The Centauri Bliss has a new home on the edges of civilized space, eeking out a living even as in the core the Imperium devolves quickly towards a civil war. When a job goes bad Quinn must work to keep his family same as dangers mount, even as an ancient magical threat is unleashed.
While working to stay alive and to keep the ship flying the Centauri continues to try to find a balance, and truly begins to discover its power with the combined set of talents each brings.
WARNING: This book has explicit sex, nudity, murder and a lot of crime. There is a harem, a hot alien, a cheerful robot, a kick-ass lawyer, a xeno-archaeologist in a snazzy hat. It is a harem, and the male main character has built quite the family. It is also space fantasy and space opera, there is a healthy dose of magic, hard science doesn't apply, and a galactic threat is rising.
Continues the Space Opera Feel, But Moves to Fast A lot of intrigue around balancing working with a local crime syndicate the Black Fist who double cross them twice, and running missions while trying to keep a low profile.
Mara joins the crew and the Centauri in full eventually. There are some capers that require and get some actually planning and sometimes the plans even work!
A space ship historian plays a central roll leading them on a journey to beyond currently accessible space using magic tech they have to steal before making the journey. Jinx has to kill an rogue mage, and in the process gains more magical power, and also eventually is driven to redefine her self-identity to accommodate being a killer and her imminent motherhood.
Eventually Jinx ends up being made leader of a planet, and hatches a plan to take over a second world. So much specialness and elevation of a character so quickly always disappoints me. Pacing seems unnecessarily hurried.
The second in the Centauri series continues a unique, funny, and well written space adventure. The mix of tech and magic is developing into a fresh spin on the genera. The harem aspect of story is is a more serious view of the subject than found in the numerous harem lit books being thrown onto the market.
After reading the first book, and thoroughly enjoying it, I was nervous that the second wouldn’t live up to it. I’m delighted to say that I was wrong. Skyler Grant continues the story of Quinn, Tamara (my favourite), Jinx etc, along with a great balance of intrigue, action, plotting and scheming. Very enjoyable... That is all I have heard for the last few years. Space opera and harem just don't blend well. This series and specifically this book is proof that theory is wrong. Grant does a fantastic job giving us dramatic space action full of vengeance and fun. Definitely worth the read.
It's just as good as it's always been and I'm looking forward to future developments. The plot and story have stayed on point and the real stars of the show characters continue to be endearing and fun.
Really enjoyed the story as the the crew has some great adventures and continues to come together. Major plot moves in this book have me looking forward to the next book.
I enjoyed this book very much, the twist of a space themed harem was very well thought out and each of the additions to his harem brought something to the story.
Sorry very late in reviewing this book, have read the series several times now, excellent charactors, with a good and erotic storyline. Now enjoying Skylar's other works.
