, happily, to be with the woman he loves and the friends he left behind. The chemistry between Vin and Von is so vivid and tangible, you will have to fan yourself. Von has a ton of good reasons why she shouldn't let Vin back into her life. Luckily, he wins her over by putting in the time to win her trust. Alyne Hart is so very talented, her words painting a picture so vivid you feel you are there. If you enjoy sexy romances with a ton of heart, do yourself a favor and check out Something Like This and the Men of Evansdale County series!

Vin and Von with Violet = forever and a day. This book an amazing 2nd chance with characters who are going to stitch themselves to your heart.

8 years pass since they were young and not allowed to say love to each other yet as a reader you want to yell it to them. Vin wanted to pursue his MMA career and left Von behind.

Von was in denial of her love for him yet everyday since he left she does have a reminder of him. She buries herself into her job and the ranch. But Vin won't let her slowly kill herself. News sends Vin home and as they learn more about each other beyond sex you see the walls crumble.

The writing is amazing. The characters become more than words, their story isn't impossible and vivid description of everything down to the sunflower curtains.

Fans of real deal romance and swoon over 2nd chance with secondary characters who feel like they are your friends too will love this story.

An absolutely fantastic well written and emotionally deep second chance romance! The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with a few ups and downs and a mix of emotions on every page. The chemistry between Vincent and Sioban is intense and their sex scenes are well-written and HOT! This book is another amazing addition to the ‘The Men Of Evansdale County’ series and has met all of my expectations and then some! From start to finish I was captivated with the overall quality of the book, the wonderful story line, and the very interesting characters – both main and side characters. A really passionate and exciting read! I look forward to the next book in the series. Definitely recommended.

This review is in regards to the audiobook. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. If you listen to audiobooks, you know that sometimes you have an idea of how the character should sound and then there's the narrator's idea. But this narrator did such a great job making me believe in these characters that I absolutely loved her.

Now let's get to the story. First, be careful listening, or reading this, if you are in a place where you can't cry because the emotion is real and raw in this book. I mean the exchanges between Vince and Von are so awesome. Second, I felt like these characters were so real I wanted to smack them, hug them, and buy them a beer, in that order.

I have loved this series and look forward to reading more.

Funnily I wasn’t really looking forward to Vin and Von’s story, they didn’t really make that much of an impression on me in the other books, but I wanted to read all the books in the series as I had really enjoyed the first two books, and I got to admit, I really loved their story, I read straight through and had a really late night, (dreading the school run now in a couple of hours lol) anyway this is definitely a must read read, it’s lovely 😁

Something Like This is one those books that flows so naturally you'll want it to continue. Vin’s embraced the opportunities in his life—except the one allowing him to stay with Von. He’s had the chance to grow and understand what his life is missing, stopping the decisions to fight for the relationships that are the most important to him from seeing forced. Von’s learned to rely on herself, beaming fiercely independent. It takes a lot of love to break down her walls, learn to trust and find a way to admit “This” was love all along.

Amazing

I absolutely love Vin and Von’s story. They have been my favorite Evansdale County couple. Each byin this series can be read as a stand-alone. I love the chemistry between the two characters and all the banter.

Favorite quote: Vin ~ “It was like the pull of two magnets being drawn together. It was powerful. She did something to me. She wrapped around my heart like roots to a tree and stayed there.”

Everything I Wanted

And so. Much. More! I knew that Vin and Von’s story was going to wreck me, and wreck me it did. ❤️ I couldn’t get enough of Vin and his doting nature and Von’s stubbornness. Alyne does a beautiful job of showing both sides of the story and making it believable. Can’t wait for the next book in the Men of Evansdale County series!

We've met Vin and Von in the previous Evansdale books and I was looking forward to their story. I LOVED this and read late into the night unable to put it down.

Vin and Von had chemistry and attraction but their relationship wasn't serious......or so they tried to tell themselves. Then Vin left to conquer to Boxing world and unbeknown to him he left a part of him with Von. Vin conquered the Boxing/MMA world but still felt something was missing. He knew Von was still in his soul. Vons life went on without Vin and she worked hard as she always had just with the added joy of beautiful Violet. Vons heart was broken and she never moved on from Vin.

This story is about this passionate couple finding each other 8 years later and finding a new life together. Alyne Hart brings you right into their world, you feel what they're feeling and you're brought right into their surroundings. We see the good and the struggles in life. This was a beautiful story right through to the two epilogues.

This is an epic love story about finding your way in life and figuring out who you are--and finally finding out who you’re meant to be with. Even though they may have known all along, there are no guarantees in life; both characters have been through so much that they know this notion all too well.
The angst, the heat, the romance between Vin and Von will leave you wanting more. It’s a must-read and a book that’s hard to put down from the moment your eyes see the first line. Alyne always hooks you in and takes you on a journey unlike any other.
This book has all the feels. Do yourself a favor and snag this story, and find out why Something Like This is really “something” amazing. Treat yourself, happy reading!

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Von & Vin for the Win!

Something Like This
The Men of Evansdale County, Book 3
By: Alyne Hart
Narrated by: Isabella Starr

Alyne Hart delivers another great novel in her “The Men of Evansdale County” series. I enjoy her writing style and the stories and characters she creates, they are realistic and easy to relate to. This book is Vincent ‘Vin’ Owen and Siobhan ‘Von’ McCreary story, it is a great second chance romance that grabbed both my heart and attention from the start and held them straight to the end. Vin and Von were young lovers, Vin left town to make it big, while they did not tell each other how they really felt he did promise to keep in touch. He never did and eight years later he returns to town to attend Tony Moretti’s funeral, the man who made it all happen for him. Von is not thrilled to see Vin and did not accept him with open arms. He forgot her just left and never looked back, but did her really forget? I loved how everything plays out in this book, also love how much heart it contains. There is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt moments, sweet ones and some hot romance. Alyne Hart, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Isabella Starr is a talented narrator and voice artist. She does a great job portraying the characters and bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. She also captures their emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

Title: Something Like This
Author: Alyne Hart
Format: Audio
Narrator: Isabella Starr
Genre: Romance - Second Chance, Secret Baby, Sports (Boxing)
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 3 of the Men of Evansdale County series
POV: Vincent and Siobhan
Steam Level: Steamy
4/5

I really like the Men of Evansdale County series and Something Like This is no exception. Something Like This takes place several years after both The Space Between Us and How We Fall, both of which I've read but neither of which are essential to understanding and enjoying Something Like This. In The Space Between Us (Emma and Dean's story) you see some of how Siobhan and Vincent meet, but again, not essential to enjoying Something Like This. It was also nice seeing more of Emma and Dean's HEA. And Vincent's reaction to settled-down husband and dad Dean.

Overall I enjoyed Siobhan and Vincent's story but I got a little annoyed with some of Siobhan's actions. However, Alyne Hart is a master at explaining (but not over-explaining) the motivations behind Siobhan's thoughts and actions. The only real detraction from the story was the narrator. She was okay, but not great. I also missed the dual narrators of the previous books.

I received this book for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Each and every book of Alyne Hart's has had me captivated and falling in love. This second chance romance held me captive for a couple of reasons. First, I love the thrill of the chase. Though a second chance at love, Vin had to really work at winning Von back. The passion rose high, but loving with your head and not your heart keeps things slightly simmered. I loved Vin as he comes back to a life that is not only surprising but one that he fully embraces. And I love that Von is willing to take the chance. It's got some heart wrenching parts, but this story is full of love and redemption. Give me a book by this author anytime, and I know I am in for a good listen.

Isabella Starr does a wonderful job with the portrayal of this story. It's my first listen by her, and I enjoyed her voices and her pace. She brings it to life with her ability to change from male to female and old to young seamlessly. She enhances the story and I loved it.

There is so much packed into this story. I loved everything about it. A second chance romance, a surprise twist and a love lost returning is just a few of the things hidden within the words of this story. Vin has to work hard to be accepted by Von, and that chase is half the fun of the book. I really enjoy the chase and the hope for a happy ending. But getting to that ending is fulled with drama, emotion and heart break. This is one story I would read again and again.

Isabella Star really brought Von to life. Full of struggles and doubts, Von was an intriguing character and Isabella nailed her character. Isabella had a great male voice and kept the characters separate and distinct. Isabella enhanced the experience of this story through her narration. I truly got lost in the narration and felt as if I was watching a movie.

Something Like This: The Men of Evansdale County Volume Three was another great read by Alyne Hart. Von's heart broke last year when Vince left to become a champion. When he left, she never told him how badly that affected her. But the day her daughter, Violet, was born everything changed for her. She will do anything to keep her family's ranch running. Vince and Von can't fight their attraction when years later they are brought together again. Only this time Von has a secret that could ruin everything. I really enjoyed Von and Vince's story, and can't wait to read more by Alyne Hart. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

This is the third book in The Men of Evansdale County Series. This story can be listened as a standalone. This is a great and sweet second chance to love story, with a great HEA. I love the two epilogues. Vincent (Vin) and Shavon (Von) are great characters. I like the little one, Violet. Isabella Starr did a great job with the narration. Now, I can't wait for the next book in the Series, What about us. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
