As the Carras family, still reeling from the death of one of their own, returns to Boston, they’re immediately detained by Homeland Security at Logan Airport. As confusion ensues regarding their detainment, two-year-old Rose Carras is abducted. Panic-stricken, the Carras family pulls together a team to help search for the young girl.
Derek Chandler, a Boston ATF agent and best friend of Stephanous Petros, once again finds himself entangled in the underworld—this time to help Nadia Montgomery, an ICE agent who had been undercover for several years, in the human trafficking division but who was now showing signs of stress.
In a matter of days, Derek realizes that there is a very fine line between which side of the law he is on.
I grew up in Maine as a ward of the State from the age of five to eighteen. Having been shuttled from foster home to foster home I must confess it wasn't always easy trying to figure life out. My imagination was the place I could go and live and sometimes hide from the real world.
I have been writing poetry and short stories since the age of 8, never really understanding that, even I, could put the stories out there for readers until I was in my forties.
I am just like all of you. I like to read and am a fan of many authors. I struggle with everyday problems and crisis', from financial to relationships, even to somehow getting through the passing of a baby we named Arianna. Like you, I laugh, I cry and I bleed when I am cut.
I am so grateful for every one of you and for taking a chance in reading my books. Whether or not you like my writing, and I hope you do :D, just the simple fact that you did give me that chance means more than you will ever know. "When the world says give up HOPE whispers, 'try it one more time'"
That was a very pleasant surprise for me to realize Kelly Ilebode had kept building on the story started in The Corner Booth and the Chameleon in 2015..
Like the first two books in the series, Destiny stands alone in terms of the relationship between the main characters, this time we follow Derek the ATF agent with a conflict of interest looming, while catching up with the characters of previous books. He's pulled undercover to help Nadia another agent in deep cover. Sparks fly when they realize they know each other.
In terms of plot, it follows immediately the plot of book 2, The Chameleon. Book 2 and 3 as a result don't stands alone in term of plot, but should be read in order, to fully enjoy the action.
Destiny ends on a mild cliffhanger ( i.e. the main characters are HFN and their plot is solved, but the next story has been set up) so I really hope Ms Ilebode will keep entertaining us by continuing this series. A lot of new promising characters were introduced in Destiny, and I can't wait to read their story... Plus Sakis Carras clearly has some explaining to do!
I was happy to finally get Derek's story, but i always feel like these books jump around from person to person. I also felt a bit like there was no real ending. I need more closure or happy ending for all these couples.
