A pretty cute and short audiobook!

A Christmas Star definitely got me hyped up for the upcoming holidays. Unfortunately, I don't want to be near the beach or sunny weather - no I want all the snow that VA can give me. Just give me triple of what we usually get - seriously, I just want one giant ass blizzard!

Besides all of the holiday talk, trust me I know - Thanksgiving hasn't happened yet! Christmas is still way better in my eyes. Well, this book gives you Noelle North. She was about to get married on Christmas day when her fiancé left her at the alter. Or maybe he just never showed up because he had something better to do - like brush his nose hairs?

Since that dreadful day, she decides to randomly rent a cottage down in Florida. A huge change of scenery that I'm not one hundred percent comfortable with. Nothing against people who love sunny warm places for the winter holidays.. but winter is the BEST season ever. Along the adventure, she meets Jake. Instantaneous sparks flew (a little bit) but it did take him a while to finally realize that he needed her in his life.

Overall, it was a pretty cute book and I'm glad that I took a chance on it today.

Also, can it be Christmas time already?

A great intro to a new to me series with this sweet Christmas romance that reminds us to stay open to the small joys of life and to make time for things we enjoy as well as things that we want to do. The plot is quite intriguing with a strong female lead who barges into a family's life and takes over to save an elderly woman from caretaker abuse while the wealthy family is too busy to notice. Once she slaps them in the face with it, they have no choice but to sit up and take notice. Great characters who are well developed and draw you into the story. I am quite intrigued to read/listen to the next book in the series!

There was so much cuteness in this book. When we meet the main female MC she is on vacation from her family and job and finds a little boy. Well does this not set her maternal clock into overdrive. When she discovers that his grandmother is being abused by her caretaker she jumps into action. Insert the grandson, Jake. These two are not a love at first type kind of thing. She actually doesnt like Jake after the first time meeting him. She has been guarded of her heart after having her heart broken by her ex-fiance who fancied money maybe a little too much. Add in some more family drama with both Noelle and Jake's families and you have a love story in the making.
I found this book to be a quick listen and no extra unneeded fluff. Straight to the point, maybe even a little too quickly at times.

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book! As most of Mrs. Keim’s books do, it sucked me in from the beginning and was hard to put down (obviously since I read it in one afternoon). I can honestly say that today was the first time I have ever finished a book with tears of joy in my eyes!

I downloaded this free on Kindle because all my holiday reading requests are still on hold at the library, I wanted something Christmasy, and figured why not? It was short, sweet, implausible (they're engaged after two weeks!) with simple writing, but it was an entertaining way to kill time between books. Rounded up to 3 stars because it kept me in a good mood, but entirely forgettable. Hoping my other Christmas reads are available soon!

So much to follow here, but it flows well. You learn early on to care for the boy, his dog and his great grandma, then comes more characters and you can’t help but enjoy them too.
I feel a few things were left in answered but for the part, it was a very enjoyable read.
Do I want to go to Florida now and stay in this cottage? Absolutely

Heartwarming Christmas story

A Christmas Star is a heartwarming Christmas story featuring endearing characters. So many Christmas books are set in snowbound places...it was a nice change to read a Christmas story that takes place on a warm sandy beach!

This was an amazing story that I could not put down. It had me laughing out loud and it had me in tears at the end.
Noelle North is a health director at an assisted living home. She was engaged and on her wedding her fiance ran off with an ex who was his best friend's wife. She does not trust men and he was very wealthy and used to buying anything he wants. When 4 women at the assisted living tell her she needs a vacation and tells her about a cottage in Florida. As she gets there she meets up with a little boy named Silas and she sees how his grandmother is being mistreated and abused and she takes charge right there and then. Which sets off the whole store. Noelle is a very independent woman who likes to help others but does not want any of their money. The relationship between the boy, Silas, and herself was so heartwarming. How the 2 other men treat her is funny as well. So you know this is a romance and probably how things will end up but getting to that part is what drew me in and watching them all interact with each other. Noelle isn't much of a cook and she wants to get better at that as well.
I received this from the author for an honest review.

Noelle North needs a Christmas break. Christmas is not a happy time for her, so she leaves Boston to spend time in a beautiful Cottage on the ocean in Florida. Little does she know, this will change her life.
As she is walking on the beach one morning, she meets a young boy named Silas, who becomes such a part of her life. When Nicole , a nurse, realizes that Silas’ grandmother is a victim of elder abuse ,by her caretaker , Noelle goes right into action. She fires the woman and finds herself taking over.
Jake Bellingham has no idea what is happening to his son and grandma.
Nicole hates Jake Bellingham before she even meets him, she thinks of him as spoiled and privileged and use to buying his way and people.
I loved this story, Jake and Nicole are so perfect for each other, if they can just clear the air!
I would do like to vacation at this cottage ! I am now such s huge fan of Judith Keim

Noelle North
Jake Bellingham

Noelle, who is a nurse at a senior community facility, has six weeks of freedom on the Gulf Coast of Florida to make a fresh start and move forward with her life after being dumped at the church on her wedding day. Nicole’s first day she sees a little boy, Silas Bellingham, on the beach with his dog and asks if he is alone and he says no and points to where his great-grandmother sits on the deck. The next day she see Silas again and they go to meet his great-Grandmother, as Noelle is talking to Althea she see bruises on the woman’s arm and finds out the Nurse-caregiver is abusing her, so Noelle immediately sends her packing, thus now involving herself in Althea’s and Silas’s life. Noelle meets Jake by phone the first time when she tells him she just got rid of their nurse/caregiver. She also meets his brother Brett in person when he shows up later to help Noelle. This is a very good book. The relationship between Noelle and Silas is amazing they immediately form a bond. Jake is one of the hotel owners who has just had extra responsibility added due to trying trying to locate his parents who were in a plane crash in Colorado. Jake and Noelle are both trying to move forward after bad ending’s to their previous relationships. Jake and Silas have a good relationship. Jake and Brett realize they want to have more of a family life and not work as much as their parents. Jake and Noelle form a good relationship as Jake comes to value Noelle’s opinion on things and appreciates her involvement with Silas. I would definitely read more books by this author.

A Christmas Star by Judith Keim. It is the first book of the Seashell Cottage series which are standalone books all connected by the cottage. Two years ago, Noelle North’s fiancé left her at the altar on Christmas Day. She cannot endure another holiday season at home. She rents the Seashell Cottage on the Gulf Coast of Florida for the holiday. One day while walking along the beach, she meets Silas Bellingham, a young boy, and his dog, Duke. Noelle comes to learn that his great-grandmother, Althea, is being abused by her caretaker. A trained nurse, she is spurred into action. Soon she meets Silas’ father, Jake. Jake and Noelle immediately start butting heads. After getting off on the wrong foot, Jake realizes that Noelle is just what the family needs. Can the Christmas season be healing for them all?
A Christmas Star is a story of healing and the miracles of Christmas. All the characters are nursing broken hearts and hurts from broken relationships to the death of the loved one. Each character finds themselves opening up to new love and new possibilities as well as healing and learning to move on. Noelle has a heart for others but hides her own broken heart. Jake is a broken man who has poured himself into his work. And a little boy whose innocence and wonder will bring them together. It has a Hallmark holiday feel. It is a great read for the holiday season or any time one wants to recapture the magic and possibilities of Christmas and love. It is a sweet, second chance romance with a bit of Christmas magic. I recommend A Christmas Star.

A Christmas Star is available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook

I received an ARC to read and give my honest opinion. This book made me cry, made me mad, made me happy, made me chuckle and had me wishing that things would get better for them all.
I know it is just a book but Judith writes so I feel like I am right there with them. I was so mad when the great-grandmother was being abused by the nurse, who her great-grandson, Silas, called Mrs. Wicked. Thank goodness Noelle arrived on vacation. She was what was needed to help this family.
The story is like life, things aren't going smoothly but Noelle is the woman who is helping them heal. Silas hasn't had a Christmas tree since his Mom died and Noelle didn't like Christmas anymore since she was left at the altar at Christmas. But the two find a way to have a Christmas tree that is so different. But they must find the perfect star and Silas knows everything will be all right them. 4 days before Christmas, Noelle and Silas's father still hasn't found the perfect star. You just have to read this book to find out if they find it. But I know you will enjoy every page of this book finding out the answer. Be sure to have some tissues handy.

But meeting Silas and his family, especially his father, changes everything for Noelle. The Bellinghams are trying to get through these holidays while morning the loss of the their parents. I am giving this book 5 stars for several reasons -good grammar, lovely vocabulary, accurate spelling and punctuation, not dragging, and vivid desctiptions. But mostly because I want to celebrate finding a love story with mature, responsible, grown up characters. I am a voracious reader and in the last week I have abandoned 3 books because the FL in each one was silly, snarky, "you're not the boss of me", "I can take care of myself without your help despite my ex Special Forces body guard having his throat ripped out in my apartment" kind of bratty child/woman. Novels with a FL like Noelle are hard to find. The story moved me to tears because these families were like the ones so many of us dreamt of...close-knit, loving, self sacrificing, ethical, good-hearted people who do the right thing. I read it in one day and it left me with a very good feeling.

A fun Christmas read. Noelle North, born in Christmas, has come to dislike the holiday after being jilted bu her fiancé. Looking for a holiday escape, the Seniors at the assisted living facility where she works, convince her to rent a cottage in Florida. Determiner to let the holidays pass uneventfully, her plans are disrupted when she meets a young boy Silas and his dog Duke. Noelle steps in to advocate for his elderly great grandmother being abused by her caretaker. The wealthyBellingham family presents a challenge for Noelle’s resolve to bypass the holidays. Silas is looking for a Christmas miracle and his handsome father Jake complicates the picture.

What does the future hold for Noelle? Will Silas find his Christmas Star?

Noelle is a registered nurse that helps the elderly. She's on a vacation for six week to avoid celebrating Christmas since the idea of the holiday is not appealing anymore after being left at the wedding altar two years prior. Noelle then meets Silas and Althea, his great-grandmother with an abusive caretaker. So, Noelle throws her out of the house and decides to take care of Silas and Althea for the time being.

I love it so much! It's very simple, the plot was not heavy so don't expect much complications between the characters. I appreciate that Jake and Silas went to see a psychologist and seek help. As well as that Jake and Noelle were able to communicate with each other.

Overall, if you're looking for heartwarming Christmas read, this is the one.

Judith Keim has become one of my go-to authors when it's time for a reading pick-me-up. A Christmas Star gave me the jolt I needed after a slump. Though true to Keim's standard beachy theme, it's far from the traditional romance formula, providing unique elements of interest, atypical to most fast reads.

In this case, Noelle, who heads a nursing care facility in Boston, meets a little boy while on vacation in Florida. After discovering the elder abuse of his great-grandmother, she becomes intimately connected with his family, and the book takes off from there.

What a unique plot! Highly recommend.

I bought it because it had good reviews, and it sounded like a sweet Christmas book. And to be fair, I did manage to read the whole book. It was pretty asinine though. All of the characters were dull. The love story was terrible, this bizarre rush. It basically seemed like the busy, rich man wanted a free babysitter. And the whole christmas tree thing was dragged out and just, well asinine. Sorry, I hate writing bad reviews, but I was a bit annoyed to have been sucked in by the good reviews-I mean, really? 5 stars?

Heartwarming

A CHRISTMAS STAR is the most heartwarming story I have read! Judith Keim gives readers a story which is hard to put down and one which is filled with many happily ever after moments!

Moving on can sometimes be the hardest thing a person can do, but in this book the main characters persevere and find themselves in the place they had desparately longed be and with the person they thought they'd never find.

A CHRISTMAS STAR left me with the warmest feelings of contentment and happiness. Ms Keim's books never disappoint and I absolutely love reading her works!

Christmas romance

Just finished this wonderful book. Noelle works at a retirement centre and is very close with 4 of the elderly women. As a treat they booked a seaside cottage for her in Florida so she could have a break. She loves the cottage and while out jogging on the beach befriends a small boy who is staying with his grandmother. After seeing that the new caregiver is abusing her, she orders her off the property then phones the boys father. She ends up being involved with the family and life suddenly takes on new meaning

A Christmas Star was as I expected: predictably sweet, feisty people with past relationship difficulties not looking for another, tragedies, a gaggle of cute older women, a cuter kid, a dog, and a beach at Christmas. Some of the language was stilted and a bit too formal for the story and sometimes moods changed in a blink.

BUT the story is engaging . . . and yes, I was in tears at the end.

4 stars. I enjoy Judith Keim

Great feel-good Christmas story

Noelle suffered a terrible betrayal by her ex-fiance and has steered clear of relationships, especially with rich men. She goes on a long vacation from her job in an elder care facility over Christmas to Florida to avoid the holiday festivities in her hometown. She befriends a little boy and saves his great grandmother from an abusive caregiver. Read the book to find out how the story ends. I found this to be an uplifting story.

What's not to like about this beautifully written Christmas story? It has wonderful characters throughout, a Florida beach house as a setting, a charming little boy who wants a new mom, and Noelle. Toss in The Three Muskateers +1, handsome Bellingham men and of course, Seashell Cottage. Stir it all up and you have a lovely Christmas story. It was, to me, perfect! Well written and earning 5 stars from me!

Lovely, romantic, and hopeful

I'm so happy that I read this story. I was drawn into everyone's lives, and it made me smile. I am stuck in my room after foot surgery, and this helped me forget my pain and immobility for hours. Thank you for bringing the Christmas spirit into my heart. Noelle is a strong, opinionated, caring and vibrant woman who makes the world better for all those lucky enough to meet her.

Sweet Christmas Story

For such a little boy Silas has had a lot of loss in his life. First his mother, now his grandparents are missing, and his Dad and uncle are constantly working. So while staying with his great grandmother, he meets Noelle on the beach. Noelle is instantly drawn to the adorable little boy. But when she steps in and takes control of him and Nana, it’s the end of her vacation.

I am doing my usual Christmas thing of reading Christmas-themed books since I’ve passed my Goodreads goal for the year. Not surprisingly this one was a little silly. It had potential, and I liked that the heroine was intensely independent and fell first for the little boy she met before the love interest with his dad. But seriously - he had to be ultra rich and ridiculously handsome and super kind? Just not believable. And it was clear in the very first chapter how the story would end.
