This is the first book that I have read from this author. According to Goodreads this author only has three books out, all published within a few months of each other. That being said, I would like to give some constructive criticism in this review. I know that I read this out of order but it didn’t seem to matter. Everything said in this review can be said about the first book. They both have a good outline but needs some work. Editing - the one thing that can make or break any book. It doesn’t need to be perfect but it also can’t be so bad that it takes away from what you are trying to say. You are telling a story that you want people to get lost in and enjoy but that is hard to do when you are tripping over the words. This book is full of simple mistakes that could have easily been avoided. There are also some that should have never been made like “full 180 degree circle” ... or when the hero is thinking about the heroine and uses her name when she hasn’t remembered it yet. I know I am always saying that I want more details but in this case, I need less. They get to be too much where it seems more like we are getting step by step instructions. This happens all throughout the book. There is also a difference in showing and telling. It is mostly telling in this book. It would be better if the useless explanations of mundane things were taken away and instead give us more to build a connection with the characters.
The characters were all very juvenile. Guys don’t just argue over whose muscles are bigger every chance they get. A mom calling her sons “husky, hefty, hunks” is very strange. People don’t actually speak like these people did.
From the description I kind of expected the hero to be all about helping the heroine and protecting her. Instead, he didn’t really want anything to do with her. We are told multiple times how much he likes playing the field and doesn’t want to settle down. We also get multiple encounters with a widow that didn’t amount to anything. Anytime I thought there was going to be some “suspense”, it didn’t happen. No actual suspense happens until the end. It seems like everyone was just going in circles around each other and it drove me crazy. How can they not put two and two together? Friend looking for her missing friend and a person that came in that has amnesia... In both books the characters seemed TSTL. The only connection I felt was for Bella, but Bella is also Cole’s dog. It annoyed me to no end when Cole kept ignoring her barking. Out of everyone, Cole seems to care the most for Bella and he just gets angry with her when she tries to alert him.

An absolutely fun and intriguing love story filled with mystery, intrigue and of course romance. This was a sweet story of a lovely girl in the wrong place at the wrong time. She loses her memory and finds an incredible family that go out of their way to help her. The characters were great and the storyline superb. I enjoyed this and recommend it to all lovers of HEA.
2.5 stars. Can’t round up because the hero pushed away too much. I thought he would have been more into her. It dragged a bit. I kind of liked the family. But not having read the earlier book, I felt I was missing some background.
Lindsey is a wolf life photographer who sees something she shouldn't. She crashes on the mountain and loses her memory. She found and slowly remember her life as she falls in love with Cole . Another great 👍book
An intriguing story with a bit of treachery and mystery thrown in. Add in a family of delightful characters and you have the makings of a good book. Read and enjoy!
The book is an amazing love story of Lindsay and Cole that is intriguing and entertaining. The characters are nicely developed. I appreciate reading this book.
Cole and his family owned a resort in the mountains and were gearing up for a busy season. They met for their family breakfast at the restaurant and each discussed how they had prepared for their part of the business and what help they might need. Afterward, they all went their separate ways to prepare for the guests needs.
Lindsay arrived in town and prepared to take photographs and work on her book. She particularly would be looking for an amazing winter-white Ptarmigan – a rare grouse -- nesting in the Colorado mountain ridges. In the summer, they turned brownish-gray to blend into the rocks and trees. Having pictures of both seasons would complete her book. She headed to the local diner to ask any hunters if they knew where the nests might be. With napkin-map in hand, she set off for the mountain. Unfortunately, she realized she had left her phone and ID back in her room; with darkness coming early, there was no time to go back or she would lose a day’s work.
As she followed the trail, Lindsay heard voices. Staying behind a tree, she watched them and heard one say the hole needed to be deeper so the body stayed buried! She decided to snap a picture of them and sneak away to report what she had heard to the police. But one of the men turned as she took the final picture and saw her! She turned and ran! They fired a gun at her and she continued to run as they gained on her. She got to her vehicle but dropped the keys in the snow as her hands shook in fear. She retrieved them and jumped into the SUV as a gunshot hit the door, and she sped off on an unfamiliar road to escape. She knew they could follow her tracks in the snow and drove even faster. When she came to an unexpected curve, she knew she would not make it, spinning out of control and slamming into a tree! Was this her final moment? Would the two murderers finish her off, or would she die in the freezing cold with her injuries and no way to call for help?
This was a good story, but an editor would have been useful for catching the incorrect words and miscellaneous errors that detract from the reading. What I like most is how the author presents the closeness of the family who run their resort together, each responsible for their own duties but always willing to help another family member when needed. It was a warm, welcoming feeling. And they treated their guests in a warm, welcoming manner as well. Even the dog was an important part of the family life. Although descriptions of the scenes were thorough, they sometimes sounded like a list of facts rather than smooth-flowing narrative. But overall, the book was enjoyable.
Beauty and the Beard is the second book in K.C. Crowne’s Bearded Brothers series. In this book we meet two dynamic protagonists—Lindsay Gemmen and Cole Hunter. Lindsay is a renown wildlife photographer. She is an independent woman until she becomes vulnerable because of collateral damage resulting from a traumatic event and near-death vehicular accident. Lindsay focused her efforts on her career that did not include any romance. Basically, her life is a solitary one. Cole is one of the Hunter brothers. He is an alpha male with bulging muscles, rugged looks, and kind heart. Cole suffers from a broken heart and vowed from early on never to let his heart get entangled with another. Lindsay, while out in the woods, witnesses two nasty-looking guys burring a wrapped carpet in an isolated wooded area. Suspecting criminal activity, Lindsey captures these two on her camera. What happens when they notice her? Will they let her get away? Will they pursue her? What happens when Destiny brings these two together? Will they acknowledge the electricity between them? Will they engage in a battle protecting their hearts? To discover the answers to these questions, you must read this book.
I enjoyed this well-written romantic suspense story. I appreciated Ms. Crowne’s ability to create well-developed primary and secondary characters. I thought it was a nice touch to have Bella, Cole’s dog, as a secondary character. I enjoyed that she tells their story through their points of view. This allows readers to fully understand the nuances of Lindsay and Cole’s personalities. I enjoyed how Lindsay and Cole offset each other during stressful scenes. I liked that she wove into this romantic suspense story the themes of loyalty, family, and love. I thought her mastery of descriptive language painted vibrant scenes involving characters interactions. She used descriptive language to paint vivid landscape scenes. Ms. Crowne’s use of authentic conversational and internal dialog contributed to her plot movement. There were a few times when I thought the rising action points were dragged out a bit. But these were few and far between. This was a worthy read. Way to go, Ms. Crowne
This is my first book by this author and Iwas excited by the synopsis but in reality I was thoroughly unimpressed.
For starters the book is described as being a hero romance, and yet the first time he 'saves' her he doesn't... If it wasn't for Bella (his dog) he wouldn't have even known she was there... The second time she could have gotten herself out if she had actually thought about it, instead of relying on her boyfriend to do everything for her.
I honestly couldn't find much to like about either of the mc's, it started off bland, with a lot of random joking between the brothers (was a little weird that they had only one joke between them), and Cole constantly pointing out hes a bacjelor and won't ever fall in love he seems a bit of a dick. Also he's professed to having saved her and yet would never have done so without Bella.
Then we have some of Lindsey... Shes so used to being outdoors, travelling and trekking and yet she forgets her phone and wallet? And she refuses to go back and get them and waste a day... How stupid is she?!? I mean she even points this out when she wakes up, after the accident. And then despite not knowing why she crashed or where she was headed - except towards some smoke - she randomly walks into the woods... She is TSTL
But the major players in town know that there is a girl with no memory or ID, and yet they never out 2+2 together... Knowing where abouts Lindsey went to look for the bird, why didn't Sophie think about talking to the local sheriff?? Wouldn't that have made everyones life easier?
I could have dealt with that - but some of the grammatical errors and general knowledge errors really annoyed me. Such as '180° full circle' hate to break it to you but basic math proves thats wrong. Random words were missed out, the way Cole's mother spoke about her children as 'husky hunks' or something like that is weird!
Bella is my favourite character in the book and she's a dog.
Going by the writing and editing I won't be reading anything else by the author

This story-line is a recipe for a good romance, a beautiful woman, Lindsey, who is an award winning wildlife photographer is stranded in the Colorado wilderness after experiencing a horrific accident and developing amnesia. Half frozen, she is rescued by an extremely handsome and rugged mountain man named Cole who owns and runs a mountain resort with his close-knit family. He has sworn off women due to previous heartbreaks but the mystery and danger that follows Lindsey keeps them in close quarters which would surely assure their quickly developing love connection, however the uncertainty of Lindsey’s “other” life threatens to prevent them from committing completely to each other.
Although I enjoyed the story and wanted to (and did) continue reading to the end to see if this couple would find their HEA, the writing is a bit weak in spots. The descriptions are extensive and sometimes seem almost too detailed and somewhat off track, until the last chapter which seems rushed and leaves too much not explained thoroughly enough. I did read an ARC copy which needed significantly more editing for grammar, typos and formatting. Although errors are mostly minor, there are quite a few. I hope it was edited more before being released as published. A bit more polishing would improve the story as well. There were a few areas where some reworking of the wording would significantly improve the writing. That being said, this is the first book I’ve read by this author, I enjoyed the story and would read another book by this author as I’m sure the writing will improve with each new book.
Woohoo that’s what I felt at the end of this book. It’s a fantastic read, it had me hooked from the first chapter. This is the second book in the series and although it can be read as a stand alone I do think it’s best to read in order as you get to hear how the family have been getting on since book 1 “ Her mountain Daddy” which I really enjoy doing. And I’m super excited to hear the stories for the other brothers and possible Sophie please? Lindsay is back on the mountain looking for a bird, the Winter white Ptarmigan to photograph for her book, she was a wild life photographer and loved being outdoors. But what she wasn’t expecting to find were two men in a criminal act, she had to run for her life sadly it being winter and the snow was falling that when she finally managed to get to her car she crashed into a tree and when she woke she had no memory of who she was. Cole and his faithful dog Bella had been busy all day. All Cole wanted to do was relax with a beer but when Bella started to bark and then ran off Cole was not impressed but he followed and was surprised to find a woman face down in the snow. She was so cold but thankfully breathing. This is a true love story and I would even go to say Love at first sight but Cole had been hurt before and he was happy to be single. Could there be a future for them? Would the men come after Lindsey? Would anyone miss Lindsay? This is a brilliant story. Makes me want to start reading the series again. I just love this family!!! I voluntarily read an ARC and now I’m leaving my honest review
This was the 2nd time read for K.C. Crowne and I'd like to tell you how impressed I am with her writing style. This is a wonderfully written romance book with an amazing storyline as well as terrific characters. Beauty and the Beard has adventure and drama and a love so strong you can't help but to continue all the way through from beginning to end. Lindsey, aka Stormy, is a World Traveling Wildlife Photographer and has found herself in a small town in Colorado, while looking for an illusive bird, she stumbles upon something that she never could of foresaw and so the storyline takes off. Cole, works for his close-knit Family at a resort. It's just him and his beautiful dog, Bella, until she makes a discovery of her own. Follow along as these two find themselves in a huge gamble with fate. Loved everything about this release, and all through the book there's another story going on that I can't wait to read between Sophie and Alec.
Please, K.C., keep these reads coming. I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Beauty and the Beard in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book.
The basis of the book was good. I did like the story.
Lindsay a professional nature photographer finds herself on the run from some criminal who she caught in the act. She crashes her car while fleeing the criminals. As she wakes up she can’t remember who she is or where she is.
Lindsay is rescued in the mountains by Cole, and his dog Bella. As she doesn’t know who she is he takes her in and they fall in love even though she has no knowledge of her past.
However, I couldn’t seem to move past all the errors that I had encountered in this book. As I received an ARC copy of this book, I know it wasn’t the final version that went live and was available for purchase. I do hope the editing team worked in this book before it went live and for sale as it did have numerous errors with grammar and punctuation. I wish I had a clean copy to have reviewed, as these errors were more consistent as we moved further and further in the book.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book, in which I am freely leaving a review.
Thrilling!💋INTENSE! Voluntarily review A captivating read that grabs hold of you right from the start keeping you on edge as the suspense filled storyline takes you through a twist of adventure bathing you in mystery and intrigue blood surging through you heartpounding mesmerized making it impossible to put down feeling like your there on the run hand in hand going through the motions as the drama unfolds taking you along for the ride! Enjoyable, intense, exciting, fierce, sweet, angst, adventure, mystery, unexpected twists, emotionally gripping and lip-biting delicious hot chemistry! An amazing must read! (Note: an ARC copy is just that ..An Advance Review Copy that you accept for Free taking all the flaws an editing issues not judging the editing flaws but looking past them and leaving your review based on the story itself. It irks me when I see reviews left based on editing issues when they agreed to accept the ARC for FREE knowing from the get go there would be editing issues.)
Lindsay, a professional photographer is in the mountains of Colorado to photograph a bird when she witnesses a group of men burying a body. She manages to escape but crashes her car into a tree. When Cole a part owner of the resort finds Lindsay unconscious near his home, he brings her back to his cabin. She is suffering from amnesia and is at a loss to what she was doing in Colorado. Cole knows there is something wrong but doesn't realize the seriousness of the problem. With murderers searching for Lindsay, how will Cole protect her? This superbly written story continues with intrigue, suspense, intense action, and unexpected twists leading to a HEA. If you're looking for an exciting plot that will keep you at the edge of your seat, “Beauty and the Beard” is for you. The only reason I didn't give this book a five star was that it was slow moving in the beginning. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Cole works at his family's resort and is the younger brother of Brad from a previous story. He finds a woman half-frozen in the woods and rescues her. Lindsey is on the run from men who want to harm her, but can't remember because she was in a car accident trying to get away from them. Cole takes care of her while Lindsey recovers.
The story was very good, however it gets 4 stars instead of 5 because I think there were dots that would have been connected in real life. Lindsey isn't a common name and it seems like the sheriffs in each town would have talked to each other. After a really long build-up, I felt the conclusion was a little rushed but I did enjoy it and look forward to reading about Cole's younger brothers.
This was a sweet romance with two characters willing to risk their hearts even though the outcome was very uncertain. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an ARC.
Cole and his family own a resort in the mountains. But when visitors get lost in the mountain, sometimes the Hunter boys have to go out and see what they can find and bring people to safety.
Lindsay was excited to finish her photography book, but she needed some pictures of a Ptarmigan to finish out the book. But when she gets directions from a local, she heads straight there, but not realizing she left her ID and phone behind. She decides to go without it since she wants to finish the project. But when she hears something in the woods and people start chasing her, will she get away? Can she navigate the mountain roads to herself back to safety to notify the authorities? Will she make it before they catch up to her?
This book has a great story and wonderful characters. It has plenty of twists and turns, love, lust, romance, mystery and mountain men!!! I recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book from the author.
I love the characters in this series and the Hunter brothers are quickly becoming my favorite. This is Cole and Lindsay’s story. Cole helps run his family owned resort in Colorado. He’s smoking hot, successful and one of the towns most eligible bachelors and he plans to stay that way. Or maybe not. Everything changes when he finds Lindsay a beautiful, sweet woman freezing, lost in the woods. The only problem is Lindsay can’t remember who she is or where she came from and danger lurks around every corner. Lindsay is running from someone and Cole is determined to figure who. The sparks between them soon catch fire and they can’t imagine being ever apart. What will happen when Lindsay gets her memory back? Will Lindsay and Cole find their HEA? I can’t wait to watch the next Hunter brother find love! “I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”

Lindsay sets out to take some wildlife pictures and Cole finds her two days later. Wildlife photographer Lindsay goes out to find a certain bird in its winter plumage when she come upon two men digging a hole and putting something wrapped in a carpet and manages to take some picture before they see her. One of them pulls a gun and she runs climbing up the slope back to her vehicle but as she speeds away she loses control and goes off the road down a steep slope. When she come to she has no memory so she climbs up and follows the road down but when she seems to be getting nowhere she sees smoke and strikes out in that direction. Cole's family run the lodge but he lives in a cabin with his dob Bella. When Bella takes off into the woods Cole follow and finds an unconscious woman who he take back to his cabin but when she wakes she has no memory. A Romance to relax and enjoy.
Lindsay is a wildlife photographer and finally has time to go after the pictures that will let her finish her personal book that's been on hold for years. What she stumbles on instead can get her killed and to make matters worse, she wrecks her rental and looses her memory while fleeing the scene. With no memory, no idea where she is and in the middle of a snow storm she stumbles toward smoke, and hopefully help. Cole is the "fix-it" man for his family's resort and ski lodge. When his dog leads him to a woman in the snow outside his cabin, can he fix everything for her before it's too late? Wonderful story, great characters and a fantastic read! Great follow up to the first book on these brothers. I look forward to the rest of the stories on these hunky mountain men. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am leaving my honest review.
Lindsay is a world famous photographer that is in search of pictures for her natural photography book. She ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately an accident causes her to lose her memory. Cole is helping run his family's resort when his dog Bella finds Lindsay in the snow.
Sparks start to fly from the beginning when Lindsay starts to slowly piece her life back together, but things are far from easy when the danger she was running from, comes back to get her. Of course Cole isn't going to let anything bad happen to the woman he has fallen in love with.
Really good. I love books that flow together as a series but can be read separately. I would definitely recommend this book and series! I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC book and am giving my honest opinion.
OMG! ONE FANTASTIC ROMANCE!!! Talk about hitting the ground running. This is one fast paced, action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, hard hitting, page turning bombshell that captivates from the start. You have a full range of emotions to sort through. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are descriptive and detailed it's easy to picture each scenario as it plays out perfectly. Crowne didn't pull any punches in this bad boy and built the suspense and danger throughout as the tension spirals. Crowne did an exceptional job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Crowne, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
The plot is ok, but I can't get past the utter lack of common sense or realistic reactions. First, no one would really wait to call the police about the accident, the police would be a good place for both Lindsay and Sophie to touch base with, though the police must be totally incompetent not to put the two together when each does make it in. There would be some communication in such as small geographic area. Logic would have Lindsay and Cole calling local motels and such looking for her room and items. Then on top of it all, the police don't have the motel surrounded to keep civilians out? Really!? All that's left to do is roll your eyes.
When Lindsey comes to Colorado to complete a wildlife photography book she is not prepared of what trouble she is running into. On a nature hike she is a witness to a crime but gets injured while trying to get away. Barely surviving in the wilderness she is finally discovered by Cole Hunter and rescued. With no ID, no money and no recollection of who she is Lindsey has to lean on Cole to find out who she is. Slowly Lindsey regains her memory but with that danger also returns and Cole is determined to keep her safe.
This book is a great read and beautifully settled in the mountains of Colorado. The Hunter Family is as close as family comes. This is book 2 in this series and I enjoyed it as much as book 1.
It is Cole’s turn to find his lady love. Lindsay is from New York and a famous photographer of nature. She went to Colorado to take pictures of a certain bird. While out scouting for the nest, she runs afoul of two men burying something and she gets pictures of them. They take off after her and shooting at her. She crashes her vehicle and cannot remember anything when she awakens and travels for two days before blacking out~ Cole and his brothers own a lodge in the mountains. He is at his cabin when his dog discovers a female. Cole rescues her and brings her in but she cannot remember anything. Someone has to be looking for her…slowly as her memories start to return, she will be recognized and she will be in danger…then what? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
It was good to get back to the ski resort and this endearing close knit family. Right from the start we get a new adventure and mystery to solve. Bella the wonder dog comes through again in this story. Lots of action and heat. I liked that Cole overcame his bad past experiences in love. He was kinda gun shy because of them and held himself back from Lindsay, at first. I think Cole and Lindsay seemed to fit well together and had great chemistry. I liked Sophie's character- she was an excellent friend to do all that she did. I'd love to read a story about Sophie and Alec. Sweet ending. I look forward to more adventures at the ski resort.
This book was an enjoyable surprise! It’s a little suspenseful with some steamy romance. Cole helps run his family’s resort in Colorado. A Hot hunky mountain man with his dog. Lindsay is a world renowned photographer in Colorado to get photos of a bird in its natural habitat. When she hikes into the woods one day she’s sees two men burying something. She runs to her car to escape and when she attempts to drive out of the forest she crashes her car. After wandering for two days Cole finds her collapsed in the snow. There is chemistry between the two but there is a problem. Lindsay has amnesia. This makes for a very interesting and entertaining book! Lots of steamy love! A great book!
Lindsay is a professional nature photographer. She is up in the mountains to take the last couple of picture to her book when she is witness to a crime. She escapes but her car hits a three and when she wakes up she can't remember who she is or why she is in the mountains. Cole one of the handsome brothers from the resort finds her and the chemistry between the two of them is strong. But what will happen when she remembers agin and is she in danger ? This is the second book in the series about the brother's from the resort. It was just as fantastic as the first one. Sweet romantic and so exiting. I loved it and I can't wait to read more
If a sense of danger and mystery mixed with a hefty husky hunk of a mountain man is what your looking for than hold onto your axe because this is your book!
