Master Raine needs control the way fish need water. His life outside LA’s most exclusive BDSM club is chaotic, and as a result he demands complete obedience from his submissives.
Chastity is delighted when she learns she’s been assigned the letter I as part of the club’s checklist game. After all, there’s nothing she loves more than a spanking or flogging, both forms of impact play. She’s in for a surprise, when she learns that “impact” isn’t even on the list.
Chastity is an excellent submissive, but hates rules. Master Raine is a careful Dom, but without structure he becomes ruthless. Their deceptively simple list of toys becomes something so much more when the truth about who they really are is revealed.
Lila (writing as L. DuBois and Lila Dubois) is a top selling author of paranormal, fantasy and contemporary erotic romance. Having spent extensive time in France, Egypt, Turkey, England and Ireland Lila speaks five languages, none of them (including English) fluently. She now lives in Los Angeles with a cute Irishman and a half-Irish mini human.
The letter I was véry interesting, with a Dom that needs control and a sub that demands respect. Put those two together and wait to see what happens,is half the fun. Master Raine needs control because it keeps him centered, and because it keeps his inner brute at bay. Chastity is the kind of sub that makes him wonder why they were paired. She’s submissive alright, but with a kind of sass his usual subs wouldn’t dream of expressing. She makes him work for her submission, but when she calls him Sir,it feels so much better. The connection he starts to feel with her,is something he didn’t expect, but he likes it. Chastity is an unique member of Las Palmas, and i really hope to find out what the story is behind her membership somewhere along the line.... She enjoys impact play,so the letter I is going to be fun.....isn’t it? Only Master Raine doesn’t do what she expected, and the way he handles her makes her feel things she never did before. At first she felt they weren’t a good match, but when they scened together,it felt só good she called him Sir. And as they go further, exploring the letter I some more, they both find they want to continue, after it’s done. Meeting in the real world wasn’t part of the plan though..... How will it affect their arrangement?
This time,i’m left with a few questions. Why did Master Leo do what he did? Why did Chastity need the distance with impact play? She’s likes it with a whip, crop,or anything else, but a spanking done with a bare hand is too....intimate? What happened with Master Raine and his ex to make her call him a brute, which in turn led him to feel the need to control himself to that extent?
Overall,i díd enjoy the story, though. And i am looking forward to the letter J!
This is the ninth in what I assume will be twenty-six entries in a series set in Las Palmas Oscuras, one of those fantasy BDSM clubs popular in this genre. (I say "assume" because I'm not entirely sure what kinks begin with "Z," but we'll see.) The series' central conceit offers us a dom and sub who participate in kink scenes that begin with the letter they've been assigned ("A," for example, includes "Anal Play"). From what I can tell, each is a stand-alone featuring a single couple (some long-standing, others not) that is long on erotica and short on story. In fact, I would call these "novellas," rather than "novels" since much of the total page space is taken up with ads for Ms. DuBois' other books.
Because each story features different characters, a different relationship dynamic, and different kinks, some will appeal more to individual readers based on personal preference than others. Here, the kinks revolve around a lot of ice, which was deeply sensual. This is yet another entry that depicts the conflict between a high-protocol vs. a much looser approach to BDSM, but, thus far, this scenario hasn't gotten old. Raine and Chastity were both very likable. I was particularly relieved that Chastity had a sense of self-preservation that many of the other subs lacked. When she tells Raine that she can't possibly trust someone she's just met, I nodded my head in agreement.
That said, the ending features a highly implausible coincidence, was abrupt even by this series' standards (indeed, they hadn't finished their list), and left a lot of unanswered questions (such as ).
Alexandre Raine is an intense Dom, in fact his ex” called him “brutish”. Chastity is not your average sub. Her submission and respect must be earned; she does not always lower her gaze or automatically call them Sir.
When instructed to give “stop-light feedback”, green for good and yellow for caution she still cannot follow rules: “How are you now?” “Okay.” “That’s not a proper answer to the question.” Chartreuse.” He chuckled. “And what color is that?” “It’s yellow-green. My head…” The blood rushing to her head wasn’t exactly painful, but it wasn’t comfortable, either.
At the Las Palmas club where standard club rules do not apply and where most are well-off this pair is to spend the weekend together exploring the letter “I” opportunities. When Raine finds himself intrigued by Chastity’s push-back and laughing more than….well ever, a brilliant rapport begins. This is of course the whole point of the pairing, and why this is such an intricate and mesmerizing read!!
Originally agreeing they are not “each other’s type”… things begin to change. Then the impossible happens – they meet in “real life”. One of the most intimate BDSM stories I have had the pleasure of reading.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Intriguing. I loved the fact that Chasity wasn't your typical sub. She had a strong and fun personality. While I liked him, I had a hard time really getting to know Master Raine. We're told about him at a high level but I didn't feel like we got to really know him.
The letter "I" had some really interesting challenges that I certainly hadn't anticipated. The way the challenges were played out was fabulous.
While I enjoyed this book, I wished there was more to it. I would have liked to get to know both characters better as well as learn more about their relationship after their weekend. Plus I'm still not clear on how one character was a member. Did someone else pay for it? Is there a provision in the club finances that they allow "X" number of people in for free? It was touched on but in my mind never fully explained.
One thing I must say about this entire series is that no two characters or stories are alike. Lila does a fantastic job of bringing us unique stories every time.
I loved this book! It's a really well-written, hot and sexy story about a Dom and a sub, strangers to each other, who are paired together in a game at an exclusive BDSM club. Chastity and Alexandre have out of this world chemistry and their mutual respect is evident from the beginning; and even though at first they do not seem suited, they soon discover they are more compatible than they ever imagined.
I really cared about these characters, both of whom are very likable. In fact, they are at the top of the list of favorites of any Dom and sub characters I've read previously. This erotic novel with a touch of romance is an awesome read.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Master Rayne is hot! And I love that Chastity is a little different as a sub. Mixed it up a bit. I love the checklist series and “I” did not disappoint.
I really liked these two, and how, in pushing their own boundaries, they found a more settled peace within themselves. A lot of that doesn’t become apparent until nearly the end, when we see them in their real lives, but we get to enjoy being a voyeur on that exploration! Chastity thinks she is one thing, and one thing only, but Alexandre shows her that there is more than one thing to what she likes and who she is. Alexandre in contrast believes he needs to be one way as that is how he will best function, but Chastity pushes him, and he discovers some truths of his own. These two most definitely made a connection while playing together, but, now I want to know about the Master Leo angle, which I suppose, will come up in his book someday…
When control freak Dom Master Raine and Chastity (a submissive who prefers to have fewer rules) are matched during an event at their BDSM club, they find that they're much more compatible than either would have thought.
The scenes during the event at the club are fun and sexy, and I like the interplay between the characters, and what liking someone unexpected means to each character. The book stumbles a bit when they meet in the outside world, but ultimately becomes a very good book about seemingly disparate people making a relationship work.
I is for . . . Incomplete! Icy. Interesting. I so wanted the interrogation, but that is where the story ended. It promised to be so fun. These two were interesting. They didn't think they were each other's "type," but the overseers seem to know all. Fascinating fit. Fun read.
Another amazing addition to the BDSM Checklist series, I is For, had me hooked until the very last page! I can honestly say that when I see Lila is about to deliver up another great book to this series, I know to set aside some solid 'me' time as once I start, I know I won't be re-surfacing again until the very end and Chastity and Master Raine's story certainly had me lost this morning for a couple of hours - and it was SO worth it!
I have to admit, in terms of what I expected from the alphabet, the 'challenges' were certainly not what I had anticipated and I'm actually glad that Lila once again kept me guessing and enjoying everything she threw at Master Raine and Chastity. Their story, like them is a bit different (as all of the stories in the series have been so far - you'd think I'd learn!), but that is what makes this great. They are both struggling with the perceived expectations and rules that kink conjures up, as well as beliefs in the 'vanilla' world, but Lila plays her readers beautifully when that perceived expectation changes what we anticipated on the list for 'I' and also of who Master Raine and Chastity really are together. It really wouldn't be Las Palmas if it wasn't confronting and deliciously sexy and sinful!
I loved every minute of the challenges, the supposed non compliant sub, the believed conventional and conforming Dom and let's not forget the ever present humour and sexiness. Once again I am on the edge of my seat eager to see where Lila takes us next on the BDSM checklist! Another must-read for me - it should be for you too!
Once again, Lila Dubois has taken what I thought was going to happen and turned it totally around, making it into something completely different! Throughout this series, I've been constantly surprised at the outcomes as well as with the creative.....happenings that occur with each couple in the course of the BDSM game.
Chastity doesn't seem to feel like she really fits in. She knows she isn't like other submissives, knows that her actions and beliefs are different. But she needs this place, and what she gets from it.
Master Raine is an enigma. We aren't given much information on him, other than what his thoughts are about the game. He is revealed to us through his reactions, more so than anything else.
The story of Chastity and Master Raine was interesting. They seemed well matched, despite their initial misgivings about not being each other's "type". I loved how much fun they had together, even in the middle of the seriousness that is BDSM. I've enjoyed each new book in this series, as well as the surprises that lay within, but I think this is my favorite so far!
If you are familiar with this series then you are familiar with the Las Palmas club and where most of the interactions take place. Can I say that this story was pretty much entails one scene and what a delicious scene it was.
Master Raine and Chastity, are paired up and given the letter "I" and just like Chastity, what I thought they were going to play was not at all what the author gave us. It was much more chilly (those of you who have read it...excuse the pun!) and totally diabolical as Chastity also let Master Raine know.
These two are two people who normally would not have found each other, but at Las Palmas, they were paired up even though they don't think they are each others type. Much to their dismay, they find that do well and each other brings something that the other didn't know they were looking for.
Each of these stories I've read have been such a pleasure, the items on the checklist have always been something very interesting and unique and I look forward to the next item!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
L Dubois adds another unique story to the BDSM Checklist series. Chastity and Master Raine seem to be incompatible when getting to know each other and their limits when they are paired for the checklist games with the letter I. Chastity believes she knows what makes her happy and a good submissive. She is feisty and makes no excuses with her witty comments and actions. Master Raine has issues from his past relationship. With every scene with Chastity, Master Raine realizes he needs to overcome his issues head-on to move forward and be with Chastity in the vanilla and BDSM world. Although they seem incompatible in the beginning, Chastity and Master Raine find themselves feeling deeper emotions than with any other they have played with in the past. L Dubois pens a creative story and does not overwhelm the reader in details with each scene and the communication that transpires between Chastity and Master Raine is fun and cleverly titillating.
This was a quick read book for me and can I tell you, it was hot! This book centers on Master Raines (delicious) and Chastity (who is a feisty sub) and their growing relationship of Master and Sub. I really liked both characters as they bounced off each other really well and I really liked the twist at the end when you find out what Chastity does as a job! Scenes are hot in this book, there's a lot of kinkiness and I really like that Chastity gives as good as she gets when Raine goes all dominant on her. A must read for all L. DuBois fans and a must read for new readers too. This series does not need to be read in a particular order but to understand other characters it does help.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This doesn't affect the content of my review.
This is the ninth book in the Checklist Series. I have read and loved each previous book in the series, and this one was no exception. It was a bit lighter than the previous book, but it was still intense at times. I loved Chastity and Master Raine. Neither was what the other character was expecting when they were paired in the Alphabet Game. It made for an interesting, though scorching hot, time working through their small “I” list.
Both Chastity and Master Raine were a bit of enigma each in their own way, and the ending was a wonderful surprise. I thought Chastity, in particular, was a breath of fresh air. She wasn’t the typical submissive.
Although each book in this series doesn’t have the typical HEA, they do have a Happy For Now with the hope of a HEA.
I was puzzled at first trying to figure out these two enigmatic characters. Because I was puzzled, I enjoyed learning what and who they were. They were a unique couple and their BDSM weekend was not without its challenges. They circled and challenged each other like a couple of gladiators in an arena. I really liked them both the more I got to know them. Both Alexandre's reticence to be a brute and his steel core made him quite likable and charismatic. Chastity's less than standard submissive attitude coupled with her forthright sassiness were refreshing. Their "I" weekend was compelling.
After my disappointment with H, Lila has reminded me why I like the checklist books with I. Even though this book doesn't have the feels of B, C, D, or G, I really enjoyed Chastity and Master Raine. Plenty of smoking hot / inventive scenes for those that enjoy them with enough story to keep your attention. From the beginning Chastity's sassy nature had me smiling and laughing and she was a great foil to Raine's strict planning. Grab a copy and Enjoy!
Note- I would have liked more explanation on the Chastity/Leo thing.
This pairing by Ms. Dubois originally had me wondering what she was up to. Raine (or Master Raine) is the no-nonsense Master and she is the unconventional Sub. But there is a method to Ms. Dubois' madness and this letter in the Alphabet checklist game shows her imagination is limitless. The letter “I” while you wouldn’t think there is anything with this letter but Master Raine and Chastity navigate their way through it and learn not just some things about each other but about themselves as well. Now on the J! And I learned there are things that can be done in "I".
I is for...(BDSM Checklist Book 9) is incredibly sexy!
I have loved every one of the books from this series. They are full of amazing characters dealing with their desires and their emotions. They show you that it can be scary to have both but so perfect if you trust yourself and your Dom. This series is one I would recommend to everyone who loves BDSM.
What a wonderful story. Two very in independent people who find out they need each other during the game. Hot times and scenss. But the most important thing is the connection they find along the way. You will love this one!
This book surprised me, it has a different "feel" from some of the others in this series, but I enjoyed it immensely. It has all of the good elements that I enjoy in these books--sex, kink, and yes, romance, but these characters just felt more real to me.
Left me wanting more. I felt immobilized (hint I..) when it ended at the perfect place for me to "try to top from bottom and beg for just two more chapters!!!!". Marvelous
Definitely loved and feared the letter I 😁. Love the pushing of limits by both sides of Master and Sub these books have and can't wait to dive into J!!!
As a new fan of this bookseries, reading the books now for the first time, I appreciate how each book offers a unique-ish experience by exploring a different letter of the alphabet. This educational journey adds depth to the enjoyment, exploring various themes and scenarios.
One standout element of this particular book for me, was Chasity's character. Unlike the "typical book submissive" often depicted in BDSM literature, Chasity brings a refreshing and distinctive dynamic to the story and make this book -up to this point- stand out from earlier parts of the series. I can appreciate if books are different from standard portrayals, without losing their realism, and this one is a good example. In real life, the kinky world has a wide variety of dynamics, and it's cool when books reflect a bit of the diversity.
Overall, this book is very enjoyable and an enlightening addition to the series. Like the previous parts it not only entertains but also educates, offering a perspective on the aspects of BDSM. Chasity's character is refreshing and I really enjoyed that.
To be honest, when I started this book, I could only think of 1 I, but again Lila has given me an education.
L. Dubois takes you on a guided tour of the BDSM world and giving you characters and images that you can close your eyes and see.
Chastity and Master Rains take one look at each other and know this won't last past their task. What's the saying? Don't judge a book by its cover.... Lesson learned. All I can say is I hated to see this book end.
2.5 stars. I love some of these books but this one is not my favorite by a long shot. First off the further we get into this series the less I feel like we get to really delve into the letters and considering that they were only three for I I feel like we did not spend enough time on them and the fact that interrogation was completely blown over. Seems like a cash grab at this point.
I gotta say... This isn't my favorite of the series this far. I wanted so much more out of Master Raine and Chastity. I mean, it's still an amazing book. But probably my least favorite so far of the series.
And I wanna read that interrogation scene damn it!!! 😁
