Obsidiar Fleet #5

Suns of the Aranol

Rate this book
The Aranol. Death comes to everything. With tenacity and fearless determination, the human Confederation has fought against the overwhelming forces of the Vraxar. Still the aliens keep on coming. Following the events on New Earth, a chance sighting presents an opportunity too good to ignore. One of the Vraxar’s remaining capital ships – Ix-Gastiol – is located in close orbit around a star. Fleet Admiral Duggan prepares to strike against the mightiest of the alien vessels. With a strong fleet of warships assembled and an Obsidiar bomb to back them up, he believes success is within reach. However, the Vraxar have existed for millennia and Ix-Gastiol has overseen the extinction of a hundred species. This will be no easy mission. When everything goes badly, catastrophically wrong, it’s left to Captain Charlie Blake and Lieutenant Eric McKinney to put it right. Trapped within the endless depths of an alien spaceship, they must lead a small squad to achieve the impossible and somehow finish what an entire fleet failed to accomplish. Ix-Gastiol holds clues for the resourceful to find. What Blake and McKinney unearth could be the most important discovery of the war, but only if they can escape with the information. Suns of the Aranol is a high-action science fiction adventure and the fifth book in the Obsidiar Fleet series.

Anthony James spent his youth reading what might now be called classic sci-fi and fantasy books. These days, he spends time in his study with the door locked against rampant and ferocious toddlers, writing books of his own.

That's the third person stuff out of the way.

For anyone who's read any of my books, you'll know that I write action science fiction that pulls no punches and which doesn't cram the good stuff into the last couple of chapters. The action starts early and it doesn't let up. I also take care to mix in plenty of humanity. The characters I write are all distinctly believable, often facing uncaring enemies and overwhelming odds. When they win, it's because they did their best.

Go on. Punch an alien today. Better yet, check out my series of books, each one filled with action, technology, warfare, aliens and against-the-odds survival. Lots of kick-back-and-enjoy weekend or evening reading.

Good book, too predictable though

This is a pretty good book, I enjoyed the characters and the action. There are plenty of space battles and battles with Marines against aliens. What I did not like was the fact that a marine troop is going on a mission and most of them get killed before they get there this seems to happen in the lot of books that I read, how about this for a change, let all your troops land and get into a magnificent battle. Where they can get killed courageously, and have a holding action so that the main characters can finish the story and they get out alive. That might be a good change in a book one day. Since this is a good series I will finish the last book in it.

Great again

Another great story of this saga. Loved it and loved the writing. Very good. The story kept me reading and anticipating what new twists and turns Anthony James had in store for the crew. Ready for the next book in the series.

Unimaginably big space ships

Well what an amazing ending. All out warfare that dwarves all the books before.
What has happened to the crew of confederate warship. Are they alive, destroyed or lost.
I can't wait for the next one.😁

Book 5

Book 5 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The plot and characters have grown well throughout this series. The overall was okay, I was a bit disappointed in the fighting with the enemy. I will read the next book.

WOW!
Those 3 letters should tell you how this last and final book in the series was.
Great book, outstanding ending... I'm very sad the series is over.

BUT, I gave it 5 stars for a reason... the entire series was great, and I highly recommend them to everyone.

Good, but not the best

This book was harder to get through than the previous ones. The plot seemed to drag and there were a whole lot of what-if’s that had to come together. Still, I enjoyed it.

Awesome Sci-fi

Another outstanding installment in the series and a first rate adventure. The author's storyline and detail to his art weaves great space opera. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.

Good read.

This book was great and kept with the storyline as the rest of the books in the series so far. There was plenty of action both in space and on the planet's. I enjoyed this book and have enjoyed the series as well so far. On to the next one.

Damn!

I was hoping that this was the last book. I’m not entirely sure what else could happen that required another book to explain the couple of lose ends.
