Ugh. I Really Hate That Guy.

Rate this book
Agent Silver is an exemplary agent, a stoic, resourceful perfectionist who demands nothing less than excellence from himself and those he works with. There’s nothing he hates more than a mission going wrong.

And his latest mission has turned into a fiasco.

Now he has no choice but to retreat to a dusty safe house and await instructions from HQ. Unfortunately, and to his disgust, he has to drag his partner along with him: Agent Copper, who is loud-mouthed, obnoxious and, in Silver’s opinion, the worst secret agent in the world. Sharing a safe house with him is going to be intolerable.

Worst of all, there’s only one bed.

M/M, enemies-to-lovers, high heat level.

This was absolutely hilarious novella featuring two spies, rickety safe house and abundance of free time. Told from single POV this was a good enemies to lovers story with enough tidbits about MCs, Copper and Silver, for me like them and get invested in their story. It was just right length for me. Although the D/s dynamic was unexpected in the end, I could actually see it between the two men. Silver was always in control while Copper was a bit of a smart mouth brat. I enjoyed it.

It was quite possible that he was the single worst secret agent Silver had ever met. And it was just Silver’s luck that they were probably going to be stuck together for the next week at least.

A little ‘spy partners on mission have some unexpected fun’ novella. Agent Silver and Copper just sound sooo sexy.
Some nice tension, dislike to love, fighting and surprise boners.

“Fuck, you’re gorgeous,” Copper hissed, rutting artlessly against him. “Gorgeous bastard. Smell so nice.” “I want… want you. Want to fuck you. Please,” Silver gasped. Copper chuckled darkly. “Dirty boy. Yes. Do it. Fucking now.”

What happens in the safe house, stays in the safe house.

CW and tropes (spoilers):
- Spies
- Coworkers
- Light restraints
- Rimming
- Strict top/bottom (one scene)
- Brief D/s theme (epilogue)

Mixed feelings about this sexy spy short.

I knew there would be BDSM and that's something I'm totally fine with but the slapping and kicking in this really came out of nowhere. This is a long way from a negotiated scene or established dynamic and it threw me for a loop. I mean, sure, Copper was enjoying it but...ugh, I don't know, explicit consent is cool too, OK?

The only-one-bed trope was also criminally under-utilised.

On the other hand, I really liked both characters. Gruff Silver realising that annoying, bubbly Copper is actually an intelligent and interesting man, and not the total fool he assumed him to be? I love that dynamic.

I liked the flashforward/epilogue 6 months later, but felt like I really needed to see at least snippets of the time in between to fully appreciate their story.

Sexual content: Explicit.

Fun enemies-to-lovers novella, although the very ending wasn’t my favorite (it’s happy though.) Actually I read the follow-up story first and then looked for this one.

4-⭐

Another funny T.J Land enemies-to-lovers story where the main characters trade insults and are all around obnoxious but it's still not off-putting. These are nice snacks and very interesting, though Silver here is a bit of a sadist.

Fun but frivolous? I’ve picked up a few of this author’s short works for free, and this is the first one I’ve read. Enjoyable but not terribly memorable. But I’ll probably read more when I just need a quick palate cleanser.

(I do really like this cover, which is way cooler than the one that shows up on my kindle.)

Safe house

2 secret agents stuck together in a barely habitable safe house for an unknown length of time. One very stoic and staid, the other talkative and prone to complaining. All together made for a good story. I'd quite like more of Sliver and Copper

This was fun and quirky until it wasn’t. The halfway mark was like flipping a switch and it did not work for me at all. In the first half Silver hates Copper while Copper has an obvious, if misguided, crush. The moment Silver becomes aware of the attraction he hatched a plan. I think my biggest issue here is the line of consent is blurry. Silver has zero interest in Copper until he can use it against him and that really didn’t sit well with me. The guy fucking waltzed around naked and then offered to “teach him how to withstand torture”. I know these shorts are, whether intentional or not, bloody ridiculous, but I did not like the abuse of power here without clear and set rules.

this was a okay story it had great build and i liked how the setting was, along with it unfolding however it needed more of the main genre much more.

pros:
character build
story build and setting
description was good
free

cons:
grammer needs fixing some parts was grammer error or mispelling.
needed way more erotica only 1 scene isnt enough.
author needs to add more description in erotica, the whole scene felt rushed.

A short story that started out a tiny bit boring for me but then quickly became quite interesting and a touch hilarious. Two agents holed up in a safe house waiting to be told by HQ that things are ok. One man is seasoned, the other a more newish recruit. One man calm and sensible, the other a moaning moron. A good read, well laid out and very enjoyable.

Quick

This is a quick and easy way to spend a lunch hour. It is very characteristic of this author’s other works.
