Together We Fall #2

The Light We Seek

Rate this book
Now that I survived the initial storm, I find myself back where I once was: under the control of my dickish parents (if dickish even is a word).

Day by day, the world gets worse. Storms brew on the east coast, volcanos erupt on the west, and zombie-like creatures continue to attack the cities. Where does that leave me? Hopefully not dead...at least, not yet.

Circumstance finds me in route to Atlanta, one of the cities that has fallen, accompanied by seven guys that I swear are as insane as I am. Together, we will face the monsters that plague our country.

But monsters can take any form. We will come to realize that even the most beautiful of people can end up being the most deadliest of creatures. Are we capable of surviving the apocalypse or will we succumb to the darkness around us?

This is a reverse harem series, meaning that the main character won't have to choose between her love interests!

Warning: This book deals with sensitive issues such as abuse, rape, and suicide that some readers may find triggering. Reader discretion is advised.

Editing Is Important, So is Finishing.

Still waiting on sequels to the other two series, I've started by this author I decided to check out her first series. Apparently believing she might have finished a story was ridiculous optimism because this series too is awaiting conclusion. Sadly though, this series isn't as high quality as the other two. The Together We Fall Series is in desperate need of an Editor for continuity, research, spelling and grammar errors. All of the above are on need of work, in addition its clear this series is where she began because it's a bit of a hodge podge of plotlines woven together. We have a seriously abused lead character, male leads in some sort of "team" that hints of being military or spy like in nature but is never explained, psycho stalkers, world ending weather and a deadly zombie virus all in the same series.

It's clear from book two that no forward plotting was done in this series, the main goal of the book, to save her brother, is to save a character that didn't even exist in book one. Like if she cares about him so much, wouldn't she have at least thought of him back when she thought she was dying the first time? He gets no mention whatsoever in the first book and it's quite obvious that the author didn't even come up with this character until the second book. The big villain of book 2, Liz has one minor mention in book 1, but no actual presence there and honestly when she's mentioned in the first book she sounds more like a bad past relationship than a crazy stalker. To be this big of a villain she should have had a presence in the first story. No hints have been as of yet given as to why Addie would have a group of four men out of get her, and it's in the first person so she ought to have a clue. Whoever the next big bad is we again only get a weird mention here and no actual explanation. The whole parental need to keep Addie isn't logical or explained and they just kind of disappear in this series. Basically this series has no solid direction and is in desperate need of forward plotting to figure out a plan. Next we have continuity errors, when we met Addie in book 1, there's a whole thing about her skill in covering bruises with makeup, but in this book she doesn't understand how to use it? This is just one of countless examples of contradictions between established facts in book one that seem to disappear in book 2. If that weren't enough let's talk research, anyone who's badly broken a limb, especially a leg knows that its not all good again 2 weeks later. Addie supposedly not only crushed her leg, but had shards of bone poking from her skin, two weeks later and it's all better? Yeah, no. Even a quick Google search could have established that. We won't even go into swapped names, misspelled words, wrong words and grammatical errors in the two novels. And you know why I'm so clearly frustrated by May's downright laziness on this series? She's clearly talented. She creates interesting and distinctive characters and detailed settings, though her character descriptions could use work. I was almost finished with book 1 before I figured out Ryder was African American l, I was half through book 2 before I understood he and Ronan were biologically brothers and Ronan too was African American, I could have sworn he was a redhead in book 1. That's kind of a major character description that should be obvious and yet wasn't. Despite this the natural talent the writer has is obvious in her work. What she needs is to slow down, figure out where she wants the story to go and who the major characters, both hero and villain are so she can properly foreshadow them in earlier novels. Then after she finishes the rough, edit for continuity, research and copyeditng before pressing publish. Also I don't want more first novels in a series, I want to see something with an ending. What's the point in starting stories by a writer if they never actually finish?

Love it

Great continuation of the story. Looking forward to getting to know more about the characters.

I think all the characters are distinct and I am not getting them mixed up at all like I did in the first book.

Spoilers and speculation...

Why do I think the ones that helped Liz kidnap Addie and Ryder were her parents? Let's hope Liz gets eaten and not just infected.

There is still the question of is Nikolai alive and if so where is he? Why are Addie's parents so dbags? Why does Addie think something happened to Tam just because he is shy and counts everything? Maybe foreshadowing, but I know counting things doesn't always stem from trauma I think. Fallon leaves me with a lot of questions.

Off to read the next book. ;)

I don't know how I felt about this book.

I really do like Addie and the guys are adorable. I am still just as lost and confused after reading this book.

Nothing is really explained, I have no idea where the "virus" came from, or what kind of "school" the boys were going to before the world went to shit.

Some things should have been put into this story and some stuff seemed pointless. I have no idea what the point was of them getting kidnapped by a jealous ex girlfriend when people are turning into zombies or whatever they are turning into.

I will continue with the series because I truly want to see how this is going to end.

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book series to me. This was an incredible read. The story continues to get better. I really love Katie’s writing and she made me love Addie more than the first book. She was still the same hilarious character that we saw in the first one. I actually would not mind to be her and to see these guys. I loved them all so much. I think they are all unique in their own way. I hope there is more to this series because the characters are fantastic and I don’t want this journey to end. Overall, an amazing read.

*SPOILERS from book 1 and 2*

I think this one hit a little too close to home! And maybe if I had read it 6 months ago, I might have rated it much higher. Anyhow, reading it now, it just read as poorly imagined, common run-of-the-mill apocalyptic sitcom with crude jokes.

The scenes, the actions, the reactions, the consequences, the characters - all seemed highly unrealistic and superficially simplistic. Even though the apocalyptic event is world-wide, the tornadoes and storms only seem to hit USA. The politics, the news, the other people's life changing hardships are totally glossed over. The enigmatic zombie creating virus has been built into an unrealistic mystery.

And these discrepancies are glaringly obvious with what is happening today. I understand that this is total fiction, but you cannot have a apocalyptic event without media covered government response. It is just not possible! I also understand the need to build up suspense, but again it was too unbelievable. Just take coronavirus for example; even when we don't know so much about it, we still know so much about it.

The other problem was the characters, especially the protagonist! At one point she believes that she and her bad karma is the reason for the apocalypse! Like, what? I mean, WHAT?!?!! Guilt aside, there is also her idiocy. Her actions are completely off base. Overall, she was simply annoying. Not that the other characters were any better. Every person, other than the heroine and her guys were bad guys! I am sure there are crazy exes out there, but not every past ex is supposed to be nuts! And not every girl falls so much in love with seven guys that they are ready to commit murder for them! Again, what??!

Basically, I don't know whether I would have continued the series if I wasn't on a lockdown in coronavirus pandemic. Because the characters.... ooof! But giving the series benefit of my doubt, I would just like to say I couldn't have chosen a worse timing to read this.

This girl is so annoying. I thought she was funny in the first book but now it just feels over done and exaggerated.

And that episode of kidnap and implied rape doesn’t make sense. I mean this guy is a trained government secret agent, who is supposed to be a bad ass and he cannot over power the crazy girl and has to be rescued by Addie, who can’t walk without tripping herself. Come on!

I’m starting to get confused with this series. At times it was still super fun and outrageous and others it was beyond cheesy and over-exaggerated. The guys are all are infatuated with Addie and of course she’s clueless. It was fun in the beginning but now I’m kind of over it. Her character is a conundrum of sorts, often not even knowing herself, like someone sharing two identities; one that’s aware of the world and understanding of social cues and norms. The other side of her is naive beyond compare, oblivious to the world around her and content with the terrible hand she’s been dealt. Once again the zombies are a backstory and instead Addie wants to travel across the country (or so we’re led to believe, I’m not 100% sure where they are) to rescue her younger brother. Along the way they miraculously seem to need shelter when they are nearby Elena and her friends home, 🤦🏽‍♀️ also the same group of girls the guys have all banged their way through. The way their sex lives were portrayed was almost too much and waaaaay overdone for guys as young as they are, it just doesn’t fit them at all and I’m not sure why it was so consistently brought up that each guy was a manwhore. One reminder is enough smh. Then of course is the threat of a girl from Ryders past who is obsessed with him just took this crazy story to outer space. I kind of hated this whole storyline and really don’t know why it was necessary with so much else going on in the book. And then to break Ryder down like and have him assaulted, well for that, I just don’t get the purpose. The one good thing I guess I can take from that is Fallon letting the zombies aka Ragers eat Liz alive, I’m glad she felt every bite and tear of her flesh, she deserved nothing less. We’re reminded there’s still an unknown threat out for Addie, I’m guessing it’s her parents or someone they work with. They clearly don’t care what happens to her yet they can’t and won’t give up their hold on her. Not sure where this series is going or what will take the focus next. The relationship between them all at this point I’d say is slow going so I’m assuming that’s going to take up a lot of book three but time will tell. Hope they are able to not only find and secure her brother but keep him far far away from their parents.

Nearly halfway through again and again, many things not making sense. In Book 1, we knew that Calax is 19, and in book 2, we find out that Addie is about to turn 18. This means they're one year apart. In this book, we finally find out how they first met, and they met when Addie was 15, which means Calax was 16. That makes three years that they've known each other, but in book 1 it sounded like they had known each other for a very long time. In this book, Addie says she met Calax "a year or two ago".

Addie broke her leg at the end of book 1 and in book 2 her father seems to think her inability to walk after the cast comes off is because of her stubbornness. Any sane person knows you need physical therapy after a cast is removed, to help restore flexibility and range of motion to the muscles. You also don't keep your cast on for only three weeks. Source: personal experience; I broke my leg two years ago.

Her parents still make no sense to me. If they are so controlling, why aren't they monitoring the use of her phone, and why don't they have a bodyguard on her to report back on all her movements and doings? She's able to visit her guys while her parents are away, how does that even make any sense when her parents are trying to separate her from them? Why do her parents want her back? It doesn't seem like they are getting her to do anything in particular, but when they blackmailed her into coming back, her father said, "If you don't want to help us..." -- help them do what? I don't see any mention of them making her do anything.

And out of the blue they threaten her with Nikolai. If Nikolai is such a credible threat, then she wouldn't have been acting out or sassing back or even hanging out with the guys. He's probably an even more effective threat to keep her in line than the prospect of abusing her further. But they never invoked his name in Book 1... and don't even get me started on the weirdness of the guys all hanging about the house in various different occupations on different days, and her parents never noticing. You'd think her mum would notice, since her mum keeps ogling them. What is that all about, some kind of magic spell to cause amnesia or cloud their features??? It's not even in the REALM of plausibility.

Also I want to point out that she said she doesn't want to be TSTL but she was absolutely and totally TSTL. Instead of staying safely in the car, she jumps out to try to "help" a young boy who is being attacked. She doesn't even know how to use her knife, she's useless in a fight. What could she actually do? Then, she has the chance to stab the attacker but she's too wimpy to do it because she's all "I can't murder somebody" and "maybe a cure will be discovered and this person could be saved" (obviously zero sense of self-preservation, what a total idiot) so she lets the thing go, then it attacks her and the young boy has to take her knife and do the grisly deed. I rolled my eyes SO HARD at this scene.

At least we finally find out what's causing people to morph into "Ragers" who attack others. But really, the amount of plot holes in this one is making me want to never read another Katie May again. I will update my review when I've finished this book later; right now it's two stars.

UPDATE: Finished the book.

So let's talk about broken arms that miraculously heal themselves within days without being set or cast. It's obvious that the author has never broken a limb and has never had anyone close to her break one, either; and also that she hasn't bothered to google for information on it. Ryder and Addie are held captive by a crazy chick. His arm is broken when they were kidnapped... and then later on in the same night it isn't, or at least he acts like he isn't in excruciating pain and incapable of using it. And another thing! He comes to see Addie when the crazy chick is in the bathroom and apologises to Addie, who is all tied up. Then he goes back to the other room to await the crazy chick. Couldn't he have just overpowered the crazy chick and then gotten them both out of there? Even if his arm was incapacitated, he's still much stronger and bigger than crazy chick.

No, it's Addie who gets the better of crazy chick, and then instead of grabbing Ryder and escaping the hell out of there (because crazy chick had sidekicks, even though they haven't seen the sidekicks yet), they sit on the floor and have a heart-to-heart. Trigger warning: I'm just screaming at both of them to GO! Because they're still in DANGER! After chatting, Ryder takes a nap, and then they even have time to doctor all their injuries before they start to move. I kept chanting, "Stupid, stupid, stupid," in my head. It's one of the worst things to ever experience in a story.

Let's also talk about crazy chick saying her sidekicks had wanted Addy and gave her a couple of hours with her before coming to get her. But obviously Addy had been held captive with crazy chick for the whole night, because the next morning the crazy chick brought her coffee and invited her to breakfast. Although I'm not pedantic about "a couple of hours" literally meaning "two hours", A WHOLE NIGHT is not "a couple of hours"! And why would any bad guys, who had the ability and strength to snatch two people stealthily from a house that was full of people, give in to a crazy chick and agree to let her have time with Addie if Addie was the one they really wanted? Surely Liz didn't have anything on them or anything to bargain with? Seems ridiculous that they'd give her that concession instead of just taking Addie if they wanted her.

AND WHY ARE WE ALL OF A SUDDEN IN CRAZY CHICK'S HEAD? I did not need to be in crazy chick's head. We should only have POV from the FMC and her harem! Wtf!

The use of crazy chick as an OW (other woman) was disappointing and unoriginal, plus overly dramatic. I can't figure out what's going on with Elena, who is friendly and helpful one minute but gives Addie weird unhappy looks the next. I'm also wondering if they are ever going to reach Atlanta at this rate.

Also, how can Addy not have scars on her breasts if her father bent her over the stove and forced her upper body over the flames? Where the heck would the burn scars be, then????

Addy finally admits she loves two of the guys and they have that talk about both of them becoming her boyfriend. There is kissing but nothing else. There are two more books to go and the relationships are progressing at a glacial pace. Tamson and Archer are still constantly blushing and Fallon is holding himself aloof. I feel like she's really only building romantic relationships with Calax, Declan, Ronan, and Ryder... the first two because she has history with them, and the last two because they're always joking with her and teasing her. I'm still wondering what the heck happened to Declan because as far as I know, vehicle accidents don't cause you to lose hearing and speech; you break bones, you get internal injuries, you have concussions, yes, but to lose hearing and speech seems rather odd.

Everyone is still referring to the thing that turns people into Ragers as a "virus", but Tommy said he saw "a worm" go into him mum before she turned. Neither he nor Addie seemingly has thought of mentioning this extremely pertinent information to the guys.

I feel like I'm watching a train wreck but I'm still going to read book 3 because I'm invested now.

Insane

I liked this sequel more than the first book, but it could still use some editing. Things get more insane when Addie and the guys end up on a sudden road trip as the world is going to Hell to rescue Addie's long lost brother. Along the way, a psycho bitch shows up as do some mercenary type guys with an interest in Addie. More of the guys are realizing their feelings and the harem begins to form. Elena even makes another appearance and she's growing on me. I'm actually looking forward to continuing this series, so despite my issues with the editing, I'm going to continue on.

Wow I think that was the most satisfying ending ever

Apocalyptic. Rh. 7 guys. Slowburn. Addie and the guys are off to Atlanta. With the Super storms still happening and Racers running about. Looooooove it. Want more.

There are times in your life when you need to read s but if darkness, but a dark tinged with humor and light. This book fits that bill, and then some. It’s sweet in a way that proclaims innocence, yet harsh in reality’s honesty. I enjoyed it, and enjoyed all the characters.

Pros:
- Some scenes are flat out funny.
- Right shade of dark.
- Addie is growing.
- Cliffhanger, but a stately satisfying ending.

Cons:
- Still unclear what’s really going on.
- Zombies? Are they zombies?
- Almost every one is bloody nuts.... but it’s funny.

Please explain to me how a man who is trained in self defense can be kidnapped and assaulted by a woman? I truly had a hard time swallowing it regardless of the implied threat she posed to our heroine. Why wouldn't Ryder have told the others of this situation? They are a team aren't they?

OTT (Over The Top), but...

This book is a sequel, however it basically lacked any direction. It seemed all over the place with the actions/events. I ended up with more and more questions than book one with hardly any answers except for more backstory into the guys (though the time jumps could have been smoother). 1) key characters just turn up in book 2. How is it they in all of book 1 there was absolutely NO mention of a BROTHER??? I mean if Addie cares so much about him that she would willingly back with her parents, shouldn't Nikolai (little bro) been partially mentioned? .
Sorry that really bugged me as that is how the book basically starts. 2) We hardly get any closer to discovering how the Ragers come to be and how the chaotic weather is related. 3) While I still love the guys, they seem all over the place in this book. Their emotions are tangible so I did like that, but some of Addie's jokes/serious monologues are just not bust-a-gut funny ALL the time. Let the guys chuckle a bit not ROTFL at everything. Anyway, back to this crazy plot... 4) there were little to no foreshadowing that Addie is attracting crazy stalkers. I reread parts of the book, and there may be something, but no clue if I'm right or just wishful thinking.

5) Liz. This entire scene was OTT as is every other "action" in this book. I mean everything is so left field. Yes Liz was hunted at, but barely a blurb in book 1. 6) Oh and if you keep insisting on any of the MCs getting dangerously hurt, please allow for realistic recovery time. Unless they are supernatural, there is no way that Addie should be walking after a month if her leg was almost amputated/crushed. There should not be a way that she hasn't had any issues after the Liz incident other than a minor emotional breakdown. I mean she passed out a bit, but that is it. 7) Her parents are just dumb. At least Addie admits that she is baffled how they didn't recognize any of the guys. They are rich...so no security mentioned at all? The guys just come in her window or she just leaves whenever? They show up at the beginning then just poof, no mention of them at all again.

I know not seems like I hated the book... that is really not the case. I was frustrated more than anything really. Katie May has a lot of potential. The world building and development are good, though she could use a better editor. Juggling 6-7 guys characters is no easy feat, yet she does a great job of creating distinct personalities. Unfortuantly it felt like a B-movie. I couldn't not read it even though I was like oh how eye roll worthy at points. Ugh it's so OTT, but It sucks you in (like a train wreak lol). I want to know what happens so that is a major plus. It's really a 2.5, but because I'm genuinely curious and like the guys I give it a 3/5.

I don't know quite yet if I like the first or second book more. This book (specifically the ending) just pulled at my heartstrings so much.

I don't think I've honestly felt so murderous about a book character in my life. I'm not a very violent person, but I will say that ending was very suitable, if anything else not even enough. I swear I can't even like begin, I could go on and on about what she deserved, but I don't think that would be very appropriate.

I will say that in this book, I feel that we saw A LOT less of some of the guys than some of the others. We really only saw Calax and Ryder. Obviously we saw all of the guys but it was mainly focused on those two.

We got some chapters in the other guy's opinions, but I will continue to say it. I don't like changing POV's! I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it honestly does!

I loved how this book was written as well. It kind of went from the present to sometimes little flashbacks to the past, or memories, and I absolutely loved it.

(I'm sorry if the review is random, I'm kind of just typing as I think of things...)

I absolutely love Tommy.

Ok so I'm kind of pressed... WE DIDN'T SEE ANY DECLAN THIS BOOK. WE GOT ONE POV CHAPTER AND THAT's IT.

So, don't be disappointed, but.... I don't know if I can read the next book... I KNOW, I KNOW..... *Cue audience booing* Trust me, I'm booing myself. I don't know why. I do really like this series, but I always have this problem. Do I just get bored and don't realize it? Maybe. Do I just have commitment issues, and can't stick with the whole series? Maybe. Do I just not want to have to deal with the feelings of finishing a series I like, and feeling that book withdrawal emptiness? Maybe. Do I wish to extend the happy feeling I get while reading? Maybe. Is it all of the above and more? Most likely.

I enjoyed the first book of this series, The Darkness we Crave, a lot more than this one. This one isn’t necessarily bad, but I feel like some things were rushed a bit whereas the first one took time to set things up and developed the characters and their relationships.

It’s hard to describe without giving spoilers, but a lot happens in this book and yet a lot doesn’t happen. Addie is forced to live with her parents again as she is protecting someone, although we don’t find out who until a couple chapters in. Then, the guys decide to help her find this person as the zombies are attacking the city he lives in. They never make it to this city though due to a series of unfortunate events, a run-in with a zombie horde and another dark situation involving one of the guys. I think this dark situation was what took away a bit from the overall series as it all seemed a bit rushed and fixed a bit too quickly even though it’s a pretty shitty few scenes.

The thing that annoyed me most about this book is that love is professed between two different guys by the end and they are completely accepting of the other and even mention that there may be more. This definitely seemed rushed as the first book basically nothing happens romantically between any of the characters, and suddenly everything moves forward with 2 guys, not just 1. It just seemed abrupt to go from a much slower pace to a lightening fast pace.

I’m still interested in this series as I like the personalities of the characters, but I’m hoping the next book is a bit more focused on deepening the relationships with conversations and a slow build rather than having crazy action scenes to move the plot along, not necessarily forward.

*****SPOILERS BELOW****

3.0 stars on this one, sorry
I’m really trying to like this book. I promise I am but inconsistencies and contridicrions make it so hard *sigh*. So I see now that the reason the therapist didn’t report the abuse of Adelaide is because her parents have them come to the house. So maybe just maybe they aren’t therapist at all? Her parents hate her so much they abuse her and let other people abuse her, but they let her see a therapist? Right, that’s something I can’t wrap my head around. Please tell me how she breaks her leg with the bone sticking out and two weeks later she miraculously heals? I see that a lot through the book, them being seriously hurt then all of sudden it’s scars. Is there some super speeding healing power I missed? We go back and forth about her being socially awkward and so she doesn’t know things, but then she does? She knows a lot but when it comes to the guys she’s like “huh”. Next, things popping up out of no where in the book with no mention or past clue as to why this person or things are happening! Her brother being conjured out of thin air? She loves him so much, but no mention of him at all? We have things being described then later it’s not how it seems? Liz sounded like a bitter ex and how Ryder dated her. When it wasn’t like that at all. She’s this horrible person, but we have no background on her at all. Then with how Adelaide is so important that she has people chasing after her. It’s just this mystery that’s going to pop out of no where. This book would be so much better if things where described better and things just didn’t randomly happen. It’s not the apocalypse per say but things should be a little harder for them but yet they have a supply fairy whenever they need something. Ok I think I’ve complained enough (for now).

Here I am again with another Katie May book! As promised, I'm making my way through her backlist slowly and steadily. Last week I read the first book in this series, not entirely sure what to expect of it, and I was pleasantly surprised. This week it was time for the second book in the series. I have to admit that the omnibus with all four books in it is a little heavy, but the books are quick reads so at least I don't have to hold it too long.

Plot-wise it's quite clear that this was one of May's first series. Apart from the main events, the virus and the disasters happening all over the world, nothing of the first book plays a part in the second book. Even the brother our heroine is looking for in this book wasn't mentioned in the first (which to me made sense, in a way). However, even though the overall plot is a little weak, I did enjoy the book from start to finish. And that's mostly because the book is so addictive.

May really focusses on emotions when writing her story. I almost get the feeling that the things happening aren't simply provoking the emotions, but that May has the things happening so she can show us the emotions of our characters. That does make this book dark, with loads of triggers and some very heavy scenes. Luckily I can handle quite a lot (I haven't really come across things I can't handle), but please be careful when starting this series.

Because of all the strong emotions, both from our heroine and our guys, it's easy to connect with the characters and to start caring about them. I have to admit that some boys still are a little vague for me, but a lot of them have come to life a lot better in this second book than in the first. And I just love the heroine's personality. Yes, it's a little childish at times, but it seems to be a coping mechanism, which makes it quite realistic.

I'm excited to read the next book in the series!

I started out this series with an open mind and lots of hope because someone on a Facebook group I'm in compared it to another series that I absolutely adore. Spoiler alert,it's nowhere near the same. At all. The only things it could ever have in common are that they are both RH Zombie Apocalypse stories. But back to this... the first book was ok,I could ignore most of the things that irked me just to see where the plot was going. I would have never guessed what a mish mash of plots it would become. Not only that, the FMC was just not endearing, at first yeah it was a bit funny that she speaks her thoughts out loud but after a while it just became an annoying trait that I had to wade through. You really have to suspend belief here because the type if injuries that are being inflicted upon this girl are major but she just carries on and continuously informs us Hao much pain she's used to and how she's been through worse,ok but like, no matter what type of pain threshold you're at a broken sticking out of your meat bone is no picnic and requires way more than 2 weeks to recover from sooo yeahhhh... the burns went from being third-degree to being forgotten by the next day?! I have way too many things that annoyed me than things that I actually like about these books. By the second book, I was skimming page after page of her mundane musings because they did nothing for the plot or to move it forward. The big bad wasn't big or bad, just your average psycho ex and riddle me this, how did those guys even get in contact with her?! How did they even find Addie, too, like what?! This just feels like the author had so many ideas and didn't want to let go of them even though they made no sense for the book she was already writing. I doubt I'll read the rest of the series,I think I've had enough. The annoying FMC, the continuity errors, the plot holes, I think I'm good.

So, this is the second book in the Together We Fall series. I binged it after reading the first book, and sort of binged a bunch of books by this author at once (that’s how impressed and hooked by her writing style I was).

Again, this book is dark like the first book, but in different ways. What’s more she tackles issues that don’t get talked about as much - abuse of men. It’s a bold move, and some people may not like it, but I commend her for it, especially for the way in which it’s written.

This book delves much more into the larger plot of what’s going on. We see much more of the book universe, and this book is definitely urban fantasy in my opinion; there’s a lot more going on here than just the main characters relationships. The relationships do develop, but this book is much more fast-paced. It doesn’t happen in the bubble of the resort, like much of the first book did. My only critique, really, is that it sometimes felt a little too fast-paced. Things that seemed like they might be a big deal from book 1 weren’t what I expected. That’s not to say they won’t be later, but it felt like they got almost forgotten about in this book. It’s a hard call between deciding whether the author is keeping the reader on his/her toes or whether it’s a plot hole, and I think only time will tell. Again, like with the first book, this book is a complete story within a much larger plot, which is still a little cloudy; it’s intriguing. I wouldn’t say there was a cliffhanger her, but, again, there are allusions and enough teasers to things that haven’t been explained that you WANT to know more. I’m definitely going to keep reading to find out what those things are, and I’m really looking forward to book 3.

Jenn's review says almost everything that I have to say. ESPECIALLY THE CONTINUITY OF DETAILS! There are so many contradictions.

We are introduced to a brother that she cares deeply for but was never introduced or even thought about in the first book and is honestly not really thought about in this book, just to become the device to move the plot along. And the parents are irrelevant.

Additionally, the POVs of a few of the guys all sounded the same with little details to differentiate but other than that they were all the same people. Considering this is the author's debut series, she should have made the harem 3 guys instead of 7 because she does not know how to handle 7 guys. I literally forgot some of them exist because they have very little page time. Their attraction/love for her makes no sense since there is little individual interactions for relationship building and we are just told that she knows how each of them are. Honestly, Addie was amusing at times but she's also annoying so I have no idea why each one likes her other than she's attractive. Fallon had even less interactions with her and yet he has a thing for her.

Cal and Addie's past on how they met and why he became her mortal nemesis was really disappointing.

The stupid ex girlfriend incident was so dumb and was only there to push Ryder and Addie together.

I'm honestly just reading to see how thing progress and wtf is happening to the world, but I started the third book and all of sudden they know what is happening to the world: global warming. wtf

Every dystopian novel needs a road trip

The second book in the series is darker than the first book. In this book the world is falling apart quickly with the natural disasters and the virus spreading. Shops are emptying, people are hiding at home instead of going to work and folks are starting barter instead of using money. As the world continues to fall apart Addie gets closer to her guys. Calax is getting firmly entrenched in her heart and we hear more about their history.

When Addie hears the news about Atlanta falling to pieces she panics. Her little brother has been sent away to live there and she needs to find out whether he is ok or not. The guys all decide to join her in her journey - and thus we have our mandatory road trip.

The thing about road trips in dystopian novels is that the main characters are always going to be going through new environments where different perils await, and this is what happens in this book. It’s through this stage of the book we see things really start to get dark. There are ragers, environmental perils and the basic bad element of humanity to deal with, not to mention all the shortages.

This second book is definitely more intriguing than the first and the deepening bonds between Addie and the guys helps with that. We don’t get to hear much more about the guys’ individual histories, but we do get to hear about their feelings.

I will definitely be continuing to read this series.

Incomplete series, although this book didn’t end with as dramatic a cliffhanger as some of the others.

This author’s books tend to be dark, although the LoL moments from the main character, speaking her inner monologue out loud, brings humor to the darkness.

Unfortunately the author is splitting her time by publishing three series at once, so if your don’t like cliffhangers and drawn out plots, I recommend waiting till the series is complete before reading.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This book was absolutely amazing. The characters are so funny and seriously sassy and totally kick ass! Adelaide and The guys including Tommy had me rolling with laughter! The emotional roller coaster is definitely one of the main factors that make this book so amazing. Usually authors have the first book amazing and then the second book kind of this continuation but Catie May had it both books outstandingly written and full of action and romance and they both were just amazing! I definitely hope that we’re going to get more people added to Adelaide’s Group. So if you want action, romance, hilarious moments, and an emotional read you definitely need to read this Siri’s because it’s that and so much more. Catie May you rock! Please continue making books like this because they are amazing and I will definitely check out some more of the books you write in the future or have written before. Thank you so much for writing this book because I was definitely in a funk and I really needed this hilarity to make me smile. PS, the guys are totally hot in this book and their differences are amazing so if you need some seriously hot moments and hot guys then read this.

I loved the first book, however this one was really disappointing, the naivness (?), inexistent action and lack of self-preservation of the FL were understandable in the first book, even in the beggining of the second, when she started to be saved all the time I really tried to not hate her, but it's becoming imposible, when is she gonna start to defend herself? I will give the author props since she alwys managed to balance with some stupid hero act, but is not working anymore. Is she actually smart? For someone that graduated at 13 and already had gone throught college how can she be so clulles? And I'm not talking about her naivness about relationships (even tho these are getting tiring), shouldn't she be able to do...something? Besides beeing a victm and having to be saved all the time, can she do anything? The damsel in distress act was what made me blow up is always the same thing: panic, freze, get saved, a bad thing happen, panic, freeze, get saved, I'm getting tired isn't time to grow a backbone? I'm officialy starting to hate her, I will give the next book a chance since I really liked the story, but if she does not grow some ovaries I'm sure I will be dropping.

Well I'm still loving Addie and her guys and the new addition of Tommy who is the cutest 13 year old. I still like the progression of the apocalypse that's happening, it's still at the beginning and your still confused about what's happening but the fear and desperation is kicking in so people are starting to go into survival mood, I love every second of it. I also like the relationship progression between Addie and the guys it's happening at the perfect pace, not to fast and not to slow either. I totally love the new characters that we meet in this book namely Tommy, Sam and Lily they each add something new and give Addie the chance to make new friends, I also think that Tommy will be good to have with them when they get to Nik. I still wanna know exactly what the guys do, even though I do have somewhat an idea I really wanna know for sure what they're and their school is about. Last thing that I really liked was how Addie wasn't around her parents for the majority of this book, which was great since they are not good people.

The book still has a lot of editing needed.

It continues where we leave off but there’s a lot of inconsistencies and a lot of questions left unanswered. As soon as we get close to learning something the story ends.

I have no idea how this last scene in the book had anything to do with the overall plot of the series. I have no idea how to bridge connections to the immense abuse Addie has gone through and continues to go through and this apocalypse scenario. I just don’t get it.

I also don’t get how they left to go to Atlanta but ended up where Elena lives. With everyone abandoning homes and such, how in the world was she there? Plus she was at the resort when it had issues.

Secondly how can someone be following Addie and the guys around? It just logically doesn’t make sense especially with the world sort of ending.

And where have her parents been? Who is after her? I don’t get it and yet I’ll probably stupidly continue with the series.

I do not think I will finish the series. I appreciated the added POVs in this book. I have a few pet peeves when it comes to books and this one just had too many. I don't like it when multiple characters have the same ticks, like pinching the bridge of their nose, too often in a book. I also don't like it when people act crazy with laughter over things that aren't that funny. Maybe I am just getting old, but I don't know anyone who rolls on the floor with laughter as often as these guys do. Just too many things that didn't seem believable. She has such good insight at some emotional things but is oblivious to others in an attempt to appear innocent or cute. It's too played out. Also, there was very limited growth in any of the characters. Although the reasoning for the slow-burn in this one made sense and I could appreciate it. How hypersexual all the guys were to other women and in conversations with the MC just made me frustrated at the progress.
