I highly recommend this to any Sondheim fan, musical theatre enthusiast or musician. My favourite essays in particular are the ones concerning Nixon’s America (and how Follies links in with it), the wondering in depth musical analysis of Passion, the presentation of women in his musicals and the staging of A Little Night Music.

Superbly written, I thoroughly enjoyed.

Easy to read and goes into great depth about Sondheim's thought process when creating, writing and composing.
