She’s in her own world, and I’m nothing but a spectator.
Ok. I liked this book, but all I could focus on was how unnecessary so much of one characters POV was. I realize this is blurbed as a triangle, but after a certain point I didn’t need anymore from the one character. Her POV totally took me out of it and actually made me like the endgame couple less and hate her more. I felt like I was reading two books, and one I wasn’t interested in at all.
I don’t read triangles often if ever, so maybe this is common and I’m clueless, but the third POV was a fail for me.
Other than that the story is good. The characters are frustrating but I love Taylah so much I can almost forgive everything else. Almost.
I didn’t read the first book, so that may be why… but I was VERY confused at the beginning. The first book is his twin brothers who went to jail for something, but before he had sex and a kid with Sasha, the girl Hendrix (Drix-this H) is hung up on. I’m not sure if we get more background with that book, but it appears he loved her, but they were never really a couple. She lost her virginity to someone else and had sex with his brother.
In the prologue he has sex with her (Sasha) for the first time ever (this is where I was confused) I think they are 30-ish. It says he’s loved her since they were 15 and has given her enough time to metaphorically shit or get off the pot (15 years). It just felt weird that he’d waste so much of his adult life over a woman that yanked his chain that he was never with.
Regardless, he leaves for eight months and starts up with Taylah when he returns which makes Sasha sort of panic at the thought of losing her devoted puppy. (This is all in the blurb)
That’s right, Sasha. Years. Years, I’ve been trying and now you’re ready, I’m supposed to just jump for you?” “Are you hearing yourself right now? Years I’ve put up with your indecisiveness and now you see a little competition and you want to stake your claim?”
Love triangles really aren’t my thing, but this wasn’t too bad. It helped that Sasha and Drix never had a real relationship. It felt more like he was in love with the idea of her but went on about his life… screwing others. Taylah is not the typical h you see, she’s very direct and open sexually. She’s the aggressor and blunt that she wants in his pants. It worked for me because I felt like Drix needed someone to kick him in the ass.
I never really felt like Sasha was a threat, but I did feel like she had too big of a presence in this book. I didn’t need her POV and found it distracting. IMO, it only reinforced how self-centered and selfish she is and made me dislike her more. I DEFINITELY won’t be reading her book which is next.
Bottom Line- It was ok…I can’t say it was 4 bucks good… but I picked this up as a freebie so I’ll round it up. It could’ve been a solid 3 if the ending wasn’t so rushed. The epilogue helps, but I wish he would've worked harder maybe thrown out a grand gesture before the HEA.
***kinda spoiler-ish. I hate spoilers but I'm going to break one of my own rules because...Hendrix. Revive is a story about how new love can heal and eclipse old scars. Hendrix was battered and broken by an old "love" - his childhood friend, Sasha. Although loved by the boy she desperately wanted, Sasha couldn't get past her own insecurities, and made herself into the person she feared she was. Despite her biggest shortcomings, and the many ways she hurt him, Hendrix somehow found it in his heart to still want to be with Sasha. After a desperate attempt to distance himself from Sasha by traveling the world, Hendrix returns home and meets the bold and beautiful Tayla. Is his heart ready to let Sasha go? READ Revive and find out! While I enjoyed Hendrix's story immensely, I didn't give 5 Stars because there were occasional areas of the plot where I found myself confused or missing something the characters referred to in conversation, and even after re-reading passages wasn't any closer in discovering what it was. A few areas weren't as cleanly written as the rest of the book was. Overall an enjoyable read. Happy reading!
This is my first book by this author and can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into Revive but it wasn’t what I was expecting. Just from reading the synopsis I’d already picked which woman’s ‘team’ I was on. I changed my mind fairly quickly though and fell in love with the woman I was determined not to like.
Drax has always put everyone first, he’s made sacrifices and somewhere along the way he’s lost sense of who he is. Having a complicated, turbulent relationship for years with Sasha hasn’t helped and he finally reaches the point to say enough is enough. Leaving for a few months is exactly what he needs and when he returns home he meets Taylah, his brothers girlfriends best friend, and the chemistry between them is off the charts from the start. I adored these two together. The chemistry and the banter, their first real meeting is perfect and Taylah is a hard character to not love. But can she compete with the woman he’s loved since he was fifteen years old?
This book was everything I love in a romance. The banter and chemistry are perfect, the relationship Drix shares with his brother is another thing I loved and there’s just the right amount of angst to get your blood pumping. This may be my first book by Marley Valentine but it definitely won’t be my last.
Oh my heart!!! The perfect follow up from Reclaim. The author has yet again blown me away with her words and this amazing story!
There is so much emotion packed into this amazing book. I had all the heart eyes at some points, in others my heart broke for the characters. The writer has this way of making you feel the emotions of her characters...
I feel that her writing takes on an almost poetic feel at times. Her description of the characters eyes or a characters facial reaction is absolutely stunning.
I will tell you... I almost threw my Kindle a few times, but it was SO. WORTH. IT.
I absolutely recommend this one. Hendrix's story is one that will absolutely stay with me for a long time!
Phew! I'm so glad the story ended the way it did because if it went the other way, I feel that I would have been writing an angry review with way too many exclamation marks in order to get my butt hurt feelings across.
Oh how I loved this book!! We met Drix, Sasha and Taylah in Reclaim. I already had a soft spot for him and was crazy excited when I found out he was getting a book of his own.
This one broke my heart more than once. I might have sent a few rants PMs while reading... There's history, there's hurt and there's hope. It's the kind of story that breaks your heart while also making you hopeful that true love will win out.
Marley is the Queen of swoon worthy kisses in her books and this one gave me all the feels yet again. Drix is the perfect blend of dirty and delicious. And don't even get me started on the chemistry - wowsa!!
“Fuck, Crazy. Stick me somewhere before I blow it like a teenager all over your fucking hands.”
While it's a triangle I was very much on one team from the very beginning and even though not everyone gets their HEA I was thrilled with how their stories unfolded.
Marley Valentine is a relatively new author to me, but each book of hers I have read has been beautifully written with well developed characters, so I knew going to Revive, I was in for a wonderful treat. This book did not disappoint. There was the perfect blend of angst, emotion, swoon worthy moments and hope. This book is Drix and Sasha's story. Its a story of love, hurt, betrayal, secrets and life choices that sent them on different paths. They are brought together many years later and have yet to heal the hurts of the past. Will Sasha continue to hold the keys to Drix's heart and his happily ever after or will Taylah the crazy, sexy girl who Drix finds utterly intoxicating patch up the broken pieces of his heart? Revive is a wonderfully emotional read that hooked me from page one and left me rooting for Drix' HEA.
Marley Valentines words continually blow me away, they have the ability to hit you right in the feels and wreck you beyond compare.
Revive is the second instalment in the u#RedemptionSeries and it is all about Hendrix Michaels (who you meet through #Reclaim.) Drix is the kind of guy you want in your life, he was there when his twin brother went to prison, he was there to help raise his brothers daughter Dakota and he did it with the burden of carrying a broken heart.
Sasha was Drix’s world, they were childhood friends which evolved into so much more. Sasha was it for him and he was it for her, until her own self conscience got the better of her and she irrevocably damaged little pieces of them. He said he would always be there for her whenever she was ready but at what cost.
Taylah is fun, flirty and feisty and the best friend of Emerson. Drix and Jagger spend a lot of time together so it’s inevitable that Taylah and Drix will cross paths, what he wasn’t prepared for was how refreshing it was to be around someone like her. Someone so sure of herself, someone who has a career and a funny Witt. He’s a hit it and quit it kinda guy with a massive heart, would she be open to a little sexy fun.
Sasha has always been a constant in Drix’s life, but is the pain of the past too much to move on from or could there be something new in his future that starts to heal his heart?
Queue the heartache and emotion with this one it’s going to hurt. Recommended Read
This is my first Marley Valentine book and she just made me swoon HARD!
Drex (oh lord!) this man is the perfect specimen of a man that any woman would kill for. Not only does he have the "looks", but he also has a heart of gold. A man who always, and I mean always puts everyone above himself.
Drex has been in love with Sasha since they were teenagers and he went as far as professing his love for her, but Sasha has always been a complicated girl who had self-esteem issues and never in her wildest dreams think that Drex would want to be with a girl like her. She was very insecure and due to her insecurities, she ended up losing him.
Drex has had enough and it's been now 15 years and his relationship (or non-relationship) with Sasha has gone far enough and he needs to find himself so he leaves for several months before he returns. Once he returns he starts up a friendship with Taylah and he feels that strong chemistry they have going.
The question is, can he move on and start something with Taylah who is a good woman and can make him happy or will he continue to pine over a woman that he knew he never had and never will?
This love triangle was one of those that I knew from the beginning who I was rooting for and I was very happy with the outcome in the end.
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Life is full of difficult choices. One of the most difficult and heart wrenching of Hendrix ‘Drix’ Michaels’ choices is which woman to spend his life with.
Drix has loved Sasha for most of his life. But time after time she has refused the heart that he has offered her. Finally having had enough of Sasha’s indecision and rejection, Drix makes the choice to let her go and try to move on with his life.
Enter Taylah, the sassy, smart friend of Drix’s brother’s girlfriend. The attraction between these two is instant and obvious. They have an amazing rapport, with the potential for a deeper connection.
But Sasha is never far from Drix’s mind. When she finds out that Drix may be getting serious about Taylah, she decides to fight for the man who has loved her for so long.
Drix’s heart and mind are both in turmoil as he makes the choice of where is future happiness lies. Will it be the woman from his past, or the woman who came crashing unexpectedly into his life?
This book will crack your heart open right from the start, and keep prying it open further with each new emotionally charged scene. And just when you think your heart can’t handle any more, Marley will take the jagged edges of it and piece it back together.
Revive by Marley Valentine is a beautifully written, heartfelt story. This is the second installment in the Redemption Series, it’s about Hendrix Michaels. We previously met him in Reclaim, he is Jagger’s brother.
Drix, is the most selfless person he puts other’s ahead of himself. He has a heart of gold! He has loved the same girl for fifteen years. Unfortunately that girl.....Sasha can’t seem to get her act together. Their relationship is like a revolving door and toxic for them both. Drix’s heart can’t take the constant torment from Sasha any longer. The time has finally come to move on with his life! Will he be able to?
When Drix meets Taylah she’s the total package, caring, sexy, sassy, and a bit on the wild side. Just the woman he needs to help him reclaim his life back. I loved the fun and sexy banter they had between them. I was intrigued to see where their relationship was headed. Who will Drix choose, his first love Sasha who has hurt him over and over again? Or Taylah the spunky girl who helps mend his broken heart back together? You’ll have to one click this one to find out!
Wow, I was eagerly waiting for this book to be released and I wasn't disappointed. Once again, Marley has pulled at my heart strings while waiting to see who would win Drix's heart once and for all. A love triangle like no other, Hendrix is forced to choose between the two loves of his life, his first love and and the crazy, beautiful love, who walked into his life at the right time. Who will he choose? The one who hurts him over and over again? Or the one who helps him find himself again? Pick up this book and find out. You won't be disappointed.
Revive is a great story. After meeting Hendrix in his twin's story Reclaim, I knew I needed to read his story to find out if he finds his happily ever after. Drix puts everyone before himself, whether is family, work, friends. He loves hard and is so caring. Sasha is the girl next door who he's always loved and supported, but she doesn't want a relationship. Heartbroken Drix decides he's had enough, but has he? Drix goes on a date with Taylah. She's so different from Sasha. She's a laywer and friends with Emerson who's Drix brother Jagger's girl. (Reclaim is their story) I liked them together. I enjoyed reading this book.
I wasn't feeling the first part of the story as much as I wanted to. But something clicked just about right in the second half. I was completely captivated, almost glued to the story. The feelings, gah! Surprisingly, Taylah was my most favourite character, not Drix. And that ending... be still my heart.
Hendrix Michaels has known Sasha since school and at the tender age of 15, he was so sure she was his one and only. The girl of his dreams with a future for them both. Drix would never have believed Sasha would let him down, but she did. However much she’d disillusioned him, Drix still wanted her. Then a little whirlwind came along called Taylah; beautiful, funny and enigmatic. She gave Drix new hope and made his heart beat faster. Regardless of being complete opposites, Taylah would have to compete with Sasha who Hendrix has held on a pedestal for so long.
We met Hendrix in Reclaim which was his brother Jagger's story, and from the offset I could tell that Drix as I knew him, to be a man with a heart of gold. He helps others without caring for his own feelings and aspirations. Such a selfless and giving soul. These two women shake him right to the core. They are nothing like each other. Taylah is a feisty, hardworking sassy girl and she’s drawn to Drix from the moment she met him a couple of times in Reclaim. She's very intrigued by him and aware that there’s some sort of history with Sasha, but she can’t help being a moth to a flame when it comes to Drix.
Sasha is a very complex character, full of insecurities and self-doubt. And although they have a long-standing bond since childhood, she’s her own worst enemy since she can’t seem to make up her mind whether she wants him or not. Now then, the banter and chemistry between Hendrix and Taylah is very intense, and I had no idea if it was just flirty fun or if there was a potential relationship, but it all depended on whether Drix could leave the past behind. Was Sasha really his forever? You will see!
I’d been anticipating Revive since we saw these characters in Reclaim and what Valentine was going to map out for them. Right from the beginning, I was gripped. We get flashes of the past as well as the present and points of view from Hendrix, Sasha and Taylah. It was welcome being able to read what each one of them was thinking and experiencing with their feelings and emotions. There are musical references and all I’ll say is chapter 14 had me in tears with the words and the song that matched with that part of the book. I had a lot of emotions throughout; tears, smiles and aww moments.
Ms. Valentine very cleverly penned a book that just kept me guessing all the way through. Dramatic scenes, very hot scenes. Oh boy, were they steamy! Hendrix is a very virile guy, *inserts laugh*. As I said before, there are musical references and a very complete playlist to accompany the reading experience. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Revive and the powerful impact it had on me. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. I’m definitely going to be re-reading this story as I can’t stop thinking about it and am unable to pick up my Kindle to read another book. Kudos to the author for giving us readers a very special treat. I just didn’t want the book to end. I could read about these characters forever.
Setting Him Free Living your life in the past, only prevents you from having the future you deserve.
Drix has always put everyone else first. He loves fiercely, those he lets in. He’s a great guy. His job is all about helping others. However, in the process of being everything to everyone else, he loses himself.
Sasha was his girl. He loved her since they were kids. She was supposed to be his forever. But her life choices changed their path. He’s never been able to let her go.
Then Taylah comes into his life. Taylah is gorgeous, honest, unfiltered and dedicated to her job of helping people. Her bff just happens to be married to Hendrix’s twin brother, so that’s how these two meet.
Hendrix and Taylah have an intense attraction. What starts out as some sexy banter has the potential to be more than casual. It’s now up to Hendrix to decide if he wants to rekindle the love from his past or discover a new future with the woman who may just be able to mend his heart.
This story was emotional. So much history, heartache and hurt. I smiled, I shed a few tears and I swooned. This was my favorite book thus far by this author. When you open your heart and let the pain from your past go, you are free to embrace your future and live your happily ever after. A beautiful story of surviving heartbreak and finding where you were always meant to be.
This book simply blew me away! I was scared and so terribly excited to read Rivive because I knew this book was going to pull at every emotion I had. From the very beginning I was hooked by the characters. I went on the amazon journey with them in a way only Marley Valentine can take you.
You meet Drix, Sasha and Taylah in the previous story Reclaim. Drix is Jagger’s brother. If I thought Jagger was perfect then my definition was completely wrong. Drix is so easy to fall in love with. His heart, personality, the way he cares he was just everything. The only thing is he has his love and memories of the past, Sasha and the breath of fresh air that could be something great, Taylah. Taylay is absolutely one of my favorite characters written. The sass and hysterical personality she has plus an all around amazing person.
Marley gives you love, emotion, tears, laughter In the most perfect way. This is by far one of my favorite reads of the year and I highly recommend it.
Revive is everything and more you'd expect from a Marley Valentine book. It's filled with angst and bits of humor and a sexy man with the biggest heart. Hendrix Michaels is the whole package. His heart has been through the shredder but he is the most selfless person. I loved reading his story through his eyes and the two women who are fighting for his heart. After reading Reclaim and reading the blurb for Revive I knew who I wanted to hold Drex' s heart. Sasha and Taylah are so different and impacted Drix's life in very different ways. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for sure with these three. This is definitely not a love triangle but two women and one man fighting for their future. Revive is beautifully written with all the feels! You do not have to read Reclaim before Revive as they are standalone but in my opinion it paints a better picture.
This is the second book in this series, and can be read as a standalone; however, I would advise reading “Reclaim” first. Drix and Sasha were always meant to be together, until they were separated. Now Drix does whatever he can to help anybody else, especially his family, and he has lost sight of what he needs for himself. Taylah is fun and feisty, and total opposite to what Drix is. Will he let himself fall in love again? No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which is emotional, heartbreaking, intense, gritty, and with witty banter, and humor. I look forward to reading more form this talented author, and I highly recommend her work for all.
Revive...riveting, exceptional, vivacious, imaginative, victorious, and electrifying! So many more words could be used to describe this amazing read! So many emotions to be felt. Laugh out loud, whole body chills, heart flutter of excitement and of course heartache. Marley makes sure you feel the raw emotions of each of her characters as she takes you on a relatable journey.
Revive can be read as a standalone but is recommended to be read after Reclaim. Throughout the story you are sent back to Jagger, Hendrix and Sasha’s teenage years. The flashbacks transitioned beautifully so there was just enough backstory with no confusion to give us a glimpse into their past without making it the main focus. Drix stepped up for years when his brother was sent away to prison. Now that Jagger is home Drix is ready to move forward and forget about the girl who broke his heart. This story was completely unpredictable and ended exactly how I hoped it would! Hands down top 5 read of 2018!!
I’m blown away by this story. Drix truly has the biggest heart out there and then there’s Taylah, this woman has such a passion for everything she does. Throughout the story I’m filled with endless emotions from laughter when it’s comes to Taylah’s crazy personality and then heart ache when we relive what Drix’s past with Sasha entailed. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m #TeamTaylah from the very beginning, Sasha had her moments where she was pulling me her way and that’s what made this an even better love triangle. When you’re torn with who’s side you’re going to be on that goes to show that the author wrote strong characters all around. The storyline flowed seamlessly that you will never want to put the book down. Phenomenal job and I cannot wait to see what’s to come in the future because I’m hooked. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
What I loved most about this book is that, while I know what I wanted to happen, I wasn’t sure until the end how the story was going to play out. Marley did a great job of keeping the story interesting and sucking you in so that you couldn’t stop reading and had to figure out how it was going to end. Drix and Taylah make such a great couple and I can’t wait to see what is next for them. I hope they make an appearance in the next book!!
This book was everything. Heartache, angst, and so much love. Drix has always put others ahead of himself, and has loved the same girl his entire life. Unfortunately, that girl sabotages them at every stop, and he can’t keep doing the same song and dance anymore. When Taylah pops back up in his life after getting away for a few months, he’s pleasantly surprised to feel something for someone new. Neither one expect to fall like they do, but that doesn’t stop things from trying to destroy them at every turn.
I loved Drix in Reclaim, and I love him more after Revive. I’d definitely recommend this book.
Revive is one of those books that keep you guessing. I love those!! Who will he pick? Gah.....I was riveted through the whole book. Loved the characters. Drix and Taylah aka Crazy (love her nick name) Have sparks and heat. Drix and Sasha have history and broken pieces. Never so happy when I learned the chosen. Yay!!! My heart is full.
After Reclaim, Revive was everything I hoped it would be. Thank you so much Marley Valentine on behalf of Drix. He deserved what he got at the end. One beautiful HEA. Such a great man, I would marry him in a blink...Epilogue made me happy dance 🎉💖🎉💖 Highly recommend it, for best effect, read Reclaim first. 👍👍👍👍👍
