Agent Lilah fucking Love is back in the city she loves now admitting she wants to be with the one man she shouldn't be with cartel king pin Kane Mendez on a new task force team design my her boss FBI Director Murphy. However before she can start her new job a murder happens and she called to profile a case NYPD called into her Director and she is specifically requested. This serial killer is called The Umbrella man because he first plays with the victim's family/love ones making the family believes if they kill themselves he will save the victim. Which in the end he kills the all. We all know Lilah hates games and this killer is playing with her trying to match wits with intelligence, making her think its too close for him to know as much as he do. Lilah trust no one and everyone is on the suspect list except Kane. Making her believe that is killer is too familiar and may be someone in the NYPD someone that is right in front of her.
In order to catch this psychotic killer Lilah must face who she fears everyone may see her as the reason her and Kane understand each other she must embrace and think like the killer she looking for or the killer she wants to hide. This book keeps you on the edge and just when you think Lilah is facing the killer the cliffhanger hits you dead in the face UGH!!!!
Damn, this author really knows how to suck you into a story. I'm so fascinated by Lilah and her life. I'm also completely jealous she has a man like Kane Mendez. Even his name sounds awesome. If you love an anti-hero who will literally kill for his woman....you'll love Kane Mendez.
Lilah is kind of a bitch and I love her for it. She is so blunt with her dealings with others. I'm pretty sure she hates people. She's just so badass that I think everyone that hates her discreetly loves her too.
This is a series that tackles different cases per book but I would still recommend starting at book one. You learn so much about each character that reappear in each book. Plus this one ended on a huge cliffhanger. I don't believe the first two does, so this threw me when it ended and of course it's a cliffhanger that I have to know what happens next.
Facts: Love Me Dead is book #3 of Lilah Love series by NY Times, and USA Today best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones. This book is the first in the next duet of the Lilah Love series, but it’s best if the series is read in order. The book is told from the heroine's point of view with a cliffhanger ending. Genres: Women Sleuths | Romantic Suspense. Tropes: Alpha hero | love triangle
With Love Me Dead, Lisa Renee Jones another heart pounding novel where Special Agent Lilah Love is racing against the clock to find the serial killer she’s dubbed “The Umbrella Man.”
Still working under her old boss in order to take down “The Society,” a group of powerful people determined to rule the world no matter the cost, Lilah has relocated to New York. But before she can continue with that quest, she must first solve the mystery behind the person who is murdering women and leaving clues specially for Lilah.
And now that she’s close to her not so ex-lover, Kane Mendez, he’s more determined than ever to protect her while convincing her that they belong together.
“I’m sending someone to look after you.” “If you do, you’ll pay the price.” He lowers his voice. “I do love the way you do angry sex, Lilah.” “Kane, if you send someone to watch me, and I mistake them for a problem, I will shoot them.” “Then I’ll send someone I don’t mind losing.”
Lisa Renee Jones expertly pens a story with all the elements that make up a hooking read. An unapologetic, smart@ss heroine you can’t help but like and admire. An alpha anti-hero who is utterly devoted to the heroine. Explosive chemistry and a deep connection between the two. Appealing secondary characters that add much necessary comedic relief and move the plot along, and of course a well thought out and developed plot that’s both exciting and hooking. I can’t wait to read more!

WARNING This is a two part story ending in a huge cliffhanger in part one to be followed up in part two's Love Kills. Lilah Love is a detective reminiscent of the 1940's film noir detectives who were sharp tough gritty types with very dry black droll senses of humor. She also has the mouth of a Tony Montana character from the film Scarface and the resolve of a pit bull when it comes to the capture of the psychos she is assigned to profile or in her case willing to kill in order to deliver justice. An extremely suspenseful and gritty crime series.
Love Me Dead is a mad dash against the clock. And Lilah is distracted, she can't think of any kind of connection to her case. Apart from maybe herself, or Kane. And that's possibly why she can't solve it right now. She's in her purgatory, and she's doing everything she usually knows so well how to do. However, she can't find that detail that's just out of her reach... I really enjoyed this story, both because Kane is more present in Lilah's life, and because some of the things of their past are put to rest. It ends on a cliffhanger, though, and I'm already completely ready for the next book. I just HAVE to know!
COYER Summer 2019 Treasure Hunt: Read A Mystery novel (classic, cozy, etc.). 1 Point
I'm upset with you people! Why is this series so underrated? It needs more eyes and ears on it. I swear I haven't been this giddy about a thriller since The Mindf*ck Series. It's bloody delightful, or delightfully bloody, both works. It's twisted and sexy and fun. Go read it, right now!!!!
I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, but these are ridiculous. They aren’t so much as a cliffhanger as an abrupt and illogical ending of the book. In a way it does work as I am going to pick up the last book to know how this mess ends.
I love this series about Lilah Love who is an FBI profiler and special agent. In this book she is taunted by a serial killer that is dubbed "Umbrella Man," and she feels that the killings are personal. She definitely does not lack suspects or at least people that she has some suspicions about and questions constantly who the killer might be.
Her home is based in Los Angeles but this case takes her to New York. Characters from previous books follow her and you get to know them/understand them and the relationships among the characters better. One such person/character is Kane Mendez. They have a unique relationship as she is an FBI agent and he has family ties with the cartel. He claims his part in it is legit. I loved reading about their relationship and the way that he is able to truly pull at her heart strings.
Lilah's dad, Grant Love, is the police chief of East Hampton, so one can only imagine how he might feel about Kane. Grant is also in politics and is being trained to run for New York governor; however, Lilah and her father have a strained relationship mainly due to a comment he made in a previous book when she experienced a horrific crime.
I highly recommend this series and this book but I do have a warning: be prepared for a HUGE cliffhanger that will leave you screaming if you aren't prepared with book 4.
Note: The books are available on Audible Escape for free.
I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I remember reading and loving the first book, Murder Notes, but now I see that in my review for the second book -Murder Girl, I wrote I wouldn't recommend it. But oh well, I still came back to it. It's VERY fortunate and nice of the author to put a short summary at the beginning because I forgot most of the plot and the characters. This series is very fast-paced, very! It feels as if everything happens in a day, the events just pile up one on top of the other. But, I like Lilah as a character. And Kane, the two of them are amazing. The books ends on a massive cliffhanger, so I'll just say I'm happy that book #4 is already out!
And Lilah, Purgatory still exists, and it's waiting on you.
The killer wants to play a game with Lilah Love. Lilah doesn't play games, she doesn't submit to demands. The love of her life, her ex-lover, that isn't so ex at all, Kane Mendez, knows that all too well, but like the hero, or perhaps criminal that he is, he'll try to play the game for her.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--LOVE ME DEAD is the third instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LILAH LOVE romantic suspense series focusing on FBI profiler Lilah Love.
Told from first person perspective (Lilah Love) LOVE ME DEAD follows FBI profiler Lilah Love as she is sent to Manhattan to investigate a murder that will pull our heroine into the biggest game of her life. Always one step behind, Lilah will discover that she is unable to trust co-workers or friends; everyone has an agenda; and someone is trying to take our heroine down. With possible connections to the Society, and the man that she loves, the killings follow a similar pattern that will force Lilah to face the truth that the killer may be someone she knows.
LOVE ME DEAD is an intriguing, suspense filled story; a raw and gritty killing spree that finds Lilah Love the ultimate target of an intelligent and crafty killer determined to destroy her world. Lisa Renee Jones pull the reader into a complex, detailed and tragic story with a strong heroine with no filter, and the ability to intimidate the strongest man.
LOVE ME DEAD ends on a cliff-hanger, you have been warned. The story continues in LOVE KILLS (October 2019).
I read the first two books in this series years ago, and somehow never followed up with subsequent books. This was a HUGE mistake. My mum reminded me of this series as she has just read them all and recommended them. It wasn't long before I was back with Lilah Love and it all came back.
The two people I trust in this series are Lilah herself and her on/off/on/off boyfriend, Kane. Despite his gangster connections and Lilah bing FBI, these two are meant for each other. As this case brings danger to Lilah's door, Kane is the only one she will trust for a change.
I love love love Lilah Love! Love Me Dead is so full of action, and like a puzzle. Her life is all mixed up between the bad and the good, and she's got such crazy skill when figuring out a murder. Everyone is a suspect, And Lilah doesn't beat around the bush, she's not warm and fuzzy. There's only one man who brings that out in her and I love them together.
Okay, so I wasn't expecting it, but this does end on a cliffhanger. So now I'm dying because I have to wait to find out what happens. But it will be worth it. You could read this without reading her other books first but I wouldn't recommend it. Just my opinion.
I didn’t realize this book was out, stumbled upon it at audible so grabbed it to listen. Lilah was a bit salty in this one, but what I liked was she is finally owning up to wanting certain people in her life. The crime that Lilah was called into investigate was a bit crazy only because it seemed they were targeting her. What made it worse was that while investigating Lilah couldn’t trust anyone, which made her jumpy.
The ending to this one drove me nuts…talk about a cliffhanger. I’m glad that the next one comes out soon.
Lilah Love is a twenty-eight-year-old FBI profiler working on murder investigations in Los Angeles. A serial killer, known as the Umbrella Man, is targeting people but now he wants to play a game... with Lila herself. As Lila doesn't like to play games, her sort-of-ex Kane Mendez, CEO of Mendez Enterprises, tries to play for her.
Love Me Dead is equally as good as both Murder Notes and Murder Girl. The mystery is an involved and complex one, so I was grateful I had read the other instalments, though the author thoughtfully provides a who's who as an aide-memoire. Reading Love Me Dead, I continued to enjoy the characterisation of Lilah who is certainly a tough cookie with a strong mind.
With its poised balance of intrigue, edginess, and raw emotion, the story concludes leaving the reader anxious for the next instalment. Personally, I can't wait. An enthralling, dark, deeply enjoyable read, well worth five stars.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

This is a fast paced, thrilling read laced with suspense, mystery and drama. I love Lilah Love and her take no prisoners approach to life. She’s a total kick butt heroine that has no soft spots except for Kane.
”Kane, if you send someone to watch me, and I mistake them for a problem, I will shoot them.”
Then I’ll send someone I don’t mind losing.”
Kane and Lilah’s relationship is definitely headed in the right direction but they’ve still got issues standing between them. Kane has a shadowy presence within his family’s cartel business which prevents him from sharing everything with Lilah, to keep her safe. Lilah’s badge makes it problematic that the man she loves has an attachment to organized crime. Even so, they lean on each other and I love that despite the times she wants to shoot him, he is her everything.
We have just a touch of the Society in this one, but a ton of mystery we have no clue who, what or why. I have my own opinions, but seeing as this ends a HUGE cliffhanger, they won’t be verified until the next book releases. Be prepared to be sucked into this story. Have snacks and drinks handy because once you start you won’t want to stop.
Matching wits with an intelligent, cunning, serial killer…
This is the third book in the Lilah Love series, some unresolved threads from the previous books continue but the case being investigated is new, the ending is a cliffhanger.
She won’t be returning to Los Angeles. FBI Agent Lilah Love has been assigned to a cold case task force for the northeast region so she’s now based in Manhattan, near family and her ex-lover/fiancé. The job is real and a façade for other investigations, the agenda that of the FBI Director which Lilah will question. Before she can even begin on cold cases a woman is murdered and she’s specifically called in to profile a killer for the NYPD, called in by her mentor, a man she’s afraid will see the truth of what she’s become, the truth only Kane Mendez sees. But things are not as expected and another woman dies shortly after the first with the taunt of one more to come.
This killer finds his victims inconsequential and he plays with them and those closely associated to them as if they are pieces on a sadistic game board, he not only kills the primary targets he causes the deaths of the secondary targets. This perpetrator knows way too much about Lilah leading her to suspect he’s stalked her for a while or is current/former law enforcement making the job more difficult for Lilah who can’t trust anyone within the NYPD and has to use questionable outside resources for assistance. As she unravels the pieces of this nasty puzzle everyone but Kane is a suspect, things are complicated for there are three possibilities that Lilah must keep under consideration until they are ruled out: an unknown player who is perhaps someone within the NYPD, the stalker from the Hamptons she has as yet not caught or The Society, the corrupt organization that supposedly had been contained.
Besides the manipulation of his victims, this serial killer is playing a deadly game with Lilah specifically, the why to be revealed but he may not be prepared for the opponent he selected to match wits with. Lilah is not a typical law enforcement professional bound by codes of conduct, rules, and regulations. When this killer made it personal he primed a weapon and pointed it in his direction, one with drug cartel connections. Who will remain standing is the question and this reader is betting on Lilah.
The complexities of this rather twisted plot will keep the reader guessing, the pace slow in comparison to the previous books. Lilah Love is back, a heroine as deadly as the prey she hunts with a lover more dangerous than her. To take down such a psychotic killer one must understand them, the dark side of humanity is something this heroine is, one might say, unfortunately, familiar with yet she’s human and has vulnerabilities, she exhibits personal growth as she embraces who she is and what she wants.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.
What can I say....this series has it all! There are twists and turns wherever you look, the storyline is tantalizing and addictive...you’re literally in a trance trying to figure out what’s happening next and why Lilah Love continues to be at the center of it. Her enemies are everywhere and when you think you may have figured out who the killer is something or someone else comes into view and you have to start the process all over again. LOL!!!
I think what will draw you in the most is while watching her try to solve these murders you’re also watching her come into her own in her personal life...she has the persona of not caring about people or what they think and acts out accordingly but in reality she does....it’s fascinating to watch her deal with it. She also needs to find closure in so many aspects in her personal life and seeing her deal with those issues along with the political drama of her job as well as the enemies she continues to make along the way is both intriguing and frustrating....proving once again the challenges of a women trying to make it in a “man’s world”.
This series has the potential to be ongoing for a long time, we’re looking at another Eve Dallas and Roarke from J.D. Robb’s Murder Series.... I truly hope this is only the beginning for Lilah and Kane. There is so much more that can be written about Lilah’s professional life and ongoing relationship with Kane Mendez....and all the characters in this series.
Lilah and Kane are a powerful couple....their struggle to be together, how they feed off each other’s strengths and enable one another in their lives is a beautiful thing to see. I would love to see more details written about their intimate life...their passion and love for each other is explosive and needs to be put out there so you can really feel the intensity they have for each other....it’s what makes them and shows they have a bind that can’t be broken.
I can’t wait to read the next installment and PLEASE keep this series going....I said it once and I’ll say it again this series is addicting and a must read!
Love Me Dead by Lisa Renee Jones is the 3 book in the Lilah Love Series and whoa talk about one explosive cliffhanger! FBI Profiler Lilah Love is now assigned to a new task force that will keep her in Manhattan. Hardly in her new apartment she gets a message from Junior and then a call by the NYPD requesting her expertise with a serial killer. As she arrives to the scene she feels like she's being watched. Once inside realizes that this crime is a message to her. She realizes fast that she doesn't trust anyone at the NYPD when she discovers missing evidence along with incorrect statements. As the story unfolds Lilah and Kane's relationship intensifies and she finally gives in and admits she wants to be with him. She fights it hard at first and one of the times she was livid at him and pulled her gun on him. I love this quote from Kane's
“I know you and what you will and won’t do. I know you like no one else knows you and that pisses you off. You’re a killer, Lilah, of course you’ll do it, but to be clear, it’s the only way you’ll get rid of me."
The killer is taunting her expecting her to play his game little does he know that she doesn't like games. This is a riveting, suspensefilled, edge of your seat, mystery with so many twist and turns that you won't be able to put it down.
”If I would have lost you, I would have burned the damn city down. I would’ve kept burning cities down. You don’t get to die, Lilah.”
4 stars. This was so close to being a 5 star book until that cliffhanger ending. I’m.so.pissed. I can’t believe I have to wait until October to get the wrap up of this case. I mean, it was still a good ending but I wish it would’ve been tied up in this one and then a whole new case in the next book but whatever. I’m not salty. It’s fine. Whatever.
Lilah Love is a badass and I love her dearly and it was so good to read from her p.o.v again. She has such a unique and distinct voice and her character is just so authentic. She’s a self proclaimed bitch and she’s fantastic at her job. What’s not to love? Also, I noticed some subtle character growth from her which was fun. It wasn’t anything big or major but it was definitely there.
This book has a lot more romance in it than the previous two books which was fine with me because it was a good balance of the mystery and the relationship. Plus, I love me some Kane Mendez. He’s the perfect counterpart for Lilah and I love how much he respects her even though he definitely has his Alpha moments but for the most part, they have a strange relationship based on mutual respect. They have such fantastic, intense chemistry.
Overall, this was another great installment to this series. The mystery was really well done and kept me on the edge and I cannot wait for Love Kills. October cannot come fast enough for me.
Finally psycho bitch detective ...not my description ( our lead girl is pretty crazy ) is openly dating gangster bf and all of a sudden .....she needs to do everything he says and get protection from him not the fbi...its still crazy combo for love / romance....but the murder mystery is interesting enough. First POV , cliffhanger ending
Anyone who loces a strong female lead will love this book! The entire series is a must read. The books fly by but they are full length. My app says the page count completely wrong. Suspenseful, dramatic, romantic and kick ass is how i wouldld describe Lilah Love.
Fantastic story that keeps me on edge and laughing out loud at Lilah’s snark! I love how fast Lisa Renee’s mind works and that translates to a fast paced storylines that make me focus to keep up. Loved it but really am tired of the cliffhangers...I’d rather wait for the entire 500 pages to know the full story-but that just me
