From the author of bestselling novels 5 YEARS LATER & LET YOU GO comes the heart wrenching, bestselling story about a couple who lost the unthinkable... and then lost each other. With a chance encounter, the spark they once lost is still there... but what if it's too late for them?
He was the one I loved. I was the one who walked away. We both know why. I was never supposed to see him again.
*
What I have now looks perfect on the outside. The car. The career. The house. The neighbor-slash-best-friend. The handsome man holding my hand. We can talk about everything. Except the past. That's good enough to get by.

When Brice comes crashing back into my life, it's not fate, it's torture. My quiet, simple, perfect life is exposed, just like my still-healing heart. I don't intend to hurt anyone. But with two hearts demanding my love, I have no choice.
I liked that almost all the readers loved this story. I was expecting the same feeling for myself. Unfortunately I found the pace flowed somehow slow and would have preferred a more tight structure of the plot. Brice’s emails brought me to my knees, I was heavy hearted with Kinsley’s emotional conflict and had mixed feelings regarding Ben.
“Breathes in” I can say this is a “fantastic romance,” “second chance”, contemporary romance. It is so much more. The author has some serious hot writing skills. ;) I was drawn in from start to finish. The words and grammar are smexy! Seriously, I am an instant fan of Mr. Jaxson. Excellent storyline. A must read!
Brice and Kinsley broke my heart and I've got to admit that even by the end of Somebody Else, my heart still hasn't healed.
I don't want to spoil anything, so just let me say that, as per usual with Jaxson's writing, Somebody Else is heartbreakingly sad, poignant and beautiful, and Jaxson's obviously sensitive soul shines through every single word of Brice and Kinsley's story. They had a beautiful life together until tragedy tore it apart, tore them apart. Now years later, they have a chance to put things right, to have the future they always dreamed of. But there are other people in their lives that make that future impossible. Will they end up together? Or will the others in their lives have their way? Have their say?
I'm waiting, VERY IMPATIENTLY, for the conclusion to this duet. It really cannot come soon enough. I know Jaxson has an incredibly packed schedule, but honestly, if he could just release the conclusion right now, I would be incredibly happy. I need to know if my heart's gonna be healed or if it's gonna stay broken into the million pieces it's in right now!
First and foremost the story was heartbreaking. The story is a duet and so this is not a finished story. A woman who is in love with two men who both love her. Brice/Kinsley love story started years prior to the Kinsley/Ben story. For Kinsley and Ben when they started it was with an unsaid we don't talk about the past understanding. Kinsley's past was her love for Brice and being young they believed that their life was love happily ever after, but then a tragedy happened. Kinsley packed up and left Brice and no closure, no ending to their love. Kinsley went on to become the veterinarian she had wanted to be. Then she met Ben, a quick romance and Kinsley moves in with Ben the perfect life, love. Then years later the disillusion of a perfect life, love begins...
Do yourself a favour and read this book, don’t overlook it whatever you do! In my opinion this is his best book thus far! It’s so open, honest, raw and true to his writing style it switches between both POV’s. Which showcases the struggles to mend the void in her broken relationships. You can really feel the push and pull of heartstrings from both perspectives. Given that my name is Linda I was so connected to the book it felt like I was the neighbour watching from the fence line. I could see the perfect house and lives of my neighbours but I also knew that looking in can be deceiving. I’m shocked by Kinsley’s acceptance of boring, I wanted to give her a talking to about just existing or living life.
One positive pregnancy test, two men and three broken hearts. Brice was Kinsley’s first love it was unconditional, spontaneous and supposed to be forever until it wasn’t. Ben is her new love her life is comfortable and easy, it’s based on outward appearances, structure and his work. Kinsley’s thought she was happy until she heard from Brice. He reopened her heart and mind to the emotions she’d fought so hard to bury. Now she is torn with a huge decision to make...should she choose her true love, her partner or should she choose to find herself again?
I cannot properly express what I’m feeling about this book yet, but find it very important to say something...anything, just so you know to get this book!
I don’t read others reviews before I get a book because they always give stuff away and I like to find out first hand.
This book starts off with me thinking, really, your going to do that !? That it’s nothing but a silly little love triangle where the girl wants her cake and to eat it too?
Then ... the more I read, the more I broke. The further I got, the harder it was to see that line clearly. My heart felt full, felt lost, felt busted and burnt....
Which way does it go now, how does this story reach an end that doesn’t shatter someone!? As always, Jaxson Kidman has spun his web, called me in and devoured me heart and soul using Kinsley, Brice and Ben.
WOW! Jaxson writes love and life as it is, messy, painful, hopeful and passionate and Somebody Else is all of that and so much more. This will rip your heart out, make you cry, but then he goes and gives you the hope and love to fill your heart and make you smile. Brice and Kinsley's story is one emotional roller coaster ride, both past and present, but it's a ride you will not regret taking. Through all their faults and pain they have caused each other, they truly love each other. Now they have to deal with that truth in the reality they have created for themselves, is normal they created enough? This is SO GOOD, everyone can relate to this at some level. I wish every would read this, and the conclusion in Nobody Else!!
Jaxson Kidman hurt my heart with this book. It was raw and emotional draining to read. It took me a while to finish this book. Kinsley and Brice as a painful past that they both want to forget. Kinsley is in a boring relationship that she uses as a cover because of the painful loss she and Brice went through. This book made me cry so much that the words on the page were blurring. Brice was also struggling with the loss. Trying to hold himself together. I feel for him because noone can understand what a man feels when suffering with a loss of a child. I understand completely I've lost two children of my own. All I can say is this book was full of raw feelings. Please have your tissue with you when reading this book.
We're introduced to Brice and Kinsley through a heartbreaking and pivotal moment in their lives. A couple torn apart, in despair and attempting to arise from the flames and ashes because their lives truly burned up.
Brice is an incredible character. He's all male but from the beginning of his story, he's proven that he's a real man to the core. His interactions leave no doubt to his character and he melted me with his references to Kinsley. And Kinsley, she burrowed herself into my heart. She dealt with every situation with such strength.
And add in another person to this circle that forms a triangle. That's certainly unexpected especially given the couple's former and current circumstance. We watch as what appears to be a new beginning turn into what ifs, what could be and what happens next.
The vicious and never ending circle was torture and temptation. Kidman certainly excelled. Anxiously awaiting Book 2.
Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster of a ride!
Raw, Real, Emotional, just some of the words that I would use to describe this story. A topic a lot of people can relate to. The thing with Jaxson's books is that they contain real life situations and always touch your heart, its the way he tells the journey of the characters with raw emotions and heartbreaking detail that make you want to laugh, cry, and shout at the words as you go thought the journey with them. For anyone new to, or considering reading from the author I would highly recommend it you will never to disappointed. In my opinion this is his best work yet. 10/10 absolutely loved it. A must for all TBR lists.
Jaxson Kidman has done it again with the phenomenal first book in the Somebody, Nobody Duet. It is one of the best books that I have read this year! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put the book down as I went through every emotion possible. It is so raw and deals with some very difficult subjects, but they were handled and written brilliantly. I both loved and disliked each character at different points during the story and had plenty of tissues and chocolate on hand to get me through! This book had me in an emotional mess...but I would recommend it to everyone. You don't want to miss out on it, I promise! It will stay with you forever! I am really impatiently looking forward to the next book! ❤️😘
First of all, this book is the realest & rawest book that I’ve I believe Jaxson has written to date. Second, from the very first chapter i was hooked & couldn’t stop reading it. Boy am I glad I didn’t because this book really needs to be read & experience by everyone. This book touched me deeper then I could’ve ever imagined. This book got really personal for me because I felt the lost that Kinsley & Brice experienced so I cried right along with them. All the tears & the emotional roller coaster that I went on as I read it so much more memorable & unforgettable. I can’t wait to see how this story ends.
Jaxson Kidman has once again written a powerful story that stays with you long after you turn the last page. Here are the reasons you need to read it. 1. If you have ever lost something or someone and tried to run from the pain. 2. If you have ever settled for less than what you deserved or needed. 3. If you have ever been torn between two great loves This book is emotional, real, and raw. You will love, hate, and want to scream at the characters as you watch the consequences of their actions play out in their lives. I was captivated from the very beginning and can not wait to see how this story plays out.
Wow. There are so many truths to this story and they are split three ways...Kinsley, Ben and Brice. Right now I don't know which one ticks me off more. Ben is the controlling workaholic who doesn't seem to care for Kinsley or their relationship. Brice is the seemingly carefree soul who oversteps boundaries in his quest to win back Kiinsley. And Kinsley. I hate the way she is playing this triangle of feelings and wavering between these two men. She obviously needed counselling when her baby died but never sought that help. I believe the pain left her emotionally stunted.
For sure this first half of the story has more questions than answers! The author has definitely entrapped our feelings in the web that is Kinsley, Ben and Brice.
As I read this book I felt every emotion these people were going through. I felt so heart broken for both Kinsley and Brice. The two of them love so deep and lost so much it tore them apart. Jaxson Kidman knows how to pull you into the story and feel EVERY emotion they are feeling. You will laugh and cry right along with Kinsley,Brice, and Ben. If you want to read a book that feels so like you are the person Jaxson is writing about this is one of those books. All of his books pull you in emotionally from the very first chapter. I can say I really don't like Ben in this book. I don't feel he loves Kinley completely. I can't wait for the next book to see how this all ends. I'm rooting for Kinsley and Brice. Don't let me down Jaxson. One of your best books.
Kinsley was right, she was a WHORE!!! I like Brice, I hope in the second book he finds someone else and completely gets over Kinsley (maybe Linda) no matter if she cries and begs for his forgiveness. Bruce ***** / Kinsley *. I really wish when author's write stories like this that the make the character waiting in limbo find somebody else and fall in love and forget about the one who dissed them. If they run into each other so be it just continue the story line with new love and let them be happy.
Could not believe that an educated doctor could not pick one man. Sleeping with two men within a 24 hour period. Back and forth. Over and over. Reminded me of the Jerry Springer talk show!
I want to say I am rooting for this couple. Without spoiling the book for others, I will say Brice and Kinsley’s story hopefully will not end here. That’s to say there is more of their journey to reconnection and I can imagine it is fret with a great deal of emotional roadblocks and painful truths.
Brice is very much a man with a heart of gold, sensitive and full of empathy. You can tell when he shows his love for a very young Milo, a boy who is not his but for which he cares deeply. Brice and Kingsley had a life together until tragedy tore it apart, and now both are on separate paths that help them forget or lessen the pain from the past. Kingsley is in a safe and passionless relationship with a another man, and that’s the way she wants it. Less to risk, protecting her heart. Now years later, Brice and Kingsley have a chance meeting, and you can tell the love never died, it’s still very much alive. Both are wary because along with that love lies painful memories. I certainly didn’t expect that twist and unexpected turn in events toward the ending. My heart ached a little bit more.
Mr. Kidman pulls out all the stops. He has poured out his soul in this story and it shows. Kidman doesn’t shy away from real hard subjects about human failings, and he handles it so well in his stories. It is heartbreaking, poignant and we can only hope that Brice and Kingsley find that dream of fulfillment, another chance at the beautiful life they once had together. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
A very moving, frustrating, story of love, tragedy, grief, and trying to find a way forward. This is Part One of Two, and you will NEED to read 'Nobody Else' to find how Kinsley, Ben, and Brice find resolution, peace, and love. Well edited.
In the beginning, we meet Kinsley, Ben, and Brice. Kinsley and Ben are living the perfect life, in the perfect house, with the perfect jobs. Everything is just - Perfect. And then, Brice sees Kinsley across a soccer field. Brice sends an email to Kinsley, and suddenly, the cracks in Perfect begin to show.
Ben and Kinsley have built a life on never looking back. They never speak of the past. As if, ignoring what had been can stop it from being real.
Except, Brice. He is part of the unspoken past. He wants to remember and address the past so that he can embrace a future. With Kinsley.
And once a crack forms, more follow. Now, Ben struggles to hang on to the present as he keeps his eye on the future. Will Kinsley move forward with Ben? Or will she confront her grief and forge a future with Brice?
So much grief. So much love. So much frustration. I just want to hug Brice. I want to encourage Kinsley to deal with her loss. But, I know everyone handles grief differently. And Ben. Well, I don't like how he speaks to Kinsley. He has his own grief, and is lost in his own solution - which isn't really a solution. But, again, everyone handles grief differently. Now, to see if these three will come out of the darkness of grief and find light in love. Enjoy.
This is Brice and Kinsleys story, it is such a heartbreaking and Emotional read a real tear jerker. What happened to these two people who are madly in love with each other and are about to become a family is very tragic and has devastating consequences for them both. After Kingsley gives birth to their daughter Lindsay, life changes as their daughter dies. Kingsley shuts down and Brice tries his best to keep things going suffering in silence with his own grief. She blames Brice because he couldn’t prevent it and pushes him away instead of seeking out comfort in each other she moves out and leaves Brice with his own demons. Kingsley lost herself and couldn’t find her way back to Brice and her old life. Then she meats Ben and her life becomes simple and plant it’s comfortable and she pushes the past away for years it works for both until Brice shows up and the past returns for both. Now she loves two men what will she do she is very confused and cheats on Ben with Brice. Jaxson has approached this subject about the death of a child and what can happen after woods very well. I can relate how Kingsley felt and why she moved away but not coming back to Brice and talking it out was wrong in my opinion. I recommend this book to read and give it 5*****
This had so many things I don't like to read in a book. I hate triangles and this is a big one. She loves Ben and Brice. She has a past with Brice but she is with Ben. I wanted to just smack the crap out of Kinsley. The way she would let Ben talk to her like she was stupid and couldn't understand his business, Regardless on if she understood she just wanted to be a part of his everyday life and he just shit on her over and over. The fact that she just kept accepting it was to much. I HATE cheating and this book is full of it. She sleeps with Brice and then turns around and goes back home and sleeps with Ben. Both of them knowing that she has been with the other. I don't know if it was just me or what but this book started out confusing. I didn't know what was going on and truthfully by the end I'm still not sure. What happened between Kinsley and Brice once the baby was gone? What caused the death of their child? What's going on with Brice and June? Why didn't he ever explain to Kinsley what is going on? So many unanswered questions. A big pet peeve of mine and I know most don't care, but don't describe your characters in your book and then have you cover nothing like them. Don't say the heroin is a blond and then have a dark haired cover model.
This book deserves more than 5 stars!! I always scramble for the right words to express how Jaxson Kidman’s books make me feel after I’ve finished reading one, and reviewing Somebody Else will be no exception. Like with all his books, Jaxson’s unique way of writing pulls you into the story right away. There’s no hesitation- it’s like walking through a door and sitting down at the table, and he’s going to tell you a story.... about life, love and all that goes along with it, as only Jaxson can tell it. This book’s characters, Brice and Kinsley are incredible, like none other before them. The words are alive with depth, pain, love and every other emotion that grips your heart and soul, and leads you on this journey- one you’ll never forget. I had to take mini “process” breaks through this book, to work through the effects it was having on me. I know this going in to every one of Jaxson Kidman’s books, and I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world. It was pure pleasure reading Somebody Else, and I look forward to reading Nobody Else next. Get this book, it’s well worth your time!~Angie❤️
Somebody Else is a riveting story that will capture your heart and move every emotion you have from beginning to end! Kinsley is a beautiful woman who is trapped between her past (Brice) and her present (Ben). Kinsley and Brice suffered a tragedy many years ago. Kinsley believes she has moved forward onto the perfect, simple life (Ben) putting her past behind her, despite the pain that is always in her heart. She says she is happy with her present life because she never has to deal with or talk about her past. When Kinsley receives an email, her world she "thinks" is peaceful and calm becomes nothing but. Jaxson Kidman has out done himself with this story. It is pure raw emotion, passionate, and completely captivating. The ending will have you screaming for more! Good news: Book 2 the conclusion will release soon! I look forward to finding out how Brice, Kinsley, and Ben's worlds collide! Sheer Perfection!! A MUST READ!!
Oh has Kinsley gotten herself into a big mess. It seems she wasn’t looking for a relationship but then she met Ben and just kind of fell into a relationship, one that neither discussed their past lives. Ben controls everything. Then Kinsley’s past comes to the town where her life is simple, planned and controlled, by Ben. Her past is Brice, her first and at one time, her forever. Brice never planned for the future, he just went day by day with no worries and made a life just by winging it. Brice and Kinsley were expecting a baby, until Kinsley went into labor, the pregnancy had been perfect, until time for delivery. The birth and death of their daughter changed them both. Now 7 years later, Brice has found Kinsley but she’s with Ben. She’s not happy with Ben until both of their pasts have been explored. Now Kinsley has to choose which man she loves more.
Sigh.... That is what I did the entire time I read this book. Sigh.... I sighed over and over again because the angst made sigh, the past made me sigh, the love of Brice made me sigh...all good sighs. But then the bad sighs came. I sighed over Ben and his jerk ways, I sighed over Kinsley making excuses for Ben and his jerk ways (especially with Linda), I signed when Kinsley couldnt make up her mind, I sighed for every email she sent. I sighed when I heard the story behind Milo and the lie Brice told. I sighed a good sigh when Brice and Kinsley finally got together and I sighed a bad one when she left the next morning. But my biggest and worst sigh of all was the ending of this book. I didnt want to sigh. Instead I wanted to smack the crap out of her and tell her she doesnt deserve Brice!!!! Cannot wait to dive into Book 2.

Kinsley & Brice story is so in depth that it gripped my heart from the very beginning and never let my heart go until the very end. The scenarios with all the emails are some of my favorite parts because they are so vividly and well written that you can easily visualize yourself as one of the characters and you can also visualize the emotion that Jaxson the author was trying to portray. I that that each one of the characters was well developed when I first started seeing the scenes with Ben I thought that he was completely arrogant but finding out about his past made me see him in a different way.
Jaxson has proved yet again that he is a fantastic author. Bring a box of tissues to read this and be prepared be angry, heartbroken and damn well annoyed! Brice and Kinsley will always be connected, You always are with your first love, but these two even more so. Then there's Ben, this book has you pushing and pulling between each of them. Each one with their own stories to tell. The way that Jaxson writes makes you believe that you are actually a part of these people's lives, it affects you hours, days after reading..... Please read this book.. You won't regret it ♥
I'm not real sure where or how to start this review, so if im all over the place, you'll know why when you read this book. My emotions hit the gamet. I laughed. I cried. I got super mad at the characters, and thought about throwing my kindle, more than once I might add. And then, I did it all over again. I loved Brice from the beginning. Kinsely mostly too, Ben, not so much. But he grew on me. They all did. I loved reading their struggles. The hardships of life they face. The love, and the loss. All of it made for such a bookhangover I'm not sure I'll recuperate. But then again, isn't that what a great book is supposed to do.
What do you do when love loss comes in so many forms? This tug of war tale still has me wondering! Kinsley, Brice, and Ben have a story that's pulling my heart in many frustrating directions! Jaxson Kidman reeled me from the very beginning with unique characters and a beautifully damaged storyline that for as much as it killed me I needed to keep going! A one sitting kept me up well past what's good for everyone around me hour- this is an emotional rollercoaster of feels that just felt like it needed to be written, and I am waiting impatiently for the second book to put me out of my misery! Well done!
