How far will Nina run to escape her mother's manipulation? Straight into the arms of an alien with the body and wings of an angel.

Nina hatches a plan to fend off her mother’s interminable matchmaking and responds to an ad she sees for Celestial Mates. She has no intention of settling down or finding true love, she only wants to buy herself time and freedom. There's no way she's going to end up like her sister, married to a corporate asshole. After a simple VR scan, she's off to meet her tall, ripped, handsome as sin alien match.

Adonael—warrior and Commander of the Caelaran—knows his people are losing the fight against the Vorkess. His race is on the verge of extinction, the female population dwindling, and many more dying in their sacred duty of battle. A joined-mate was never a possibility until the small, enticing human female with ink-black hair is thrust into his life.

For the promise of a future with a mate as alluring as Nina, Adonael will fight any enemy, face any threat to see her safe.

WHOOPSIE...

I'm reviewing an ARC copy of this book, and this is a voluntary, independent, and uncompensated review. WHAT THE BLEEP HAPPENED??? I'm so into Miranda Martin's books. Her Red Planet Dragons series is the bomb, and it all started with a match made by Celestial Mates. I figured this would be an awesome addition to the Celestial Mates group of alien romances. I figured WRONG. This is SO BAD I had to make myself finish it. It makes n o sense at all. There is/is not a(n) attraction/romance/love story between the H and h - depending on which paragraph of which chapter you read. Adonael is a warrior/angel/soldier/religious cult member who does/does not believe what the elders teach - depending on which paragraph of which chapter you read. Nina, who signed up for Celestial Mates to get her marriage-minded match-making mother off her back, does/does not want to meet her match on Adonael's planet, does/does not want to stay on his planet, and is/is not even interested in a permanent mate - depending on etc., etc., etc. To make matters murkier, Nina's escort to the planet, who is from the big CM service itself, is an Ai, or a cyborg, or MIA - depending on where in the novel she comes up. And the whole dang planet is under attack by invading Vorkess, whose toxic weapon may or may not kill off all Adonael's people, and Nina may/may not be able to read Adonael's thoughts and assist him to defeat the Vorkess, and the elders may or may not know what's up with the Celestial Mates service, and... and... You get my point. This is pages upon pages of poorly written verbal vertigo, sans plot, character development, romance, and even believable sex. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I'm still gonna read Miranda Martin - hopefully this one is a forgettable oops, and her next book will show her as the imaginative world-builder and writer she truly is.

Not sure

The story wasn't too bad. It was just some of the writing was a little repetitive. Towards the middle to end it felt a little rushed. If it was added to or edited a little bit better it would be good. Especially with that mystery, that wasn't solved, with Celeste.

Clean romance story between a female that grew up on a space station & alien warrior fighting for his planet

May contain subject matter that is offensive or a potential trigger. This includes a semi-steamy and fade to black intimate scenes and violence (fighting between enemies on the planet of Caelara and a space ship crashing). If you are sensitive to any of these subjects, then this may not be the story for you.

I did not notice any adult language and the story is heavy on ancient Caelaran spiritual rituals, which I will admit took me a little bit to get into since it is unusual for me to encounter religion woven as deeply into the plot line.

I liked the character development and introduction (at least for me) as to how different life could be for someone on the space station and Caelara. I do wish the chemistry would have been highlighted more after the H/h meet. I also had a couple of plot line questions that I was wondering about after I finished, one of which was the ultimate fate of Mihr. I can only assume he died, but it wasn't expressly stated.

Here is a highlevel overview of how the story begins:

Nina is a projection artist for a holo-show. She is responsible for the lighting, sets, and coding that will support the human / alien cast acting for the audience. She achieved being a master show director at a young age (23), but it was something that came very naturally to her.

When it begins she finds herself having to hide from her mother and the man she is trying to match Nina with. Nina has no desire in being forced to marry just because she has reached a certain age. She is not anti-love or commitment shy, but she likes being independent especially after seeing first hand how marriage has changed her older sister, Luna.

After Jorda (her best friend who is an alien with a great smile, webbed fingers and a lot of arms) helped her evade her mother, she is summoned by her mom for a mandatory family dinner. Great ... then while watching the latest holo-booth story, Nina comes up with a plan to get her mom to leave her alone with all of the matchmaking.

Adonael is a winged Caelaran warrior, who leads a group of soldiers against their mortal enemy, the Vorkess, that invaded their planet a long time ago. Just when it seemed they might be finally winning this drawn out war, the Vorkess unleashed a toxic gas. The effects can be minimized if washed off and not breathed in, but with this latest weapon, it appeared it was just a matter of time. Regardless of what the ancient prophecies stated. Adonael couldn't help the negative thoughts after one of his strongest warriors, Mihr, fell after inhaling the gas. Now he was shriveling up into himself and Adonael was powerless to stop it.

The Caelaran warriors had certain rituals they completed before battle that was used to strengthen them and their connection to the thought wavelengths that allowed confidence and bravery to be shared with all of the soldiers. If doubt or uncertainty was allowed to go unchecked, it would pollute them all. This was why Adonael had to be really careful to guard his thoughts and not allow his uncertainty to poison his fellow warriors.

Nina went to the required family dinner but didn't tell her family what she had planned to circumvent her mother's matchmaking. When she finally made it back home, she brought up her AI, Celeste, and completed her application to Celestial Mates. This way if they found her a potential match, she could meet them casually and use that to hold off her mother. Then she was notified that a match had been made and she was to depart in a hour to meet them. Too bad she wasn't informed of all the details surrrounding Celestial Mates, or that her AI wasn't a better pilot ...

During the ritual of drinking a crushed leaf that can provide mild hallucinations, Adonael had a vision of the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He didn't know her, but he felt like they were destined to meet soon and that she was the future he was fighting for. The thought of that was strange to him, as he always through he would remain chaste and devote himself to protecting their planet and never taking a mate.

When all of the rituals were completed, Adonael and one his soldiers spotted some smoke. They needed to get there before the Vorkess. Someone could be hurt plus they couldn't afford to let their enemy get so close to their temple.

I am going to stop there so I don't accidentally provide any spoilers or twists.

Nina was hiding from her mother in a dark dressing room among the racks of clothing when she heard a kind voice ask her who she was hiding from. Of course she was hiding from her mother, not for the first time. Young ladies by the age of 23 were expected to be married and producing offspring to grow the population in their sectors at the Galaxra2 space station. But that was not in Nina’s plans! Jorda, a webbed alien friend, told her that her mother was probably gone by now. Her mother was constantly bringing men to look her over in an attempt to marry Nina off. Jorda told her to stay where she was and he would try to help find a solution. Nina decided to just dash past her mother and the man, with Jorda pretending she was in a big rush and hurrying her along so she couldn’t stop and socialize. The ruse worked for now. But Nina had a plan that would permanently outwit her mother. She was going to sign up for Celestial Mates! Once she was matched, she could pretend to her mother that it was more serious than it ever would be – and she would have to stop trying to pick a husband for her! And perhaps she would find the adventure she craved!

Adonael is a warrior and the Commander of the Caelaran. They are battling against the Vorkess and have lost many warriors. His friend Mihr was seriously injured in the last attack by a chemical fog that was devastating if breathed. Up until the fog, they had been victorious. With fewer warriors left each day, Adonael finds himself facing doubts. His people look to their prophecies for their future; he has to remain strong. Each warrior drank the ritual drink that let them see visions of battles, people, events – and Adonael saw a beautiful young woman. She was special and he had to find her. As Adonael and Nina are brought together, will she find her “match made in Heaven” or a battle she may not survive?

This was a good story. Nina was a smart, independent woman who wanted to live life on her own terms. Adonael was a leader who cared deeply for his people. The characters were definitely worthy of respect. The story line moves at an appropriate pace, although some of the Caelaran beliefs and way of life could be difficult to wade through. The characters made it all work, though. Get your copy and find out how the battle turns out and what the future holds for our heroes.

I wasn't all that thrilled with this story, there was just too much I need in a book that was lacking in this one. Nina takes off on a whim to avoid her mother's matchmaking. She is transported by her AI connection to Celestial Mates, which she joined to find her perfect match. They crash land on the Caelarian planet and rescued by an Angel looking man that had a previous dream about her, but never tells her that. The Caelarans are at war with the Vorkess, but even that is given very brief mentions without much explanations. The Angel people ( Caelarans) have had fertility problems and need women to help repopulate their species. Nina was abandoned by her AI/Android and no further explanations about the Celestial Mates program. There was just too much information being kept secret and not a lot made sense to me. There was also not very much romance and absolutely no physical affection until the very last chapter. I have enjoyed all of the Miranda Martin books I have read and every one, I rated 5 stars, I wish that was the case with this story but sadly, it's not.

I wanted to like this one, and it is a decent story, but I just didn't connect with the characters. I can't say that there was anything wrong with either Nina or Adonael but I didn't find them more than okay. I felt like Nina should have paid more attention to the rules for Celestial Mates before signing up, though I do give her credit for trying to find a way out of her mother's marriage schemes.

I had some issues with the Caelaran society's attitude of you must not question prophecy. It rubbed me wrong. There were some other world-building areas that I wish had been built-up or explained a bit better, especially with the Celestial Mates organization.

This book has the celestial (angel) mating agency hard at work once more. There is a lot of tension between the characters; both of the good and bad type. A miscommunication leads to confusion and add an ongoing war into the mix and you have a recipe for a match made in....heaven? (Angels...get it?) Anyway, there are some humorous moments that, while seemingly inappropriate in some situations, do make the characters a bit more, er, human. It's amazing how an author can make an alien being seem like a natural thing.

I do recommend this book, especially if you've read the other books in this series. It's fun, it's romantic and it will give you a new perspective when you look up into the night.

👼Angels Never Fear to Tread

The beginning of this book is a bit slow and strange, but once Nina💃💋 finally gets to the planet🌍 of her Celestial mate, the story starts to pick up.

Seems Adonael👼🍆🌋 is a winged warrior on the planet Caelara🌍. They are at war with the Vorkess👾. Nina💃💋 is sent there to meet her mate, but she doesn't know who he is. Adonael👼🍆🌋 is completely in the dark, but he really likes Nina💃💋! He is a warrior who never expects to have a mate, but he never signed up at Celestial Mates, either. Yet Adonael👼🍆🌋 is the one that rescues Nina💃💋 from her crashed pod in the middle of the war zone.
Parts of the book are silly. I think it's supposed to show how Nina is a kind of naive valley girl from a space station.

Nina joins Celestial Mates to get away from her mothers matchmaking and meets Adonael.
Nina is fed up of her mother's matchmaking so she signs up with Celestial Mates and agrees to leave the space station where she lives. Her ship crashes onto Caelara and she is rescued by Adonael a winged warrior who resembles an angel. He takes her to the Temple for healing and safety as the Caelarans are at war with an invading species the Vorkess. She finds herself drawn to Adonael but unsure if she can make Caelara her home but it gets stranger when she start connecting to Caelarans thoughts. An Alien romance to relax and enjoy.

This was a good story. I got swept in the story and can't wait to read more about this series.

Nina is looking for a way to stop her mother from arranging her marriage with some stranger. She signs up for the Celestial Mates but doesn't really pay attention to the fine print. She travels to meet her match but crash landed instead. Adonael, a warrior and Commander of the Caelaran finds her and brings her back to the Temple. She land in the middle of a war. Adonael is interested in her but doesn't feel he can do anything with the war going on. Nina is confused on what is going on but slowly things become clearer. Nina likes Adonael. Will they be able to work everything out?

Nina & Adonael

Nina has been trying to avoid her mother, who has been trying to find her a match to improve the family social standing on the space station where they lived. Finally Nina registers with Celestial Mates service desperate to escape her mother. She ends up crashing on Caelara where she is rescued from the wreck site by Adonael, a winged and armored native.

He flies carrying her to the central site which he calls a temple. They are delayed on the way by an attack by the Vorkress, who are alien invaders. Nina and Adonael end up as the attracted couple in this romance.

Characterization is good and plotting is excellent.

Under His Wing is the first book I've read in the Celestial Mates series. I found the storyline interesting and the two main characters, Nina & Aboneal, are very well developed and ones that you find you respect. Will each be able to accomplish what they set out to do. This is an action packed tale with adventure, war, conflict, intrigue, twists and turns, and much more. Looking forward to reading more of this series. Recommended. Received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Ticked wish I could get the hours back wasted on this read

Ok I thought this was suppose to be a Romance novel??? This was Young Adult no way was this an Adult Romance there wasn't any intimate scenes or scene period just a passing description of their time in bed together it was such a disappointment I was seriously ticked when I got to the ending it was about as bad as when I was reading breaking dawn I had waited forever wanting to read about Bella and Edward only to find out she wrote it PG-13 so yeah it pissed me off just as bad as this LoL

I really enjoyed this book. I like the premise and the direction of the story. I think the backstory of certain characters could have been included. I feel the author should have gone into more depth into main characters instead of just glancing over them just enough to make sense. Other than that the book was amazing and I would definitely recommend this to others.

I love the Celestial Mates series!!!! Who doesn't love alpha male aliens and their snarky mates. I really enjoyed this book and the fact that Nina does not bow down and kiss her mothers tush. She is a strong capable woman that knows what she wants and it is not to be set up by her mother to a corporate man. Just like all the other books this author writes, the characters and world building are perfect.

Miranda Martin writes a fabulous sci-fi romance that manages to leave a sweet sense of satisfaction. Always a good way to feel when I am finished reading any romance novel. Ooo, I enjoyed this book, especially when there was such a handsome hero, an alpha warrior with wings, whose very agenda of safeguarding his people and planet and the human he loves made such wonderful story.

Who knew crash landing into the middle of a war could help a girl find romance? This story has an intense hero who is her own angel. He always seems to be saving her. And she is a brilliant woman who just needs to get away from a mother who can’t stop pushing men on to her so she will get married. And boy does her mom know how to pick them. So expect action, romance and some humor throughout this book.

Cute and sweet, I liked Adonael. I liked Nina more later in the book, felt that she should have cared a little more and been afraid of the war. Would also wish for a little more physical romance, like some of the author's other books. All in all I liked it.

An interesting alien 'find your mate' book. I liked Nina and her eventual mate. The book was well written with a great deal of drama in the form of a war between races. It was complex enough to be intriguing and simple enough to easily follow the story with its likable characters and fun combative relationship between mother and daughter. I'm hoping for her sister Clare's story next.

She will not marry the man her mother wants her to. She sees an ad and goes for it. She is shocked when she is chosen for an alien but she goes to him. He knew he had to try to save his people. As soon as he saw her he knew he was hooked. Can they make it work? See if they can
