Contemporary Erotic Western Romance with Sexy Alpha Cowboy
Rem Bradley has loved Liv Carter for far too long. After his father’s sudden death, Rem comes home for good—ready to reclaim his family’s ranch and his woman. Problem is, the spitfire he finds brawling in the roughest bar in town is not the girl he left behind.
Liv recognizes trouble when she sees it, but she’d be a fool to resist Rem’s seductive demands. Starting in the barn where they’d left off years ago, they use every available body part, plus a toy or two, to bring each other maximum pleasure.
To make up for past mistakes, however, Rem is going to have to do a hell of a lot more than just satisfy her body—but that’s a damn good start.

YEEHAW! This quickie was very good! The story was hot but it wasn't all about sex, things weren't rushed - the story took place over 2 months, which is unusual considering it's a quickie -, Rem and Liv were very likable - I loved her sense of humor! - and the HEA was completely believable. The only thing that bothered me was Rem's reason for staying away from Liv for so long: it didn't make sense to me. Anyway, that didn't prevent me from enjoying this read. :)
Note: This story contains some kinky love scenes, backdoor play (with fingers, toys and "the real thing"), spanking and light bondage. This could have scared the crap out of me, but I was OK with it because Rem was always gentle and attentive to Liv's pleasure.
For a short story it was quite entertaining. As usual with Mari Carr's stories, the hero and heroine have known each other for a long time and it's only later on they'll act out/confess their desires for each other.
Rem and Liv practically grew up together but then he had to go the Marines and Liv waited for him for 10 years. That's a really long time and there're no guarantees, but he came back and claimed what he wanted all those years ago.
I liked Liv a lot, with her sass and foul mouth, she knew how to take care of the ranch and herself, but held herself back to save her heart from being broken again. This is quite normal, Rem wants her for good but shows her in the best way he knows how.
There's a moderate amount of sex and reminiscing, and something to appease Rem - the truth that his father loved him, though he didn't hear his father say it. One couldn't expect any character development or conflict here, but it's a good read just to pass the time.
I wanted to like this short story. I really did. But the truth is, I sort of hated it. The "hero" was a complete asshole of caveman proportions. I get that he was into spanking and such. But his spankings came across like he was actually punishing the "heroine", rather than just spanking her for some sexy bedroom fun. I don't mind the men in my books being dominate. I'll admit, it's kind of hot. And authors that write about these types of men do walk that fine line of dominate sexy male versus caveman douchebag asshole. Our hero, Rem, came across as the 2nd type. As a result of the caveman hero, I didn't even find the sex hot.
I'm disappointed. This was the first Mari Carr book that I didn't love. Boo-hiss-grrr. So mad.
They lost a decade of time because of his forbidden love of his foster sister when all they had to do was wait a year and they could have been together . His dad didn't want them together but apparently now that he's been dead for 6 months it's okay for them to hook up again. this story makes no sense whatsoever. They wasted a decade of their life because his father didn't want him with the girl and then he comes back into her life and acts like he can just make her do what he wants not even worried about the fact he's been gone a decade maybe she f***** around maybe she had a boyfriend maybe she got married it's ridiculous. Why would she wait around on some idiot who kept her away from him anytime he came to visit there's no way in today's world that that would have happened she would have gone on with her life found her another man cuz he obviously wasn't worth it.
Rem has been gone for ten long yrs, only back home to take over the ranch since his dad passed away. Oh, and to claim the girl he could never get out of his head! Liv has been working the ranch with Joe since she was just thirteen, losing him was devasting. Losing Rem would be even worse. She waited ten yrs for his return, but can she really trust that he is back for good? This is definitely a NSFW steamy kindle melting story, with a dominant cowboy and a fiesty cowgirl. Check it out today.
i knew this was a novella, but I was disappointed it ended at 58%. Mari Carr is a master at filling out characterization even in novellas, but this one left me unsatisfied.
This was a great story. It was short but it wasn't bad because we're coming in to a story of 2 people with history. Rem has been away from the ranch for a long time. He comes home after his father's death determined to win back Liv (Olivia), the girl he always wanted.
Liv loved Rem for years and when he left she was never interested in anyone else. When Rem finally comes back she doesn't know how to trust him with her heart again. However she is perfectly willing to finally have the chance to burn up the sheets with him. Liv is the "Spitfire" (Rem's nickname for her) because she's so spunky and adventurous. I loved the interactions and dialog between Liv and Rem.
One of my fave parts:
“Olivia?” he said, running his hand along her side, down to her waist.
“Ssh,” she said. “Olivia Carter is officially dead. Killed by a gang of ruthless orgasms. The vicious fuckers attacked her from behind.”
I loved this story and it's ended up on my faves list cause I'll definitely be rereading it. I'd recommend it. :D
I just have to say it... I love Mari Carr books. Even in a Quickie she gives me everything I need. Full story, great characters and smokin' hot lovin'.
