Trance is the third book in the Sleeping Court series and of course, I loved it. I listened to the audio version and once again Joshua Macrae makes an amazing story even better.
Things are starting to get serious, Verity and her court are on their way to the High Court to compete for the crown and things are getting very deadly. Poppy and Adora finally make an appearance and they are just what I expected, snobby, entitled, and pretty much a hot mess. They are all the things that are wrong with faerie and they won't stop unless someone can step-up and make them and unfortunately for Verity people are looking to her.
Verity is such a wonderful character, she trusts those around her and she trusts her instincts to guide her. While she knows she has the weakness of not growing up in faerie she doesn't let that stop her and she isn't afraid of asking questions when she doesn't understand things. Verity is generally nice, welcoming, kind, compassionate, and considerate and those around her can't help but feel that.
I especially love Verity and her guard, they are all so loving towards her and she to them, it's especially sweet considering that she has never had that closeness with anyone. She is a good person who is cared for and people can't help but like her, especially prince Aziz. The connection between Verity and Aziz is so really, they genuinely care for one another, it's such a shame that the curse is still active become I think Aziz fits so well into Verity's circle, I am hoping that someway they end up together.
The princesses from the other courts are present and they are a pleasant surprise. They are each so unique but also so welcoming towards Verity, they get along so well, Verity can't help but care for them and their guard. It was very interesting seeing the other princesses and their guard, to see how they interact with one another and how they interact with everyone else. It did make for great entertainment, especially Nymea of the Blood Court. Nymea is something else and her guard is crazy as heck, it's gonna be real interesting to read her series in this universe.
As for the story, Trance was perfection. There were balls, big events, sassy and shade being thrown, hot sexy scenes, poisonings, royal politics, clothes to die for, murder, a couple surprises and so much more. I loved every moment of this book and when I had to put it down, I couldn't wait to pick it back up again. Verity has grown so much through the series and it shows, it's gonna be up to her to set things right and I can't wait until she kicks Adora's and Poppy's butt and wins the crown.
