Zoe Grayson never expected her mate to reject her. She also never expected her mate to be dating the same female that rejected her best friend, Wyatt.Zoe and Wyatt devise a plan to get back at their mates for rejecting them. But what happens when things move over into uncharted territory for them? And what will happen when a new, sinister, player is added to their game?Love After Rejection started out as a wattpad werewolf story in February 2018 . It gained popularity quickly and even won The Black Ink Awards' Best Werewolf Story and is in the running for more awards this year.
The book was ok. I read on KU, but it was originally on wattpad, so I am rating this very loosely, and expecting less than a more seasoned author.
I think I would have enjoyed it more, had it been more organized. It was too long and had too many moving parts. Parts of the book I enjoyed, but other parts I had to skim because it was just too much.
The book follows Zoe who is rejected by her mate Tai on her 17th birthday. Tai does regret his decision almost immediately, but he is stupid when it comes to his GF, and the damage is done.
Zoe and Wyatt (Zoe's BFF and the mate of Tai's GF) decide to pretend to be in a relationship to make their mates jealous. This part of the book isn't too bad, if you can look past the grammar/typo issues.
Then things start to go downhill fast. There are several sub plots going on...Amanda and Tai...Wyatt and Zoe... Zoe and Tai...Carter...Isadora and Matias then if that's not enough.... she throws in a kidnapping psychopath and his minions who get their own POV's. It was just too much, and I started not caring. I felt like the author decided that the more drama the better, so she just threw so much shit in the story. I didn't need POV's from every character, I didn't understand half of the details/events that were thrown in... like for example...what was the point of the scene with Jessica's parents? It added nothing to the story, nothing...It was weird and didn't fit.
Also, the constant back and forth with characters personalities were confusing. Sometimes you need to pick a lane... is the person bad or good? Does it add any substance to the story? If not, cut that shit out. This happened with Cian, the wolves (Isadore and Matias) and Wyatt. It was like they all had multiple personalities; it gave me a headache. For example, the wolves, within one chapter Zoe is irritated and angry, then she understands why they did what they did...then her "new wolf" is calling them parasites. I didn't understand the Wyatt part. She didn't have to make him turn into an ass. He wasn't standing in H & h's way, because it was pretend to her...but then the way Carter treated and turned on him was no different than what Wyatt did to Zoe. We were told repeatedly that Wyatt was bad because he was mean to Zoe and they had been friends since kindergarten, but Carter had been his friend too.
Overall, I hate to beat up on these types of books because in my mind the authors are young and new to their craft. But the writing was juvenile, the characters and plot development was all over the place. It is also in need to be proofread. There are numerous grammatical issues, several times the wrong word is used (form instead of from...tired instead of tied...plain for Pain) and character names are wrong throughout.
So much happened in this book I don't even know what to recap as a short summary so I'm going to pass on that for this one.
Needless to say I enjoyed the storyline quite a bit. I liked all of the main characters. Tai worked hard to get Zoe back and I really liked that she didn't just take an apology and forgive him. She made him work for it. I adored Carter. I adored Wyatt too (at least up until a certain point.)
I only had a couple problems with the book. First, it needs an editing. It's not bad, but bad enough it took me out of the story. Second, I have no idea why, but instead of just using italics to emphasize parts of sentences or paragraphs the author changed the color of the text to a royal blue. So many of the pages have royal blue on them and each time it gave me a bad headache. I'm guessing because my phone is set on dark mode because it's easier on my eyes and the bright blue contrast with it set off a headache that kept getting worse with each new use of the blue. Third, dear 'sweet' Wyatt who's Fourth, and last... the whole thing with Cian? That could've been left out. I wish it had been left out. Especially the It felt like a way to prolong the story maybe, but I felt it would have been enough without it.
The book was in Zoe and Tai's POV. Though it isn't labeled as such chapter 20 was in Wyatt's POV. Chapter 30 was in Cian's and chapter 31 was in Travis's.
I actually enjoyed the story, however the Author would get better reviews if she took the time to fix all the misspelled words and sentences. There's so many that it becomes annoying.
I love the story in this book, i don’t know why it took me such a long time to read it, it makes me think about how loyal human beens can be if only we can have the heart of other beens like wolves. I love every twist! Thanks Marissa for this great book! I loved it!
Wow! This book is amazing. Love after Rejection, it started like a high school romance with the female character been rejected by her mate. But the history evolves into a very traumatic, exciting and romantic a twisted kind a way. Zoe she is a very brave and strong female character, she has her best friends Carter and Wyatt they are loyal and protective of her. When Two rejected her they were by her side even when Wyatt is in love with her he always shows support and friendship. Cian poor Cian that break my heart he was a monster and a psychopath but in his twisted mind he truly loved Zoe and after all the torturing he inflict on her her tried to redeem himself. Tai oh Tai this kid got into my nerves he rejected his mate for a girl that was cheating on him, and he was so naive that he didn't believe his own father on that. No more spoilers. This a amazing book I didn't want stop reading because you get hooked from the beginning. You'll love the characters even the villain promise.!
I honestly couldn’t put this down and will have to secretly re-watch the show I pretended to watch with my husband. There were a couple of parts that were a little rough to get through, but I think it was a night well spent. Definitely enjoyable, look forward to more from this author.
Alright, so if you overlook the misspelled words, this was actually a pretty good book. I have to say that as a grown woman, I enjoyed it. It has several plot twists, a psychopath, a crazy chick, some good humor, and some really touching moments. So overlook the flaws, enjoy the book!
5 stars all the way! The plot was phenomenal, interesting & I could not put the book down. There are a few errors but nothing major that would make a reader lose interest. I wished there was another book. I would buy book 2
I downloaded this thinking I would read one story and read a completely different tale. I liked the mcs but the plot took a left turn at 50% in the book and didn’t come back around until 80%. I recommend it to someone with an open mind.
I’m not going to address the bad editing, that’s been said enough and it while there were a lot of mistakes I was still able to understand what was being said. My issue was the many many tropes used in this book, it was like the author wanted to include everything they could possibly think of. It jumped the shark for me, I did finish it but it was hard to do. If she had stuck with just one or two tropes not 30 and jumped all over with the plot and had read what she wrote to catch the many editing errors it would have been good. I’m assuming this is her first book and hopefully she will do better on her next ones. Also the graphic violence was absolutely unnecessary, and should have had a very big warning. There was on page cannibalism and torture. Not for me.
I enjoyed this book but it left we with a lot of questions unanswered. Like what happened to Cain family ( did he really kill them or was they rescued). What happened to his billions (did he leave everything to Zoe or his family if they are still alive). Did Wyatt get a second chance mate or did find someone else). And lastly, do Cain ever find redemption and have a real mate of his own?. It really was a good book and I enjoyed it. Was looking forward for all their stories to continue. Just think about it.
The story was good, the actions and characters great, the reason for the 3* is due to grammatical errors, there are many. The author has mixed up tenses too, so unfortunately the story did not read as smoothly as it should have. Also "sweaty" instead of "sweetie".(sorry that one just stood out) perhaps the author could asked someone to do a read through?
Zoe has had a rough life, orphaned young she was sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle in a new pack. She's adjusting her new family, made friends and eagerly awaits finding her mate. Only he rejects her and chaos ensues. Will she take him back or choose to be with her best friend instead? Dark in tone but I liked it.
I first found this book on Wattpad, however to finish the story I had to purchase here. It was a great read, even though there was a lot of grammar errors. It didn't take away from the story and if those are corrected most definitely would give a higher rating.
I thought it was ok. I liked the characters, but I thought some of the male characters was stupid. It took me a while finish this book. I’m glad that I read this from Kindle Unlimited because I don’t think I will read it again.
One of the greatest rejected mates story that I ever read!! The story line was very good and surprising to me And a really liked the writing . I was a little bit disappointed to find a lot of typos but other then that I loved this book!
This book is really fascinating and I highly recommend it as an exciting paranormal reading experience. The characters are compelling and the storyline weaves in unexpected ways. Forget the occasional editing errors and just enjoy.
Awesome plot, amazing characters and very well written landscape. I enjoyed this book including the semi cheesy scenes. The only thing that I will say is that this needs to be re-edited, but still a good book
It's a great story. I really enjoyed it, and i would recommended. The book has quite a few misspellings and grammar errors, but it's still a good book.
The spelling and punctuation needs edited so bad. There is even like 3 pages that are the same. It's like the author forgot where they were and rewrote it over.
Bad editing made what could have been an enjoyable read, intolerable! The story itself was good, however a few times I was close to giving up and declaring it a DNF.
