Management Made Simple: Ideas of a former McKinsey Partner

Rate this book
Mickey Huibregtsen shares his vision and ideas with next generations of leadersRelevant for managers at any level in any type of organization who aspire to 'see the forest through the trees'Our societies have come to the end of the road. We need a fundamental reconstruction of the systems and institutions that now govern us and redefine the roles of all the players with a stronger focus on making things work by respecting the human dimension. This is not a choice between socialism, and capitalism or any other -ism. There is no future for any pure -ism.

Life is too complex and interdependent for that. We need organic institutions with a clear view of purpose and values. We need governments that guide and inspire, rather than direct and control. We need corporations that pursue value creation for all stakeholders and finally we need citizens that reassume their personal responsibility for the wellbeing of society.

An important reminder of prudent management from a deep thinker

Mickey Huibregtsen showcases his wealth of experience concerning matters of management. The author explains often that the best way to deal with complex issues is to simplify them in the correct way- This is especially important in today's escalating market.

"Value is in the eye of the beholder". Furthermore, Huibregtsen says that the role of the emotional revolution superseded the information-era, placing value on the connection with a customer. Ultimately placing importance on successfully adapting to market trends, and due to Huibregtsen immense experience, who better to enlighten a reader on complex market trends?

This is an essential read for anyone involved in the world of management due to its simplicity to tackle issues that would be pertinent in any organizational level.

Light reading

This is VERY light reading for someone in a large corporate. Better suited for a small business/entrepreneur. Reference to the author’s association with McKinsey hoodwinked me into buying the book.

I agree with journalist Ian Mann who wrote: "If you are a senior manager or executive and you read only one book this year as part of your professional development, this should be the book." (FIN24 - 3 October 2018)
