I was really eager to read the stories in this anthology. It had such an intriguing theme and I could not wait to see the story that each author would come up with.
Karma Comes in all Forms - Schoen always writes such vivid characters and this story was no different. I felt as if I were there on the college campus alongside Kali. When her whirlwind of roommate drama took off, I was along for the ride and happy to see her fighting back. This was a fun story, but also had an important lesson for the reader.
You Don't Say - Wow. This story started out entertaining, but turned to hot and incredibly intense rather quickly. It was much more than I was expecting. It was a terrific and unique addition to this anthology.
Free Trial - The beginning of this story really piqued my interest and hooked me into wanting to know more. Things escalated quickly and I was dying to know what would happen next. This was an extraordinary page-turner and a stellar addition to this anthology.
Dolly's Tuesday Rant - This story began with a shocking betrayal and a plan to stay ahead of the competition. But once I learned more about that competition, the plot thickened even more and I was eager to see them come head to head. When they did, Dolly took things to a whole new level and I felt the initial support I had for her waning because of her actions. Heath was a trooper though and I really wanted to see how things would conclude.
Keeping Daisy - This story had an ominous tweet and a very dark beginning. I was hooked as Daisy struggled with her new reality. I enjoyed this story and thought it had a great ending as well.
The Blues - This was such a real story, filled with pain and emotion. McMillan really did a fabulous job of showing the darkness that is post-partum depression. This was a great end to an already awesome anthology and showed what could really be happening sometimes behind those vague social media posts. Keep your eye on this new author. All the stories that I've read from her so far have been great. She's a good fit for Crazy Ink.
With a title like Sub Tweet I was excited to see what this was going to be about. Everyone knows I'm the master of subtweeting people (not really, I lack a whole bunch of subtlety, lbr).
I was blown away by the sheer talents of the authors in this anthology. I absolutely adored every second of this book. I ended up reading it in just a single day, and while I did skip one or two stories (because of triggering subject matter - sexual assault, kidnapping) I'm happy I read it.
It was more than just an anthology about subtweets, it was a whole commentary on technology and how we as humans have come to rely on it so much. The authors used subtweets or vague books to start off their stories and launched into an entire world of what said tweet or Facebook post could mean.
It gives life to the reality behind posting these types of things about people and makes you think. There are people you're hurting with these things you say, but the person you're hurting the most is yourself. This anthology does a good job of making sure people know that it is entirely unfair to say these types of things because all it's going to do is come back on you.
