Ooh, if you are looking for Christmas romance, you don't want to miss this collection! All four of these novellas are utterly charming. I loved how in each one of them, the romance came as a surprise and changed the feeling of melancholy to a feeling of joy and happiness. It was so satisfying! What a great bunch of authors!

The Christmas/holiday/winter spirit is strong in these stories. There is ice skating, caroling, sledding, yule logs, mistletoe, dancing, Christmas decorating and even plum pudding! This book will definitely get you feeling the holiday spirit and aren't holiday romances just extra magical? I think so.

Sometimes I wish for more with collections because I get swept away by a story and it's just not long enough. However, each story in this set is perfect because each book delivers a sweet, tender morsel of romance and goodness, but they're not overwhelming long, which is great since the holidays are a busy time of the year. They're perfect for the season and will get you in the mood for Christmas. And an added bonus--they're all equally good! I can't choose a favorite because they're all on par with each other, each delivering a truly charming tale.

There is a slight feeling of melancholy for many of these characters, as they are all going through something difficult. But the magic of Christmas and love brightens up their lives and gives each story such a happy feeling. If you love Christmas and Regency, you're sure to love this one!

This is a lovely collection of holiday Regency novellas! It definitely put me in the holiday spirit, and it was fascinating to learn some of the traditions of the era for celebrating Christmas. There's something special and even magical about the Christmas season and I think it enhances the connections and emotions of the characters. The romance in each story is sweet and even though the couples had various obstacles to overcome (some with excessive angst), the happy endings left me with a smile on my face. I'm a fan of Jennifer Moore and Chalon Linton, and was excited to read two new-to-me authors. I'm looking forward to reading more of their other books.

I meant to write my review right after listening to this book. A goodreads friend told me that she thought I would really enjoy this one. When I saw it was available as an audiobook through a site I have a subscription for, I knew I couldn't wait. I instantly downloaded it and was hooked. My daughters and I listened and giggled, sighed, cheered and were sad when each story came to an end.

I absolutely adored all the stories and would readily give them all 5 stars individually!

I know Christmas is past. But if you're looking for sweet Regency stories, great heroines and heroes, stories of courting, friendship and love, family, heartache, healing, love, gentleman, Christmas, love and second chances...this is the anthology for you.

The great thing is that each story is short enough to enjoy in a sitting. Or you could just devour them all in one sitting. However you like. I didn't want them to end. I wanted more and could happily have had the stories be longer. But that being said, this is a favorite book of mine now!

Sorry there are no individual book reviews. I'm reviewing this later that I am not going back and looking at little details. But know that I adored it and rated it high because it deserved 5 stars for each story!

Content: Clean.

I listened through Deseret Bookshelf.

Happy Reading!!!

I loved last year's book Christmas Grace and really looked forward to another collection of Christmas stories.

LOVE AND JOY COME TO YOU by Jennifer Moore--Lord Covington is looking forward to a quiet holiday with his mother when he finds out that she's invited a family of four orphaned children and their Aunt to spend Christmas at Firwood Hall. At first he's not at all happy with the idea but then he asks Cassie (the oldest) to work with him so they can plan Christmas for both their families.

Such a sweet story of Lord Covington and Cassie making Christmas happy for her three younger siblings and his mother who still grieved for her husband even after seven years. I loved reading about them finding a tree and chopping a tree for the yule log and the other activities.

A CHRISTMAS COURTING by Chalon Linton--Keturah Hensley and her family will have to stay in London this Christmas and she's not happy to be missing her best friend, Christopher Shepherd. When she finds out he's also in London and invited for Christmas she's elated until she finds out he's in Town to court a young lady, but no one knows who it is. Keturah has been friends with Christopher since she was very young and she's been in love with him for a long time, but she's afraid she's lost him too this young woman he's in Town to court.

I love childhood/long-time friends who fall in love stories. This one has a little bit of a twist (for lack of a better word) to it.

MISTLETOE MEMORIES by Jen Geigle Johnson--Patrick, Duke of Montrose was all set to marry Lady Alice Tarrington and their parents thought it best that they wait two years before doing so. Before he comes back to England he finds out that Alice is going to marry someone else. Thinking that Alice has married, Patrick sets out to find a wife.

Another friends who marry story but not the usual-friends-who-finally-realize-they-love-each-other trope. Patrick and Alice planned to marry each other but things happened that kept them apart and when they eventually met up again neither one of them knew the entire story of what had happened to the other.

SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS by Heidi Kimball--Francie and Gerard have been friends since they were children. When Gerard proposes to Francie she turns him down because "she'd never felt anything beyond a sisterly affection for him." Since then, they haven't really been friends until his mother has a houseparty. Francie is invited to certain activities of the houseparty and while watching Gerard's interactions with some of the guests, Francie unexpectedly discovers feelings for Gerard that are more than "sister affection".

While this is yet another long-time friends turned to love story, it's different than the other two because one of the friends doesn't realize they're in love until much later. I liked that it was Gerard who knew he loved Francie first. Lots of times it's the girl who's in love with the guy, and he's the one who doesn't have a clue.

All of these are sweet Christmas love stories. I love collections because I can read one story at a time if I only have a small amount of time to read and it enables me to try works by new authors. I already love Jennifer Moore and Jen Geigle Johnson and I'm becoming more familiar with Chalon Linton's books, but Heidi Kimball is brand new to me.

I offered to review this book for Netgalley but have my own personal copy.

I like stories around Christmas. I like getting excited for the season. I like reading short stories only around Christmas! And these four stories certainly got me excited for the season. Especially for snow (of which is a rarity since we moved to South Carolina).

I'm not so sure I like how Christopher started his courting to the love sick Keturah! Just sayin.... Good thing she is a kind and forgiving person. Now what he did, you will have to read for yourself.

And prepare to shed a few tears in the Love and Joy Come to You story! I loved the siblings names!

I don't like stories of jealousy. It is such an ugly emotion but sometimes it pushes us forward too!

IF you like short stories, competition, ice skating, snow, Christmas, wassailing, grief, joy, love, chemistry (as in chemical compounds), jealousy, games in love, coming to someone's rescue then this might be for you.

Christmas can be a magical time of the year. Homes are decorated, families gather, gifts are given. The novella characters in this book for one reason or another are not anticipating a "Happy Christmas."

The novella's are short and sweet. It seems rushed to have a courtship happen over a short time span, but in most of the stories, the characters knew each other before the opening of the book. It is a continuation of a relationship. The romance didn't feel rushed to me, but part of a natural progression.

I really enjoyed every single story. They are all well done.

This is a collection of four sweet romance Regency Christmas novellas by collected authors. As is usual when I review collections, I’ll give brief impressions and star rating for each of the books before giving an average overall rating for the collection as a whole.

Love And Joy Come To You by Jennifer Moore
Christmas can be a difficult time of year for those who’ve lost loved ones. So when Lord Covington arrives home anticipating a quiet holiday with his mother, he’s not best pleased to discover his home has been invaded by three young children. On meeting their older sister Cassie, however, he discovers they are spending their first Christmas after the loss of their parents, and finds it in himself to open his home to the children - and his heart to Cassie.
This is very sweet, and Covington and Cassie did seem very well-suited to each other. Both thinking of others’ happiness before their own, they reminded me rather of Jane Bennet and Mr Bingley. Five stars for a charming romance.

A Christmas Courting by Chalon Linton
Keturah has been in love with family friend Christopher her whole life. Hearing that he is spending Christmas in London to court a lady devastates her… but then Christopher seems to be spending all his time at her house!
Keturah is very naive and honestly I had the feeling everyone in the story was laughing behind her back, which was rather cruel considering how hurt she was feeling. Three stars.

Mistletoe Memories by Jen Geigle Johnson
Compromised by an unscrupulous fortune hunter, Lady Alice's reputation is smashed to pieces. Her childhood love Patrick's return from India is months too late.
I felt so sorry for Alice and so angry with Patrick, who acted like a complete judgemental a**. I wanted her to marry someone who didn't care about her past, not have Patrick discover her innocence so he could magnanimously decide she was good enough for him after all.
This one hit too many of my hot trigger buttons. Two stars.

Second-Chance Christmas by Heidi Kimball
Taken by surprise when her lifelong best friends confesses his love and proposes, Frances declined. Now Gerard is back and possibly courting another, Frances must examine her true feelings.
Friends to lovers isn't a favorite trope of mine by any means because so often one party seems to be quilted into the relationship, but this is a really rather good take on it, with Frances just naive and astounded by Gerard's declaration. Enjoyable and well written, I'll give this story five stars.

As a collection overall, what stood out was the extreme youth and naivety of the heroines. Sweet and clean romance shouldn't necessarily mean naivety and I'd have liked to see at least one older heroine finding love here. Though there were two stories here I enjoyed, both the other two hit hot buttons and annoyed me. Overall, I'd give this three stars.

A CHRISTMAS COURTING is a collection of charming stories full of family, romance, and holiday traditions all set in historical England around Christmastime. The characters were all quite likable and the romances sweet. For sweet romance novella collection fans, this is definitely one to add to your collection!

LOVE AND JOY COME TO YOU by Jennifer Moore: This was probably my favorite story from the collection. I loved how the characters surprised and challenged each other. I also loved the way the children in this story were portrayed and the part they played. The meddling ladies were fun as well. However, my favorite parts were between the main characters and the sweet romance that develops. A story that is definitely worth a re-read.

A CHRISTMAS COURTING by Chalon Linton: This was super cute! The heroine and her sister are the bubbly, dramatic type, but genuine. Reminded me a little of Austen's Emma with Keturah's back and forth emotions. An enjoyable read.

MISTLETOE MEMORIES by Jen Geigle Johnson: This story was one in the collection that I felt had more of an emotional pull. I appreciated that the author let her characters deal with some mistakes and repercussions that felt authentic to the time, but also work through them as they fought for their happily-ever-after. I could see where this could have been a full-length novel on its own with more development, but enjoyed this in novella form as well.

SECOND-CHANCE CHRISTMAS by Heidi Kimball: I love friends-to-love stories and this one was a fabulous example of that! I loved the camaraderie and the competition between these two characters. I enjoyed their history and how that comes to play in their relationship changing. I also liked how the heroine comes to realize her feelings and the way the hero dashes off to find her. Loved this one!

In the end, was it what I wished for? I thoroughly enjoyed this collection! It's perfect for the Christmas season, or any time you're looking for romance with a little mistletoe magic. Readers will love the characters and stories and enjoy the contented feeling at the end. It left me with feelings of happiness and warmth, and a smile.

I love collections like these! Each of the stories is quick and easy to read. And each of these happen to have a Christmas theme. This whole book put me in the mood for the Christmas season!

Love and Joy Come to You by Jennifer Moore is the first story in this book. I loved this one! Lord Covington is a great character, but Cassie’s siblings really kind of stole the story in this one. I loved how they were always there, and always just a bit quirky. And even better, Lord Covington, Graham, learns their quirks and by the end of the story, he’s watching out for each of them.

Cassie was a great character too. I can’t imagine being the main care giver for my 3 younger siblings. But that’s what Cassie had to do the year before when her parents were both killed. She didn’t even get her season. So sad. I loved the way this one turned out!

A Christmas Courting by Chalon Linton is next. I loved Keturah in this one. She’s not sure about having Christmas in London, until she realizes that Christopher will be there also. Keturah has been in love with him forever. But this year, he’s planning to get engaged…and he wants her opinion on the best way to do things. She’s uncertain how to make him look her way.

I loved the way this story went. The reader sees things only from Keturah’s point of view, making everything Christopher does a surprise for the reader as well. I loved this one!

Next up is Mistletoe Memories by Jen Giegle Johnson. There are so many great things about this one! I loved the characters, the plot, and the huge misunderstandings on both sides. You see things from both Patrick’s and Alice’s point of view in this one. That’s a good thing, otherwise the reader would have no idea what was happening.

I loved Patrick. He’s returned to London from the Continent. When he left, he felt his whole life plan was set. But now that he’s back, everything he ever thought has been turned upside down. all because Alice married another.

Alice on the other hand, never got married. And she’s not very happy that Patrick didn’t come for her. I loved the way that the author of this one hid a lot of what really happened, even from the reader until near the end. That makes the whole story more fun!

Last, but not least, is Second Chance Christmas by Heidi Kimball. She’s a new author and I really liked her debut story in this one. Can’t wait for her first novel next year!

This one’s about Francie and Gerard. Gerard proposed to Francie four months before the story opens. She turned him down. He left, but now he’s back. But he didn’t come back alone. And that makes Francie realize that she really does care for him.

I loved the way Francie and Gerard are so competitive with the other. But that part does cause complications. Gerard is always saving Francie from something. The two really do complement each other so well.

I loved each and every one of these stories!

It is rare that I read an anthology where there are not one or two of the collection that aren’t quite on par with the rest. I was pleasantly surprised at this group of stories. They made me laugh, cry, and be giddy with the excitement of love. Add Christmas into the mix and I’m a goner. Really really loved this book and I’ve already recommended it to friends. It is well worth the read.

I only read the first two stories in this compilation before the Christmas season ended and I was no longer interested in holiday romances. I will return to the last two next Christmas!

* Love and Joy Come to You ~ This was a well written and sweet story, and I liked all the characters—especially the children—but there was such a somber undertone dealing with healing from grief that both added depth to the story and detracted from the Christmas magic woven throughout. In addition, the romance developed way too quickly for me, so it was hard to find it believable, even though Graham and Cassie were still quite cute together. Even though it’s currently my least favorite in this compilation, overall I still quite enjoyed it.

* A Christmas Courting ~ This was an adorable friends-to-lovers romance! I immediately guessed the fun twist, but still had a delightful time watching Keturah and Christopher’s deepening relationship as well as their interactions during the courtship game. It was such a fun concept that I wish the courtship advice had gone on longer. But for a short novella, it was lovely.

The reviews for Mistletoe Memories and Second-Chance Christmas will come next Christmas when I revisit this collection.

The problem with collections of novellas is that you have to rate them together. To be truthful, I enjoyed a couple of the stories in here and rolled my eyes at the others. While a couple were fun, romantic, and lighthearted, and I really enjoyed them, the others came across as stilted, and kind of...trying too hard.

The first story in this booked deserved 4 stars but the others... not so much. They were way too sappy and lacked a depth. I first thought that maybe the lack of depth was because the stories were so short but I just think they were totally cheesy and I did not like some of the characters. The conflict in all centered around miscommunication and nothing else. I don’t like that kind of conflict as it can so easily be resolved. A little miscommunication along with other conflict can be fine but all by itself is was just silly. I recommend you read the first story and they stop, or be prepared for what you will get.

I really enjoyed this collection of Christmas stories. I have read things from all but one of the authors and found that these stories we equal to their other books. Each couple was fun to follow through their journey. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything, although it's always nice to have more with characters you enjoy being with. I loved how some of the others referenced characters from other novels. It felt like an addition to that particular novel. It was a delightful addition to Christmas love stories and a great way to begin the crazy holiday season. I would highly recommend it.

I don't have the best of luck with novella collections. They always start with a phenomenal 5 star story, then it gets worse and worse until you're clawing through to the end. Like Saturday Night Live skits, if you know what I mean. I am pleased as punch to say this was not the case. This was an all-around solid collection of heart-warming Christmas regency romances.

Love and Joy Come to You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really, really liked this one. A typical regency romance where they meet, he likes the way she walks or something weird, and they're getting married within a week. I saw it all coming from a mile away and still adored every second. This one was dual POV and it was well done.

A Christmas Courting ⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5
My least favourite story, I think. It was one of those where you just want to shake the girl until her head rattles because it's so unbelievably obvious what is going down. I also struggled with the name Keturah for the main character. It is a biblical name, but it does not evoke the right image for this woman.

Mistletoe Memories ⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5
While I did enjoy the way this one unfolded, I did struggle a little bit with really rooting for the couple. He says he loves her so much, she's the only girl for him, but then some half-backed story reaches him of her fall from grace and, "Welp, guess that's it, Alice. See you never." Until, wait, it was all a misunderstanding because none of us talked.

Second-Chance Christmas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My favourite hands down. It's the kind of story I wish was drawn out into a full book. I very much adore the trope of best friends for over a decade before someone reveals their feelings and things get awkward until the other one figures themselves out. When it's done well, of course, and this absolutely was. The characters felt the most real in this one too, with proper chemistry.

Also, sidenote, I feel like it should be a drinking game where you take a shot every time Yule log, wassail and hessians were mentioned. Then you'll really be in the holiday spirit.

Overall, I grant this collection of Christmas festivity  out of five stars! And good lord am I ready for it to be December.

Second-Chance Christmas by Heidi Kimball
My last Kimball book! I was on a quest of sorts to read all her books, she has quickly become a favorite regency author for me. I thought this was a sweet, quick read. Friends-to-lovers type story where once the heroine feels she's lost the hero she realizes her real feelings. Not a favorite trope for me, but still a cute story.

“Love and Joy Come to You” - Jennifer Moore

Graham Montagu, Lord Covington, is resting in his home, Finwood Hall, as he recalls the months he spent at the home of his cousins, the Buxtons, and sifting through their debts. Now, he is looking forward to spending Christmas with his mother and hoping she will find peace from missing her family members. His mother finds Christmas difficult since the loss of her husband and daughter. When he takes notice of someone else in the room, he meets Andromedia (Annie) Serafina Weatherby, an unknown child in his library. Then, her twin brothers, Percival (Percy) and Linus enter the room. Lastly, Cassie, their older sister enters the room. Graham is speechless at her beauty. He learns that his mother has invited them to spend Christmas there. The family had lost their parents and were there with their Aunt Judith, all invited by Graham’s mother. Graham and Cassie agree to have a good Christmas to cheer her siblings and his mother. Soon, the twins enjoy being with Graham and Annie does as well, because he challenges her scientific intelligence. As Cassie and Graham get to know one another more, they find they are drawn together. Could this Christmas have a very happy ending for all of them?

A clever, sweet, little Christmas story to tug at readers’ heartstrings.

“A Christmas Courting” - Chalon Linton

London - December 1814

Keturah Hensley, her mother, Irene, and her sister, Juliet, are thinking of Christmas and lamenting the cold weather. Irene mentions that Christopher Shepherd will be with them for Christmas which gladness Keturah’s heart. That is, until her mother says he has his heart set on a young lady in London. This news has truly piqued her interest because she has always cared for him. As they see one another during the holiday season, Christopher continues to seek Kenturah’s advice about the woman he is seeking to marry. While she is pleased that he asks for her opinion, it still breaks her heart. Will she be able to handle it if Christopher announces which woman he wants to marry?

An OK story but one that didn’t hold my interest.

“Mistletoe Memories” - Jen Geigle Johnson

It seems that Lady Alice Tarrington has been trained all her life to make her debut. It has also been thought that she would marry her childhood friend, Patrick, the Duke of Montrose. Patrick is back in London and after casually mentioning to his mother that he would like to be wed by Christmas, the woman has invited her friends to visit to discuss possible candidates for him. At one time when he was working on his plantation in India, he thought he and Alice would wed some day, but he mistakenly heard she was married which broke his heart. However, it turns out she had been left at the altar. Is there a way for forgiveness to intervene as the two of them find one another again?

This story was so confusing and I found myself rereading parts to try and figure out what was going on. No. Not for me.

“Second Chance Christmas” - Heidi Kimball

Frances Lockhart is awaiting a visit from her friend, Maria Turner, who has news to share. Gerard Beaumont is back in town and at her front door. Some months back, Frances had turned down a proposal from Gerard. However, today he is issuing an invitation from his mother to attend the Beaumont Christmas Ball at Hastings Manor. Maria’s younger brother, Colin, is sick with pneumonia so Frances and Gerard brought the boy some mistletoe with a tall tale of how they found it. When after some time together with the usual cold weather entertainments they enjoy, Frances realizes she truly is in love with Gerard. Is it too late to win back his love?

Another simple, sweet Christmas romance.

This was the perfect week to read this new book, A Christmas Courting:A Regency Christmas Collection. Things have been so busy that it was nice to pick the book up and read one of the novella's during my lunch time of 35 minutes. It also was wonderful to read another Christmas story in October. It's making me so excited for Christmas. All of these stories have great characters with some problems along the way, but they all end with a sweet, romantic twist. This clean collection can be read in one sitting, but it will also be great to save this book to read slowly throughout the busy month of December. If you love reading a Christmas Romance, you'll love this book where you'll get four wonderful stories for the price of one.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my review.

This collection of stories was so incredibly sweet and romantic. There was so much joy and happiness and so much holiday spirit! I mean, there was snow and sledding and ice skating and Christmas meals and parties . . . it was fantastic. You would think that the romance would feel a little rushed since all of them were just novellas. But in all but one of the stories, the people knew each other before the holiday and the courtship. The romance in the first story did feel a tad rushed since their feelings came on rather quickly and they were basically strangers. But I still loved it. I loved every single novella and relationship. They were all just so sweet. I loved them. If you are looking for stories with romance, friendship and best of all, holiday spirit, then this is the book for you!

One thing I like about these short stories is that if I don't like them, then at least they are short. I really liked the first story, the 2nd story I didn't like the guys methods of wooing, it felt deceitful but some might find it romantic... the 3rd story was ok... the 4th story about drove me nutty. I can't stand stories where the girl rejects a guy and then as soon as the guy shows interest in someone else then all of the sudden they decide they like him afterall... not my kind of book... I guess things I did like about them... I didn't have a lot of audio book time and they were nice to listen to as I had time, without having to focus too much. I also like how swift the romances develop, they don't hem and haw for a full novel.

Each Novella (short story) was as good as the last and ended with a happy sigh from me at the end of each one. I was only familiar with one of the authors (Jennifer Moore). I really enjoyed each Christmas story based in the regency time period and they were all well written. I loved the holiday stories, characters, and each individual story line. They were long enough to develop the characters and have a good story plot.

I wish I could tell you I had a favorite, but I enjoyed all 4 historical romance stories immensely and equally. If you love happy ending, Christmas Regency Romance stories; you will love this collection!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

I have a love hate relationship when it comes to novellas—usually I’m left wanting more. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this compilation though. Each story was utterly delightful. And to top it all off, I was introduced to a new author (Heidi Kimball) whose future stories I’m looking forward to with great anticipation! All in, a most enjoyable, festive read.
