Craved by Her Cougar is the fourth and final book in the Cougar Creek Mates series, however, it can be read as a standalone. The series focuses on four brothers, Flint, Rath, Storm and Cobalt. Craved by Her Cougar is Cobalt’s story.
I am a big fan of Felicity Heaton, but for some reason I was not feeling this story. I guess it is due in part to the fact that the plot-line for this installment was similar to that of the previous books. The story centres on the gathering, where male cougar shifters fight to prove themselves as suitable mates for female shifters who have attained maturity. Cobalt’s position as a protector for the pride rendered him ineligible from taking part in the gathering, which was never a problem until now. The woman he loves, his fated mate was now eligible to be a part of the gathering.
Cobalt is a man haunted by his past and events he considered failures and he believes he is not a suitable mate for Ember.
I was curious to learn about Cobalt after meeting him in the previous installments. However, after reading his story, I was disappointed. He is aggressive by nature, and always itching for a fight, yet he refused to fight for the woman he loved. I found his constant state of denial regarding his feelings for Ember frustrating.
I enjoyed getting to know Ember. She grew throughout the story. It thrilled me when she stood up to her mom, who made it her mission to meddle in her life. Ember knew what she wanted, and she went after it.
Heaton writes intense and exciting fight scenes, and this was no different. Her descriptions and attention to detail would make readers feel as if they were at the scene.
Conclusion
Craved by Her Cougar is a short read. The writing was good, but the story was bland. I would read a book of this size in one sitting, but I kept putting it aside, therefore it took me several sittings over a two-day period to complete it.
Recommendation
Although I did not enjoy this as I hoped, I know there are other readers who enjoyed it. If you love shifter romance, you can try this one; you may have better luck than I did.

Cobalt has known that Ember is his fated mate for 20 years but he was waiting until she reached 100 before acting on his feelings. He thought he had plenty of time to talk her around but now her mother is determined to find a mate for her at the pride gathering and Cobalt's position as protector means he's not allowed to step forward and try to win her heart.
Ember has spent years following her mother's plans and allowing her to control her life, that's been great while her mother was turning away unwanted suitors but she's not so happy now that her mother has decided it's time for her to settle down. There is only one man Ember is interested in and he's taken great pains to keep his distance from her. Finally deciding to take her fate into her own plans Ember intends to go get her man but first she needs to break a few pride rules to claim him.
Craved by her Cougar is the fourth and final book in Felicity Heaton's Cougar Creek Mates series and I really enjoyed getting to know Cobalt better. Like his brothers he blames himself for not protecting the pride better the night that Archangel attacked and killed his parents and a lot of other pride members and he has been punishing himself for that ever since even though there was nothing more he could have done at the time. Now seeing all his brother's happily mated while he isn't even allowed to tell Ember how he feels is tearing him apart.
I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the way the cougar males battle it out to win a chance to woo the female pride members, especially when it seems like any male can step forward and try whether the woman is interested in them or not. I know she gets to say no to any winners but it seems so pointless letting them have all these battles when the woman isn't going to say yes to any of the men who are fighting so viciously! I was a bit worried that there was going to be a lot of that in this story but luckily the fights that do happen are mainly off page until towards the end of the book and there aren't as many as I expected. Ember knows she wants Cobalt and she's not interested in the battles either, she just wants to claim her man and have him claim her in return. This has been a fun series and I'm glad we've seen all of the brothers find happiness now.

Embers name is perfect as it matched her character well as she is hot for Cobalt. Cobalt has issues but he still has his pride and will fight for his mate. The fights are good. The bedroom times are hot and steamy.
I really enjoyed this book and the series, Cobalt was the last of the brothers to mate, so this series of novellas is over. Hopefully, the brothers may show up in the main series as it's set in the same world.

I can’t believe this is the last in the series. I’m not ready for it to be over *wails*
We definitely went out with a bang on this one. Cobalt and Ember’s story was everything I could’ve hoped for. I will say this though - I have never wanted to smack a pair of characters upside the head more than these two.

Honestly, as if I didn’t have enough stress in my own life, I was in very real danger of ending up with an ulcer. And, I know whose feet I’d be laying the blame *nods knowingly*
Whaaa? Pfft, over-dramatic? Me? I don’t think so - once you’ve read it we can talk.
As ‘The Gathering’ draws to a close, Cobalt has a decision to make. Acknowledge who and what Ember means to him or face the very real possibility of losing her forever. For a man being eaten alive with self-doubt, especially given recent dealings, this is easier said than done.
Since the attack that changed their lives, and that of their pride, three decades ago, Ember has tried to be the perfect daughter for her mother. With her first heat reaching its peak, she has to decide whether to succumb to her mother’s will or follow that of her heart and the man that holds it.
Rath is a man of few words, but when he does, he tells it like it is. He had a few home truths for both Cobalt and Ember. I was virtually high-fiving him. Ivy is one lucky lady.
Anyhoo, I digress (as usual) ...
So prepare, you’ll experience a variety of emotions. I don’t know why I’m snorting at that. Or maybe I do, and I’m sure you can as well - head meet gutter.
If there was just one teeny tiny thing I would have loved at the end was an epilogue, so we could’ve seen what their lives were like after. Sorry, y’all know how greedy I get *shrugs*

Somebody pass me a fan! The attraction, nay, lust between Cobalt, a cougar shifter, and Ember, also a cougar shifter but one that has just come into her maturity at 100, is palpable. Cobalt has known that Ember is his intended mate for years and because of her age he has been able to do nothing about it. Now that she is available he believes he isn't good enough for her and has to hold on to his temper when he sees other shifters fighting for the right to mate with her. What he doesn't realise is that Ember only wants him. Will they give in to their passion and have a chance of a happy life together, or will another cougar win that right?
This book screamed romance and adventure from the very first page. The tension building not just with Ember and Cobalt, but the other males that were fighting for Ember was so intense I was on the proverbial edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. The passion when it happened exploded from the page. Felicity Heaton knows how to write a sensual, very erotic love scene without going over the top. Time for that fan again!
Although the main story, of course, is about Ember and Cobalt, I really enjoyed the story behind the shifters lives, how Cobalt and his brothers mated with their females, about the gathering where male shifters fight for the right to mate with the female shifters in heat that needed 'easing'. Craved by her Cougar is the fourth and final book in the Cougar Creek Mates series, and we concentrate on Cobalt, and his fated female, Ember. Cobalt has seen what his brothers have gone through, and sympathies with them. However, he has his own problems as he has an incredibly dark side (so he thinks), and he knows that Ember's mother will not find him a suitable match. He has been fighting his feelings for her the whole Spring Gathering, but control slips away when Ember lets him know she wants him too.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, each of the stories has been a great read in and of itself. This one though... best of the bunch for me. I can't quite put my finger on what worked so well for me, but I can honestly say it all worked! The conflicting feelings of Cobalt, Ember's feelings for her mother and the fights, the sympathy for both of them, the happiness when they got together, the heartbreak when Cobalt has to fight, to prove he can protect her. It's all here, and it works perfectly.
If there were any editing or grammatical errors, then I can safely say I missed them as I was too engrossed in the story. I don't think there were, because this is a Felicity Heaton book, but if I'm wrong and there were, then it definitely didn't disrupt the flow of the story.
One helluva book, and definitely recommended by me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, each of the stories has been a great read in and of itself. This one though... best of the bunch for me. I can't quite put my finger on what worked so well for me, but I can honestly say it all worked! The conflicting feelings of Cobalt, Ember's feelings for her mother and the fights, the sympathy for both of them, the happiness when they got together, the heartbreak when Cobalt has to fight, to prove he can protect her. It's all here, and it works perfectly.
If there were any editing or grammatical errors, then I can safely say I missed them as I was too engrossed in the story. I don't think there were, because this is a Felicity Heaton book, but if I'm wrong and there were, then it definitely didn't disrupt the flow of the story.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!
I've been a Felicity fan for years; her early books were fantastic, and her books just keep getting better. I love how many characters she can create, and how they all maintain their personalities, even while making cameos subsequent books. I also love how SMOKING HOT her books are, both during the love scenes and the tension leading up to them, and I also love the gritty fight scenes she so masterfully describes.
I had met Ember in book 1 (this book is a standalone, but the whole series is AMAZING), and I wasn't sure what to make of her and her meddling mother. I truly felt for her, being the victim of an overbearing and controlling parent, especially since her personality seemed on the meeker side.
But, then Felicity threw in the whole "they are fated mates" thing, so she and Cobalt were physically and spiritually drawn to each other, and it was just...wow. Especially where Cobalt was concerned; the longing and the desperation and the anger and rage at not being able to have his mate...sigh...I LOVE "fated mate" stuff!
And THEN, Ember flipped a switch and look out! Everything changed and sparks flew.
I'm sad to leave Cougar Creek, but I can't wait for the next journey Felicity will take me on!

The final brother has met his match. Literally. Unfortunately for him, he met her a couple of decades ago and had to wait until she reached a point where things could happen between them, but that's the way things sometimes happen between shapeshifters.
The good news? Ember returns Cobalt's affections. Not that either of them can come out and admit it right away. FOR REASONS. Heh. That makes it sound mysterious, but really it's just a controlling mom and a man who doesn't think he's worthy of the love of a woman like Ember after his loss of control years ago. This has been an amazing series with this newest release round out as book 4. Felicity just has the knack in creating worlds and characters you can't help but love and enjoy meeting.
My favorite in the series is the 1st one, but Cobalt's presence was all over the previous books. What he wanted and needed summed up in the sweet beautiful Ember.
The cat in a bubble looking from the inside at the prize. He has a job to do and it isn't making eyes at the beauty that holds his attention. She is quiet and shy and it was a joy reading her coming into her own. what will win the day? duty or love? could both?
I loved the cover and the length of the story, it started just a wee bit slow but filled out with detail and character personality. A sweet story a bit of stubbornness and lack of communication. (laughs) not a lot of heat, some but not a lot. Cobalt and Ember make this book a great addition to the Series. Enjoy

This story is the fourth (and final) book in a new shifter series called Cougar Creek Mates Shifter Romance Series, which is an offshoot of the Eternal Mates series (which I love) and based in the same world.
Cobalt is a wonderful character. I liked this shifter a lot, even though he's full of angst and tends to mope around. However, he has reason to sulk. He has loved Ember from afar for more than twenty years after he realised she was his destined mate. He didn't expect her to attend the Gathering, but when he sees her there, he’s torn between his instincts and duty. Will he claim his mate?
Ember is also a wonderful character. I like this feisty female shifter. She has known that Cobalt is her fated mate for many years and she only agreed to go to the Gathering to claim him. Unfortunately, she realised her mistake too late - he couldn't join in the Gathering due to his duty to the pride as a protector. Now she faces a dark future if her mother chooses her mate for her from the males vying for her attention. But can she win the man who holds her heart?
I began reading this story, told through both Cobalt's and Ember's points of view and quickly became hooked. The action is intense from the start. Cobalt's angst has been hinted at through the previous books in the series, so finally getting to read his and Ember's story is a relief in a way. This story goes to the opposite ends of insta-love. These two characters have loved each other for several decades, but due to Ember's immaturity and not reaching 'adulthood' for that period, it has been a slow-burning fuse. Now Ember has reached mating age, the fuse ignites and becomes a conflagration. The story takes the reader through a roller coaster ride of emotions.
The reader also gets to meet the other characters from the previous books: Rath and Ivy, and Flint and Yasmin. Storm and Gabi are on honeymoon, so don't make an appearance. Nevertheless, they have a presence in the book too.
There is another fantastic fight scene or two that gripped me from beginning to end. Of course, I knew who would win; there was no doubt. This author has a fantastic way of describing fight scenes that come alive. I am feeling a little sad that this side series has come to an end, but I am hopeful that we will meet these characters again in the Eternal Mates universe in the not too distant future. There is the connection to Archangel to investigate after all.
I reached the end of the book with mixed feelings. I love the shifter world the author has created but feel let down by the rushed feel to the series. I don't know if the author is putting on too much pressure onto herself to get these books out quickly, or not. I prefer quality over quantity, and this book is decidedly below her best work, even though I still loved it. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the Eternal Mates series to see what happens next.
Felicity Heaton has written another fast-paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I love her fast-paced writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is still on top of my favourite author's list.
I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of cat shifters and other paranormal species. - Lynn Worton

Craved by Her Cougar, the final book in the Cougar Creek Series. It definitely can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend the whole series to get the complete story of these four brothers. That being said on to the final brother, Cobalt.
Cobalt, a man with issues, and who has pretty much help hit rock bottom. His life and business is in shambles, he just trying to find a place to get his life together. He thinks “the gathering” can give him the fresh start, as well as, to prove to the other cougars that he is not a volatile liability. But, secretly, he is also wants to prove his worth to his “fated one”. Maybe just maybe, he can do things right and get the one thing he truly covers just moment with the one who has had his heart for about two centuries...
Ember has finally achieved maturity, so her mother has decided it is time to participate in “the gathering”. Ember is being offered up to the man with the most status & money and that have to meet her mother’s final approval and that can elevate the family name. Ember has always tried to please and not cause any trouble but this is about to make her hit her limit. Their is only one Cougar she wants, but his duty is to watch not participate, Cobalt. She has been a prisoner in her own life and “the needing” is beginning to make her a prisoner of her own body. She just wants one moment to see he feels the same. She wants him to see that she can see him and doesn’t care how others see him, but can she really find the courage to follow her heart and capture the heart of the only one she desires...
Ember and Cobalt both have some serious obstacles to overcome. Some have been engrained into the personality so deep that it is almost complete reflex to view life and live it the way it is expected of them both. This story is a good paranormal shifter romance with a relatively good pace and an easy read. I have to admit that occasionally Ember and Cobalt do some things that make you just want to say “gods, really get over yourself”, but that are few and far in between and don’t detract from the overall story. I would recommend this book to anyone who does love a quick paranormal shifter romance, the characters and plot are developed and you don’t feel like you are lacking anything. Pick this one up, find out can Cobalt overcome his perceived issues and can Ember find the courage to fight for the one thing in her heart that is worth it? Can Ember find a way to capture the one heart that is encased in self-made walls by its owner? And can these two fated ones finally find their happy ever after? Pick it up and find out!

In this book we meet Cobalt , for the last twenty years he has wanted this one girl . Ember , they have been friends forever and now that she is coming to the gathering . Cobalt is torn between his duty of pride protector and the pull his fated mate is calling to him . Will they be able and get the one he truly loves. Or will his demons from the past come back and haunt him.
This is book 4 in the series and I think the author left the best for the last , The characters are so well written and complex . Cobalt is a complicated guy . He has been through a lot, the loss of his parents and then the loss of his business. He is hurting and when we meet him he is barely hanging on by a thread . He is oh so sexy and trust me ladies you will want to climb him like a spider monkey. But he is also broken and the only person that fix that is Ember . I have met her in other books and I didn't really like her at the beginning but she has grown on me. She is strong and knows what she wants , Cobalt . She is sexy and sweet all rolled into one , she knows how to work her curves but also is kind of shy . They are so hot together when they get together. Rath and the other cougars make an appearance to help keep the peace .

They so needed to come to terms and let the past be the past . The author throws a lot at them and takes us on an adventure. There are parts of this book that will melt your kindle so have a cold drink close by . Enjoy the series ladies . I am kind of sad that this is the last brothers book . I truly like all the books and the author's way of story telling . So if you want a fun read that will have you reading all night long .

Holly Hell what a book! This is a phenomenally well written and thought out book. It was such a joy to read. It had this wonderful flow to it and I had a hard nearly imposable to put down.
This is the four book in the series if you have not read the first three books do not worry these books can be read as a standalone. But this review may give away some spoilers as there is a back story in the book. And it mentions others from the first few books. I so cannot wait to read more books by felicity.

I’ve never been disappointed in a Heaton story. I am, however, satisfied with the conclusion of this series, fully ready to vacate Cougar Creek.

The final installment of the Cougar Creek Mates saga is as wonderful as the previous three. The big difference in this as compared to the previous three, is that Cobalt and Ember are already enamored of one another when the book begins (and long before) so the story is really about them finding their way to one another.
Cobalt is the least put together and possibly the most broken of the brothers, and thus it seems appropriate that his story be the conclusion. He finds his way to accepting himself with the help of Ember and his brothers. It is an amazing story of family and love and how healing can take time and so much care.
Ember is an interesting character in that we get to watch her come into her own and learn to stand on her own two feet in this story. As with Cobalt, she has known for decades that he's her mate, but hasn't done or said anything about it. In the end, she had to grow into herself and he had to learn a few things too, so the wait was worth it for them.
A happy ending for the whole family, this book wraps up the series perfectly. Thank you Felicity for another wonderful story!

For years now Colbalt has known that Ember is his fated mate. This is the first year she has been mature enough to come to the spring gathering. Unfortunately he and his family don't participate in the fighting over the right to ease the females through their mating heat, because someone has to control what could otherwise turn into a bloodbath.
Watching other males fight and be rejected is bringing him to the limit of his control.
Ember is quite happy that her mother keeps rejecting all the prospective males. There is only one she will ever consider, and he is not allowed to participate.
This is an emotional and tension filled story. Our hero lost control once and it has made everyone terrified of him. He knows he can seriously hurt someone if it happens again.
Our heroine is not afraid of taking what she wants.
Very exciting read and the last of this series. You could quite easily read it on it's own, but the series is better if you read about all the brothers in order.

Final book in this mini spinoff
So the second oldest brother Cobalt has found his fated female Ember but it is his duty of his bloodline to not participate in the spring mating extravaganza. Plus it makes things difficult when he has a dark side complete with temper. So watching his female from afar has Cobalt messed up and fighting for control. He’s craving her for a long time. Little does he know that his female feels the same for her fated male. Ember just hit maturity and spring gathering is her first season in heat. She has loved Cobalt but her meddling mother and her insecurities may cause Ember to either be brave and get her man or choose a cowards way.
Frustration galore with this book. Although a proficient and talented writer, Felicity really stresses the frustration on this one. The strain alone is immense. But if you persevere through it, the story does relieve the tension and the overwhelming frustration.

We read this book for episode 55 of our podcast. This is the fourth book in the Cougar Creek series by Felicity Heaton and it is time for Cobalt, the last brother to find his destiny. Having read the first three books in the series, with Cobalt and Ember mention in all three, it was nice to finally get to read their story. I loved the length of the story, it started a little slow but filled out with detail and character personality. A sweet story about overcoming personal fears for both, about whether or not each is good enough for the other. Of course the book has Ms. Heaton's sexy hot love scences also. But in the end they work thru their fears and doubts to come together for the HEA. It was nice to see the three other brothers and their mates make an appearance in the book also. A nice end to the series. Love Felicity Heaton's books. Can't wait to read her next book In the Eternal Mates Series.

I should have read the novellas a little slower. I’m glad though that Cobalt was the last of the brothers to get his book. He has it just as hard as the rest of the brothers, especially since his true mate is there at the gathering, but he can’t have her.
This book was a very entertaining book for being the last of the Cougar Creek Mates books. I give the final book in the series 4.5 stars and highly recommend this book and the series to Paranormal Romance readers. If you’re a fan of Felicity Heaton’s book, then you’ll enjoy these series. If you haven’t read this series yet, now is the time to start it.
I hope I get to read about these brothers again, but if I don’t, I have these books to re-read over and over again. 🙂

(Cobalt & Ember): the fourth and final brother of this series is Cobalt. Known to the clan as the screwup because he can be a bit vicious when pushed too far. Ember we saw in the first book when her mother offered her to Rath to take care of her heat. Ember is in the village for what I call the mate convention. Her mom is holding court where the males will fight for her. Problem is… her true mate is already there, Cobalt. And they both know it. The story then becomes a struggle of wills. Ember fighting to claim her mate and Cobalt pushing her away. I loved this book the best, it was really good and you could tell the two really loved each other. I also liked that this one involved two cougars for a change.

Craved by her Cougar( Cougar Creek, #4) by Felicity Heaton is a paranormal shifter romance that can be read as a stand alone. This story is centered around Cobalt and Ember. With the Gathering coming to an end, Ember has yet to choose a male. Finally a story where the female character brings it! Ember, you go girl! For as broody as Cobalt is, she countered him at every turn and took what she wanted. Her male. Super hot. It's close, but I think this is my favorite of the four books in this series. Unlike the previous books, there isn't a lot of drama in this one which is fine. I recommend this book along with the others in this series.

I've enjoyed this series. This final book added a nice element of a couple who've known each other for a long time, and finally got themselves together enough to take things further. It's also a great example of people building up walls over their own issues and a lack of belief in their own worth muddying the waters and making a relationship difficult. That makes this novel a good reminder to us as readers, that when we don't believe in ourselves, we create obstacles in our path to happiness and success.
Fun PNR series. I definitely recommend it for lovers of spicy fated-mates PNR with unusual creatures. The cougars were a lot of fun and added a unique touch.

Ember's mother, and Cobalt's doubt of his suitability for her. But love will always win out in the end. This is their story how they overcame their own obstacles, Ember standing up to her mother, Cobalt fighting his demons in his own way. I loved the story the way it flowed. I love a tough female standing up for what she wants. I recommend you read the book, I promise you will enjoy it. I recommend you start with book one, Rath's story as each one covers the brothers story leading to the final. A*********** Highly recommended.
