Full moon or full evil?

Cops and ER nurses agree--a full moon brings out the crazy in people.

Police Chief Frank Bennett isn't superstitious. But he can't explain why the people--and even the animals--of Trout Run are behaving out of character. A wild animal at his door, a hallucinating hiker, a violent freak-out at the general store--what's going on in his normally placid town in the Adirondacks?

Then weird turns to deadly, and Frank has a violent death and a missing person to investigate. Is the missing man a perpetrator or a victim?

Some people suspect the strange doings in town are related to the arrival of an unusual new church. But maybe the Tabernacle of Living Light is just a convenient scapegoat for something much darker eating at the town's soul. Something powerful people and their allies will kill to conceal.

Bringing the evil to justice requires risking the life of an idealistic young woman. Frank’s desire to stay in control of events is put to the test. Will he win the battle but lose the war?

Join Police Chief Frank Bennett as he solves another perplexing case and struggles to protect the town he loves.

I love the Frank Bennett series and was so excited to learn a new one would be released soon! I love S. W. Hubbard's work and Tailspinner was no exception.

Frank is a small town police officer with only one other officer on the force. They patrol the kind of town where everyone knows everyone else or at least knows of everyone else. You'd think nothing would happen and they'd be bored, but lots happens in this small town in the Adirondacks!

The author's characters are very well rounded, seem like people I'd like to know and they and their stories pull you in immediately. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next in this book and while I wanted to get to the ending, I didn't want to because that would mean the story was over.

Ms. Hubbard gives great descriptions that make you feel like you can see the scenery and locations described in her books. That combined with the strength of the characters she writes is what keeps me coming back for more. Even though this is part of a series, they do not need to be read in order.

If you like mysteries, small towns, great characters and/or descriptions, the Frank Bennett mysteries are calling your name!

Just plain good

One of the things that make S W's book good is the realness of her characters. You can always relate a book character to someone you have known in your own life. Added to that would be the mystery wrapped in a complex yet believable plot

Another enjoyable visit to the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks and every bit as good as I expected! Ms. Hubbard certainly has a great ear for dialogue and I love how she brings her characters to life. Earl has matured nicely but I'm a bit concerned about Penny. She needs to chill a bit!

Another Foray into Trout Run

I enjoy Frank Bennett’s practical no-nonsense take on police work and the denizens of the town. The maturation of Earl is also a welcome development! Write on, S. W.! Write on!

So happy to read another Frank Bennet Adirondack book! This is the 5th in SW Hubbard’s series that takes place in the northern Adirondack mountain region. There are several investigations that Chief Frank and his assistant, Earl have to sort through. The best part for me is seeing that they follow through with the people who need their help. Many twists and turns that grabbed and kept my interest-then I can’t stop reading!. Common knowledge that a full moon brings out the crazies. References to local attractions, businesses, and High Peaks activities make this an enjoyable read beyond the mystery. And I fell in love with “Yogi”, Frank’s unplanned rescue companion. This book can be a stand alone read, but the continuing characters’ growth is developed from book 1.

An exciting read.....

A book with more twists and turns than a roller coaster ! Frank Bennett is always underestimated as he is police chief of a small rural. Those who underestimate him are are going to learn that their first mistake was thinking they could pull off a crime AND the second mistake was thinking they would get away with it. I recommend this book, it would have earned a full FIVE STARS but there are typos that the editor and proof readers missed. But don’t let that stop you from buying this book as the author is gifted, skilful and knows exactly how to a mystery that you will not be able to put down once you start reading.

Pay Attenton

In this adventure Frank Bennett and the citizens of Trout Run deal with outsiders and the way they influence the rhythm of small town life, spoiler alert, even Reverend Bob looses his cool. A new upscale grocery store and a new “new age” religious group come to town. The town folks like that The Hungry Loon has come to town bringing worldly delicacies on it’s shelves and the Tabernacle of Living Light believes the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach. This story, like all of S w Hubbard’s tales, has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. I eagerly await the next Frank Bennett Trout Run adventure.

Chief Frank Bennett has his hands full when a series of seemingly unrelated events disrupt usually quiet Trout Run. But as things become more violent, a connection seems to be made with a new age church that has opened in town. How is everything related, and why.
This book is full of references to local businesses and locations in the High Peaks area. That is what makes it a fun read. The mystery is pretty basic, but readable.

his is a buck full of local refrenes to buinesses and locations in the high peeks area, that is what maes it a fun read.

Tailspinners flash

A tale with as many twists and turns as the trails through the Adirondacks! Tailspinner provides another visit to Trout Run, NY and all the interesting characters that make a great story. As each scene unfolds I feel like I'm right there, helping to solve the mystery and save lives. A cozy mystery that keeps building in suspense as the full moon shines on Trout Run.

I read this book while finishing another, hence the longer span of time. There’s so much going on that’s suspicious, I couldn’t wait to find out how it was all connected.

Of course, I knew Charlie was suffering like Laurel, though I never suspected poor Billy getting stuck. A total surprise from the Flynn family side. Even the cat meant more than just being a stray.

Earl is my favourite, Frank is cool, and the situations and problems are interesting and unusual. Loved it!

Terrific!

This series is one of the best that I have read—- once started, I have read them straight through, in order. Characters are excellent and their interactions add much to the mystery. Each has a very different mystery, interesting plot, and a conclusion that is completely unexpected and shocking. Very talented author!!

A "lure" of a story indeed

Wow! So many characters and happenings in this story. It kept me intrigued right to the very last word. Just like a tail spinner lure it caught my attention right away and had me hooked. But I didn't know where the tail spinner (story) would land. Good suspenseful story. Thank you.

Another interesting mystery!

This 5 th book in such an interesting series of small town mysteries. The characters are detailed enough you feel like you know them and the outdoor descriptions are vivid of the Adirondack Mountains. Each one has twists and turns that you don’t expect till the very end. I am ready to read another one as soon as I finish one.

Another winner

Captivating from page one. A new church in town intrigues this small Adirondack town until people start acting strange. Frank Bennett and his deputy Earl are caught up in a mystery involving locals acting off and outsiders who seem a little too good to be true.
