In my continuing efforts to improve my Irish language skills, I decided to read this stalwart of Irish education. I hadn't read it before (I did A thig ná tit orm for my Junior Certificate) so I had no preconceptions about this book. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to understand, I only had trouble with a few sentences, and there was a helpful glossary of words at the end. I enjoyed the story of Niall, a tired-out teacher who's encounter with a strange passenger on the DART changes his life forever.
Táim ag iarraidh mo leibhéal Gaeilge a fheabhsú. Mar sin, tá an leabhar seo den scoth. Tá sé scríofa ar bhealach simplí ach tá sé go maith do dhaoine fásta. Tá an scéal suimiúil agus siamsúil. Tá roinnt comhrá maith ann. Ceapaim gur leabhar maith é seo do léitheoirí atá ag filleadh ar an teanga cosúil liom. Tá 'glossary' de focal agus frásaí tábhachtacha ann freisin.
I really liked this book. It was written in Irish that I could easily understand without sounding too simple, and the story is really incredible. I read the first two chapters on the bus into town, the second two on the bus home and finished when I got there.
