Wow wee!!! I just said I'd never read Mafia genre books and here's second one in matter of days. I didn't intend to in either case but rather the books were parts of series that weren't necessarily Mafia.
Well, this is pretty darn exciting. I think Vi is brilliant in the excitement storyline of a Mafia fellah who while trying to exclude himself from some of the more unsavory parts of the career finds himself getting deeper along with his half sister's bf, Amber.
Amber is sass and wicked fun. She is the lightness to this dark tale.
Good read.

I love Vi Carter's more recent books, but this one felt like a rough first draft.
I enjoyed that Amber as a heroine; she is charming and starts off very emotionally smart. But once she started working for Emmett, the story completely devolves in terms of plot and romance. We never see why or how Emmett suddenly falls for her. He is cold and annoyed by her at their first meeting, them all of a sudden he is in love with her. The plot was tedious and the premise of Amber getting caught up in the mafia world became ridiculous.

Claiming Amber was such an amazing sequel. When I read Saving Grace, I didn’t really know a lot about Emmett and I was really interested in discovering his story. It was really nice to get to know Amber and Emmett and definitely Emmett because he’s really vague in Saving Grace and you could tell that he was keeping some secrets.
The story was amazingly written and fast paced. I finished Claiming Amber in one day and I just need the next book in the series, Taking Laura. Vi Cater is such an amazing indie author and thanks again for letting me read and review your books!

Absolutely a well written story that has a nice story line and plot. I like the characters and that they are well described.
Their passion and chemistry is amazing.
The story is written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters and pull the reader more into it.
Two characters that have a lot thrown at them. The drama, danger, passion, steam and twists makes it worth the read.
Fast paced but still captivating and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book I was quickly pulled into the story and it held my interest and kept me reading right until the very end. There is a lot going off in this book and the story flows really well it had great characters that had lots of chemistry and it is very well written another super read from Vi I would recommend it

Everything that can go wrong goes wrong for her. Now she has been arrested and he comes to her rescue but he is not a good guy. He is trying to stay clean and above board. He is not having much luck. Now he needs to keep her safe. What will happen to her can be keep her safe? See what will happen

Liked this book much better than Grace and Derek's.
This book with Emmett and Amber had so much more going for it. You had alot of action and backstabbing between groups that you were pulled in to figure out who to trust. At times I had no way of figuring out how Emmett and Amber were going to make it to the next chapter. Highly recommend this book.

I have received an arc of this book and i leave a honest review because i loved it.
I have read the book in one day.
It’s book 2 in the series A broken heart 💔
First i have to say that i love the cover and the fact that the models don’t show off their tattoos and murderer attitudes i really like it 😁
Amber is the best friend of Grace, Emmett’s half-sister, but she has no clue what her brother is dealing with exactly.
Amber is a mid twenties nurse that likes to live her life and goes to parties and gets herself into trouble as she ends up in prison for a night and she calls Grace to save her but Grace sends Emmett to bail her.Then she gets evacuated and the next thing, she found herself in Emmett’s hotel where they interact more. She is sassy and funny. He offers her a job as a nurse and funds herself covered in blood facing what and how her job will be from now on. He is set up and has to protect his people and isolate themselves in a compound. She escapes several times from him but he goes after her every time. In between all the things going on we can see how the attraction is growing and what they start to feel for each other but don’t want to recognise yet.She sees more and more of him through every little detail that he is letting out and he is confused because she is the only woman who stood up to him, insulting him and not fearing him.As they get more threatened she starts to fear him and get scared and shows how vulnerable she is actually and he wants to confess to her and see if she can accept him and his past and what he does now won’t make her leave him again because he starts to feel more for her and doesn’t want to lose her. Through his paintings with red, browns and black she can see exactly how dark, broken and dangerous he is,”like looking into his soul ” An ex , one night stand, working for his father makes her jealous and she runs away again from him but she gets kidnapped again by his father as a guarantee that Emmett won’t kill his father.There are a lot of dangerous moments when she feels like her life is threatened and although he found her again, she fears he won’t be able this time to save them. Police is involved and reciprocative fires are taking place when she is shot and she has to go at the hospital . He gets locked up and she goes to her parents house to recover. After a month he gets back to her and they have their HEA😁 as he is free from the underworld that had to live before and can be with her now.
I liked the writing style, easy and understandable. I loved how each characters grew more with each page and how they get confused about their feelings towards the other one because they want to have control over their feelings and not suffer.
Ok, now the sex part, I really liked that it was a slow burn, could see the attraction between them very clear and loved the ideas with getting to understand him more by showing her his paintings and always letting her to know and see the real him or the one he can be with her, he lets her see how he wants to control everything, how egotistical he can be at times and also how vulnerable can be because of her.
I had some questions as for a stand-along we should have a bit more information as I understood that the characters are showed in the first book too but i haven’t read it.
I gave it a 4⭐️ and looking forward for others books by this author 💕

Amber is Graces best friend and she’s in trouble- but Grace is out of town and mustsend her brother to help. Emmett is attractive but dark, and he’s made Amber a source of interest by the wrong side. He vows to employ her, but then must protect her as he battles to step out of his mafia fathers footsteps and go legit.
Emmett will do what ever it takes, go the distance even on the wrong side. He wants out of his old life but that comes with several challenges, prices and a cost to Ambers safety.
I was given the opportunity to read this arc directly from Vi Carter- it’s a honor to give my honest opinion.
Normally I don’t read dark romance or mafia princes, crime novels or things with characters with questionable morals- but after being introduced to Emmett in saving Grace I wanted to know more. Then to learn the tragedy that changed Amber and her once HEA with peter I was hooked to know more.
This is action packed, full of intrigue, danger, quick thinking, darkness and hope. It shows love can really do so much. I think this deserves 4.5 stars.
I do have some questions and the ending needed more. How did the court case go with Emmett? Is he out legitimately? What about wedding bells and babies for them? What happened to Lily, and Peter?
Does Craig finally get help- his darkest moments are taking the light Grace and Amber saw, will he finally recover or die from his vices? What about Jp and Mandy? Or Michael?
Does Luke get his own story?

Wow! This well written, fast paced mobster romance was fully with gritty, raw, intense graphic scenes. Full of action, intrigue, suspense, and angst.
Snarky but sweet Amber is introduced at a low point in her life. We know she’s suffering from some kind of loss and is medicating the pain with alcohol and bad choices. In desperation to get out of jail, she calls her best friend and soul sister Grace, who then asks her brother Emmett to help.
This starts the story of murder, vengeance, betrayal and retribution as Emmett is not who he seems.
Their attraction to each other and growing relationship is filled with tension and mystery. Emmett can’t help himself as he is drawn to Amber and cannot stop himself. His history and lifestyle puts Amber’s life in danger and he will do anything to keep her safe. His alpha persona is further amplified when his past brokenness is soothed by Ambers presence. Their chemistry is off the charts and the author’s writing style really builds the tension as they fall deeper and deeper into each other.

Her life was a joke going from one party to the next drinking her life away with nothing to show for it. Not that she didn't have a skill it's just that drinking and partying was more important. A night in the drunk tank and a rescue by Emma's handsome yet angry step-brother leads her on a journey she will not soon forget. Accepting help and a job leads to excitement, intrigue and more action than she ever thought but more important she looses her heart too. He never wanted to be this person but finding her sooth the beast and gave him the push he needed. His life wasn't a pretty one and it sure wasn't safe. They would both find that out. A solid story of love, vengeance , forgiveness and recovery. Awesome character and a strong story line keep you turning pages from one exciting jump to the next. This author may be new to the scene but with each book she is showing the skill to keep you invested in her characters and hooked on her plot.

This is a well written book with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author brings a mobster romance filled with danger,intrigue,suspense and tons of action as well as the relationship between Amber and Emmett. They have a hot chemistry but also a lot of mystery to work through. The author takes them on an emotional roller coaster ride filled with twists and turns and holds you fast right to the end. I loved this book and highly recommend this book.

This book was a whirlwind of action, adventure, drama, and deceit. The twists were many and the author keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next. I loved Amber - strong, sassy, determined, and unequivocally, a character I hope to read more about in the next book. Emmet was a complex character with hidden talents and if Grace gives him a chance, she is going to be so surprised at the awesomeness that is her brother. The author created a believable story with great characters who will stay with me for a long time to come. I loved this book.

An intriguing, interesting, suspensful action romance between Emmett and Amber. This well written emotional roller coaster ride that is filled with twists and turns, action, adventure, betrayal, kidnapping, drama, and deceit had me guessing and on the edge of my seat. Includes great sex scenes. Amber is always making bad chooses and getting in trouble until she meets Emmett or so she thought. He is a business man and part of the mafia. A great read full of sparks as they work towards their HEA.

Amber is making a mess of her life, and when she needs help it's her best friend Grace, who sends her brother Emmett to help. Emmett can't stop thinking about her, so .when he offers her a job it seems perfectly, until she sees what her job is , now she knows she's in deep, with Emmett trying to protect her and her trying to hide the fact she's fallen for him. One big cracker to pull no disappointment here fast paced, suspense with a serving of romAnce on the side.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I have really enjoyed reading every book that Video Carter has written that I have read, but this one is one of my favorites.
She did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major two characters, but the minor ones too.
Also, it caused me to lose quite a bit of sleep while I was reading it, because it was so hard to put down at night.

A Really Good Book
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I liked this really enjoyable, entertaining book from Vi Carter. It has a great, interesting, well written storyline that kept me engrossed from beginning to end. I really liked and enjoyed reading about the lovely, engaging characters, they really kept me interested in this book. I loved their story. I love the hardness and bad ass of Emmett, though his protectiveness of Amber shone through throughout the book.

My first book by this author. The book is well written and the characters were engaging with a storyline that grabbed your attention and emotions. Amber and Emmett’s chemistry is off the charts. If you like drama, suspense, betrayal and emotional roller coaster ride than pick this one up it will not disappoint.

The book is a good romance read. The story is well written read, and has an interesting story line. The characters are good, they are strong, and have good chemistry. The story is a mobster romance filled with danger, intrigue, suspense, mystery, and a lot of action. The story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride with twists and turns.

Amber constantly falls into trouble. Once she calls Grace for bailing her out and Grase's brother Emmet comes to the rescue. And after then their paths constantly cross. He offers her a nursing job at his gym. After that day he tries to protect her life due to his dangerous and suspicios business. He is drawn to her beacause she is not affraid of him and so their story begins.

This is a story about Emmet and Amber. I liked the character of Amber because she was strong woman and I felt like I could connect to her and would react the say way she did in many situation. On the flip side Emmet was such a mystery to us in the beginning and had so many secrets that I was on edge waiting to see what would happen next. This story had the perfect amount of suspense and love story.

Loved this story about Amber and Emmett. Amber is at a low point in her life and she reaches out to her friend, Grace. Grace seeks help for Amber through her brother, Emmett. Emmett is a hotel owner and a gangster and ends up really falling for Amber and this puts her in danger. Can they get a HEA or will it all fall apart? Great read and beautiful story.

After finishing Saving Grace (which was awesome) I felt like I needed more. It didn’t feel like their story was done and I wanted more. With Amber and Emmett, although I wouldn’t say no to more, their characters as a couple were established in my mind. Funny, fast and sexy. Great read.

There is a lot of things going on in this book but I think the main two things are you cant help who you fall in love with when it's true love, and sometimes people get into bad stuff don't hold it against them, if they want to change they can.
