Fitting Christmas in a shoe box has been her mission…until now. Audria Rylatt is the school system’s liaison for homeless students. She strives to make Christmas bright for hundreds, while the season brings only heartache after her fiancé was killed in combat nearly two years ago. So when her family decides to play matchmaker, she is less than thrilled. To make matters worse, they’ve invited a soldier friend of her deceased fiancé to the family cabin for the holiday. But she’s surprised to find this soldier, Quinton Nolan, standing at the door of heart. Faced with painful memories, the despair Christmas brings her, and the fear to love again, Audria is in desperate need of a Christmas miracle. Or at least some of the hope Christmas seems to offer so many. Can she embrace a new mission? If so, Christmas may stand to deliver a lifetime of magical memories. “Christmas on a Mission” is a delightful story of hope, life, love, and second chances, filled with all the joy and cheer Christmas brings.

I only read 72% of the book before deciding I wasn't going to waste my time finishing it.
The writing style was good, and the snowy cabin in the Smoky Mountains sounded lovely. I was also interested in the fact that two of the guys (main character's brother and friend) were in the army. I liked that the main character was helping school children in need. Other than that, I didn't care for it.
Things I didn't like: 1. There were several euphemisms used. 2. After the 3rd swearing that could maybe have been a prayer, but didn't really sound it it, I gave up because I didn't want to risk coming across another use of my Savior's Name misused. 3. Several hints of a married couple "doing things" that would have been fine if the author hadn't made others react so that you knew what they were "going to do." Why is it important to know those things? 4. The main character is attracted by the physical features of an army guy without his shirt on (described). Sorry, I don't need that image in my head. 5. The help given to the homeless, or poor school children as all temporal. Christ was not shared. There were so mention of praying, but I found it a bit difficult to reconcile with the swearing. There was talk of personal embarrassing moments that could have been left out. And I never liked the father even if he was an army veteran. He was whining, overbearing, argumentative, crass, and I found him unfeeling in some ways.
I just didn't really care for this story and don't recommend it or plan to finish reading it.
I really loved this story. The theme of new beginnings, especially surrounding Christmas time, was a lovely nod to the birth of the Savior.
I loved the characters, the setting was beautiful, and it was completely clean with no swearing and chaste romance other than kissing. It also had lots of Christian content.
The only reason I deducted a star was because the editing needs spruced up. There are extra words throughout where it looks like the sentence was changed but an extra word was left behind. I'm a grammar snob, and it wasn't enough to make me stop reading.
Overall, I recommend this to those who enjoy contemporary Christian romances and Christmas romances.
New-to-me author. Smooth and sweet writing style, perfect for anyone looking for a clean, faith-based hometown heartwarming "Jesus is the reason for the Season" romance. Solid 3.5*
Christmas is filled with joy for so many, but with grief and despair for so many others. After two years Audria was still grieving the Christmastime death of her fiance. She did her best to channel her emotions into relieving the holiday sadness for the homeless students of the community. While she was not wallowing in her grief, she was not yet prepared to move on. Quinton Nolan was deployed with Maddox, Audria's brother. While Maddox was Quinton's boss, he was also his friend, and he saw in Quinton the type of man his sister needed. Although he was not your typical matchmaker, Maddox worked hard to introduce them and give them the opportunity to get to know one another, so see if there was a spark. In Christmas on a Mission, Hannah Conway deals with the tough topics of grief and fear, tempered with faith, love and humor. She allows her character the space to learn just what it will take for her to be able to “open up” and “move on,” and the freedom to do so at her own pace. Readers will laugh and cry as they are touched by the active expressions of love in this story. I received an advanced reader copy of Christmas on a Mission as a beta reader and member of the launch team for this book. I was asked for an honest opinion and was under no obligation to write a positive review.

This book is everything you want in a cozy, winter novel. Though I had to put it down a few times because of work, I would have read it in one afternoon if possible. Love these characters and their faith and love which led them to make the decisions that they do. A great reminder in this story of how we just never know how our lives will intersect with different people and how those connections can influence so many things. Also, as a Christian who has struggled with decisions in my life, love the message weaved into the story that if we just turn it over to God, he will reveal to us the wisdom to make the best decisions. Very much looking forward to Hannah's next project!

Love and healing and learning to trust again. This was hard for me to listen to with the emotional upheaval of the past year but it was refreshing and healing at the same time for me and helped me as it did the heroine in the story. Great narrator!
She is out shopping on Black Friday for empty shoe boxes Still needing about 50 more, to fill with items for homeless students, for Christmas. Going to the cabin to celebrate the new year, a family tradition, but sad memories for Sam the proposal, then the loss of Clay. That is why she works with the homeless children to help her aching heart.Sending one to her brother Maddox every month. Now he is asking for 30 of them to give to the guys under his leadership. Nothing too big, say shoebox size with cookies, they love the ones she sends. How to pull it off, his idea “Adopt a Unit” to help with putting them together. Then telling her a friend is coming with him to the cabin, and looking forward to meeting her. No, is coming from her, she doesn’t want to date, nor have a man in her life. A brother looking out for his sister.Delightful, enjoyed reading, of what she does for the Christmas, maybe love finds her again at the cabin.
I started reading Christmas on a Mission in the afternoon when I had other things I needed to be doing, but once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down. I read the whole book in a matter of hours. The characters and settings were so real. I live near Clarksville and honestly, I had no idea until the closing notes which locations were actual locations and which were fiction. I would have sworn the school was real. I'm really hoping the Mexican restaurant is so I can go eat there. It also makes me want to go rent a cabin in Gatlinburg.
The characters were so vividly drawn. They each felt like friends. I'm pretty sure I know these people. I know I'll be thinking about them for a while.
What a wonderful Christmas story! I laughed and I cried.
How does one move on after losing someone? Audria's fiance was killed in battle. What was her brother thinking when he set her up with another soldier? Sometimes the pain is just too overwhelming to begin again, especially when choosing to date another soldier. One loss is more than Audria can bear.
*I was given a copy of this book by the author and was under no obligation to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
Christmas books are always at the top of my reading list, as are romances. Factor in soldiers and care packages and you've defiinitely got me. "Christmas on a Mission" was all of that, and more. I was touched by Ms. Conway's obvious love of God and her willingness to put Him front and center. I'll definitely be looking to read more of Ms. Conway's books.
I enjoyed reading about Audria and Quinton’s love story it felt real and romantic. This book was about a healing heart that needs to let go of the past and move on. I liked the involvement of God and the answered prayers through out the story. A lovely story to read during Christmas or the holidays!
This was so stinking cute! It has Hallmark movie written all over it. This will definitely get you in the Christmas mood. I enjoyed this novella and read it in one day. *I was given a copy of this book by the author and was under no obligation to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
Love the characters in this sweet read that takes place leading up to Christmas. Fun and funny moments and living their lives with help from God make a story that is enjoyable and one I could identify with.
Enjoyed this story of Audria and Quinton. Both had their pasts to move on from. I appreciated the depth of faith each of these characters displayed. It was an encouragement to me.
Moving on in life after a great disappointment is something most of us can relate to. Sympathy and understanding make Christmas on a Mission a feel good book.
I listened to the audiobook and found it enjoyable. It shows the courage it takes to move on after the loss of a fiancé and discovering that God is our healer. His plan is for good and makes beauty for ashes. I loved the family unity and how they bantered back and forth. A good Christmas or anytime read or listen. Made me smile. I received a complimentary audible code from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Enjoyable short read. A bit romance, a bit of humor, and a character learning to let go of the past to embrace new love. First time reading this author and I will read from her again.
