A short, well-made book from the Newton Institute summarizing their findings in working with thousands of subjects in hypnotic regressions to their past lives and their "lives between lives"--the realm of experience that exists between our earthly incarnations.

The material is brief, powerful, and provocative. The book contains a series of 19 exercises to help the reader engage more deeply and personally with the material presented. Why are we born? What do our relationships mean? What are we doing with our lives? What happens after death? It's all here.

Chances are, you'll be drawn to this material only if you already have a deep inkling that you're ready to hear it. If you are, then this book is ready and waiting for you.

This book makes so much sense to me. So many things I know about and I don't know why. No it's not Déjà vu, it's something else completely. I want to go thru the first chapters of the book and practice that, then find someone to help me find my Life Between Lives. Life regression was used in several studies of people who had problems of anxiety and pain and were helped by finding out what had come in another time. So much information for those who believe that there is more. I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I have to admit that the first few chapters of this put far too much emphasis on belief. Maybe it's because I've read other books on this subject matter but I feel that someone who takes the trouble to read about it has already become at least open to belief and the 'exercises' in the first few chapters seem redundant and amount to quiet contemplation of the sort of things that will have already led the reader to pick up the book, like being attracted to certain places or eras.

As the chapters went on I had hoped for something more, but the 'exercises' continued to be more suggestions for things to think about rather than guidance for self-hypnosis as I've seen in other books. There were references for going between lives but no real instruction about how to accomplish that.

All of the 'evidence' presented was completely subjective accounts. No examples of evidence that got confirmed by historical records or surviving relatives of the previous person as I've seen elsewhere.

When it began talking about a council of elders, the book pretty much lost me and it went further into new age territory after that. To be quite honest, if this were the only book I had ever read on reincarnation, I would be writing the topic off as total fantasy. The writing itself is good, but there is nothing to convince the questioning reader that any of it is any more than imagination.

I have loved every other single book in this series that I've read, this one... it put me to sleep every time I opened it to read. I did end up finishing it because it was an ARC and I push through ARCs if I can. It contains good information in here about lives between lives and a little about what happens after we die while waiting to be reborn but it's the way it's told I guess that just made it so boring.

I really hate to say this because I enjoy this topic but wasn't written in a way that pulled me in.

*Thanks to NetGalley for this title in exchange for na honest review*

Super interesting read about past life regression and life between lives. This is my first introduction to LBL, and I love this book! It was a fast read, lots of stories of people's experiences, and many easy exercises to try.

Uplifting

A concise explanation of the LBL experience.
I found the book uplifting- giving me great hope for the earth and the human race.
I’m looking forward to experiencing my own LBL. I feel the book has prepared me for the experience.

No my type of book. I was expecting to read something similar to Ian Stevenson's work and I was disappointed. The content is more related to secular practices.
